Windows 7 and windows 8 desktop wired and 7510e printer connected to win 7 wireless

I have a windows 7 64 bit HPavilion Elite 150f desktop set up wired with a 7510e photosmart printer connected to it wireless, now I  have purchased a windows 8 desktop HP envy 700-019 desktop.
When I set up my new windows 8 desktop I  just plugged it into my wireless router/modem combo and it found my printer and I could just print from it, I did not download any software or drivers for my printer or set up a home group as I was not sure how to set it up but last night I tried to set up a homegroup,
I used my wireless network key and entered it and pressed connect, then I entered the Homegroup password that was downloaded for me from Microsoft, but my windows 7 says homegroup and my windows 8 shows private network so I am not sure what I have done wrong, I chose to only share music and printers, can anyone tell me how to do this correctly as I am not sure that I have done it properly.
On my windows 8 I can go to my printers web site by entering the static IP address that cloud support set up for me and it shows as connected but I do not want to enter any printer code as that is already set up on my windows 7, I can also scan to email on my windows 8 but I am not sure what if any security I have on my windows 8. The last time I had a homegroup set up I payed someone to do it for me so I did it by guess work more than anything, if someone can lead me through it step by step I would appreciate it.

Hi @emma22
I would like to do my best to help, but please bear in mind the issue you are expressing is an inquiry for Microsoft not HP. I did find something I think will be most helpful, and I hope it resolves the issue, but if the issue persists, or you have additional questions, it might be best to reach out to the Microsoft community.
Here is what I found; HomeGroup from start to finish.
In the top right hand corner of the article, you can change it from WIndows 7 to Windows 8. I hope this helps.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • TCP Timeouts in Native Windows 7 64-bit (wired and wireless)

I am having some major headaches with this new laptop in regards to network stability.  I have a W510 4318CTO with the Ultimate-N 6300 AGN adapter.  Here is what I'm seeing:
Prior to installing Virtual PC/XP Mode, whenever I am browsing the web or accessing samba shares, I occasionally get spurts of timeouts.  Sometimes the timeouts are inescapable, but oddly enough the issue surfaces less after a hibernation than after a reboot or shutdown/start.  Google Docs is one thing that is especially unstable.  Either the icons don't load or the style sheet doesn't load or I can't click on anything or I can't save a document or open a document.  This happens across all browsers when run in regular old Windows 7.  I tried adjusting affinity and resetting tcp and reinstalling the network drivers and scanning for malware and yada yada yada.
I have made queries on Microsoft Connect and TechSupportForum and nothing I've tried is helping.  This problem doesn't happen on my XP desktop at all, and very strangely, this doesn't happen in XP Mode on the same laptop at the same time as the issue surfaces in native win7.  If I ping the gateway, I get timeouts at the same time as the issue manifests and I get longer response times when making network requests.  I have been hammering this issue for the entire month and can't get past it.  I've tried uninstalling Lenovo's Access Connection tool and that didn't help either.   I tried this over the 82577LM gigabit wired adapter as well and have the same issues but they occur less than in wireless mode (which I would expect).
I am quite an expert on Windows, but this issue has brought me to my wits end.  I am an inch away from blowing the preinstall away and starting from scratch, but I just don't want to invest so much time in reinstalling everything.  I've had enough trouble with working around power management issues on this new laptop and I just want this fixed.
If you can solve this, I would be forever grateful.  I feel like I'm in the empty hell of a network admin's nightmare.
    - Steve

    Hello,
If go into the Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), select View→Show Hidden Devices and examine the Non-Plug and Play Drivers tree, are there any old device drivers left over from previously installed security or connectivity software?  If so, perhaps one of those is the culprit and disabling or uninstalling it will solve the problem.
Another possibility is that the automatic network tuning enhancements (a feature first introduced in Windows Vista) in Windows 7's network stack are changing the TCP window size until it reaches a value which is incompatible with your router.  That is fairly simple to test, though:  Open an elevated Command Prompt (filename: CMD.EXE) and issue a "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled" command and see if that makes any difference.  If that makes no difference, repeat the Netsh command with "autotuning=enabled" to restore the previous values and we can continue troubleshooting.

  • Windows XP Home can't find HP printer connected via Ethernet

I posted this on the Bonjour forum, but this might be a better place for it. So:
We just got an HP Photosmart D7260, which I've connected to our network via Ethernet.
My MacBook and Kittendaddy's eMac found it with no problem, but when I boot into XP Home, the Printer Wizard can't find it, and Bonjour sees it but can't find the correct driver (even though I've installed it). When I click on "Have disk", it takes me to the disk contents but I can't seem to find the file it wants.
    Any ideas?
God, why is everything so complicated when it comes to Windows? It drives me crazy, I tell you.

  • Printing to a printer connected to a wireless DSL Router (BT Home Hub)

Hi as a newbie (sub 1 week) to apple and wishing I had started years ago (all the family want mac now) I have managed to do everything I want except integrate my network printer.
I have a BT Home Hub which supports network printing on a specific IP address, all the families windows based pc's laptops can print to 192.168.1.253. I have tried scouring the internet for clues and apples support pages but found nothing that works.
I am connecting to the hub using airport and can see other pcs on the network, so sharing windows based files isn't a problem.
    Nay help is gratefully received

No, the problem wasn't ever solved. So I compromised and finally hooked up the free printer that came with my Mac. Although I wasn't able to share a printer, I was able to access files and print them kind of the hard way by enabling windows sharing under Sys Prefs > Sharing > Windows Sharing. And then you need to click on accounts and enter your password. Then use the key that the Mac gives you (Should be something like \\192.168.1.1##\shortname) and then on your PC, go to "My Network Places" and click on "Set up a network place." When prompted choose to enter the location yourself and enter the number address given on the Mac. After that a box should pop up asking you for your name and password (which is that of the Mac) and then you should be able to access all of the files that are on your Mac from your PC and print directly that way. Hope that helped someone. And if anyone can still help me print wirelessly, please do!

  • Using apple base station now, but the other 3 windows based computers couldn't find the printer connected to apple base station

When I am trying to add a new printer on my iMac, the search result will show:
    HP Photosmart C6200 series
and there is no problem to add this printer to the iMac.
But when I am trying to add a new printer on my other windows based computers, the search result will show nothing. So I shared the printer on my iMac, and the search result will show:
    HP Photosmart C6200 series @ XXXXX's iMac
and there is no problem to add this shared iMac printer to the windows based computers.
I just don't understand. Can anyone explain this to me?
    Thanks a lot.
    Karen

You and at least one other that I know of locally. All this happened after the latest Airport update.
Interestingly, last week, three of us who use Mac laptops were unceremoniously dumped from our small office network's wireless router (non-Apple). When we tried to reconnect it kept asking for a password - none of the PC users are having this problem - and I HATE that!! Before this we all connected immediately with no problems.
I'm still running my home-based Airport Extreme Base Station and Airport Express on a non-passworded network - the only way we can get online, still.
Hope Apple wakes up and realizes there are a few problems with this release.
    Rachel.

  • HP Deskjet 3050A-J611a - laptop wireless - desktop wired possible to print from it?

I just bought the HP Deskjet 3050A-J611a and installed it wireless on my laptop. (printer is in another room) We also have a desktop computer (in my daughter her room) which is connected to the internet with a cable. I was wondering if it would be possible to also print from the desktop computer without having to use a wireless Wifi USB stick or something. (the modem is right next to the computer so preferably we would like to leave it wired)  Maybe there is a way to print using the modem as the connection? Thanks in advance
    This question was solved.

    Hi Michelle150573,
You can share the printer from the laptop, but the most reliable way to install it on the desktop would be to infest in a wireless USB adapter, and then install it wirelessly to her computer. Wireless USB adapters run from $10 to $30 on newegg.com

  • CUCiMOC and CUCiLync desktop sharing and conferencing

    Hi Guys,
Can someone please advise when we install CUCiMOC or CUCiLync does it also disable the "desktop sharing" feature of MOC/Lync client? I have read few blogs on this and getting conflicting answers
Also, my understanding is CUCiMOC or CUCiLync can still use CUCM (DSP's in ISR) for adhoc audio conferencing, however for Web, Video and scheduled audio conferencing we need to implement Meeting Place and Webex...is that correct?
    Thanks
    Aamir

    Hi Aamir,
desktop sharing should still be available, It has nothing to do with it. You should disable any audio or video conferencing solution on Lync in order to have the better experience with CUCILync. This does not mean it will disable desktop sharing

  • Upgraded to Yosemite and I can't use my printer connected to WD MYNET n750 using their WD print share. Any help?

  • Maxx Hotspot won't play nice with an IPad, Win7 laptop, and XP desktop.  If the IPad connects to the hotspot first, it seems to lock the laptop out of an internet connection.  Does anyone have a fix for this?

I recently had to replace my Razr Maxx with a newer model.  XT1080 8984  The older model would handle multiple connections without a problem.  However, the newer model (and newer OS?) has some sort of conflict between the IPad and the Win7 Laptop.  I've spent a day getting the laptop connected to the internet and don't have a great deal of confidence that the connections won't fail in a moments notice.
    Any suggestions or solutions?
    Thanks

Thanks for all the extra details, shkc. While the occasional reboot is a good idea on any device, we certainly don't want you to need multiple restarts either. Try deleting the WiFi connection on all the connected devices. Then on your Maxx, go to Menu>Settings>More (under Wireless & Networks)>Tethering & Mobile Hotspot>Mobile Hotspot Settings>Configire Mobile Hotspot. First, change the Network Name to something a bit different with no special characters. Also, change the Broadcast Channel from Auto to a specific number, such as 10. Then save your changes and create the WiFi connection from the beginning on each of your connected devices.

  • WRT54GL unable to access wired shares or printer on PC from wireless iMac

The subject line applies to a new router on which I can access the internet ok both from the wired PC and the wireless iMac.
The problem is this router is unable to access the PC shares or printer from the iMac. Pls note, "this router"!
I have an identical WRT54GL v1.1, same firmware, setup is identical on both, one works with no problem, but the new one has the above problem..
I have spent a day on it and its in line for return on Monday, but I still hope for a miracle tip which may sort it out :-)
On the good one 'Port scan' of the PC from iMac gives me:
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 192.168.1.100
    Open TCP Port: 139
    Open TCP Port: 445
while the faulty one gives me:
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 192.168.1.100
    ..and thats it! No contact.
Yes, the router is set up for 'Lan & Wireless' (no way to change that setting to 'WAN only' it seems, it bounces back to 'Lan & Wireless')
I have btw done a Factory Reset on it (twice) with no joy.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Mvh

My first guess for this kind of problem would be a software firewall on the computer. The firewall will detect where it is connected and configures the settings depending on the location. Two routers are two different "locations". Try turning off the firewall or even better deinstall it as often some parts of those software firewalls are still active when turned off.
The only option that does affect access of wireless clients to the LAN is the "AP Isolation" option on the "Advanced Wireless Settings". That should be off.
Another thing you could try if you like: do a configuration backup on the working router and restore it to the faulty one. Maybe there are some settings that don't match and that you cannot configure through the web interface. Have you ever used a 3rd party firmware on either of the routers?

  • HT201269 Transferred from iPhone 3GS to 4. Backed up and restored, perfect. New phone is connected to our wireless but is still giving me the "no service" in the upper left corner. Help????

Transferred from iPhone 3GS to 4. Backed up and restored smoothly. Still getting a "no service" message in the upper left corner of new phone. Help?.....

Sounds like your iPhone was hacked to unlock and now updating locks back to the original carrier.
Where did you get the iPhone?

  • I have a macbook air that is not connecting to the internet correctly.  I've had it connected for three weeks, it went into sleep mode, and will not reconnect.  It will connect to other wireless routers (I've tested it) but not the one at my apartment.

The problem is not happening with any other device that I have.  My iPad, iPhone and another laptop all connect fine.  In fact, it's not even the connection.  The computer will connect to the net.  It just will not open any page.  It starts to open and then hangs and hangs.  It will not move.  Weird since it worked great for three weeks and then all of the sudden, nothing.  Click on Safari and I have short hope that it will move and NOTHING!  Any thoughts why it would hang up like this and only with this specific network?

This is a known Lion issue, hopefully solved in 10.7.3. But may not be solved immediatly after updating, that was my case.
To make it work i followed those steps.
    1.- Restart
    2.- Lion 10.7.2 Update
    3.- Uninstall netwokrs
    4.- Shut down
    5.- SMC reset
    6.- Reinstall networks
I dont know whether all the above steps are necessary, but for me the update didn't work properly before SMC reset. (I am running a MBA mid2011)
    Hope it helps,
    Cheers

  • Blackberry Desktop Software slows down Network Connectivity on Win 7 start up

    Hi,
I am new so be gently..lol
I am running windows 7 64bit Home Premium. I recently noticed that on start up my PC was taking between 10 and 20 seconds to set up it's network connectivity, which previously was almost instant. There were no erros within the event logs to suggest why this was occuring. The last thing installed was the blackberry desktop manager. I uninstalled this, and found that my network connectivity was now occuring almost instantly again.
Is this a know issue with this software? I have searched the forum but cannot find anything simliar, only people saying it was slowing down start up as a whole which is not what is happening to me.
Thanks for any help or advice in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, if you have installed the RIM DTM software to auto-start every time you boot your PC, the boot time will increase. Personally, I've found no reason to allow DTM to auto-start...I only launch it when I need it.
