Windows 7 on bootcamp installation problem

hi all,
i just had a new imac and was trying to install a windows home premium OEM 64 bit on bootcamp. installation is going fine until the completion stage where your suppose to set up winodws for first use, all it did is become a blank/ black screen and nothing happens. i waited for a long time until i decided to install it one more try. no luck. i tried to remove the partition and partitioned it again on bootcamp and had another go at installation, still no joy. have anyone had similar problems? i just prefered to install a windows natively instead of using parallels. can someone help me please? i would really appreciate it.

I made the mistake when setting up bootcamp by not formatting the partition during the windows setup.
So you could make sure you have partition on the mac side, and then when setting up i the windows side formattig the partition space before files are copied.

  • Problem booting after failed Windows (via Bootcamp) installation

    Good Day,
yesterday i recieved my brand new 21" iMac.
I wanted to install Windows via Bootcamp. I partitioned the Harddrive, started the installation and when Windows setup came to the point where it has to reboot (after copying the necessary files to the harddrive during the part of the setup process with the blue screen), it said something like "disc error, press any key to boot from CD. Nothing happend and the only way to start the computer was while holding down the ALT key and selecting the Macintosh disc.
I deleted the bootcamp partition, but still my computer wants to boot windows giving me the "disc error" message. Everytime i have to start the computer holding the ALT key to boot into OSX (it only shows me the Macintosh drive, no more windows drive to select).
    Who can help?
    Thanks!

It is a common error, which i've faced too.
Did you formatted the windows partition when into xp/vista/7 installation?
Boot Camp assistant only partition the hard drive, but you will have to format the windows partition yourself before installing, or you'll get that error when trying to boot/reboot in windows after installation.
You'll just have to start your iMac with the Windows CD/DVD, and redo the installation, this time formatting the partition (not with the fast format option).
    Best regards!

  • Bootcamp Installation Problem

    Hi Guys,
Need some help here. I am totally struggling with my bootcamp installation. Here is what is going on, lets see if someone has had similar problems and can help me out.
I have a Macbook Pro 15´ late 2011. I just updated the computer, installed 16gb of RAM and a 240 GB SSD made by Crucial (http://www.crucial.com/store/ProductMarketing_m500.aspx). As usual update my old hard drive is installed where the DVD drive was and my new SSD where the original driva was. Mavericks is running smooth, huge difference when starting the computer or loading applications. The problem comes when I went out to install Bootcamp.
First I tried installing W7 with an standard procedure following bootcamp assistant. The problem comes when the computer restarts to start installing the OS, it gets stuck into a black page with a blincking line cursor. Nothing happens. Stays there forever. Tried different methods and no chance.
So I decided to try with USB installation. Realized after a lot of research that the bootcamp assistant wont let you install by USB as you are supposed to use your optical drive. I made some research and found out that you could change some parameters under the bootcamp app so that the app lets you make all the USB installation. Tried this with W8 and Worked fine, but when installing windows tells me that the OS cant be installed under my SSD , some error regarding the drive.
Tried the same as the one before with W7 but this time my mac pro would not even recognized the drive where all the windows installation was mounted.
I have tried everything and I cannot get to a solution. Has someone had so much truble????
please!! any help will be gladly received.
    best!
    Fernando

The last poster who had this problem installed with a "too old" version of Windows and we spent a week on the problem before he mentioned it. Do you have Xp + SP2? If you do not have SP2 version you can stop right here. Make sure you install exactly to Apple's requirements and nothing can go wrong. Take a short-cut and you can potentially wreck even your OSX... • Windows 8.1 installation problems

    Hello Support team,
I have an issue upgrading my system to windows 8.1. When I try it to update via the store i get the following error message:
Something happened and Windows 8.1 couldn't be installed. Please Try again. Error Code
    0x80073bc3
I already contacted Microsoft first level and second level support but they could not help me. When trying to install Windows 8.1 fresh we got the following error message:
But my Windows partition C: has 90.6 Gigs of free space. Sounds enough.
Second level support found out that I don't have an entry in my msconfig boot tab page:
Not silly I think this can be fixed with the HP troubleshooting tools but then I got the following when trying to start them:
This error code I know. Its the same as in the first one. So HP support how get I an entry into my msconfig boot tab like the Microsoft level 2 support say it is needed and that I can update my laptop to windows 8.1?

I found this page on the forums at answers.microsoft.com. Towards the bottom there is someone saying they had the problem and the cause was software for a specific brand of mouse or headphones. If you are using the same type, maybe this is the cause of your issue.

  • Windows 8.1 installation problem (photosmart 3180c)

When trying to install the full suite the installer says the Computer I am running does not have USB hardware nor software devices that are supported.
However the Photoshop TWAIN acquire has no trouble using the scanner in the printer. It for some reason reads the device as photosmart 3100 instead of 3180c
Now, I would like to get just the printer drivers, I have no need for the full suite either so if possible it can be left out.

    Hi,
You can check  setupact.log and setuperr.log in c:\windows.~BT\Sources\Panther. If this folder not exit, please check setupact log in C:\Windows\Panther. You may find the reason for this problem.

  • Windows 8 BootCamp Installation Not Working

Hi, I recently found out that you could use Windows on a Mac using Bootcamp. Me, being a serious gamer decided to try it out. i have the Win. 8 disc and I also have the drivers on my flash drive {4gb}. Using bootcamp, I made a partition and restarted. Everything was fine until I clicked on 'Install Now.' An error popped up saying the following:
"A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be DVD, USB, or Hard Disk driver...."
Then it says to insert the flash drive for the drivers, so I do, and I see it when I'm browsing for drivers, but for every singe driver, it is not compatible with Windows 8. There were 10 drivers that were compatible, and if I tried to install it just says that I need to get an updated driver from Microsoft. Is there a way to bypass this? Disable Driver Signature Enforcement?
    My Mac:
    Macbook Pro 13.3'' Non-Retina, Mid-2012
    2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    Yosemite 10.10
    Process:
I downloaded WindowsSupport software using Bootcamp, and then it asked me to put the installation media in, so I did. From there it asked me to partition and reboot. You know the rest.
    Windows Installation:
    DVD
    Please help!
Thank you for taking your time to help me,
    CEOofApple

You can start the Windows installation because you have started in EFI mode. You can install Windows in this way, but you won't be able to install Boot Camp drivers and you might have issues, so I don't recommend you to do it.
You don't need any additional driver during the Windows installation, and this is probably caused because your Macbook Pro isn't designed to install Windows in EFI mode

  • Windows 2k3 Universal Installer Problem

    Hey all,
Let me apologize if this problem has already been answered, but I wasn't able to find any other posts for the particular issue Im having.
Im trying to install 10g rel. 2 on my win 2k3 sp1 platform. When I run setup.exe I get Oracle's splash screen and then attempt to install oracle by just doing the basic installation. I also uncheck the check box to create a starter db. Finally I click "Next" and the Universal Installer just disappears and nothing ever happens. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your help. I finally got it to work correctly now. I believe it was just a bad download I had of 10g. I went back and re-downloaded the db and performed the above mentioned steps from my first posting and it installed itself correctly.
As far as log files are concerned, there were never any for me to look at. During my successful install of Oracle, with the newly downloaded cd, the log files were put in C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs. I never even saw this directory created when I did the install.
    Thanks again!

  • Officejet 4500 G510g-m | Windows 7 Driver Installation Problems

    Hello!
I've just purchased a new Acer Aspire One 722 laptop running on Windows 7 64-bit for work and I'm having some problems getting it to play nice with the all-in-one at work. The model is an Officejet 4500 G510g-m and though I still have the CD, it seems to be of little help. Whenever I run any of the HP diagnostic tools, they attempt to download the full software suite (I assume, since it's the same 373MB package) and extract it, only to go back to step one of discovering the device and starting the download all over again.
I have tried running the Solution Center installer directly from the disk, at which point I get the 2732 error. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash to attempt to circumvent that error to no success. I have downloaded both the basic and the full driver suite from the HP site and attempted installation multiple times, using the scrubber in between to ensure a clean slate. I've copied the files from the CD to my computer and tried to install more directly, with exactly the same results, yet the printer continues to show up as problematic under the "Printers and Devices" window, troubleshooting which just returns me to the endless cycle of downloading a driver that seems to not want to install.
At this point, I haven't the faintest clue what's causing the problem, so I'd greatly appreciate any insights!
Thanks for your time in advance.

  • Windows Vista Bootcamp Driver Problems

    Hello,
I have installed Windows Vista 32bit through Bootcamp, and the installation went through fine. I inserted my iMac "Mac OS X Install DVD" that came with my imac i bought in august. I tryed to run the program, but it said it was only availible for Windows 7. I could not acsess the internet through Wifi on Windows.
Could anyone give me instructions on how i can get the Windows Vista Drivers without the disk? the drivers, that bootcamp prompts me to install onto a usb, are also for windows 7 only. (ive already tryed this)
    Thanks!

    The hatter,
While running Vista, I navigate to Bootcamp setup.exe (my 10.6.6 disc is in the drive), it quits mid-launch and tells me Windows 7 is required. But Bootcamp user's manual says Vista is ok.
I'm using an 21.5" iMac with 10.6.8. I installed Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit via bootcamp assistant. Vista is running fine but i can't surf the net. Error msgs say "network adaptor not found." Other forums lead me to believe it is a matter of bootcamp installing the proper drivers so vista can recognize my network hardware. But I can't even run bootcamp in Vista from my snow leopard CD b/c it quits and requires Windows 7.
My firmware is up to date as I checked it manually. According to my boot rom version, I need firmware update 1.9. After downloading and launching, msg tells me it is not compatible with my system. Please advise.

  • GS60 Windows 8.1 installation problem

    Hello,
Two days ago I bought a msi GS60 2PE-211XPL without the system. I would like to install Windows 8.1 in UEFI mode but during installation when selecting the drive, I get a message that the installation is not possible, because partitions of both SSD and HDD disks are MBR instead of GPT. Is it possible to change the SSD from MBR into GPT before installation? I also have a question about a strange partitions 1. on both drives (size 1,9GB - image included). If I convert SSD into GPT will the partition be removed? Is there anything important on it?
Thanks in advance for your help:)

Watch that, it has the solution in it to allow you to change the partitions to GPT and allow you to install.
Bear in mind that doing this will erase all data on those partitions (obviously).
I do not know what your partition setup looks like, and unfortunately I cannot read what language your screen capture shows, but I'm guessing that the small 1.7GB is an installation partition and the other is the main windows partition.
Without knowing if you have any data that you wish to be saved from those partitions, it's difficult to say.

    Hi,
    In addition to above suggestion.
Since this issue can also be related to store catch file and corrupted Windows update components or security app.
    Please follow these steps:
First, clear Windows store catch by search wsreset.exe, and click to run.
Second, let's reset Windows update components repair them:

Third, please disable or even remove the security applications before reload the Windows 8.1 since it will always block the upgrade process.
If the issue still persists, please post back the %windir%\windowsupdate.log and C:\WINDOWS\PANTHER\setupact.log and C:\WINDOWS\PANTHER\setuperr.log for our research.

Your Mac has (or used to have) a built-in Optical drive. You need a physical DVD for Windows and a USB2 flash drive for BC drivers. Bootcamp Info.plist modifications cause more problems than they resolve.
Your Mac is also not UEFI compliant, late 2013+ Macs are the first ones to be, so EFI boot will not work.

  • Windows XP or Window 7 installation problem through bootcamp

    Hi,
I tried to install Window XP through boot camp and successfully made partition, boot the xp cd and copies all the windows installation files on NTFS drive. After restarting system for installation it gives error system32/hal.dll file not found. Can you help in that regard.
2nd Question: Can I Install Windows 7 without any problem on my MacBook Pro.
3rd Question: I have installed Paragon NTFS to access NTFS drive from Mac OS but it doesn't work. It does not show any NTFS partition. Any other solution in that regard?

my experience with the hal.dll had more to do with creating partitions. I have 2 HD in my computer and I wanted to partition the second drive (because it is huge) into 2 and put winxp on one and win7 on the other.
The end result is that, for whatever reason, you cannot partition the drive the windows is on, or you will get that error. I don't know why this is. I tried partition first via bootcamp, partitioning in the XP setup and partition afterward using a tool to partition HD. In every case, as soon as I had partitioned the drive, I would get the hal.dll error.
    Windows 7.
32 bit should be just like 32bit vista. If you're asking about 64 bit, then its a little different. The windows 7 64bit isn't supported by apple, and if you have an older mac, it won't install at all. I did find a solution to one of the possible errors. If you are installing win7 64 bit and get the error "select cd-rom boot type" then look up my post on that issue here on the apple forums.
