I tried to update my OS to windows 8.1 single language from windows 8 pc. But my installations was unsuccesful due to error code 0x80240031 . What is the problem and what is it's solution
Hi,
How did you upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1? Through Windows Store? To resolve this problem. Firstly, please check and install all Windows update, and upgrade hardware driver to be latest. After that, please try to create a new user account and upgrade
system again.
If problem persists, please access to the path below to check Windows installation log:
setupact.log and setuperr.log in c:\windows.~BT\Sources\Panther. If this folder not exit, please check setupact log in C:\Windows\Panther. You may find the reason for this problem. You also can provide these log to us, we can help you analyze these log together.

ITunes install fails due to Error Code
I'm trying to install iTunes and I get the message Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services. I then have 3 options - Abort - Retry - Ignore which provide no success. If I ignore it the installation process completes however it states that the installation failed 'Error Code 7 (Windows error 126)' re-install iTunes. I've tried running the download as administrator with no success.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
QuickTime Installation FAILED!! "Error Code: -1"
Hello. I think I've just wasted 5 hours downloading the new iTunes 6. When I install iTunes 6, it installs fine. But when it reaches the part where it downloads QuickTime7 there is an error code message- "Quicktime installation failed: Error Code : -1" I don't know what to do. Now my iTunes won't pop up. Then when I close the error screen, it says this- "1628: Failed to complete installation". I keep on trying to install iTunes 6, but the same thing happens again!!! Please, I need some help to solve this problem, without iTunes, i can't update my iPod Mini!!!
Thanks.This might not be exactly the same problem but lots of people (myself included) had problems after installing iTunes 6.0. I did the following and it finally installed correctly.
I went to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
and downloaded the Cleanup utility near the bottom of that page. When it installs on your machine it will scan your computer for every installer every ran on you're machine. Only select iTunes and Qtime and delete those 2 installers. Then I went to add/remove programs and removed iTunes and Qtime. Prior to this Qtime would not unistall but now it did. Funny thing was there was no prompting by windows once I hit "remove/repair" in the "add/remove programs" function.
Then rerun the iTunes 6.0.1 update. That had been failing to install Qtime prior to this but now it installed and I see all my music again and iTunes works. Let me know if this does the trick, I hope so. -

Microsoft windows defender is not working due to error code 0x80073b01 in windows 8.1
I had purchased this model on 19.10.2013, after that I had been using Norton Antivirus. But recently, I tried to start on Microsoft windows defender, which was already there in my laptop since I had purchased. The OS was windows 8, after that, I had upgraded it to windows 8.1 on recomendations by hp, however, I don't know which bit (either 32 or 64) windows 8.1 is it in my laptop. But the windows defender has never ever started, since begining it has been showing the same error code i.e. 0x80073b01. I have scanned my laptop through "Registry Recycler" also, at the suggestion given on internet, still the same problem is persisting. Please suggest the optimum solution to this problem, as my laptop contains so many firefox cookies and recycler virus.
+- did the same as you said to do i.e. sfc/scannow, but it showed the following message-"Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service."Please tell what to do next, because the problem is still not fixed.

The error code 0xC004E003 means that the Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed.
We may need to involve the phone activation center and check if they can resolve the issue:

Meanwhile, you should post your question in the forum mentioned by Kamin of Ressik. They are the most knowledgeable about the topic.

Security update 2014-001 failed due to errors
I have attempted to load Security update 2014-001 on a 2009 MacPro running 10.8.5 (2x 2.8GHz Quad Xeons with 12GB of RAM and 1.2 GB of space on the OS disk) but it fails "due to errors". I have tried from the App update and directly from the Apple support site. I even reloaded the OS and still get a fail. Of course I suspect a compromise with this result but how do I fix it?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select
/var/log ▹ install.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, click the Clear Display button in the toolbar of the Console window and then try the installation again.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting. -
The Volume Shadow Copy service initially was running under the context of System, so we thought that ‘System’ doesn’t have permissions to access network shares.
When the Volume Shadow Copy service was running under the context of System, this was the error logged:
“failed with following error code '0x8078014B' (There was a failure in creating a directory on the backup storage location.).”
Which is likely due to not having permissions to write to the network location.
This is a scheduled backup trying to write to a network location, so we changes the service to run under the context of an account that does have permissions to write to the network share.
Then the error changed to this:
“failed with following error code '0x8078006B' (Windows Backup failed to create the shared protection point on the source volumes.).”

We aren’t really seeing anything that gives any hint on what the issue is.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!We are trying to back up folders/files from 2 local drives (C: & D:), both of which have only 10% space used, and 100 GB free.
We are attempting to back the files up to a Remote Shared File (and there is 100+ GB free space out there).
If we try another network location, we receive the exact same error.
This is Windows Server 2012, not running Hyper-V and is a physical server not a VM.
Thank you for the link.

Installation fails with "internal error 2502"
I have a client running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (32 bit) and my app's CVI-built installer fails with "Internal Error 2502".
This installation kit has been successfully deployed on hundreds of computers with various versions of Windows and I have never seen this one. No device drivers or advanced libraries - just the standard runtime. I use CVI 9.0.1.
Searches reveal very little - some old issues with Office installation, date/time settings etc. but I have yet to find anything that indicates what this error represents.
Any insights or ideas very welcome.
Thanks,
Ian
Solved!
Go to Solution.That appears to be a Windows Installer (MSI) error, and can have many different causes. Can you confirm that anyWindows installers (perhaps try newest Adobe Reader) work on that system? Is the system's date/time set correctly? Could there be a permissions restriction with C:\Windows\system32 or C:\Programs\National Instruments\Shared?
I'd also try doing an internet search for "installer error 2502" and see what other tips you might find. If all else fails, try running the installer from the command line like this:
setup.exe /log install_log.txt
That will generate a log file that might contain a hint for us.

Hi,
When i tried using the cancel PO API, it resulted in the following error.
Document control failed due to error in [DOCMGR-CANCEL], return code = [OTHER]
I searched the metalink and found out that it was a bug as p_doc_num variable was a number and in PO_HEADERS_ALL segment1 is VARCHAR2. But now the bug is fixed.
I tried both ways, with and without quotes but it is still giving this error. Please suggest.
I used the API in the following way.
DECLARE
l_return_status VARCHAR2(1);
BEGIN
fnd_global.apps_initialize(4480,20707,201);
--call the Cancel API
PO_Document_Control_PUB.control_document (
p_api_version=>1.0, -- p_api_version
p_init_msg_list=>FND_API.G_TRUE, -- p_init_msg_list
p_commit=>FND_API.G_TRUE, -- p_commit
x_return_status=>l_return_status,-- x_return_status
p_doc_type=>'PO', -- p_doc_type
p_doc_subtype=>'STANDARD', -- p_doc_subtype
p_doc_id=>34, -- p_doc_id
p_doc_num=>null, -- p_doc_num
p_release_id=>null, -- p_release_id
p_release_num=>null, -- p_release_num
p_doc_line_id=>null, -- p_doc_line_id
p_doc_line_num=>null, -- p_doc_line_num
p_doc_line_loc_id=>null, -- p_doc_line_loc_id
p_doc_shipment_num=>null, -- p_doc_shipment_num
p_action=>'CANCEL', -- p_action
p_action_date=>SYSDATE, -- p_action_date
p_cancel_reason=>null, -- p_cancel_reason
p_cancel_reqs_flag=>'N', -- p_cancel_reqs_flag
p_print_flag=>null, -- p_print_flag
p_note_to_vendor=>null ); -- p_note_to_vendor
commit;
-- Get any messages returned by the Cancel API
FOR i IN 1..FND_MSG_PUB.count_msg
LOOP
DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line(FND_MSG_PUB.Get(p_msg_index => i,
p_encoded => 'F'));
END LOOP;
END;
/first you have to assign org_id to the program,like fnd_client_info.set_org_context('167');
you also have to initialize,like this
fnd_global.initialize(session_id => l_session_id
,user_id => 2613
,resp_id => 50459
,resp_appl_id => 201
,security_group_id => 0
,site_id => -1
,login_id => 1102144
, --can't be -1,or else will be wrong
conc_login_id => 1102144
,prog_appl_id => -1
,conc_program_id => -1
,conc_request_id => -1
,conc_priority_request => NULL);
