Windows 7 Fails to Start-Up on MBP/Snowleopard

I have a MBP running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 that is fully up to date. I have installed Windows 7 without any issues during the installation but the computer cannot startup in Windows. When I try I just get the flashing cursor for multiple minutes and then goes to the screen where I have the options to boot in safe mode, normal etc etc. I have deleted and repartitioned my HD 3 times now all with the same issues. Why is it that Windows 7 fails to start-up and is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance

    PLEASE HELP!
My Lenovo SL500 is not working at all - I get error: "Windows Vista failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause"
I tried the following on my Lenovo:
Windows repair menu = "windows cannot be repaired"
    Lenovo Rescue and Repair
Rescued my files from Hard-drive (copied to external hdd)
    Restore System = Failed
Diagnose hardware = HDD passes all tests
Don't know what else to do with = Boot from another device ? Access BIOS?
Because I do not have the windows vista install disks
I purchased and downloaded the recovery disks from neosmart.net
The neosmart windows vista recovery disks DO NOT WORK = Error is "Unable to find any valid Windows partitions on this computer".
The Hard-drive exists because I was able to back-up files from HD through (Lenovo Rescue & Recovery Rescue files). So there is a hard-drive.
I don't know what to do next?
Last resort is to Factory Restore via either the Lenovo R&R or Windows Vista Recovery Disks (neosmart)?
    Will I still have windows?
    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi, Josemne
Yes, if you can restore the system through Rescue & Recovery, then you will still have WIndows on your machine, but all your files will be deleted from the hard drive. Luckily, you have already saved those files elsewhere. I would recommend trying to restore the system and see if that works.
    Best,
    Adam

  • Bridge CS3 (Windows XP) fails to start because Symlib.dll was not found

Bridge CS3 (Windows XP) fails to start because Symlib.dll was not found? How do I fix this? I've re-installed and the auto updater has run...I even downloaded and ran the patcher application? By the way Bridge CS3 doesn't show up in the CS3 program list in the start menu but it is installed in my program files - I've tried launching it directly from there as well. Bridge CS2 is operating just fine.
Update: I installed and ran the Adobe Support Advisor, resulting in - Issues: "The module found no solutions to report for the selected log file."
I tried to package the report and the error read: "The size of the package is too large to be handled with the current configuration! Please contact Adobe Support for additional information."
I opened a web based report/case number at the Adobe Support Portal about the missing Symlib.dll (including the Adobe Support Advisor error). Their response was: We regret to inform you that complimentary support for your product is not available and/or has expired.

Did Bridge work before? If so, reset preferences by holding down the Ctrl key when starting Bridge. If successful you will get a Reset Window, choose all 3 options.

I have a Toshiba Equium A300D-16C and all of a sudden it starts up and goes onto windows boot manager and says that Windows has failed to start and it wont let me do anything else.
I really dont know what to do and all my uni work is on it.
It says to put the windows installation disk but its not responding to any disks what so ever.
If anyone could help Id be grateful

    hi Lashay
guessing you have xp on this unit try to reinstall bootfiles.
seems that windows has lost some files...
this could be software or a hardware issue...
"fixboot " and "fixmbr" on recovery console should do this job.
safest way is to get a new hdd and a hdd-usb-adapter!
install operating system on the new hdd,
then connect the old hdd using the usb-adapter to the new system and transfer all user files.
not the system files or maybe you will get the same trouble again!
if there is a serious problem on the hdd its getting worse with every attemp to read the disk...

What I have tried so far:
Windows recovery of the disk that was in the box. Tried auto recovery and the last working state. No go. It wants me to reload Windows or do Advance load. I do not want to lose my personal data.
Took the hard drive out and put it into a Windows 8 with USB adapter. It comes up but the main drive is encrypted with HP secure.
Now the plan is to make an Image of Windows 7 and try to recover it of the DVD. I phoned a PC shop and they will charge me R430 to recover the data and same amount to put Windows 7 on again.
Thank you for the help. I had this new lap top for less than a month.

  • Windows 7 fail to start, no safe mode, no other options with F2, F12 or F8 etc etc

I have a newish Toshiba Pro/P300 laptop that came with Vista but I, perhaps foolishly, had a 'genuine' copy of Windows 7 Home put on it. It worked fine for 2 years then it started crashing for the past month(to save the disk/data supposedly) daily but just
recently it finally shut completely and gave the message below. I have attempted EVERYTHING to get into safe mode(cannot!) to get to the 'repair' window(cannot!). Tried F2, F8, F12 but it always comes back to this message and status code. I can get into
Set-up screen(BIOS) and have changed the thing to 'Compatability' but it made no difference. Not sure if I can do anything else in set-up. I do have the Toshiba Product Recovery DVD-ROM, Satellite Pro/P300, Microsoft Windows XP Prof - BUT I am desparate to
try to get the data back(especially on the desktop) before I try the XP disk, which I understand WILL LIKELY delete ALL data! If it in fact even works! Is this correct? Is there a 'repair' function in the recovery disk which will save my data? What can I try
to recover the data? Should I get someone to make cd boot disk or something? Keep in mind I am virtually pc illiterate!!
    Hope someone can help...soon!

  • Lenovo T410s recovery windows 7 failed to start after the system instalation.

I've got a problem with the laptop Lenovo T410s. I've put the new HDD on it (tried even the same with a different HDD too), and started to instal WIN 7 64-bit from the recovery disks. I used to do it many times so far with different Lenovo laptops without any problems. But this time, a while before the end of the instalation (when processing the sdrivebackup.wim) it stops and comes with a statement: " the recovery process has been finished, please ...." (but I see that the progres bar is far awayfrom 100%) , and finishes the instalation, reboot the computer and it comes the screen with the statement from the Windows Boot Manager:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem (...)
    File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
    Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The selected entrycould not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt"
I read a lot about the ways to solve similar problems, but they don't work on my case. The strange thing is, that I can instal WIN 8 or WIN7 from regular Windows instalation disks  (not from Lenovo recovery, but from normal universal Windows instalation disks).
As I told before, I tried it in 2 different HDD disks with the same effect. It looks that the recovery instalation stops before the end without instaling some files which are missing later during starting the system.
Anybody can help me with that problem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It doesn't quite sound like it based on your reported error messages, but are you trying to do recovery to an advanced format HDD?  (one with 4k-byte sectors)
I ran into that issue on a T400.  The recovery media would run to completion then error out - with a somewhat different message IIRC.
There weren't appropriate drivers for an AF drive, and I couldn't find a solution.  There's no way (that I know of) to inject drivers into recovery media the way one can with install media.
If this is an AF drive issue the only way to get around it may be to install to a non-AF drive (usually a small-ish one) and then clone to your new drive.
I may be totally off in left field here - just tossing it out as a possibility.

  • IPlanet web server 4.x on Windows 2000 fails to start after activating SSL

I have created the trust database and installed a CA root certificate and a web server certificate. When I enable SSL, the server startup takes a long time (although the log file indicates a successful startup much earliar) and then after acknowledging the information box for successful startup, on return to the server on/off page, the page shows server off.

Can you provide the error logs file of the instance which fails to start?

  • Created windows service fails to start

Hi all. We have a piece of software that must always be running on a Windows Server 2008 box.
Currently due to poor development, this software is only run by a local user (not as SYSTEM nor initiated via a Windows Service) so when our user gets logged off, the software goes down with it.
I have to find a way to get a particular command to run (as administrator) when the machine turns on (even if a user a user does not log in). I have been playing with the SC command to create a service but I cannot get the service to start. I keep receiving
    the error:
FAILED 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Another option I was trying as a temporary fix was to use the PsTools to launch the software. When the processes are running they are running as SYSTEM, but they still shut down when the user is logged off. Is there an easier way to get services to work?
Or another way entirely to get software to launch on System boot? Please note that I am very restricted in this environment so doing this without the use of 3rd party tools is preferable. Thank you!!

    Hi Marc,
    Thanks for your reply!
JAVA_HOME is set.  It echoes out c:\Program Files\jdk1.7.0_25\jre.
I installed the service as described by the documentation for the process.
I've also applied the jvm_mx correction to jvm_options (as outlined by the documentation link above).
No errors are reported during the installation, but evidently it's being installed misconfigured.  Adjusting instsrv.bat to only echo out the commands it runs gives back the following:
    C:\CQ\5.6.1\publish\crx-quickstart\opt\helpers>instsrv.bat cq5
    Installing service cq5
        runs in   C:\CQ\5.6.1\publish\crx-quickstart

My iTunes stopped working at this time.  I thought I could delete iTunes and start over. This tactic did not work.
Can anyone make sense of what I am saying and help me to get my iTunes back again?

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
