Windows 8 Adobe Reader XI internal error

Hi,
I have created a junction link for a developer user to ensure that the main ssd drive does not become too full.
The main Administrator user that does not have a junction link in the user directory, Adobe Reader works fine.
The developer user that does have a junction link in the user directory, Adobe Reader fails with the indication "internal error". There are no entries in the event viewer indicating why the error occurred.
I was able to track this down as I found a statement indicating protected mode has been improved for Reader XI.
Could someone indicate what securities or permissions are required of the file system to make reader work? All other apps including the metro ones are working fine. Is there an option to set to relax the improved protected mode feature for Reader XI?
Thank you for any input how to resolve this issue.
jonw

I executed acrord32.exe from the command line where surprisingly a dialog box with radio buttons openned and indicated that adobe reader could not open in protected mode due to a system incompatibility. Really? Couldn't output this somewhere in event viewer, or on initial startup? Wow.
Selected always disable protected mode for the user. Now he can read pdf documents.
Thanks,
jonw

  • Adobe Reader XI internal error.

I just installed Adobe Reader XI. Now I can't print.
The message says an internal error occurred.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the product.
    i'm running Windows XP.

Try disabling Protected Mode [Adobe Reader | Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
Also try Print as Image (Advanced button on Print panel).

  • Adobe reader "An internal error has occurred."

Using OSX10.10.1 on Mac Air. I can not open Adobe reader.   It responds with "An internal error has occurred." I have uninstalled Reader and removed to trash all files from libraries related to reader, emptied the trash and have repaired permissions using disc utilities.  I have reinstalled Reader but still get the same result.  I repeated the process.  Then same result.  What do I do now?

    Can you answer the following,
    1. Is this issue seen with Citrix Xenapp 5 server also ? i.e. what happens when you open up a pdf in outlook from server machine.
    2. Also, how frequently is the error seen on the client machine. ?
    3. What's the behavior of opening pdf file outside outlook ?

  • Adobe reader x internal error has occurred

Hi all, I'm Nicola from Italy and work as IT technician in a company.
Today we found that Reader X (10.1.0) cannot view correctly some (but not all) last year PDFs, but 8 and 9 can!
When we open file, Reader X says a generic "Si è verificato un errore interno" ("Internal error has occured"), and we cannot see text in file, but only a part of the header logo. If we go to Edit > Select all we can see text in PDF, but still have problem in scrolling (missing text again) and printing (nothing to print).
Is there an option to check? Or an enchantment to do? Can we make 10 works like 9?
    Thank you all
    Nicola

    Hello Nicola,
The link you gave above (http://www.aermec.com/files/crivellaro/C01_30.013.565.PDF) seems to be dead, could you please repost another valid link or send the file to: [email protected]

  • Reader X: Internal error when copying to clipboard

I get an "internal error" copying to clipboard (Reader 10.1.1, Windows 7 64-bit) when TightVncviewer (V2.0.4) is running simultaneously.
I assume TightVncviewer monitors the clipboard to copy the actual content to the remote machine.
Closing TightVncviewer resolves the issue. However, I need to use that tool frequently so that's an annoying bug.
As a workaround, I downgraded to Reader 9.

  • Can the folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6 and the files it contains simpley be deleted?

My daughter is running Adobe Reader 9.4.5 and Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X
on a Dell Dimension 4400 system with
Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 Service Pack 3.
During a full system backup using Seagate DiskWizard version 11.0.8326
each time folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6
is accessed the pc freezes with the Blue Screen error
IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL ERROR 0x0000000A
    (0x00000166, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804E5443).
Each time the Adobe Reader 6 folder is opened manually, the system presents a spinning
CD icon superimposed on the cursor and attempts to access the CD drive.
The access ultimately fails since there is no CD loaded because there is no intent to install
    anything at the moment.
Through a manual process of backing up each of the the files in the Adobe Reader 6 folder
individually, one at a time, I strongly suspect the problem file to be instmsiw.exe.
Can the folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6 and the files it contains simpley be deleted?
Are there any registry entries or issues that must be addressed before deleting these files?
What is the best way to free up space on the C drive that is apparently being occupied by
files left over from the install of a prior version of Adobe Reader?
The folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6 contains the following files:
    0x0409.ini                        5KB          Configuration Settings        2/18/2003
    abcpy.ini                          2KB          Configuration Settings        3/24/2003

    Setup.ini                        2KB            Configuration Settings        5/19/2003
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and uninstall Adobe Reader 6. That version poses a security risk to your system and should be removed a.s.a.p.
After you remove it, reboot and then delete the "Adobe Reader 6" folder at the location you mentioned above.
Then go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/direct/ and download version 9.4
After that installs, download the latest patch for it by opening the program, then go to Help | Check For Updates.
As a precaution, download the free version of Malwarebytes from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free and then run a full system scan.

    Hi Simon,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble logging in to ExportPDF via Reader. I've checked your account, and all is well there.
For starters, please make sure that you have the most current version of Reader installed by choosing Help > Check for Updates.
If you're still having trouble logging in via Reader, please try logging in to the web interface at https://cloud.acrobat.com.
Please let us know how it goes.

  • How to disable the new logon Window in Adobe Reader 11?

Some times, some corporate guys get an idea - and no one is around to stop them.
For some reason, there's now a logon window in Adobe Reader taking up 1/3 of the screen...and it can't be disabled. Which mor....person...ever thought of something like this?
So my natural question: how does one disable it? And how can this setting be spread out through a Windows domain? Is there any registry setting which can be used to disable it?

Can you post a screenshot of that logon panel?  Never seen that before...

Windows 8 Adobe Reader will not fully open a pdf compiled with several pdf's into one - why?

    Hi Michael,
“AdbeRdr11003_en_US.exe” is the download installed on our CEO’s new Windows 8 laptop.  It is a Dell XPS Re: Windows 8 Adobe Reader will not fully open a pdf compiled with several pdf's into one - why? Dell XPS 13" .  It has a full install Windows 8 Professional for its’ Operating System.
I’ll attempt to attach the file in question.  The file opens fine on our Windows 7, and XP computers (with  the proper Adobe Reader on each).
Our CEO says there is a message that comes up saying he needs Adobe Flash.  I’m attempting to find out whether or not he is trying to open it the ‘Metro’ view, or the ‘Desktop’ view – no answer yet.
If your system strips the attachment, let me know, and I’ll upload the file to an ftp site {if necessary}.

If you haved tried all the fixes and suggestions, there is not much to add. Just in case: did you really try using this tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html to first eliminate all traces of Reader, and then use the full offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/?
