Windows 8.1 does not recognize Nano 7

My Windows 8.1 OS does not recognize my Nano 7th Gen.

Hi kathyt8952 ,
Would you please share us more details of the issue ?
Have you checked the driver issue from the device manager ?Have you tried to connect the device from another USB port to have a check ?
We can take the following steps to have a check .
1.Open "run" from the start menu, and run "services.msc".
2.Search "Apple Mobile Device".
3.On "status" column right click and then click on "Properties"
4.In the "general" tab find the "startup type" drop-down arrow menu and make sure "automatic" is selected.
5.Also in the general tab check the "service status". If it does not say "started" then click the start button.
6.At the bottom of the properties window click "apply".
If the issue persists, we can refer to the following link to have a troubleshoot :

We may also need to ask for help from the Apple Forum .They may have some good advices for you .

  • Windows Media Player does not recognize new downloaded songs

I have a Pavilion a4310f Prod Nr:  AY014AA-ABA running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I just discovered that Windows Media Player does not recognize songs I recently downloaded from the Wal-Mart Music Download Site.  The songs can be seen in the Music Library in a folder named "Downloads" and I can open each song and it will play when double clicked.  The problem is that I can not create a playlist containing the new songs and burn a copy of the playlist because the songs are not listed in the Media Player library no matter hot it is sorted (Artist, Album, Genre, etc).
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You might also want to consider moving the songs to my Music or the folder you have WMP set as your Music folder. You can find/change that folder in WMP by going to File ---> Manage Libraries
Launch WMP ----> Tools ----> Options --->Privacy and be sure that the Display information from the internet box is checked.

  • Windows Security Suite does not recognize Verizon Internet Security Suite

Windows Secuity Suite does not recognize that the Verizon Internet Security suite on one of my PC's is running and keeps popping up aWindows Security Alert. The Firewall is enabled within Verizon Internet Security suite.
My other PC's don't have this issue.
All PC's are running Windows Vista Home Premium.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Mark

well that error message is saying that Windows security center no longer supports the way that the VISS is reporting. Which means that even though VISS is working and it is even reporting its status to WSC. WSC doesnt recognize it anymore. Likely one of the windows updates made the change. I can see the fight comming now. Verizon is going to say. Its working and if the other program doesnt support it, too bad. And windows is going to say the same thing in reverse. My guess would be that it will probably stay that way unless Verizon or Microsoft get enough complaints to make a change in the recognition system.
But the good news is that VISS is running and protecting you. The WSC just doesnt "speak the same language" anymore and cant understand the message from VISS saying "I'm up and running"

  • My new computer with Windows 8.1 does not recognize my iPhone when connected via USB.

My new Dell Computer with Windows 8.1 does not recognize my iPhone 5 when connected via USB.  I have reinstalled iTunes to no avail.

Hey, I may have to if I can't get this one to work!!
I have tried a different USB to no avail.  Both cables work on my old Dell so I don't believe they are the issue.
I uninstalled iTunes as directed by Apple Support and reinstalled.  Apparently, Apple Mobile Device Support is not loading with it because it does not show up in programs.

  • Computer does not recognize nano

I have an Ipod Nano, 2nd generation. The problem is that this is the second nano of the same type to be connected to my PC running Windows XP. The computer does not recognize the second nano. I would like to format my nano (FAT32) and give it a different drive letter.
    Thanks

  • Windows and iTunes does not recognize

    yada, yada...
I tried the Rs, but my new computer and iTunes does not recognize my shuffle. Can someone give me basic steps to correct this? Shuffle was previously 'synched' with another iTunes library and I don't want to erase my currently uploaded music. Help please!

I don't know if this is the same problem, but I cannot get my I-pod Nano to sync or have I-tunes recognize it. It is a connector problem, and this is my second Nano to do it within nine months. Apple wants $32 to send it in to be repaired once again. I am irritated beyond belief. I took my Nano in to an IMAC store and they confirmed that it was a connector problem. They could not send it off nor repair or replace it though. So I've had two Nano's since Christmas have this problem.
I would suggest that you try another device (shuffle) on your computer to ensure that it's not your computer (our other I-pods worked on the computer) and/or take it in to an IMAC store where they will see if it connects to one of their computers.
Right now I think Apple products are basically crap...

  • Windows 8 Bootcamp Does Not Recognize External Monitor

So, my Bootcamp of Windows 8 does not recognize my external monitor when I try to plug it in. I have read that the startup must recognize the monitor during the boot process. However, I have already done this and my external monitor remains in sleep mode. My drivers are all up to date with this bootcamp and I work on programming a lot so I need a solution for this issue because going back and forth between windows of the internet and my code is not ideal for me and wastes too much time. The external monitor works when I run my OS X, just not on Windows 8. If anyone could point me in the direction of how to solve this issue, it would be greatfully appreciated.

They're downloadable. But I'm going to create a system restore point in case something happens.
The below discussion had a similar issue but with Windows 7

    Hi @xAndre ,
Thank you for your inquiry, I will do my best to help.
I grasp that your touchscreen is not responding.  When I checked the specifications for the HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC support , I do not see that you have a touchscreen.  I know this is a CTO notebook so did you specifically order one?
Here is a link to  HP TouchSmart PCs - Troubleshooting touch screen issues in Windows 8.
If you updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 you may need to activate Windows again.  Here is a link to  HP PCs - Updating Windows 8 to 8.1
With it being a recent purchase you may want to contact HP support for further assistance. They can remotely access your system to quickly help to alleviate issues.
    I hope this helps.

  • Windows XP SP3 does not recognize iPod Classic

I have an older computer with Windows XP SP3 and iTunes 10.2.2.  iTunes does not recognize (load) my iPod Classic (160Gb model) when I plug it in.  The iPod lights up and charges fine, but it does not appear in the left menu bar in iTunes.
I have an old iPod Shuffle that loads into iTunes just fine.
I have tried a number of remedies:
Updated the computer to XP Service Pack 3.
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice.
Reset the iPod Classic several times.
Tried plugging the iPod into different USB ports on the computer.
My music library is on an external drive, so I was able to borrow a computer (Win7) and use it to load the music into my iPod.  But this isn't a permanent solution.
Does anyone know of a potential fix that I haven't considered?
    Thanks in advance.

Try restarting your Apple Mobile Device Service, kent:

  • Windows 7 pc does not recognize/find my iphone 5

I went to upgrade my iphone 5 to the new ios 7.  I am not a regular "syncer"-that is it had probably been a few months.  Went into itunes and was prompted to upgrade pc to 11.1.  Error was I had my phone pluggged in while upgrading itunes to 11.1.  Came back about 30 minutes later and the itunes logo was hardset into my phone-rendering it useless.   Went Apple Store #1 and got it unlocked and discovered phone contents were all gone accept for Contacts.  Came back home and phone was still not recognized.  Went to Apple Store #2 and was told how to uninstall the Apple apps in the proper order and restart pc.  Performed this function and PC still does not recognize the iphone 5.  Double checked to make sure all Apple apps were installed.  At my wits end....
