Windows Server Essentials error occurred while configuring on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

That is all the information that you need to provide. Your server is being prepared for use and may restart more than once. This may take up to 30 minutes.
It goes to 3% and the encounters an error saying An error occurred while configuring Windows Server Essentials. Please try again.  I don't seem to find anything in the log to indicate why it fails.

Hi boe_d,
Based on your description, did you mean that this error was occurred in process of installing the Windows Server
Essentials Experience Role on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard? If I misunderstand, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
If it is, have you re-tried the role installation? Please check if still go to 3% and then get the same error
message.
In addition, please add
ServerAdmin$ account to the Logon as a service Group Policy, and then monitor the result. For more details, please refer to the following article.

I need help with Mavricks Server, I get the following: an error occurred while configuring your server.  I have deleted the Server.app several times along with the associated com.apple and Server folder.  Any more help would be appreciated.

There are usually some log files around, related to the installation.  See if Console.app (Applications > Utilities) shows anything relevant to the error, when you've done a fresh install of Server.app and tried the configuration.

    Hi there,
My Mac OS X Server 8.2 got buggered after I did the following steps:
Wiped Profile manager using "/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/share/devicemgr/backend/wipeD B.sh"
Clicking the Off button in the Profile Manager section of the Server.app
Clicking the On button of the same
Clicking on asks if I want to create a new directory master, but I know that one already exists.  Trying to continue confirms this.  So, I go and destroy it to start again, but afterward, I get the following error when trying to create the directory master:
I've done this enough times while watching the system log to see the actual error thrown, which is:
Nov 12 22:01:24 srv.domain.com Server[279]: An error occurred while configuring srv as a directory server:
        Error Domain=XSActionErrorDomain Code=-1 "A child action failed" UserInfo=0x7fee9516c0f0 {XSActionErrorActionsKey=(

I have Googled the above and have discovered only a few entries here in these Apple communities, but have found no joy.
    Here's a similar threads:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19237429#19237429
Interestingly/confusingly, this server has been working just fine as a domain master using different domain names (on separate occasions/setups).  It was only after having clicked the OFF button in Profile Manager (after a wipe) that things stopped working.
I could rebuild this server, as I have a backup image of it that I can restore, but I'd rather find out what's broken and fix it so as to hopefully be able to fix it if/when this ever happens to me again, learning something in the process.
That said, I perform the following steps prior to running the Open Directory setup on a the server to try and clean it up as best possible.
    Clean up steps:
Delete the DNS zone (and all entries).
    Turn off all server services
    Delete all file server sharepoints
Change the host name at Hardware => SRV => Network tab.  This runs the Change Host Name program.
    Close Server.app
Throw Server.app in the trash / Empty trash (I've also just trashed and put back with same result)
    Delete the /Library/Server directory
Clear and recreate System keychain using "systemkeychain -vfcC" to clear out all the certs related to old host name.
Delete all the entries in the Login keychain
    Reboot (probably don't have to)
    Re-download and install Server.app
Run Server.app, which actually retains some settings from the last setup, though I don't know where to clean those.
After Server setup, confirm that the host name from step 4 is what I want.
Running "changeip -checkhostname" shows "Success".  I'm using an Internet domain name so pinging the "internal" zone (srv.domain.com) resolves with the correct internal IP, and pinging the "external" zone resolves to the correct external address on the Internet.
It would seem like I'm all good to go, but when I try to turn on Open Directory and go through the setup prompts, I get the same "Confirm Settings" error as above.
The *only* way that I've come close to "fixing" this is to cancel out of the Profile Manager.  Then, go destroy the open directory that already exists.  Then create the domain via the Profile Manager enabling process.  At present, this only seems work to for a "private" domain.  Neither of the two Internet domain names that I've used successfully in the past work with this (or any) method.
Any advice or clues you can throw my way would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kim

  • An unexpected error occurred while configuring the Network Bridge

Windows XP Pro SP2, a new TP61 6460 6WG, all Win updates, all Lenovo updates.
Everything works fine except... when I'm trying to create a network bridge I always get the following: An unexpected error occurred while configuring the Network Bridge.
This is not the situation described in Microsoft's Knowledge Base KB309640 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309640/en-us). I have no ICS, no ICF.
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem and was really frustrated. I was about to pull my hairs out but then i was finally able to solve it. The solution is deleting some files of WMI repository. The complete details can be found on my blog http://cheatppc.blogspot.com/2008/07/unexpected-error-has-occured-while.html
    Hope this solves the problem.

  • An error occurred while creating a Page Server subprocess.

I am using XI R2 SP5 on solaris.
When we try to view any report on demand or schedule any report that has a parameter, the following error comes back:
An error occurred while creating a Page Server subprocess.
I have tried restarting the services. I have tried creating a new page server. It behaves the same way. In other online forms, I've seen with this error message, people have talked about fixing it by installing SP2 or by uninstalling and reinstalling everything. We're at SP5, so we should have anything that was fixed at SP2. An uninstall and then reinstall would be a nightmare given the amount of use on this system.
Can anyone recommend anything at all? I'm about to have our unix admins reboot the server, but that is really nothing more than a stab in the dark. I saw someone else in an online posting claim that a reboot fixed the problem, but I've only seen that once.

    checked this SAP Note?
1204013 - Error: "The Page Server is unable to create a child process" when viewing a Crystal report in InfoView on Solaris
    Symptom
When trying to view a Crystal report in BusinessObjects XI Release 2 InfoView on Solaris, the following error message appears:
"The Page Server is unable to create a child process"
In the syslogs, you see the following error messages:
"An error occurred while creating a Page Server subprocess."
"The function PEOpenEngineEx failed. Reason: Report engine not opened."
    "Internal error for dll procreport."
    "Unable to load dll procreport."
    "Internal Job Server error."
    Cause
The following file in the MainWin registry has become corrupt:
    bobje/enterprise115/solaris_sparc/crpe/mw/registry/core_data/servername/.mw/hklm_sunos.bin
This has become corrupt due to the web application server running under a different account than the BusinessObjects Enterprise applications.
    Resolution
Restore the hklm_sunos.bin file using a backup of that file. The backup file must be from before the corruption occurred. Also ensure that your web application server and BusinessObjects Applications are running under the same user account.

It's possible that your provider has made a change.
I think STARTTLS usually is used with port 587, instead of the standard SSL port 465.
Could you look up your provider's current SMTP settings to see whether your "Outgoing Server" settings need to be updated? If it's difficult to translate between your provider's help page and Thunderbird's dialog controls, you could provide a link to your provider's help page.

  • Error on timesheet submission "An error occurred while communicating with the server.

Hello, we have many users who are encountering errors submitting timesheets following our migration to Project Server 2013 (SP1 April 2014 CU). The error is:
An error occurred while communicating with the server. Check connectivity with your administrator to determine whether further action is necessary.
This follows the specific timesheet, if I open a delegate session on my machine, I can reproduce the error. However, simply deleting and recreating the timesheet has resolved it for many users, at least until the next timesheet submission.
Has anyone seen this sort of widespread behavior and have a solution beyond deleting and recreating the given timesheet?
    Thanks!

    Hello Joncantrell
I just ran into issue and found a way to resolve, though it may not be the best.  I think it is a bug, but here is how I fixed it.
    1) Delegating as the user
    2) Deleted the timesheet
    3)  Going line by line, I check each task that had a status of "Not Submitted" and "Send Progress for Select Task".
    4) The error came up only for one task.
    5) Open that schedule, remove resource from task, saved and published.
    6) Deleted and recreated timesheet
    7) Submitted timesheet and processed normally.
    I hope this helps

    (No such object)
The server could not locate the entry. If adding a new entry, be sure that the parent of the entry you are trying to add exists. If you received this error while searching or viewing an entry, it indicates that the entry which was being searched for does not exist.

I did the silly thing, i gave Base DN as o=domainname.com,which is supposed to give like dc=domainname, dc=com and restarted the server. LDAP works fine.

Similar error (not SQL Express but Enterprise) on my network reveals the following issue (still prevalent after removing and re-adding the machine to the network):
The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/machinename.domainname.local. The target name used was cifs/MACHINENAME. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in the target realm (DOMAINNAME.LOCAL), and the client realm. Please contact your system administrator.
ALSO: The session setup from the computer MACHINENAME failed to authenticate. The name(s) of the account(s) referenced in the security database is MACHINENAME$. The following error occurred: Access is denied.

    Hi,
I am trying to use the file adapter to pick the file from FTP server however file adapter raised the following error:
Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server \"64.72.230.42:21\": java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect
I changed the timeout of the communication channel to 1200 but still getting this error after a minute.
The ftp server is working fine with my ftp client.
Could you please help me to fix this issue ?

    I got the following message
"Processing finished successfully" when the ftp folder did not have the required file.
Do you mean, the connection is ok when there is no file in the source directory.
    Yes.
However as soon as i put the file start getting the same error message.
This could be then an authorization issue. Check if your source dir & file are having proper authorizations. Check with your BASIS guy.
I set the source directory to a folder name which does not exit on ftp server. now i am getting "The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 /user038888888888888888/input: The system cannot find the path specified:"
So, do you think it is a problem of authorizations ? and if it is then how can i change it ? should i have to change the permissions of the folder on ftp server?
Thanks for your support. I really appreciate your help. I almost spend a whole day trying to fix this issue.

  • An error occurred while configuring your server

The following actions failed or were not attempted:
    Configuring network
    Starting push notification server.
DNS is killing me. I am an accountant.
I have a new out of the box mac mini server.
I want clients (real people with pcs and macs) to have external internet access to wiki, email and other nice services.
I do not want to serve DNS to the world; I just want to get past the installation configuration with a suitable DNS.
I am not at all clear whether I want Open Directory and from that whether I need DNS at all.
When this machine is set up it will be accessed only from outside on the public internet, including for admin matters by me; no "internal/local" users at all.
I do have a choice of domain names. I was trying papakilo.net and server as the machine name.
I can go in to change the papakilo.net domain records - though whether I can set up a reverse dns I am not clear.
I will buy a time machine if that is what it takes to have the firewall security managed by the server itself; I am assuming this would remove a level of expertise I do not want to acquire more than already.
I have spent many hours on here and in google, reading, watching videos etc looking for the answer to what to enter into "Primary DNS name"?
Where I am working right now has a dynamic IP but it doesn't change often and is fine for testing because I can keep checking what it is.
The final location will have (does have) a fixed ip address.
I bought Max Server many years ago, perhaps version one or two or whatever and had the same experience: within minutes I was unable to use the system.
So. The adverts said this was now easy. (I never learn).
If I knew what to type in to the DNS boxes and what to change on papakilo's domain DNS would I be further along?
I was looking forward to the joys of VPN set up and the like, not this.
Somewhat disappointedly as I had high hopes only to find extensive DNS reading is required to know what to type into the very first dialogue box.
Wonder if I should set up the canonical server.papakilo.net in the internet based DNS record so that the install routine can find it... is that the first problem?
And is the second problem to point the external i.p address back to the dynamic one in use at this location?
And will that facilitate the reverse lookup?
And will I have to wait for the propagation time to find out if this works -
or can I use actual i.p. addresses while I wait?
Some sympathetic help would be much appreciated please, and I promise I won't tell everyone how simple tax is.
    Best wishes,
    Anthony

where he says this: (I have edited in my own data to replace previous content)
    So:
< External DNS server of your ISP >
    ------------Time Capsule--------------
< Local DNS server running on your Mac Mini >
I think the above is truly brilliant for its clarity of presentation. It is simple, but attempt writing that description in words and see how the caveats make it look complex.
snip/snip/ I haven't done the time capsule stuff yet. Clearly I need DNS set up and here below is the clearest description I have found:
Then the next step is to setup the DNS Service in Server Admin.
    First the Settings tab:
"Accept recursive queries" basically is a whitelist of which computers are allowed to use the DNS server. In a local DNS server, 'localnets' is okay. Localnets allows all IP adresses in the same range as the IP adress of the DNS server to access it.
Actually all that was already entered by default, so ok was all I needed click.
"Forwarder IP Adresses" are the IP addresses of the DNS servers that should be used if the requested URL-name (hostname/domainname/etc) is NOT in the list of the DNS server.
(So if the DNS server gets a request for "www.google.com", and the zone "google.com" isnt in its Zone list, the request gets forwarded to those Forwarder DNS servers.)
Again sheer simplicity or presentation in words I understand (and not Dutch this is where I understand that I can use my isp's DNS numbers from standard Network setup in system prefs, so this is the link between internal DNS and external DNS - I just could not see it before. "Forwarder" means "my isp's DNS numbers".
The last thing is the Zones.
I understand that you're setting up your own webserver. With subdomains.
Primary Zone Name should be: papakilo.net.
    Nameserver Zone should be: papakilo.net.
    Nameserver Hostname should be: news.papakilo.net

Clearly I have populated the quotation with my own data to see if I can and for later reference.
So with my broken system I have no Open Directory so when I click Groups it says I have to set up Open Directory first and now with the above entered I do that and create some users.
The only thing remaining seems to me external access as I can access using local ip addresses.

    Hi,
While doing a fresh install of Windows server 2012 R2 on a machine I am getting error as
"Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed."
I have even tried to delete all the partitions and then tried to do the installation but similar error pop up after complete installation.
Even I tried to run bootrec with /fixmbr /fixboot but still no resort.
Any thoughts how to fix the issue.
    Thanks in advance.
