Windows 2012 & 8.1 ADMX with Windows 7 System

Hello,
We are a Windows 2008R2 & Windows 7 Ent Shop with System Center 2012 R2 & PKI Servers.
We need to deploy 30 Windows 8.1 Enterprise Lenovo Tablets to the field.
Would all our Windows 7 GPO still work if we upgrade/update our Central Store with Windows 2012 & 8.1 Definitions?
Can any problem occur that we should be prepared for?
Thanks!

> will still work if I update my ADMX templates to the newest versions.
Existing GPOs don't take care of ADM(X) templates as long as you don't
edit them, so yes, they will continue to work perfectly.
THere was an issue in WIndows Vista with ADMX from WIn7 or above (Vista
doesn't support the new reg_multi_sz possibilities introduced with W7),
but W7/W8/W8.1 all support the newest ADMX templates.

Can someone advice me on the below.
    1. How to RDP my windows server 2012 from my Windows 7 with " Firewall disabled" & "Firewall Enabled" conditions

    Hi,
Just make sure that the firewall is disabled in all three profiles Domain/Private/Public.
Create a incoming UDP rule on firewall to allow port 3389 and give a try.

  • Boot Camp not working with Windows 8 System Builder

I have a 21.5 inch late 2012 iMac running 10.9.1, and purchased Windows 8 System Builder to install with Boot Camp. I also have an external Samsung DVD writer for the Windows disk and a 16-gig USB thumb drive for the support software.
Because I have the external DVD, I did not select the Boot Camp Assistant option to create an ISO image. Boot Camp proceeded through several steps, downloading the software and partitioning the drive. But it hangs up at the black screen, after I boot from the Windows disk. Error: "Couldn't find BOOTMGR."
It seems that people with similar problems are finding they have to create a bootable USB <http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1511982>. But I don't understand how to do this step. Can somebody explain the process / what to look for on the DVD? Or do I have to download something, in which case I keep being led to this <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/hh699156.aspx> but I need Windows 8 and not 8.1.
    Thanks for any help.

    UPDATE
I have made a lot of progress. Windows is now running and trying to install. It identifies the various partitions but says that I cannot install Windows on the Boot Camp partition or any other. I select Drive options (advanced) and Format the Boot Camp drive, but it makes no difference.
    This is the Windows error:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer BIOS menu.
Would appreciate any help. I installed Windows on an older Mac years ago without much trouble.

    Hi Jeff/Torsten,
    Thanks for the revert.
Just to inform you that I need to Create fresh Distribution Point on Windows 7 systems as above technet link is used once you have setup distribution points if you need not have to utilized your 128kbps bandwidth in that scenario I can prestage the content
and copy that content on remote DP.
Please correct me if I'm  wrong.

Why SCOM doesn't recognized that the agent have operating system?

    Hi,
On workgroup servers, you have to make sure you've used the momcertimport tool to import the certificate into the SCOM service.
In addition, I would like to suggest you go through the below article to monitor non-domain servers with SCOM:

  • Can I obtain a CD-ROM with the latest revision of Adobe Reader for a Windows XP system w/ Service Pack 3. I do not want to go online with this system. I have dedicated it to read all of my PDF Files only.

I have 4 computer systems, 2 of which run under Windows XP w/ Service Pack 3. I have dedicated these systems to the task of reading all of my PDF Files which I have collected from my recent college career. The desktop system I want to use is an old Dell Optiplex GX240 with Acrobat Reader 4.0. The other Windows XP system I have is an old HP Laptop with Adobe Reader 8.1.4 installed. I want to update both systems to the latest version that is available for Windows XP w/Service Pack 3 installed. So, because I do not want to place these system online, would it be possible for me to obtain a copy of the Adobe Reader software I need on a CD-ROM? - Ken DeWitt, a 68-Year-Young Vietnam Veteran and recent college graduate...Summa Cum Laude.

My Windows 7 Professional desktop system hard disk got corrupted and I took the opportunity to install an SSD for a new system disk and reinstall Windows.  The system is up and running on the SSD, with my old system disk now used for storage as it is still readable.  The only Adobe product I have reinstalled so far is Reader XI but I would like to reinstall Elements 8 and Acrobat 9 without taking up more licences as both are also installed on my laptop.  Can you point me to the best way to do this?  - Thanks

  • I have a problem with installing PS13 as I get an error message "This installer does not support installation on a 64-Bit Windows operating system. Please download the 64-Bit version of Photoshop Elements." how do i do this?

i have a problem with installing PS13 as I get an error message "This installer does not support installation on a 64-Bit Windows operating system. Please download the 64-Bit version of Photoshop Elements." how do i do this

Try downloading the trial. It ought to detect that you have a 64-bit system.
You aren't using Vista, are you? PSE 13 requires at least win 7 and I think a few folks with vista have gotten a similar error message on trying to install it.

  • Windows 8.1 need help with Windows Updates and Start menu Or fix my old Windows Xp system

My beloved windows Xp has gave up after many years of working well. It stopped working a few days ago after a lightening strike.
I got this Windows 8.1 computer a few month ago  but it seems to have a problem. I stopped using it after could not get start menu to work and when back to my Windows XP system.
First problem is the start menu is not there. I tried installing something and it says it will take control or something and screen goes black. I clicked canceled quickly in order not to get a virus.
    Where is the start menu?
Second problem, Windows updates does not want to update because it needs Windows 8.1 update. This computer is already Windows 8.1. There I canceled it since it was mostly a virus. Now updates are not working.
If those can not be fixed, how can i fix my Windows Xp to get it back. It does not turn on, I press button and nothing happens. Is this something easy to fix?

Another user discovers that Windows 8.1 is not at all of what it should be.
There is no Start Menu in Windows 8 or 8.1.  However, you can restore your desktop start menu with a very good freeware application:
    Classic Shell
Windows Update comes with Windows 8.1.  There is nothing special you have to do.
It kind of sounds like you've been a bit too quick to download and run whatever you find on the Internet.  You should always research any software you're considering downloading/installing ahead of time.  Google it.  See what others say
about it.  Ask on forums.  In order to use Windows effectively and safely you need to expand your knowledge and become a more sophisticated user.
If you think your new system has become infected, you might want to consider Refreshing or Resetting it to a clean state, or at least visiting one of the anti-malware forums and getting some advice on cleaning it up.  But beware, a lot
of "blind leading the blind" happens on forums.  Always try to read between the lines, and question what people say.
You could consider leaving XP behind.  Its time has come and gone, and pretty much any newer version of Windows can actually give you better service than XP - once you get it tuned up.
It's possible to make Windows 8.1 more functional than XP and about as functional as Windows 7, but it takes a fair bit of effort in reconfiguration and installation of some well-known 3rd party applications that are good (which, unfortunately, most
    on the internet are not).
    Good luck to you.

  • Is it possible to build a project with Labview 2010 on a Windows XP system, that is useful for a system with windows 7 on it?

    Hi there,
I am planning to use Labview 2010 in a short time.
But before I'm going to use it I have some questions.
I know it is possible to run Labview 2010 in an XP environment. But is it also possible to, when running Labview 2010 on a XP system, to build a project to a version that is useful in a Windows 7 environment?
Or do I have to run Labview 2010, when I want to build a project that is useful on a Windows 7 system, on a system with Windows 7?
    Please give me some information.
I hope to hear from one of you soon.

  • I installed lv 6.1 on a windows 98 system. As I am having problems of stability (much more than with the former release 6.0), I would like to know if there is some specific problem with windows 98 or there is some patch.

I installed lv 6.1 on a windows 98 system. As I am having problems of stability (frequent crashes, much more than with the former release 6.0), I would like to know if there is some specific problem with windows 98 or there is some patch available.

My experience with Win98 is that it is not a very stable system, regardless of software used. For example, Win2000 and XP are far more stable than 98. I've had it crash on its own if I leave the computer on for several days.
I wouldn't recommend running programs for long time (few days) on this OS.
This being said, can you be more specific in your question. What kind of stability problems did you have, which VIs did you run (if possible post them here), did you change the interrupts and priority levels on those VI, do you get error messages or blue screen....

  • IPop Use with different operating systems Windows And Mac Osx

so the quetion is this can i use my IPod with different Operatin systems?
I have a MacBook at home where i keep all my Music in and at the office i have a Windows network i would like to carry some music from home to the office using my IPod. I thought that a solution is to Partition my Ipod 40G in 2 parts and have one of them FAT so that my Windows operating system can view it.
Did any of you done it? and if so How? did you loose the use of some of the IPod functions?
let me Know if there are ways to carry music using your Ipod from the MacOSX to Windows Prof or home edition thanks!
    Donatello

Your problem has nothing to do with data vs music. Music IS data. I've used my iPod for data and music since the first iPod was released. There's no reason to think the two OS versions are involved either.
Look at your usage practices - and I'm not necessarily suggesting you are abusing your computer. Has one of your computers crashed while the iPod was connected? This could cause data damage that might explain the problem. Have you ever disconnected the iPod without un-mounting it first?
You might also be creating fragmentation problems if you frequently add and remove data files while at the same time adding and removing music. One decision I made when I was using my iPod to transport lots of movies and photos for a project was to NOT make any music changes during that busy two week period.
