  • Windows 10 Upgrade Support

As many of you have noticed that Microsoft’s new operating system - Windows 10 will be available on July 29, 2015.
For notebooks which have the latest OS Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 update, they can get a one year free upgrade to Windows 10. (All upgrade process can be done online until July 29, 2016.)
MSI Notebook team has been working hard to get everything ready before Windows 10 is officially launched and provide the best user experience to our Windows 10 upgrade users. If you’re interesting in Windows 10, please stay tuned.
For those of you who can’t wait till the official release, use the MSI BurnRecovery tool to create the recovery media before upgrading your system to Windows 10. We can’t guaranteed that all features can work properly on Windows 10’s preview versions.
*If you would like to return to your original system, there are two ways to do so:
       1. Use “Windows settings” function to restore back to your original system.
       2. The recovery media can help you restoring the system back to the factory settings.
Find more detail information about the preparation before your Windows 10 upgrade and how to use the "Windows Settings" to restore the system:

  • Windows 10 Upgrade for a notebook Nvidia Geforce 7150/NForce 630M

I have a HP DV9700 notebook. It originally came with Vista and I was able to upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate with service pack 1. I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 and was given the following message:  unfortunately, this PC is unable to run  Windows 10. Compatibility issue, Nvidia Geforce 7150/nforce 630m the display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatability with Windows 10. I noticed that there were several posts in the desktop forum that gave links to update your display driver to Windows 8 and the work around to install Windows 10. Can anyone help with the laptop?

I used this article and now my Laptop that was told that I cannot use Windows 10 now is running it. A couple bugs but outside of that, works great. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/how-install-windows-10-now-upgrade-gwx-3575135/

  • Portege M750 - Tablet doesn't work after Windows 7 upgrade

Got an Windows 7 upgrade through Toshiba for my M750 tablet pc. Everything went smooth and seems to be working, except (!) the tablet functions. The pen is not recognized. Touch a little bit, but unpredictably.
Please advise what I can do.
    Thanks

    Hi
Are all devices recognized properly in device manager? Have you checked this?
As far as I know you have to install or update the Dual Touch driver. This dirver is for the Digitizer and touch screen model. It enables the functionality that the Tablet PC Pen or finger can be used as a pointing device.
You can download this driver on the Toshiba website.
    Check this!!

  • Chiclet Keyboard usage on Toshiba notebooks

Why are chiclet keyboards taking place so much? I don't like the new island-syle for keyboards so, why not to give a double choice (classic keyboard / chiclet keyboard) to consumers?

As far as I know Sony uses such keyboards for the long time and it doesnt look so bad. Design is nice and I love it very much.
We as customers can make decision which product we want to have so you can check different Toshiba notebook models, test it a bit in show rooms and make decision which keyboard is he best for you.

  • Is there an upgrade option to Windows 7 for existing Vista notebooks?

Toshiba are currently offering upqrades to Win 7 for purchaseers of *NEW* machines with Vista.
What is Toshiba policy for users of *existing* machines with Vista? Will Toshiba provide an OEM upgrade/replacement route or will I have to buy Win 7 commercially?
If I buy and install Win 7, will it invalidate the Toshiba guarantee?
Will Toshiba support continue for a machine upgraded to Win 7, or will OS support be 'transferred' to MS? What will happen if there is some hardware problem, and MS say '+contact your manufacturer+' and Toshiba say '+contact your OS supplier+'?
Toshiba provide a number of tools for mainainting the machine (drivers etc.). Will these be supported/available under Win 7?
    many thanks

    Hello guys
Can we please end this never-ending discussion with some facts?
The situation with driver support is always the same and similar by almost all notebook manufacturers. The same situation was with Vista in the past.
Official Win7 will starts when the first Toshiba notebook come on the market preinstalled with Win7. On Toshiba support page first drivers, tools and utilities will be offered for these new laptops. In next few months Toshiba will offer more and more drivers for old notebook models. I hope you can understand that all this cannot be done over night and for all notebook models at the same time. all these drivers must be adapted and tested. It takes a time.
The question is how many old models will be Win7 supported. This question can nobody answer but I think models produced last year should be fully supported. Lets see.
So I think this with Win7 is clear now.
About warranty you don't need Toshiba but just to check some threads on this forum. It is answered, I believe, 100 times. On your notebook you can install what do you want. It will NOT cancel your valid warranty. Preinstalled OS has nothing to do with warranty. You can install WXP, Linux whatever you want.

  • Upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1: Support and Factory Reset

Hello. With Windows 10 finally out, I'd like to try Windows 10, as it would have the Start Button back (oh yeah), there'll be DirectX 12, and hopefully some compatibility issues of some apps/games would be resolved in Windows 10. I already have a reservation, and while I'm waiting for it to tell me that it's ready to download, I'd want to ask a few things first before upgrading.  [Computer Details: Model: Lenovo G510CPU: i7-4700MQ @ 2.40GhzRAM: 6GBGPU: Switchable Graphics - Intel HD Graphics 4600 and AMD Radeon R7 M265OS: Windows 8.1 Single Language - pre-installed when bought, laptop did not come with any disks] So, to the questions: 1. Will my laptop support Windows 10?1.a. Will Lenovo release Windows 10 drivers (audio, bluetooth, camera, cardreader, energy manager, WLAN, etc.) for the G510? Windows 8.1 has a nifty feature (well at least I think it's nice) in its PC Settings>Update & Recovery>Recovery settings wherein it allows me to Refresh, and,  Reinstall (reset) windows, completely removing files and going back to Factory Settings. Windows 10 is also showcasing the same feature (read it here: http://www.qoncious.com/questions/how-restore-windows-10-factory-settings). So my question then is: 2. Supposing I'd want to reformat my HDD and just get rid of everything, doing spring cleaning (I tend to use a lot of applications and create large files), AND assuming I have installed Windows 10 already, will the "Reset to Factory Settings" option reset my computer back to Windows 8.1 or Windows 10? I'm planning on starting clean when I upgrade to Windows 10, so I don't want to suddenly find out it's rolling back to Windows 8.1.2.a I've also read (here: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/07/31/how-to-skip-the-wait-for-your-windows-10-update | Skip to Appendix A) users who try to directly install Windows 10, naturally those whose computers are already reserved, when they get stopped at a screen that asks them to enter their product key (which they won't have, since they're doing the free upgrade). Random question, what's up with that?!  I think Windows 10 is great, from what I've read and what I'm hearing from my friends who bought computers already in Windows 10. These are my reservations before upgrading, and it'd be nice that I know what I'm getting into before upgrading. Please and thanks!

    Bump.

Hello , Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I came across your post about the Sleep Mode issue, and wanted to assist you! First, try shutting off the Fast Startup option.  Please review the following resource to help you, if needed: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 Also, try downloading and running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.  You can find it here:Open the Windows Update troubleshooter If you are still having trouble, then you can try using the Go back to an earlier build option, in your System Settings: HP Notebook PCs - Upgrading to Windows 10
Once you are back to your original Operating System, check to see if you are experiencing the same issue. If not, then you may consider holding off on the Windows 10 upgrade for a few weeks, until drivers can be updated. Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.

Hard drive was going south. I replaced it with new one. The original OS was Vista but I had upgraded to windows 7 a year ago. I placed the Windows 7 CD into the optical drive and windows begin to load. I got past the point of the screen that ask for language and so forth then my dog jumped on me and pulled the power cord from the computer. I plugged the cord back in and tried to restart the process. Now the first thing that happens is I get the message Bootmgr missing hit ctrl alt delete to restart.
I do not know what to do now.
I can't get into command prompt from shift+ F10, so I am totally lost. Is there any hope??
    Thanks

Are you saying that you inserted the Windows 7 upgrade disc to boot to? Was Windows Vista already installed on the hard drive? Have you run the hard drive test in BIOS?
    I work for HP.

  • Windows 8 upgrade on Satellite P300 - possible?

I want my P300 upgrade to windows 8. Is this possible, and easy to do ?
    Thank you.

Yes, it is possible to install Win 8 but since the Satellite P300 is not a part of the Win8 supported notebook models, you will not find Win 8 drivers.
You will have to search and collect such drivers at your own hand
So this can be a little bit problem but its definitely possible to use Win 8
