Windows 7 won't recognize my iPhone now that I've updated to iOS 7.1

What's up here?  I use a Windows 7 machine and used to just plug my iPhone in and get all the photos and video off of it via "my computer".  Now my desktop won't recognize my iPhone and the phone keeps asking me to trust the computer which I've said "yes" about six times now.  I don't use iTunes and don't want to as it doesn't work well with Windows.  None of this happened until I updated to iOS 7.1 and hey apple, give us an option to roll back please!!

That's what's throwing me.  I don't use iTunes and don't even have it installed.  I just plug the phone in via a USB cable, or did anyway before iOS 7.1 and it worked fine.  I manually pulled my photos and videos off to my hard drive.  Now I'm trying to download iTunes and it just keeps saying "thanks for downloading iTunes" yet it hasn't even begun to download.  All my own fault.  I didn't listen to myself "if it ain't broke don't fix it" i.e. don't always rush to update to the lastest iOS.  Heck I still use Windows XP on my desktop and have for 13 years.  It works fine and I see no need to change it.

  • Windows won't recognize my iPhone, but recognizes someone else's. What do I do?

I plugged my iPhone in earlier tonight to sync and backup my phone before I did my upgrade. I had a ton of problems that I never had... was stuck still on step 2 after an hour. I kept getting out of iTunes and retrying, finally got to the last step and it was backing up my apps, but was stuck on one FOREVER. I got out. Finally updated iTunes, got back in, and now it wasn't even recognizing my device and iTunes immediately froze, twice. Restarted my computer. Restarted my iPhone. Tried to update drivers, but said I had the "best one" already installed. Did some windows wizard things that had me uninstall my USB drives, then restart to reinstall them. Nothing. Restored my computer to the point of before the iTunes update. Nothing. Restored back to 2 weeks ago. Still nothing. Keeps saying the USB Device Cannot be Recognized.
So I gave my husband my phone and asked him to plug it in on his computer. Nothing. He then plugged his phone in on his computer and it recognized it perfectly fine. So we know the cord works. I then took HIS iPhone and plugged it in to my computer and it recognized it... So we know my computer is fine. It's got to be my phone, but what? How? We both have 16gb iPhone 4's.
I don't have enough memory to do the upgrade so I need to move photos from my phone to my computer but I am so lost now as to what I should do. What could be wrong?

    bump, someone please respond!!

  • Why won't my apps update now that I have updated to iOS 7? The are stuck in "waiting." And how do I fix it?

I updated to the iOS 7 and now several apps, iBooks included, won't finish the update. I can't delete and re-download because they are stuck in "waiting." Also, I can't seem to reload apps sent to cloud back to my phone.
Storage isn't the issue because I have checked that. Or at least in the surface it doesn't appear to be. Any other trouble shooting ideas are appreciated.

I found that what worked to correct this issue on my iPhone 4S was to turn off automatic app updates. I went to Settings - iTunes & App Store - and under Automatic Downloads, switched Updates to off. My apps that were stuck in 'Waiting' immediately began downloading.
Although I would like to be able to use the automatic update feature, at least I found a fix to the 'waiting' issue for now.

  • Now that i have updated to ios 6 on my ipad 2 a lot of my apps included the app store is not working properly! What could this be???

A lot of my apps are not running. I tried downloading an app from the app store and it give me a message saying "Cannont connect to iTunes store" and a few of the games and apps i downloaded wont open and/or load... This didnt start until i updated to ios6 how can i reverse this or what can i do to fix this error!!!?????

We have read that any apps that use the google map app (removed by ios6) will not work.  We have lost a great camping app for this reason, and have heard that some weather apps are not working either.  The company line we've been given is it's up to the app developer to rewrite their apps.  ***** doesn't it.

  • I can't close the apps on my iPad 2 now that I have updated to IOS 7.

Any suggestions on how to close them. This is just the first of numerous problems I am having with IOS 7.

    Close apps
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
    3. The app will fly off the screen

  • Why do i get a camera icon and volume bar on my lock screen now that i have updated to ios 5

Why do i get a camera icon (bottom right)and volume/buffer bar (top centre) of lock screen....only happening since ios5 update..

It's a feature of iOS5.  If you double tab the home button, you can use the camera or play music without having to enter your lock code.  If you single tap the home button, you should just see the lock screen.  It's nice if you want to take a picture quickly.

  • HT4972 How do I update my iPhone my that did not updated automatically(iOS 6.1.3)

How do I update my I phone 4s?

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

  • 2 things: iPhoto isn't automatically copying all my imported photos into an iPhoto album folder AND ever since i upgraded my MacBook 120GB to Snow Leopard, iTunes won't recognize my iPhone.

So i have a 120GB MacBook that's about 4 years old (just updated to Snow Leopard--been working in Iraq, i'm a little behind).
Never had a problem with it.
I also have an iPhone 4 which i've had for about a year (up-to-date software as of about a month ago).
Never had a problem with it.
I've had iTunes for years of course (up-to-date).
    Never had a problem.
    1.
Now my iTunes won't recognize my iPhone since the Snow Leopard update.
iPhoto will recognize my phone, but iTunes won't.
Went through all the preferrences and i can't find anything that isn't set properly.
iTunes Helper is used during startup.
    Everything seems fine.
    Any help?
    2.
I use a WD external hard drive to back my Mac up every week or so.
I recently realized that half of my pictures from iPhoto are not copied to the external.
    They haven't been transfering over.
So i snooped through my folders and as it turns out, iPhoto hasn't been copying the pictures i import from my iPhone to iPhoto and saving them as .jpg files in the pictures folder (or iPhoto album or whatever) like i think it's supposed to.
My pictures folder has approx half of all my pictures in it, meaning at some point (probably 2 years ago) iPhoto stopped making the file copies of my imported pictures.
    I do not know why.
No idea how to fix it.
If i were able to fix that (with your help), would all the pictures that haven't been copied automatically copy to my pictures folder once i had the issue resolved or would there be a lot of dragging and dropping?
I've been clumsily and sloppily copying all my pictures to a new folder on my desktop and manually transferring that folder to a thumb drive (which i keep in my pocket) and my external (just so i have them in some form) in case my computer crashes or a mortar shell lands on my room and blows my computer up.
Can anyone please help me with any of this?
I can't just stoll down to the Apple store to ask the Genius Bar (I'm in Baghdad) and i don't have Apple Care so no one will help me on the phone when i call Apple.
    Thanks so much.

    hey mill1640,
Did you ever get your iPhone to register with iTunes? I just upgraded as well to Snow Leopard, and my my isn't recognized at all also.
If you did get this resolved, I would appreciate a little suggestion in the right direction.
    Many thanks,
    Josh

  • I recently had to reinstall iTunes, and now it won't recognize my iphone so Im not able to sync my phone to iTunes.  How do I fix this?

I recently reinstalled iTunes, and now it won't recognize my iphone so I'm not able to sync the phone with iTunes.  How do I fix this?

It has been shown there are problems with the latest update of iTunes and Windows computers. What you need to do is remove and reinstall iTunes, and make sure that you follow the steps in this support document exactly. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923. If you do not follow them exactly, you will just compound your problems. Once you do this, you should have no trouble having the phone recognized in iTunes.

  • Just upgraded macbook to Snow Leopard, and now itunes won't recognize my iphone.  I tried turning all off, and on.  I have the newest version of itunes.  Will I have to reset my iphone (and also ipod touch?), and if so, does it mean I lose anything?

I just upgraded macbook to SnowLeopard 10.6.3 and now itunes won't recognize my iphone.  I tried turning everything off and restarting.  I have the latest version of itunes.  If I have to reset the phone (and ipod touch), what does that mean?  Will I lose anything? How long will it take?  thanks

Start iTunes.  Make sure you really are running the version you think you are.  Sometimes people end up with two copies, different versions.

You say you are running Snow Leopard 10.6.3.  That version will not run the latest iTunes which requires 10.6.8  If you need iTunes 10.7 you have to be running 10.6.8

  • HT1338 i upgraded from leopard to snow leopard ( i know i am really behind) but now iTunes won't recognize my iPhone. and the updates keep crashing when they are trying to install...help!

I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard. now iTunes won't recognize my iphone, and the upgrading the software keeps crashing.. help!!

Mountain Lion is OS X 10.8
    10.6 was called Snow Leopard.
To use iTunes 10.7 the following is required:
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    Safari 4.0.3 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
    Do you use iTunes Match?
That way all of your songs would be matched with the master song on the iTunes servers independently of iTunes on your Mac or PC...

You may have to remove & reinstall the AMDS, as described in that support article.
