any ideas on what I should be looking for?

Hi,
Did you install any 3rd application recently? You can use ShellEX to check shell problem.

  • Even in Safe Mode, minimize, restore, and close buttons are missing, though the functions remain, and a dialog box now comes up when opening FF.

Ever since I installed the latest Firefox update, the minimize, restore, and close buttons are visually missing, though their functions are still present.
I have also started to have one of those dialog boxes asking whether or not I would like to allow a program to make changes to my PC come up when I open Firefox.

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
    * Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    * "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.

  • Every once in a while, a black box will cover the windows minimize, maximize, and close buttons, and then I can't minimize firefox quickly or easily.

After a bunch of browsing, a black window takes over the windows caption bar and covers the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. When this happens, I can't close firefox except by accessing the firefox menu. And there is no way to minimize or maximize the window.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />

    * You can open the Firefox 4.0+ SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''

  • My Minimize, Maximize, and Close Buttons are not functional in Firefox 13.0.1

I recently downloaded Firefox 13.0.1.. For the past several days the minimize, maximize, and exit buttons located in the top right hand corner have been non functional almost immediately upon starting a browser session. I have tried disabling plugins with no success. I have experienced the same problem when running safe mode. I have attempted to disable hardware accelerators. I have even tried resetting to default settings.. For the record
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) with 2 GB of RAM as well as Norton Antivirus.. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi <b>rosmaninho</b>
Can you please start a new thread for your question?
Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons are invisible

I have rather werid problem with Firefox since yesterday. Mainly the three buttons at the top corner are invisible. I can still click on them but I cannot see them, as if they are obscured by upper tab.
I tried to launch Firefox in safe mode and I use standart theme. If I restart the computer it is fine, but once I close firefox and then open it again( or even if I just open new window) problem returns.

If you use a non standard windows theme or made other appearance changes then try to revert those changes and use a (different) standard theme or Windows wallpaper.
    * Control Panel > Personalization > Theme & Window Color and Appearance
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • How to relocate the Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons on the window

I am a right-hand user, and would prefer if all my Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons on the window are relocated to the right hand side of the window. Anyone got any suggestion to do it ?

This is just something you end up getting used to, at least it was the case for me.
It is not possible to move this, without the help of third-party software.
ShapeShifter is offers customisation of the look of the Windows, but I don't know if it can move the buttons.
    http://www.unsanity.com/haxies/shapeshifter
But I don't know if it is compatible with Leopard yet.

My Firefox crashed with important information on it!!!
My Firefox has been crashing every day sometimes several times a day. I have emailed your staff back many times looking for a reason for the crashed without any response. I have been able to get by because I would restore the settings and continue what I was doing. WELL….this last crash has disappeared from any way of getting it back and IT HAD SOME REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT OPENED WINDOWS I WAS WORKING ON (EMPLOYMENT INFO, I AM UNEMPLOYED!) AND NOW THEY ARE GONE AND I CANNOT GET THEM BACK!! YOU NEED TO HELP ME RESTORE THAT OPEN WINDOWS FOR ME. IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT!! I NEED SOME DESPERATE HELP NOW!!
    Thanks,
    Nick

Nick, sorry to hear about that. I'm not sure where you are sending the emails, but if you use the form to submit your crash information, that goes into a database for review by the developers instead of coming to the support volunteers here.
Did you try the History > Restore Previous Session command? Firefox sometimes saves form data in the session history. This data may age out, so you should use that menu item as soon as possible.
Going forward, consider installing the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lazarus-form-recovery/ Lazarus: Form Recovery] extension if you are filling long forms and Firefox is unstable.
With respect to the crashes, there are many possible reasons for Firefox to crash. Have you reviewed the help articles for diagnosis? For example: [[Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes]].

I tried to rent a tv show today and discovered the rent buttons are gone. What Happened to them?

Apple removed TV show rentals, citing lack of customer interest (ironic, I know).

As the title states everytime I boot up my mini mac the 'go back' and 'continue' buttons are greyed out and I cannot continue with the installation. I even went out and bought an external cd drive to try and load the operating system and that did not work either.

Hi, what OS version is it? And which year Mini?

  • Minimize, Maximize, Close Buttons are no Longer Displayed

I just downloaded Mac OS 10.4.5, and iTunes 6.0.3, when I minimize the window to sit in the corner of my screen, the Close, Minimize, and Maximize buttons are now just white circles, instead of the standard red, yellow, and green.
This is really annoying. Has anyone experienced this? If so, how do I fix this?
None of these issues occurred before downloading Mac os 10.4.5.
    Thanks,
    Albert.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Contents removed. Thought I had a 'fix'. Did not appear to be true.

This seems to be normal behaviour with the latest iTunes version(s).
Did not notice it before. The 'traffic lights' only show their colours, when iTunes is the frontmost Application.

  • Missing maximize, minimize and close buttons

I see that people have been having problems with these issues before the finalized FF4, I have the most updated version on my PC. The answers all seem to say it was a problem with beta versions. When I stay online for long periods of time my full screen, minimize and close buttons disappear. I have 2 screens and have found that when I pull a tab to the other screen the buttons reappear with that tab. But all the tabs still on previous screens are still missing. If I pull the whole set of tabs (opened together) I still can not get the buttons to reappear. when I am ready to close all the open tabs at once I use task manager and close down FF4. Right now I see my background screen where the button should be.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

  • My code/split/design buttons are gone. How do I get them back?

I must have hit some command but my code/split/design buttons are gone. Also are the "live view", etc. How do I get them back.
I looked under both the window and view tabs but couldn't find anything that retrieves them.
Attached is a screen grab of the area that is missing.
Could someone please tell me how to get it back
    Thanks in advance
    Cliff

Right click the toolbar area and make sure there's a check by Document, or go to View > Toolbars and check it.
EDIT: Make sure you have a document open (even a new blank one will do) or the options may not show up.

  • Installed 10.4.8, now my yellow buttons are gone...

After installing 10.4.8, some (not all) of the yellow "minimize window" buttons are gone. Anyone else experience this, and if so, what'd you do about it?
    Tks!
    Butch

    Hi Butch,
Are you using any third party menubar items (haxies)? Try a safe boot holding the "shift" key.
If this works look in System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login items and disable any third party login items.
    Let us know.
