Windows 2012 Master FSMO DC lost connection to other DC's after DNS was lost

Hi. I'm hoping someone has a resolution to my issue. I've recently added a new VMware Windows 2012 DC server to replace an existing DC1 Server with a memory leak. I also successfully added the Master FSMO roles to this new server and renamed
the server to DC1. I did at least 6 checks that the replication was successful with DC2 before rebooting. However, upon rebooting I discovered that the DNS tables in DC2 were incomplete. Once the DNS was restored the VM's were working fine
however, now it appears that DNS and DHCP are fine but the FSMO roles on DC1 and connection to DC2 are no longer working. I've tried running ntulis, and netdom with no success. I'm afraid until I get the connection back to the network and the FSMO
roles re-established finishing the renaming of this domain controller may be premature. Any advise at this point would be great as I'm unsure whether or not to abandon this server and start from scratch or try to salvage the work I've already put in.

I'm not sure I follow your renaming steps. But, I think the issue might be that your clients are still pointing to the IP address of the original DC1. Therefore, any DNS record updating would not be directed to the IP address of your
new DC1. Clients tend to rely on fixed IP addresses to find the DNS server, not a DNS name, which would be a bit of a catch-22.

Outlook lost connection when load balanced CAS array name was moved to different AD site and data centre

At the weekend our F5 load balanced CAS array name was moved to our 3rd datacentre and all users lost access to Outlook. The databases were running on DAG2 listed below at the time.
We have 3 DAG servers configured as the following:
DAG SERVER ONE (DAG1) | Datacentre 1 | Primary AD Site | Multi role server MBX, CAS, HT
DAG SERVER TWO (DAG2) | Datacentre 2 | Primary AD Site | Multi role server MBX, CAS, HT
DAG SERVER THREE (DAG3) | Datacentre 3 | Secondary AD Site | Multi role server MBX, CAS, HT
We primarlily run from DAG1 or DAG2 - DAG3 is for real DR and loss of Datacentre 1 and 2. The CAS array "Outlook" is configured for the primary AD site load balanced across DAG1 and DAG2.
We use an F5 load balancer that balances the connections across DAG1 and DAG2, if both fail then DAG3 is used automatically. We have tested and it works fine simulating loosing DAG1 and DAG2 and bringing up as a 1 node cluster on DAG3 with a
FSW and the load balancer pointing at DAG3 for Outlook connections.
For some reason this stopped Outlook users connecting - can anyone advise me why as I have been asked to test this again and I was expecting it to work?

As far as I know, For Exchange 2010 before SP2 RU3,the Outlook clients with an existing Outlook profile would continue to use the old RPC endpoint rather than the new RPC endpoint (even though Autodiscover detected the change). Thus, except with Andy's suggestion,
I recommend you can also repair or recreate the Outlook profile to have a test.

Lost Connection To Airport Extreme HD after Upgrading to Lio

Since installing Lion, I cannot access a specific HD connected to my Airport Extreme. It locks up the computer with a permanent spinning beach ball. All of the others on the network - not running Lion - connect to that drive as usual without difficulty.
Complicating things, from the Lion computer, I can access another HD without difficulty connected to the same Airport Extreme. In other words, connecting to one specifc harddrive is a problem. It's a WD 2TB USB.
Help appreciated.

Lost connection to other computers using 'LinkSys' router

DSL modem is connected to my Linksys wireless router. I have two other computers connected using an Ethernet cable (coming from the router). Yesterday my internet (SBC-Yahoo DSL) was down for the entire day. In the past both computers connected to the router would work just fine. In fact the laptop would work either connected via the Ethernet cable or with a wireless connection. Today neither of the computers connected to the router will connect. I have not changed any of the settings on either computer. Have reset the DSL modem (turned off and back on) and have reset the router (reset button). Any suggestions on this problem?

Can you connect to the router?
Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1
Verify the configuration options.
Also make note of the firmware version.
Then, for the moment, bypass the router and direct connect to the modem. Can you connect to internet then?
If so, check the Linksys web site to see if there is a firmware update for your router.
On my (wired) Linksys, after one of the OS updates (I forget which one) I could no longer get to internet until I updated the firmware on the router.
Since there has been an OS security update in the last week, and if you downloaded/installed it, then your problem began, its possible that is the problem.

Updated iphone 5 from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2 lost connection, then could not activate after restore

bought an ipone 5 from an apple store in Orlando. used it with T-mobile in Vienna without a problem until I updated it from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2. the phone kept "searching" for the signal, but was not able to connect. Then I wanted to "restore" the phone. but this time the phone started giving me "can not activate iphone" error.
*restoring was finished, iphone is opening, after seeing the apple symbol, choosing the country, language and the wifi network then its giving the error. I tried restoring it from itunes in a restore mode but still didnt work

Ok after reading a few posts I relalise you can not down grade os on iphones and never have been able to.
But how come I can't factory reset my phone properly? sure factory reset will mean it will reset the phone and its os to the os that it built with with was ios5?

I can no longer connect with others using FaceTime after the mandatory update

I updated my iPad software and now when I try to connect with someone using FaceTime I can never fully connect.
Can anyone help me or seen this issue?

Connecting old Harddisk to PB after it was changed

Hi!
I am trying to connect my old Harddisk to my Powerbook G4, 1,67 Ghz.
I had to change Drives recently and now i want to download my old Data to my PB.
I am connecting it with an 2,5" IDE to USB Adapter to my PB.
But it won't be shown in the Finder.
I suppose there isn't enough Power from the USB to start up the Harddisk.
Funny enough if i connect it to a PC-Laptop it will start.
Any Help is appreciated.

Hi,
If the adapter does not have a separate power connection, a self-powered USB hub could possibly be of help here.
If absolutely necessary, a PC could be used as an intermediary for document files (but a special utility, such as TransMac or MacDrive, would be needed in order to read the Mac-formatted disk).

Lost my email on my iPad after iPad was restored???

Yesterday, an Apple tech. helped me restore my Apple iPad. It had stopped working. We went through iTunes and restored it. It seems fine other than I do not have Email any longer. I don't know what to do to get it back. The settings look ok but I don't really know the difference. Can anyone help me figure out how I can get my email to work again on my iPad?????? Thank you.

6500 closes ssh connection upon any typo's, after DNS lookup attempt.

Everytime I enter a command that isn't a command, the switch attempts a lookup which fails, then it boots me. Is this a known issue?

I can avoid this by not typing in non-commands, but thought I'd ask. 8) its a bit annoying.

This sounds a lot like CSCsc91824. The trigger doesn't match exactly, but I wonder if the fact it's trying to look up a host could be tickling this bug. Certainly the code fix is more generic than fixing the SSH cipher code. The fix has been integrated into 12.2(33)SXH5, so you might try an upgrade to see if it fixes the problem. The problem is limited to SSH, though. If you're seeing the same behavior in telnet, it would definitely be a different cause.

MY granddaughter lost her iPod and we have tried the Find My Phone app, but it starts out saying "this iPod is online,But can not b e located." Then, once it has quit spinning, it. says " this. iPod cant be ant be located it because it is not online". I saw her w/it in her room before school, and. Then it just disappeared. Apple Wireless Keyboard lost connection when "command+space" is pressed

Hi, my apple wireless keyboard lost connection when command and space key was pressed. it does not lost connection when other keys combination was pressed. Are there any people has the same problem with me?
I am using Emacs all the time, the command and space key is the default short cut for Mark in Emacs. It is constantly used in my daily work. The wireless keyboard does not lost connection always, but it does lost connection sometimes. I have observed every time it lost connection, the command + space was pressed. Really strange. Any advice?

Got the keyboard working again, here how incase it can help anyone else:
I borrowed a USB keyboard to allow me to get past the pasword login.
First I rang disk utitlity to repair any permissions. I opended up the app 'Bluetooth Setup Assistant' selected 'Keyboard' then I turned the keyboard 'on' so the green light is flashing' and then hit continue. At this point the keyboard appears in the listing of found items, hitting continue I am then given a unique pairing code. Enter this on the keyboard and hit 'Return' after a few seconds, the pairing is complete and by wireless keyboard is back and working again!

Problem installing Crystal Reports 2013 on a Windows 2012 R2 server

Sheesh. One of my users needs crystal reports and still uses it weekly. It's time to update off of an old 2003 server so I setup a new Windows 2012 R2 server so that she and others can RDP into it and use the application and reports (it's a payroll thing so they want limited access).
So - totally plain vanilla Windows 2012 R2 install. Then make sure I have all the .net stuff installed in the windows features.
But, whenever I run the setup.exe from the downloaded ZIP file from the sap store I get:

I can't find any information on this! I have found a similar message that refers to a 2011 install that was fixed with a SP9? But this machine has no current install. I did buy the full version two days ago online from the sap store.

There is an older C++ library that you need that is not available by default on Win 2012. You can get the install for this here:

Also, be sure you're logged in with Administrator rights, the right-click and "Run as Administrator" when you run setup. You might also have to turn off the Windows Firewall when you run the install (you can turn it back on again after the install is complete.)

Printer just lost connection

I have been using an Appletalk network printer and this morning it has lost connection!?!?! I just printed to it a few days ago. It is a Xerox printer running through our network here at work. Nothing happened to the actual printer... it is still up and running. This printer is in a work enviroment and can be accessed from other computers in the office. It is weird because I have a different printer that I also use on the network and 2 days ago I lost connection to it as well. I was able to get that connection back. This one won't reconnect though....... I am using a G5 desktop computer running 10.4.5, which I need to upgrade to 10.4.6 but I don't think this has anything to do with it, I use this printer all the time. I have run disk utilities and have deleted and added the printer several times. I did get this while the printer was trying to connect when I added a new one.... nbp_sendfailed got=-1 ...... I have pinged the IP address and it works fine....
Any help would be greatly appreciated......

I just had the exact same problem. Printed a couple of hours ago, then nbp_sendfailed error message when I tried to add any printer in the building. None of my existing printers will work.

I have run Disk Utility and Disk Warrior.
Any other suggestions would be very helpful.
