Windows 10 caused printer problems

Some of us found that uninstalling the printer and using the original CD to install like a new printer fixed problems like loss of the scan feature.    I am shocked that days after posts of printer problems caused by Windows 10 have not been answered by HP on this forum.   The solution above is so simple!   My next computer will not be HP.  No support !!!!!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I came across your post about the sound, and wanted to assist you! To start, can you provide me with the Product Number of your notebook?  Here is a link you can use that will help you find your Model and Product Number: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
In the meantime, make sure you have drivers installed for your product that work with Windows 10.  You can find them using this site: HP Products - Where Do I Find Windows 10 Drivers and Software for My Model? If you are still having trouble, then you can try using the Go back to an earlier build option, in your System Settings: HP Notebook PCs - Upgrading to Windows 10
Once you are back to your original Operating System, check to see if you are experiencing the same issue. If not, then you may consider holding off on the Windows 10 update for a few weeks, until drivers can be updated. Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.
Have a great day!

  • Windows 7 Printing Problem

I have a very peculiar printing problem using Acrobat 9.5.2.  The pages always prints like this:
    <http://www.mytechnet.talktalk.net/Out-of-the-loop.pdf>
When I print the same page in Bullzip (a free pdf creator) it prints/creates the correct English file that can be read in Reader.
I am using Windows 7 Professional with 8 Gb ram and 2 TB Disk Drive (1.8 TB free).  Is my installation corrupted or is there a simple fix for it.
    Thanks.

This is a classic error when the fonts used in the document and your systems fonts aren't compatible or aren't the same.  What you could do is to NOT TO RELY on systems fonts as defaults and everything should work normally.  To do this try this:
    1) Go to Start/Windows Orb
    2) Click on Devices and Printers
    3) Right-click on Adobe PDF
    4) Click on Printing Preferences
    5) Uncheck "Rely on systems fonts only; Do not use document fonts"
    6) Click OK
You are now done and your documents should look normal on the screen.

  • 'Laserjet 1022n Windows Update' causing printing problems: print jobs don't stop printing

    Hello,
a few days ago, I installed the Laserjet 1022n Windows Update on my Windows 7 64 bits and since then, I can't print a page normally: the page doesn't stop printing. I am using a network port with TCP/IP.
I made several trials to solve this problem:
    - uninstall the printer driver and installing it again (I tried the last version on the HP site and an older one that worked perfectly before)
    - update the firmware of the printer to the last version on the HP site.
When I pause the printer and start the print job, you see it arriving in the list. Resuming the printer, the print starts on the printer but you see that the job stays in the list, flashing again and again. The printer keeps printing the same page.
I don't know what I can do to solve this problem. There is no mean of uninstalling the HP Laserjet 1022n software update because it doesn't appear in the list of installed programs (well on the list of the done updates by the way op windows updates).
I have the same problem printing on the same printer from another Windows  7 PC (with the same windows update done)
But I have no problem printing with my laptop on another network printers.
Is there someone having the same problem and how to solve it ?
    Thanks for answering
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I found the solution on this site : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/59912-29-1022n-printer-stop-printing
You just have to uncheck the chekbox "Enable two-way communication" on the "Ports" tab of the printer properties and it works normally again !!!!

  • Windows 8 printing problem with 2575 printer

My Photosmart 2575 printer worked ok with windows XP on my old Dell computer. On my new Lenovo Windows 8 computer using the usb printer connector there is a problem.
When I try to print a word document it prints the first 6 to 8 lines of the document and then displays "printing"  and hangs, so I have to cancel the print. When I re-try the printing, it again prints 8 or so lines of the documentand, ejects the paper and says "out of paper". When I reload the paper it prints the document successfully.

    @dave_sk, Welcome to the forums!
I read about the troubles you are now having when trying to print from your Photosmart 2575 to your Windows 8 system. I sure hope I can help you through this obstacle and have you printing again!
I would first like to mention the error message you see when trying to print. Here is the troubleshooting guide to work through the "Out of Paper" error, please try all the steps:
HP Deskjet, Photosmart, and PSC All-in-Ones - 'Out of Paper' Error Message and the Printer Does Not ...
Hopefully you can print without the error message however, if you see it again, run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results.
Please write back with the outcome and also the results from running the PSDr.

  • Fonts in linked images cause printing problems

This is not a question as I have already solved this issue, I just wanted to save someone else the time.
Problem: Print job stops half way through document
    Error Code: 49.4C02
Printer: HP line (3 different models)
Program used: InDesign CS6 from Creative Cloud
I had printed this job before and never had an issue. Then one day after many textual edits, the PDF stopped printing and would send the printers into a Fatal error which caused them to reboot. I had no idea what had happened or why. All I could remember changing was text. It was printing on some printers, but none of the printers on my floor. At first I thought the file was corrupt, so I resaved it. And resaved it, and resaved it. I saved it out with every type of export setting. I even replaced vector illustrations with crummy jpeg images. Still, not working. My boss is kind of an important guy for the government, so when he started to get upset, we all started to scramble for a solution.
Research suggested that we update the firmware which did not work.
I was suspicious of potential problem fonts, though it confused me as they had printed before. I opened the PDF and went to Properties > Fonts and saw a Type 1 font. Not familiar with this, I Googled it and after reading a bajillion websites, still could not find the answer in removing it.
Now at this point, I had removed all of that font family (Type > Find Font > Replace), exported, opened PDF, still there! WTF, really? InDesign could no longer find this font.
    Here's what happened.
Well, because in the new CS6, Preflight is no longer something that you have to manually go to, it works automatically similar to dynamic spell checking. My document did not have any errors, but I knew it HAS to have some sort of error. I went to the Preflight window (Window > Output > Preflight), clicked on the menu tab and went to "Define Profiles...". Well, well, well. Because the 'Default' setting put in place by Adobe does not actively have "Font Types Not Allowed" selected, it was not catching the Type 1 font that was causing a day of wasted IT resources and my sanity.
I made a new Profile, checked "Font Types Not Allowed", checked ALL of the "Type 1" options, saved and let it scan. What's this?! 1 error!? Hmmmm... it was coming from a linked .eps file! I opened the file, I must have forgotten to outline the font during all of the changes. And I'm assuming that because the font was linked via an element, that when InDesign went to export all of the fonts, it did not have access or did not know what to do with the font that was in my .eps file, so what it did was turned it INTO a Type 1 font (or as I learned, a PostScript font) and embedded it along with all of my other fonts into the PDF. Which is why when I was trying to find this font earlier, it couldn't be found because it wasn't IN the document, it was LINKED to the document. This font on its own prints fine, but it gets converted to a PostScript font when it is within a linked element within InDesign.
My whole office did a dance of victory once we fixed the problem. Ridiculous. So I hope now, if someone ends up having the same problem I did, now they know where to look to find the problem! It would have saved everyone here some time if the default "basic" preflight wasn't so "basic".

    whitworth916 schrieb:
First off, I was only offering my experience for others who were having similar problems as I did.
    3. Thank you for your opinion. But here's an example of when you should, when you pass the document around and others will open it WITHOUT access to any special fonts you used. Yes, you outline then to keep the font. Yes it's uneditable.
I find your response rather offensive. As if I am a complete fool and am unfamiliar with everything you've mentioned.
It is not only my opinion, when someone has not the used font, please export the file to PDF and send the PDF with embedded fonts. That is the way how missing fonts on the recipients computer are handled. In your case it is a logo, ok, as I mentioned before, in a logo I would outline the font too.
With outlining a font, e.g. in InDesign you loose not only the editibility but also automatic numbers and bullets, frame color & stroke with all effects applied on them, paragraph rulers, underline, strike through and many issues more, also missing metrics can cause a different setting (space between letters) after a font is outlined. And it is also impossible to outline automatic placeholder from the master without releasing them, but releasing them can cause a different order of items and will result in different  text wrapping and a changed layout. If you want these things happen, do it.
Maybe that I am offensive, but I never considered you as a fool.

  • Windows Shared Printer - Problem adding: Error 256

Getting error 256 (username and password) when trying to add a windows printer connected to the LAN which is shared.
Any clues to the proper method of doing this?
    Beavis2084

Unfortunately, I think several things can cause that
error. Please try the Advanced Windows Printer via
    Samba technique:
In Printer Setup, click Add, then hold the option key
and click More Printers, select Advanced from the
bottom of the first menu, select Windows printer via
Samba. Enter the URI like this:
    smb://usernameonPC:password@[IP address of
    PC]/printersharename
I have tried your suggestion but no success. To be clear, I used my Windows XP login name for "usernameonPC" and my server name for "IP address of PC" and my printer pool name for "printersharename". Was this right?
I read elsewhere that I should turn on "Sharing" functions on my PC, which I tried. I also read that I need to make sure I have a "network account" which I tried. Nothing is working. Pretty frustrated now. Thanks for your help. Is there anything else I should be trying?

  • Wired Windows XP Printing Problem to AEBS. HELP!!!!!

I have been trying to figure this out for the past two days. Im basically about to rip my hair out.
I have an old AEBS (the saucer one) with the 5.7 firmware, with an HP Office Jet J5780 connected. I have 2 Macs, both running 10.5.2 connected wirelessly, and everything works fine. They both print no problem.
I also have a Dell desktop with Windows XP SP2 connected to the AEBS via ethernet. I installed Bonjour for Windows and it recognizes and installs the printer. But once I go to print something, it just comes back with a "failed" error.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Bonjour, deleting and re-adding the printer, using different drivers, (i tried using a Generic/Post script driver rather than the actual HP driver, still nothing), resetting the AEBS, and restarting it. I even tried adding the printer manually using a TCP/IP port (10.0.1.1). Still nothing.
Something thats very weird is that if I try to print something from the windows computer, wait for it to fail, THEN restart the AEBS, the document I just sent to print magically prints. But anything I try to print after comes back with the same message. To get anything to print I would have to restart the AEBS every time.
I hope someone out there knows whats wrong! Please help me!!!

I have experienced the exact same problem trying to print from a Windows XP Dell Laptop. We were able to print via the network in the morning and then with no warning it stopped.
One of the many times we attempted to print, I reset the Airport and it did kick out a document that had been sent and "failed to print."

  • Photosmart 2575 & Windows 7 Printing Problem

I bought a new pc and it came with windows 7.  Since then I have had problems with my hp photosmart 2575 printer.  It intermittently prints then starts just printing the first few lines of a page - very slow too.
I have downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it says there is no problem with the printer.
The green light flashes to show that data has been downloaded from the PC to the printer but it just hangs and then a while later will print off the page but just a few lines or gobblygook!
If I turn the pc off and the printer off it seems to reset itself and then a while later it starts doing it again.
I have downloaded the new drivers for Windows 7 - and am at a loss as to why this keeps happening......does anyone have any ideas or suggestions or is it time for a new printer - when it works it is fine!  Frustrating eh!

  • Update to 10.6.7 causes printing problems

Did Apple change the printing framework somehow in this recent update? All the computers in our office now cannot print properly to our Riso HC5500 printer. The same problem also with our Ricoh printer, which would suggest that something in the system changed. I've been able to identify one of the fonts as perhaps problematic with 10.6.7 whereas with prior versions, this font was fine. Thoughts? Anyone else experiencing printing issues?

After updating my iMac Late 2010 i7 to 10.6.7 I had the font problem (fonts are strechted vertically, looks like arabic...) with MyriadPro when printing from Filemaker 9 to my GCC postscript printer. First printout only some letters are corrupted, the second printout is even worse. PDF creation crashes AcrobatPro 9.4.3
This font problem had occured once in 10.6.6 but after running the disk utilty fixing the permissions everythin was ok.
Now, in addition, Indesign CS3 is not printing at all to the Konica-Minolta magicolor 7450 color postscript printer. Result is an error reply from the printer. The same file prints perfectly when printed from my Macbook Air with Leopard on it.
Trying to go back to 10.6.6 with time machine resulted in a grey startup screen with endless circles of the startup carousel bars ( or what that thing is called). Now I am back to 10.6.7 printing all my stuff from the Macbook Air.

  • Mac os x 10.4.11 update -- causes printing problems for Lexmark X1150

What can I do to get back up printing? Lexmark.com doesn't have a driver to support. Apple Care doesn't have answers...
The computer recognizes the printer, and still scans... but no printing...
Any ideas would be most appreciated.....

I experienced exactly the same problems with my Epson CX6600 after upgrading to 10.4.11: the installed USB driver no longer worked ("Communication Error"), and after removing it, the device was not recognized. I tried all of the usual avenues: repaired disk permissions, ran Printer Setup Repair, downloaded new drivers, restarted numerous times, etc. All to no avail.
However, I did succeed in resolving the problem, after following a clue from Console's system.log. The following error message appeared each time the system was booted:
    Feb 16 11:43:28 my-computer kextd: can't find extension with id com.apple.iokit.IOUSBUserClient
Running kextstat revealed that, accordingly, this kernel extension was not being installed on startup as it should be. I resolved the problem by replacing this kext, by deleting the entire /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext tree and replacing it with a vanilla copy from the 10.4.11 combo updater package. This was done using the excellent Pacifist:

  • 8500 w/Vista Windows Photo Printing Problem

My 8500 printer goes to Fax screen every time I try to print a photo from my Windows photo gallery. I have had the printer for about six weeks and it just started doing this. Also, I cannot get the scan feature to work.  Please, can anyone help? I live in a very rural area of Hawaii with very little support available.  Thanks,  and Aloha

You're probably choosing the Managed by Printer "Profile:" in the Print - Print Job sidebar. There are very few printers that work with this Profile due to the internal colorspace of LR. You'll need to add and choose a Printer/Paper profile from this list and turn off color management in the Print Driver.
Another necessary item for display / printer matching are: display calibration

  • Javascript popups that open in same window causing focus problem

I have been using javascript popups in actionscript buttons

This works fine on the first link I open - the new window

    Code used:

  • Newest update caused printing problems

I was using Reader to print some forms this morning and things were fine for the first form, then the program said it wanted to update, so I let it.
    Now it won't print properly.
I had been printing the form in portrait, so it would print at the top half of the page, then I'd flip it and print another set on the other half.
Now when I mark it to print portrait, it prints in the middle of the page.  Just ruins my paper-saving strategy.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your prompt reply.
The update version is: 7.1 Bundle 2108
My carrier is Rogers (canadian version of AT&T)
It's Torch 9810 and it works well on version 7.1 Bundle 1310
    Thanks

  • Auto adjustment of page orientation causes printing issues with documents that have a page width greater than its page height.

    Hi,
Since an upgrade from Word 2003 to Word 2010, we are experiencing printing issues with certain
documents that have a page width greater than its page height.
In Word 2003, it was no problem to set the page width greater than the page height while setting the page orientation to "portrait".
In Word 2010, this seems impossible: despite leaving the page orientation to "portrait", if one changes the page width/height as stated,
Word 2010 automatically adjusts the orientation to "landscape". Resetting the orientation to "portrait" will flip the page's width/heigth settings.
This behaviour causes printing problems: the page prints out 90° rotated.
I do not believe this is a printer driver issue: I tried several different printer drivers, and all give the same (bad) result. Setting the printer driver's page orientation settings (before printing) makes no difference, as
Word 2010 seems to force the page orientation settings.
Inserting the documents 90° rotated is not an option, since it causes problems with the printing margins.
This is very annoying, since we have to print official documents of a municipality (driver's licences).
Is there a workaround for this issue?
