Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2

Microsoft is on a roll. According to WPCentral it looks like members of the developer preview program will see Update 2 released to their devices around 10/8/2014.
List of unconfirmed features:
The ability to create groups of applications in the application list
Sorting options in the Settings
File manager application becomes a system, so as to be able to use other applications
The ability to change the default messages application
News communications - DLNA, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth Profiles

And we're still waiting for 8.1

If you look at the Nokia windows 8.1 availability site you'll notice all CDMA Carriers are listed as still Under Test.
Microsoft shows Under Test to mean anything (carrier testing, MS testing, FCC testing, etc.).
The fact that ALL CDMA Carriers are Under Test tells me that other than developer edition for beta feedback, Microsoft has not yet released the final 8.1 update (nor its Cyan update to 8.1) to any of these carriers.
IMHO there may also be a gag agreement in reseller contracts preventing carriers from publicizing that they are still waiting on Microsoft to release the final version for these carriers to finally test, which would explain why NONE of the CDMA Carriers have answered any inquiries into 8.1 availability.
So as much as I like to hold carriers accountable and even file complaints with the FCC when appropriate, reality is this might all be on Microsoft and the carriers may be as helpless as we are.

How to get Windows phone 7.8 update??

I've a Nokia Lumia 800. I realise there is a new update for the Nokia Lumia , Windows Phone 7.8. Yet I still have the old 7.5 version. My phone tells me that it's up to date but obviously it's not, my computer also says it's up to date. Please help, how do I get the new 7.8 update?

Once available for your device you will get a notice on the phone. Next time you connect to your PC with Zune running you will be able to update.
At this time Microsoft has halted the update process due to a found issue which needs to be fixed. No information on when the update will resume or restart is currently available but is expected to be shared as soon as Microsoft is ready with the issue.

EE Windows Phone 8.1 Update Announcement?

EE has a testing policy like every other network.
If you want an update announcement like that then join O2.
EE has decided not to do this because their testing policy is stricter than other networks so take longer and sometimes it fails the test so has to be sent back to be altered. This causes delays and which will mean deadlines missed.

What should have the next update of Windows Phone ...

In the next firmware update of Nokia Lumia 1020 and all the Windows Phone 8.3 update should have at least 4 extra functions and 8 updates.
1. To exist 4 arrows up, down, left and right or at least the 2 basic arrows which is left and right in typing messages keyboard.
Cause i have big fingers and i cant go exactly to the letter of the word that i want to correct - change.
2. In typping messages i prefer to draw the letters just as i was writing to a blank paper or at least like SWYPE.
3. I want to predownload the Sattelite View maps of a country and not just the ordinary one.
4. It should have Ring Profiles such us Meeting, Loud Area, Silence and other.
A. Need update the levels of the brightness of the screen.
At this moment it has only 3 steps (Low-Medium-High), so it needs at least 2 more such us (Very Low and Very High).
B. In Screen Lock needs up to 10 options for software fast state.
C. In Fast Eye View in Night Mode should have not only 3 colors such us (Red,Green,Blue) but all the 20 colors that Thems has.
The Size of the clock should be adjustable and not just one size.
It should have at least 3 sizes (Small-Medium-Large).
D. The camera should take only 1 photo in 38MP and not 2 photos 5MP+38MP.
Also we should have the ability to edit the 38MP on my phone and not only on my PC.
E. In Bluetooth i dont have any options.
I need to change my BlueTooth Name and i cant.
Also I want to set some BlueTooth devices to white and black list and i cant.
F. I should have the option to know how much battery i have in percentage between 0-100% also in minutes left.
G. In Wifi options i should know how much in percent is the signal between 0-100%.
H. The tiles even when it is in small or medium size should be move as it was in large size.
Also anyone who has any ideas that should been add any new funtion or anything else in the next Widnows Phone Update added down please.
P.S. I have the Nokia PureView 808 and i want to transfer Contacts, Messages, Calendars, Notes, Photos, Music, Videos to my new Nokia Lumia 1020 and i cant.
How can i transfer it all fast, secure and easy?

1. Ok but is says up something about Hotmail can i remove the hotmail option also?.
2. I deselect the Sync for the accounts but still left some contacts inside my phone.
Also when i want to backup my telephone numbers what i must do but not get messed with the email accounts.
I want to backup the phone numbers as i did with my nokia account.
My nokia account doesnt work with my lumia 1020.
3. In the 1st i need to tap 2 times and then save.
Cause the 1st menu is History Calls and if i tab once continue then the only option that i have is erase element.
When i tab once then it goes me to profil for call and sms so i tab continue the call number and gives me the option copy.
This to moves could be as one as it is in Symbian Belle.
Not need to tab 2 times.
In the 1st menu when i tab continue should give me 3 options Edit,Copy,Erase.
Thats why Symbian Belle still rules.
4. I dont want to use 1st the name cause also i have more contacts that have the same name than have contacts who have the same last name.
Also many of the names and last names i have it use more than 10 characters in 1st and in last name each.
So total is more than 20 characters without spaces or other characters.
for example "Panagiotis Papadopoulos" is 23 characters most of the names that i have inside is between 20-30 characters.
Please do something about that.
5. Still need fix must disconnect the volume zoom from ringtone and vibration.
Also need vibration some choices as continoues or with short pauses or increasing - decrease vibrating.
6. I have 3 classes which are 40 people in each.
So total is 120 students.
I cant do 6 Groups for informing them.
I need 1 up to 3 Groups not more.
Also my co-workers are about 100 I cant do more than 1 or 2 Groups.
My relatives are also about 60 also i need 1 Group again.
I cant have so many groups as you tell me.
Basicly I need 3 Groups to be easy and practicaly for me not 20 Groups.
If Groups is not about then for what is?
Also why in Symbian Belle i could add as many as i wanted and here i cant?
What then i need to do 3 Groups?
7. I try to do what you are telling me and it works only when i am not use 1st the search button.
1st i must found the people that i want to inform.
For example i set character 1 for class 1
then when i use the search to find who is in class 1
then shows me all the students in class 1
but i must choose everyone, one by one and do all the same steps from the beggining.
it should give me the option when has found the 30 person to set some box in the left and chooce all of them.
That is not happening.
Please check it.
8. Finaly I found my 5MP + 38MP in the phone but 1st i must extract the 38MP to my computer so to edit.
But i want to use always only my 38MP and never my 5MP photos.
So we need some how to disable the option to take 2 pictures one 5MP and one 38MP.
Its must take only one 38MP and nothing else.

Has anyone else not received notification of updates? I haven't received one store notification for an app update in a week, including all the recently updated Nokia system apps.
Is this a known issue?

Note we suspect one of the updates is causing the remove from charger sound and also possible causing the phone to freeze for some users as well. So user beware.

Nokia Lumia 1520 upgraded to Windows Phone 8.1 G.D...

Today I accepted the Fast Ring (which was the only offered ring) programme on my Nokia Lumia 1520 to install the latest preview builds of Windows 10 and provide feedback for Microsoft... but here's the odd part, it installed Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2/G.D.R. 2 and doesn't show anything even remotely related to Windows 10, whenever I go back to the Windows Insider Hub it tells me that it'll reboot my device, then it shows me everything that's new in Windows Phone 8.1 (Blue) - with Nokia Lumia Cyan, and then doesn't change anything. ¿So how can I install the Windows 10 preview? Note that I don't have a developer's account and did not download it via the Windows Phone Developer Preview Hub, I installed it over Windows (Phone) Update and did it exactly as other Windows Insiders previously have.

I have a window phone 635 that came with window phone 8.1 so I singed up for the developer program so I can see what window phone 8.1 update 1 was all about but I would now would like too downgrade. Back to window phone 8.1 if I can some one tell me how to do it all so Wil Nokia. Recovery. Tool do the trick?

Issue sideloading app on windows phone.

I have a windows phone 8.1 running windows phone 8.1 update preview.
Prompts me for "Add Workplace account?" instead of the 'install company app' when I download and install the AET.aetx certificate.
The app never appears in the applist.
Please advise where i'm going wrong.

same issue with my app.
After generating the app I received e-mail with instructions and links how to install it.
Steps:
1) click install certificate link - asks if I want to install Microsoft Corporation workplace account. Accepted and installed.
2) click install app link - download the app and then asks if I want to Search the Store.
My App is not installed. What I'm doing wrong? Some time ago I installed other app with no issues, but after some updates to App Studio I'm not able to do it anymore.
Maybe there are some conflict with previous certificates? How can I check/remove them?

Unable to detect NFC tag (ISO15693) in Lumia 830 on windows Phone 8.1

Microsoft in Windows phone 8.1 has added new Nfc related features including low level access(Non NDEF). I have Nokia Lumia 830 (PN547 NFC chipset is present in this device).Im not able to detect Nfc tag (ANT-7M24LR-A ,ISO15693) through Lumia 830, which
im able to read/write using Nfc-V(ISO15693) in Android. I also have a Lumia 720 (old NFC hardware) but atleast it is able to detect the tag. Has anyone encountered this ? Whats the workaround ?

I have taken reference of the NFC Smart Card Reader project(nfcsmartcardreader codeplex) to read/ write to the tag. We are trying to read/write to the tag (ISO 15693) using the low level APIs (Non NDEF format).
But my problem is that even before we can send/receive the data from the tag, the phone is not detecting the tag itself. If i try to debug the card added event doesnot fire in any case for (ANT-7 M24-LR-A) tag.
I also have a Lumia 720 (old NFC hardware) but it is atleast able to detect the above mentioned tag.
Lumia 830 is able to detect other tags like a generic NFC sticker (Mifare Ultralight) .

Well, have you tied to read NFC Tag using Proximity API? If not, please refer to this article:

I get exactly the same error on Windows 8.1 Enterprise. After installing Windows Phone Emulator via MobileTools_EmulatorWP81GDR1. I did repair of "Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 SDK and Emulators - ENU" but the error persists.
Any news regarding solution to this issue?

Spotify on Windows Phone 8.1 has become practically unusable

Hey Folks, I've had this problem for a long time (many many months) and have been too lazy to post assuming that this is a issue affecting loads of others and that it would just get sorted but I've come to the point where I really need to find out what is happening. I absolutely love Spotify and use it reuglarly on my ipad and windows phone however my love affair with Spotify on my phone ispractically over. The app has become really unreliable and more often than not...unusable. Often it takes forever to load and I just see the scrolling (loading) green dots for ages before I give up. Ages being 5-10 minutes before I lose interest. Assuming I do get in, I then go to my playlists and the whole thing happens again, more and more scrolling which sometimes results in the playlists being revealed or again i just simply give up. If I do get to a playlist, I will select it....cue more scrolling whilst it tries to load the track lists which invariably never happens. Art work, none existent and if I do manage to play one track, the rest of the tracks on the album fail to get listed. If I even dare to go back to look at the playlists again, the whole thing starts over. It can literally take me twenty minutes to get round to playing one track! You'd think that this might be the sort of behaviour you'd get in a area of bad signal but this happens when i'm at home using my 50mb wifi and despite being connected to my wifi, which is reliable on all my other systems, I often get the message saying that Spotify is offline or can't connect to the network. I assume that this isn't a problem with my phone and is affecting others out there but it's become intolerable and since i pay my monthly premium Spotify subscription I expect a product that works. I understand that things get glitchy but this has been happening for the best part of the year and I really should now cancel my payments. If the problem gets fixed then I'd gladly sign up again and pay the fee but at the mo I'm not sure what I'm paying for. I never have this problem with the app on my ipad so clearly this is a windows phone problem. I have tried deleting the app and resintalling but nothing seems to work. Could you guys advise anything else I can try or at least let me know that you're aware of the problem and are trying to fix it and let us know when an update will be sent out. I know this didn't happen when I first used Spotify over a year or two ago. Thanks :-)

Hi, So glad it's not just me that is having this issue. The app is virtually unusable at the moment. The thought of having to uninstall and then spend hours, maybe days, re-syncing is not something I'll consider. Just sent the following e-mail - I'll let you know their response. If they offer me 2 months free, I'll ask them to take the offer and place it where the sun don't shine. Premium is pointless if the app doesn't work!!!!! Hi, I hope you can help. I have been a Spotify premium customer for a fair while now, and up until recently, would have recommended you to anyone - in fact, I have done just that, many times. However, seeing as you seem unable to sort out the issues with the app on Windows phone, I feel our relationship is at breaking point, and that makes me sad. A summary of the issues I have.1) Speed - It would be quicker for me to go visit the band, ask then to set up their instruments and play a song for me than it is to start the app, and get to a playlist - even when connected to wifi. I have a commute of around 90 minutes, and about a 3rd of that is spent trying to get to a playlist and start it actually playing2) Reliability - quite frankly, this is a joke. When I eventually get to a playlist, try and open it, it crashes. Admittedly, these playlists are quite large (700+ songs) but it's now started doing it on smaller playlists (one in particular is 270 songs). Considering the amount if time it takes to get to a playlist, and the time I spend curating these playlists, the thought of having to break these down into smaller chunks is not something I am willing to consider at this point.3) Syncing - 48 attempts (yes, I'm that sad that I counted) to sync a playlist of 700 songs. Sometimes it just stops (seemingly randomly) and says 'pending'. I later found out that this is because songs on the playlist had been removed by the artist (yes, I'm looking at you Prince!!!). Once I'd fired up the desktop app, removed these from the playlist) and then re-opened the app on my phone (after it had crashed) it would start syncing again. And then stop. And then crash. Surely it could simply skip unavailable files rather than just stop. I'm really rather fed up. I love Windows Phone. It's UI is far better than anything Android or that other lot have come up with, it syncs with my other Windows devices, and the majority of the apps I use (with the exception of iPlayer) are pretty darn perfect. They work. They don't crash, nor take an age to load. So please, please, please tell me that a) you are working on a fix, and b) that you will treat us Windows Phone users as equals. Some of us are normal. You'll probably ask for these so here are my detailsPhone - Lumia 640 (was the same on my old phone - a Lumia 920)OS - Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 (8.10.15148.160)Spotify Username - rm4rml I don't want to move to one of the rivals, as I've been a Spotify user for as long as I can remember. Problems with windows phone

Basically the user created directly in Intune ([email protected]) works fine on all platforms
(Windows and Windows Phone), users syncronzed by AD Sync ([email protected]) works in login form
(i.e. to access Company Web Portal), in Windows enrollment (i.e. Intune Client installation), in Windows Phone 8.0 devices, but fails (or better don't find settings) only from Windows Phone 8.1 devices.....
We've also updated our DNS in order to send enterpriseenrollment.ourcompanyname.it requests to manage.microsoft.com
as per documentation...

It's believed to fix the following issues:
lingering issues with those not getting the Lumia Cyan firmware
errors in installing
and even a fix for HTC users
