Windows 7 x64 - Encode h.264 results in jerky video in Windows Media Player (WMP) 12
System: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 EN, Adobe Master Collection CS 4 Win En

H.264 HDTV Testvideos
Profile: 1280x720 fps 30, square pixel, progressive
Destination:
For Testing purpose, just converting the original within Adobe Media Encoder.
Profile: same as Source
1) The original source files play fine using any player, so the hardware of my test systems (3 computers) is ok
2) When exporting the Video to H.264 the resulting video is jerky in Windows Media Player and Quicktime
3) When converting the jerky result video again, but now into WMV, it plays fine
The problem can be reproduced on all 3 machines.
It seems to me that Windows Media Player and Quicktime enforce their own h.264 decoder which has problems playing Premiere Exports.
These Players seem to play the file properly:
- VLC Media Player
- Media Player Classic Home Cinema
- Adobe media player
So how can one be sure that the Premiere h.264 exports are just fine and the only problem is on decoder side? However, I feel very uncomfortable not being able to play the h.264 files within Windows Media Player 12, which has uses the built-ind Windows 7 h.264 decoder.
Any help is highly appreciated!
Thank you
Chris
Hello Harm,
let me add my comment of another discussion:
My concerns are about a)distribution and general b)compatibility.
a) When videos are distributed most of the users will probably try to open the files with Windows Media Player. So it is not a good start to have fresh exported h.264 videos which won't run fine with the 'main' player on windows
b) I am wondering if the Problems with Windows Media Player may also be a sign of a general compatibility issue of the h.264 video itself
At least in case b) Adobe would have to look into this.
And in general there maybe a bug in the MS h.264 decoder.
Thank you
Chris

How to install apex on windows x64 with 10gR2?
Hello,
today I tried to install the http-server for our 10gR2-database. We are using windows x64.
But I cant find OHS for this release. How can I install apex then?
Regards,
Markhave you tried the installation, or did you just ask in advance?
in the last wekks i did a lof of installation stuff on an x64 system using the old x32 versions. even oracle sw like 10.2.0.3 client etc.
and most oft the stuff was up and running just like on an x32 system.
just keep in mind that the directory structure an x64 is slightly different #
if u install x32 software the default installation path is "C:\Program Files (x86)" and in the registry a speacial key hklm\software\wow6432node
just in case you need to patch.
in my opinion it would be worth to give i a try, but remember not on a productive system.
i'd like to hear about your results
regards peter

Encoding H.264 @ 640 x 480 for iPod with Avidemux?
Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, so please be gentle!
QuickTime/iTunes don't support XviD decoding on Windows, meaning I need to use a third-party tool for encoding my XviD videos to iPod. I am hoping that somebody on this forum has experience with H.264 iPod encodes to contribute towards getting mine working.
I've been using Avidemux 2.5.1 on Windows XP SP3 for other work very successfully and on paper it certainly seems capable of creating 640x480 H.264 encodes for my iPod.
The iPod does play 640x480 MPEG-4 ASP (XviD) and 320x240 MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encodes, both made by Avidemux. It also plays sample Apple files converted to 640x480 H.264 by iTunes (I've checked their format).
However, for the life of me I haven't been able to create a compliant 640x480 H.264 encode with Avidemux. No matter what options I've turned off and/or tuned down and no matter how low I've taken the bitrate, no 640x480 H.264 encode has worked so far with Avidemux.
My iPod's specs are at http://support.apple.com/kb/SP26 and I suspect that the "Low-Complexity" Baseline Profile is at the heart of my problems (potentially also the AAC-LC audio, although I guess then my other successful encodes with Avidemux/AAC wouldn't have worked either?). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264 only mentions a Constrained Baseline Profile, and I'm not sure whether that's the same thing as the "Low-Complexity" mentioned in the above iPod spec.
Has anybody succeeded in making iPod-compliant 640x480 H.264 encodes with Avidemux, and if so, may I please have the X264 encoder settings for Avidemux 2.5.1 from you?
Many thanks,
FrancoisI'd like to report that our problem has been solved! What I had not seen before was the setting in QT to use the "Baseline" setting. That made all the difference.
For others, the setting can only be found by doing the following:
Use the Movie to MPEG-4 setting
File format: MP4
Video format: H.264
This will give a "Video Option" button. Change to "Baseline"
That's the key. After that, any settings can be used, such as data rate, frame rate, etc.
Here's what I now use:
(Under the Video Options button) Restrict Profile to Baseline
Encoding mode: Best quality (multi-pass)
Video format: H.264
Data rate: 75 kbps
Optimized for download
Image size 320x240 QVGA
Frame Rate: 15fps
Key frame automatic
Audio: AAC-LC
Data rate: 48
Channels: Mono
Output Sample rate: 44.100
Encoding Quality: Best
I want to thank all those who gave us input both here and in other discussions! -
Sudden Sleep When Encoding H.264
Hi All,
When encoding H.264 video on my dual 2GHz G5, the computer suddenly goes into sleep mode.
When I try to wake it up, it goes into sleep mode again after a couple of seconds and this continues!
It only occurs with the H.264 codec, not regular MPEG4.
I have tried using various applications, same result.
(QuickTime, ffmpegX, Handbrake & MPEG Streamclip)
Appreciate any help you can give...
Kind regards,
Flemming Bengtsson
PowerMac G5 Dual 2GHz Mac OS X (10.4.3)OK. Gaining.
It may be a hardware issue. You could run the Hardware test (on the Tiger DVD) and maybe it will point out some issues.
I would try your powerful Mac with a different monitor and different cable connections.
The "external" drive test you've already done. And this was done via an "update" to Tiger or a "fresh" install?
What third party hardware could be causing an issue? The monitor? The video card? A bad cable connection?
Last would be the destination location of the save. Have you tried "local" saves and exports? -
iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows x64 will not successfully install. Removed prior iTunes, and still will not install. 10.7 installs just fine, but constantly asks to upgrade to 11.2.2. Any Thoughts?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

When I email an attachment (a .jpg file) with "Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" checked, the result is a picture embedded in the body of the email, not a attachment. What am I doing wrong.
1. "Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" has nothing to do with the display of attachments on either your machine or other ones. It's an esoteric setting that strips the resource fork from Mac files (that might have them) which could apper as a duplicate file on the Windows machine.
2. Send Plain Text emails. Then it will always be received as an attachment. -
J2SE 1.4.2 for Windows x64 bit download link
Dear All,
Can any one give me the link to download J2SE 1.4.2 for Windows x64 bit architecture?
Your help is highly appreciated.
Regards,
SyedThere should be no issues with using SAP JVM from the start.
Probably no notes because is straightforward:
- Extract the SAP JVM (e.g. c:\sapjvm_4)
- Set JAVA_HOME (c:\sapjvm_4)
And start installation as per guide.
We have done this recently with Solman 7 EHP1 and NW 7 EHP1 (J2EE stack).
We did have issue on central instance install where the J2EE instance would not start part way through installation (server0 continually crashed and restarted with memory issues) so we had to adjust the instance settings as per SAP Note#1603093, before retrying in SAPINST and continuing.
We had this problem with both Solman & NW 7 EHP1. -

flex/sdk/trunk/modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/CompilerAPI.javaHi, thank you for your replies, I found out few things about my servlet, and its portability
and i have few questions, although i marked this topic as answered i guess its ok to post
I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.
What i am using to get the tempdir i will paste
File baseurl = (File)this.getServletContext().getAttribute("javax.servlet.context.tempdir");
System.out.println(baseurl);
baseurl = new File(baseurl.getAbsolutePath()+File.separator+"temp"+File.separator+"files");
baseurl.mkdirs();so i am storing my files in that temp/files folder and the servlet processes them and modifies them, then how to present them as
links to the user for download ?
and as the servlet is multithreaded by nature, if my servlet gets 2 different requests with same file names, i guess one of them will be overwritten
And i want to create unique directory for each request made to the servlet , so file names dont clash.
one another thing is that i want my servlet to be executed by my <form action> only, I dont want the user to simply type url and trigger the servlet
Reply A.S.A.P. please..

Oracle Express Database - Windows x64
At the risk of being seriously repetitive, I'll post a question I have seen in various forms for approximately 3.5 years. The user community needs to have a specific, fact-based answer to the problem of no x64 support on Windows. In several threads one can find via Google, people purporting to be Oracle representatives claim a supported version will be available "soon". Soon in my neck of the woods generally means a time frame less than 3 years, but what do I know. Can someone please, please provide a definitive statement of direction on this issue, and assuming this is coming "soon", it would be overwhelmingly wonderful to have a specific date. My company plans/desires/hopes to release software that would embed an Oracle Express db, and frankly I'm about to throw in the towel if I can't get some visibility to this question. As I've heard from many ex customers, "there's always Sql Server".
Regards, Roger Carter, President, DBConnect Solutions, Inc.Thanks for the update. I followed up with Oracle internally via our Oracle Partnership channel, and they checked with the VP of development responsible for XE. The official response is "there is no date where this will be provided for Windows x64. It is, however, under consideration." In my 25+ years of working with Oracle, I will give you my translation - it is not going to happen anytime soon, and to your point, it will probably be version 12 before you see anything. For us, this is a huge disappointment, and it means we will be abandoning many thing with Oracle. It's my view that they don't care about this vertical one bit.

Hello, is possible to install Oracle Express Edition on Windows x64 ? When I try to install I get error "Error: 1719 The Windows Installer Service could not be acessed"
Hi,
In fact, Oracle didn’t have a x64 version for Oracle XE, but usually 32 bits softwares run without problems in x64 platforms ... Have you checked out if is there any O/S user's privilege issue related to this problem?
Cheers

11g R2 - 2 node RAC on Windows X64 2003 Server
hi
we are soon going to start building a 2 node 11g R2 RAC on Windows X64 2003 server
questions
1. In 11g R2, is creating 2 disk group DATA and FRA still considered the best practice?
2. On which disk group should we place the OCR and Voting Disk
3. If there are issues placing OCR and Voting Disk on ASM (there definitely appears to be some concerns / reported issues on this), is using OCFS2 still a viable option?
4. Can someone point us to a document such as step by step installation of 11g R2 RAC on Windows with ASM or best practices 11g R2 RAC on Windows?
thanksA bit late maybe, but you can check Note 811271.1 - RAC Assurance Support Team: RAC Starter Kit and Best Practices (Windows).

Installation XE 11. on Windows x64 ( 64-bit) 2008
Dear All ,
I want to know if latest XE edition is certified on Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) 2008 OS ?
We have installed specific version on Windows x64 (64-bit) 2008 OS.
We get the following error :
OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. !
and there is a respective Doc ID :
Note 1060806.1: OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
Action Plan
========
1. Install 64-bit version of Oracle database software.
2. Upgrade the database from 32-bit version to 64-bit version.
Can we use Oracle XE on specific OS ?Hello,
I want to know if latest XE edition is certified on Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) 2008 OS ?No. See [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABHICJH]XE's System Requirements for details.
Similar error messages have been reported here before, e. g. in {message:id=10665775}.
It seems possible to get XE started on 64bit Windows, but it might be a hard fight, especially on a server OS with other possible traps..
Can we use Oracle XE on specific OS ?Sure, all certified 32bit Windows versions or 64bit Linux versions would be fine. See {thread:id=2278170} to get a full report.

1. Is Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 certified to work on Oracle DB 11.1.0.6.0 (Microsoft Windows (x64)) ?
2. Is Oracle Database 11.1.0.6.0(Microsoft Windows (x64) certified to work on Windows 7 Pro 64bit ?You also do realize Hyperion Planning/Essbase/... is not supported on Windows 7 Pro. If you wish to install on a supported operating system install on Windows 2003 Server x64.
Yes, 11.1.0.6 is supported as a database for Hyperion 11.1.1.3 - review the certification matrices for Hyperion at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html
No, Windows 7 is not a supported platform for 11.1.0.6 databas - review http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32305.pdf
You can also located supported platforms with say 5 minute software with say 10 minutes of using google. If you do not have this much time to put towards the installation then you should not be installing as you should review all installation documentation before proceeding as it is at least a full day activity to do it properly (even after you have done it 20-30 times).
