Windows do not maximize?

I just realize that when I open a new application none of the windows are opened to the full screen.
Is this normal for Max OS X?

Hi RZetlin,
Yes, it is normal for Mac OS X, and Mac OS 9 and previous OSs too.
Applications that need a Full Screen mode, like DVD Player for example, usually have the feature and a keyboard shortcut.
Other applications "see" it from another viewpoint: the "Zoom" command makes the window fit to the size of the page you are working on. You can create a keyboard shortcut for it too (in System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts).
Of course you can always ajust window's sizes by dragging the bottom-right corner.

  • Window will not maximize

I'm running CC 2014 and the window will not maximize. I even try manually enlarging the window, but Indesign snaps the window size back down to the smaller size. FYI... I just updated to the latest version of CC2014, and the issue is still present.

  • Elements window will not maximize, help please

For some reason my photoshop elements window will not maximize.  The editor workspace will just fine, but not the organizer.  I am using elements 6 and Vista.  Anyone else seen this happen?  I can see it on my task pane and it previews the screen for me, but when I click it, nothing happens.

  • Firefox opens, and preview shows when hover on the task bar link, but the window will not maximize, or show up at any size on my screen (Windows 7) Help?!

I am running Windows 7 and just updated Firefox to the 7.0 version. I can open Firefox, in the sense that I can run the application. I can see that it is open because the link shows up on my task bar, and when I hover over it I can see the thumbnail preview - which, incidentally says "You're almost there!"; but I can not open the window! I have tried clicking once on the task bar link, and once again (just in case I was clicking to minimize instead of maximize). I have tried double clicking the shortcuts on my desktop, then the one in my program files, as well as the one in my start menu, and the static one pinned to my task bar. I have tried accessing Firefox from every path available on my computer and I can open it every time, but *never* not even once have I been able to view it on my screen. I can't understand what would cause this and maybe I'm just an idiot but can anybody help me... please? Oh, and I don't know if it makes any difference, but I did try restoring 6.0 and I re installed 7.0 again, all to the same end... Many thanks to anyone willing to help me fix this!

-> [[Software Update Failed#w_run-as-administrator|Run as Administrator]]
-> right-click Firefox icon and choose Properties
    * go to Compatibility tab
    * click Use Resolution 640x480 pixels
    * click OK and start Firefox
-> Firefox will now start but you should be able to change the size of the window.
    * Close Firefox and now Uncheck the 640x480 resolution
    * Start Firefox again and now all should be fine
Check and tell if its working.

  • Safari window will not maximize

this just started and i do not know why. Whenever i try to maximize window in safari it actually minimizes window to the lower left hand corner

Just drag it from the bottom r/h corner.
Alternatively, Glims has an option for full screen Safari. It does other really useful thinbgs as well:
If you want to fix your Google search to a specific Google location, I recommend that you download and install the free plug-in Glims:
    http://www.machangout.com/
which not only does that but much more equally useful stuff! (Such as automatically deleting Flash cookies, enabling Safari to run full-screen, and more.)
(It adds items to Safari Preferences).
Not only does it already list a number of search engines and regions, but you can also add any other search engine not already listed in Glims by using the method described here:
    http://www.machangout.com/tutorials/addsearchengine
Just enter the name you give the search engine in the name field, and the URL for it in the Query URL field.

  • Structured framemaker window does not maximize and other issues

    Dear All,
My questions concerns the use of FM11 & FM12 in Structured FrameMaker mode under Windows 8.1.
When FM is started in Structured mode I find that the FrameMaker window is a fraction of the size that it was when operating in Unstructured mode. When the FM (structured) window is maximized instead of the window occupying the full screen as expected it occupies only about 2/3 of the screen. The receptors of dialog buttons (e.g. the OK and CANCEL buttons) are not at the locations of the on screen drawings of the buttons. In short, the Structured FrameMaker interface is not functional. And to be clear the interface of the Unstructured version of the program works in the expected manner.
My reason for operating with Structured FrameMaker in the first place is to workaround a very serious deficiency in the Unstructured version of the program in which attempting to print a book to the Adobe PDF virtual printer causes FrameMaker to crash. Another gripe with FrameMaker is that the Save As PDF file option fails to properly render the document - typically incorrect fonts are used in the output PDF file, equations are clipped, etc. etc. It is this deficiency that means we must print to the Adobe PDF virtual printer.
We are also experiencing intermittent crashing of the program in versions 11 & 12 for no apparent reason whereas previously (version 7, 5.5) the program seemed to be more robust.
Are others experiencing a significant deterioration in the performance of FrameMaker in recent releases? Are you considering changing to a different program? If so, what programs are you considering?
    Many thanks,
    David.

    David,
FYI, the SaveAsPDF route also uses the AdobePDF printer instance, so some of the issues are due to selected output options and Distiller joboptions.  Also, both versions (structured and unstructured) use the same output mechanism independent of the interface.
The appearance of the interface is a function of the Workspace selected and any customization done by the user of that interface. You can create your own layouts and save them as required as a custom Workspace.
What did you select when you used the SaveAsPDF - RGB or CMYK? What joboptions file was specified?
Are you using any OTF Pro level or TTF WGL fonts? Is your joboptions file specifying that all fonts be embedded?

  • ITunes will not maximize after installing 12.0

iTunes window would not maximize - reinstalled and took the update of 12.0 and still have the issue of not being able to maximize out beyond the taskbar - any suggestions?

    Hello gkrause1518,
If the window for iTunes will not open when you start the application, I would recommend the troubleshooting from the following article, named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
Theres a lot to it, but just follow it from the top to the bottom in order.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Running FF3.6.8 on Windows 7, 3 window buttons not in top right hand corner ( minimize, maximize and exit) . how do i get these to appear ?

when FF 3.6.8 loads it loads everything except the the classic window buttons (minimize, maximize and exit ) do not appear in the top right hand corner as the normally would. it seems as though the page has been cut off or the monitor screen is to little for the whole page to load.

It is possible that the screen is too wide or too high.
Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.

  • Firefox opens but will not maximize.

Out of nowhere Firefox will not maximize. The icon for it is at the bottom left on Windows 8, and I can hover over that icon and see a small version of a Firefox browser window, but I can't get it to open all the way or maximize so I can actually use it. Any suggestions are appreciated - thanks!

Occasionally the Firefox window will get off screen. Here are three different approaches to getting that window into view. One of them should work!
'''Firefox Window "off screen" — Arrow Key Method'''
If you know that Firefox is off to a particular side, you can use the arrow keys to move it back on screen. You only need to move it far enough to be able to click the title bar and then you can drag it the rest of the way.
Make the Firefox tile active on the task bar and press this key combination to start moving the window:
    Alt+Spacebar > m
(To clarify, that's Alt+Spacebar to open the window control menu, then the letter m to start moving the window.)
Press the arrow key for the direction you want to move the window, e.g., press the left arrow key to move the window left. Press the Enter key to complete the move.
'''Firefox Window "off screen" — Maximize + New Window Script Method'''
If Firefox is nowhere to be found but you know it's out there, try this method.
Make the Firefox tile active on the task bar and press this key combination to maximize the window:
    Alt+Spacebar > x
(To clarify, that's Alt+Spacebar to open the window control menu, then the letter x to maximize the window.)
    ''If that works,'' try this:
    (1) Copy the following line of code to the clipboard (it's all one line...):
    newwin=window.open(window.location.href, "_blank", "width=640,height=480,menubar,toolbar,personalbar");newwin.moveTo(0,0);
    (2) In the maximized window, press Ctrl+Shift+k to open the web console.
    (3) Press Ctrl+v to paste the line of code next to the caret (») then press Enter to run it. A new copy of that page should open in a window positioned at the top left of the screen.
    (4) Switch back to the maximized window and close it first, before doing anything in the new window.
'''Firefox Window "off screen" — Remove Settings File'''
If you can't move or maximize Firefox, you can rename or delete the settings file that stores the last window position.
    (1) Open your currently active Firefox settings folder (AKA Firefox profile folder).
From the Start menu (Run box or search box), paste this into the search box and press Enter:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
This should open a window showing one or more Firefox profile folders. If you have multiple folders, look for the most recent. Click into your profile folder.
    (2) If Firefox is still running, right-click it on the Task Bar and Close all Windows.
    (3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your profile folder, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something else, like localstore-bad.rdf or localstore.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
    (4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.
    Any luck?

  • REMOTEAPP Windows is not complete!

    Hello,
I try to publish Google Chrome in
remoteapp(Windows 2012) and the window does not open
completely.Do you have an idea.Look at the picture
    attached.
    thank you
    SM

    Hi,
Does this happens only for google chrome or for any other App you have published?
Is this a maximize size of google chrome? Did you check this behavior on another system?
Please describe the App behavior in more details with what you want to have.
Normally the window size is set by the application based on user preferences/application design/maximum local resolution. Suppose, if we publish any App and we run it on RemoteApp after that we closed that App in minimized. So after that when user open that
RemoteApp it will see the same behavior as it will be in minimized. Thus if last time if closed in normal state then it will open at that size due to local resolution supports it.
Try for user to open a RemoteApp, resize it, and then close it.  Make sure their user session clears from RDS Manager. Open the RemoteApp again.  The RemoteApp should then appear at the same size the user resized it to in the previous session.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Vista x64 Acrobat window won't maximize or restore properly

I have tried a couple times to run Windows Vista Ultimate x64, but there have been enough problems that I've decided to go back to 32-bit. One of these problems is with Acrobat 8.1.2 Pro.
Whenever I open a PDF in Acrobat, if the window opens fully maximized and I try to restore it to a smaller window, the PDF document does not resize accordingly. It is still zoomed in to the same size as when it was maximized and as a result, I can't see the scroll bar because it's off the window. If I open the PDF in a window that is a smaller restored window and then maximize it, the PDF document again does not resize and remains the same small size that it was in the restored window with the scroll bar in the middle of the now maximized window with just a bunch of useless gray area where the document should have expanded to. The same problem occurs when the window is manually resized as well.
The only workaround I've found is to close the document and reopen it so that the window starts off either maximized, restored, or the new size that you changed it to. This is a real pain, especially when you're in the middle of doing something in the middle of the document.

So I narrowed the problem down to Logitech's SetPoint software. I started from a clean install of Windows Vista x64, installed Acrobat first, and tested it after installing each driver or program. The problem started after installing SetPoint and would stop after closing it. I also found a post on Logitech's forum describing the problem with screen shots: http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=software_mice&message.id=10402 . So I thought I'd found the source of the problem, until I had my computer completely up and running except for the SetPoint software and discovered Acrobat was having the same problem! I have basically every program that I use regularly installed, so it won't be as easy to narrow it down this time. I tried stopping services and testing Acrobat with them stopped, but never got the problem to go away. Hopefully a solution will be found soon.

  • IPod Nano: Error Message "The USB device has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it"

Hi everyone, I just received 2 brand new iPod Nanos for my kids for Christmas, thought I'd be smart and sync them both now before wrapping them so I don't have to be messing around with them on the day. One synced without a problem, then using the same cable, same computer, same USB port, the 2nd one came up with "The USB device has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it" I've tried restarting my computer, unplugging and reinserting the USB. Is there anthing else I can try before returning it? Thanking you for any help.

I have solved my problem, I ended up ringing Apple and got an awesome lady who told me to reset it by pressing the sleep button and menu button together for about 10 seconds and once it actually turned on for the first time the computer then recognised it, so it's all good, :-) Thank you lovely lady!
