how to download repair of "missing WIA" for officejet J4550 All in one printer

    HI knewsomga,
WIA is Windows Image Acquisition, it is a proprietary Microsoft driver model and application programming interface (API) for Microsoft Windows Me and later Windows operating systems that enables graphics software to communicate with imaging hardware such as scanners, digital cameras and Digital Video-equipment. - Source
     Please follow the instructions below.
Please hold down the windows flag key and the R to open the Run box.
    Type services.msc and press Enter
    Locate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
    Right click and open Properties
Stop the service from the General tab and then Start it again
Verify that the Startup type is set to Automatic rather then manual
Also, look for 'Shell Hardware Detection' in the list of services. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service, and make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically from its properties.
Locate the 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC)' in the list of services. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service, and make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically as well.
If the issue persist, the HP Print and Scan Dr might help, otherwise I suggest contacting Microsoft.

  • Need generic print driver for Officejet 7210 all-in-one on Windows 8.1

Updated my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, which removed my print driver for an Officejet 7210 all-in-one.  Attempted to reinstall.  Error that file not found.  Followed detailed process to a tee (deleted temp files, removed startup programs, everything).  Driver doesn't work but printer does with other computers.  Printer is no longer supported and no help (but is in great working condition).
I'm looking for a generic driver that would work with my printer and Windows 8.1.  I really appreciate any help...

    Hi LChristofaro,
I have researched your error message and the Msiexec.exe error and it is an issue with windows installer. I recommend restarting your windows installer.
    To do this:
    1. Run "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks).
    2. Double-click "Windows Installer" in the Services list.
    3. Click Stop and click OK.
    4. Click Start and click OK.
Restart you computer and try the install again.
Let me know if this helped.
    Thank you,

  • Windows 8.1 will not install the driver for Officejet 6310 All-in-One

Have downloaded the driver from the HP website, but it will not install. The download wizard "detected a problem with the driver software" but did not say how to resolve it. The option to download the software was still available, so I did that anyway. When attempting to execute from my hard-drive, extraction occurs, followed by a delay, and then a message that reads "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way". This is in an error box headed "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library".  Can anyone help please?

    Hi AB-Comp,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that your are seeing the error The download wizard "detected a problem with the driver software". I am happy to help you with this issue! I have some questions for you:
What Operating System are you using? Windows or Mac? What version?
Can you make copies with the printer?
How is the printer connected? Wireless, Ethernet, or USB?
Is the power cable plugged into a surge protector or directly to the wall outlet?
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

  • HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer - G510g installation windows 8.1 64bit

After operating a HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer - G510g  from both an old Windows XP notebook and from an ASUS Windows 8, 64bit laptop, subsequently updated to 8.1; I'm now trying to install it to run from a Toshiba Satellite NB10T-A notebook Windows 8.1 64bit, but without success.
The original installation CD does not provide an installation but on start up (presumably because it is only compatible with Windows XP and 7.
The www.hp.com site offers a download of a full driver for the  printer, forWindows 8.162bit. This seems to download fine. The file unpacks, says it is installing, but on completion the driver is not available.
There are no options to uninstall, either in control panel/printers or in control panel/software.
Without the driver, the Windows 8.1 system recognises the printer and allows simple printing ffrom applications. However, it is not possible to use the scan options, giving the error message that the driver is not available. Neither HP Solution Center or HP Document Manager are installed.
I have tried HP Print and Scan Doctor. This recognises the printer on USB link, says that there are missing drivers, downloads, unpacks and installs drivers. But the printer icon in control panel/printers continues to have an alarm icon and indicates that the printer is still missing drivers.
I have also tried the HP Printer Installation Wizard. The result is similar.
Please advise how I can install the scan options of this equipment and confirm that the machine is compatible with windows 8.1 64bit.
    Thank you

Hello @monc , welcome to the HP forums!
I read through your post about how you cannot scan on your Windows 8.1 computer as the driver and software doesn't seem to be completing successfully on your system. However, you have been able to install the printer and its functioning fine on other computers.
I would suggest checking the Control Panel to see if there are any printer files to uninstall: Uninstalling the Printer Software
    Restart the PC afterwards
    Perform a Clean Boot
    Restart the PC again
Download and install the printer again:  HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver
If you see any error messages or codes during the installation process, make note of the exact problem or error and post me back a screen shot or the details.
    Good luck

  • Printing from 10.6.6 to an HP Officejet 6210xi All-in-One printer

I have a brand new iMac - 27-inch, 3.2Ghz running 10.6.6 - connected to an older printer, an HP Officejet 6210xi All-in-One printer, and I am unable to print.
Running the Printer System Preferences sees the printer via USB, and I install the print-drivers that come with Snow Leopard, but absolutely nothing prints. Trying to print just produces a useless "Error" error-message in the print-queue window, with no detailed explanation as to why.
I have tried downloading and installing the latest MacOS print-driver from HP, but this doesn't help. I can't print a single page.
I assume I should be using the print-drivers that come with Snow Leopard, but I have no idea why printing does not work. I can disconnect the USB cable from the new iMac, and connect it to my older iMac, running 10.4 and printing works fine. So I know that the USB cable and printer are OK. But if I move the USB cable to the new iMac, printing does not work at all.
I have tried different USB ports on the new iMac, I have disconnected all USB cables and restarted the iMac, then re-connected only the USB cable to the printer, but no luck.
Any ideas as to what else I can try?
    Thanks,
    --- Christer

When you say you have installed the latest print driver from HP do you mean from the HP site or do you mean using Software Update/from Apple site?
If you mean the All-in-one package that sits in your app folder try uninstalling that, (there is an uninstaller in it), and then try again with OSX.
I think when you plug in your machine the Mac should recognise your printer and ask if you want to download the appropriate SW.
    So, my steps would be.....
1). Uninstall the HP All in one.
    2).Restart.
3). Plug in to Mac, (and power), and switch on 6210.
4). Wait a few seconds for the Mac to recognise and prompt, or run Software Update.
    ......if still no joy;
    5). Re-apply combo updater.
6). Plug in to Mac, (and power), and switch on 6210.
7). Wait a few seconds for the Mac to recognise and prompt, or run Software Update.
8). Come back and curse/thank me, then go back to the HP site and see if a more up to date package exists

Thanks for responding. What I did today was hard wire the printer to computer. then was able to get my original printer icon back and it was set as the default printer. I deleted the other icons, they were ghosted  and I didn't what to use them. the one was a online printer going back to HP. Now I have to got my son to fix the remaining problem I have, with my messing around I somehow change the Network Name on the printer. He is a computer eng working on high tech cameras and also is the administrator of my machine. He has me locked out of administrative rights and for good reason, I wrecked a couple computers and when he built this one for me that was the rule. There is a little info that I don't have to finalize the last step in changing the Network Name back. I have run the printer from the printer control panel and it did find the correct Network and Network Name but is seemed like that is far as I could go. So I'm not that far from completing this project.

  • HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one printer Cancels Print in Middle of Job

    Hi,
I recently bought an HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one printer, and it automatically cancels jobs in the middle of printing. The computer I am using is an HP Envy dv7 with 64-bit Windows 8, and I am printing over a wireless network connection. My computer receives an error that HP Officejet 4630 series couldn't complete print and the printer simply says canceling. I have tried all the steps in the troubleshooting sections, both for printing issues and network connections. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times, I've established a manual IP, and everything else, but nothing seems to work. It also seems to have the issue when using HP ePrint. It happens in all sorts of programs and formats such as word, pdf, and html. Unfortunately, I did not receive a USB cord, so I can't see if that will fix the problem at all. Hopefully somebody can help me with this, otherwise it's obvious that there's a problem with the actual printer I got and I'm going to have to get something else.
    Thanks
    This question was solved.

This is how I fixed it:
Find out what the IP address is that your printer is using.
Then go to control panel and click on "View Devices and Printers".
Look for your printer an right click.
Click "Printer Properties" and a new screen will open.
Along the top you will see some tabs. Click the one that says "Ports"
    Click "Add Port"
Highlight "Standard TCP/IP Port" by clicking on it, then click "New Port".  A new screen will open.
    Click "Next"
Type in the IP Address of your printer and click "Next"
Your computer should find your printer.
Click "Apply" and your printer should work correctly.
