  • Windows Vista install disk for my Mac?

I have just installed Windows vista onto my Mac but when using boot camp it only gives me the option of creating a Windows 7 install disk.  Does anybody know where I can get a Windows Vista install disk?  Thanks

No doubt if you Google for it you will find vendors. Check with amazon.com, too.

  • Missing BOOTMGR Windows Vista No Disk

    Hello,
I need some help.  After doing a "Factory Recovery," my laptop won't boot to windows vista.  After booting, it won't finish the "Factory Recovery" process, and it ends with a black screen with the words "Missing BOOT MGR Crtl+Alt+Esc."
The laptop(G60-125NR) didn't come with anything.  I HAVE NO DISK OF WINDOWS VISTA.  It was only already installed in the laptop.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Here are the details.
I tried pressing F11 or F10 - the factory recovery screen - and used both the hard drive partition and then the recovery disks I created before the factory recovery-thing.  Hard drive ended with error 1005 and using the disk I got error 1002.  Both telling me to contact HP.
Purchased a Boot Disk and it got me to System Recovery Options.  There, I could not select on any operating system.  I don't even know which Drives to add.  Plus, as I was trying to see in the folderfs, nothing was comming up. So I just clicked on Next and tried the Startup Repair option.  After a while it said that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically.  It still says MissingBootManager on the details.
At the Windows Boot Manager screen,
    Windows Setup [EMS Enabled]
    But on the tools;
    File \boot\memtest.exe
    Status: oxcoooooof
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupted.
I hope you can help me.  Thank you.

  • Windows Vista reinstallation disks for my 7387 A11 whose hard drive died

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.  Just over three years ago I bought a Lenovo 3000 J Series, model 7387 A11.  Last weekend my hard drive began failing to the point that it wouldn't let the machine boot.  So I bought a new PC and hooked up the failing hard drive to it as a secondary drive.  With much coaxing and rebooting I managed to copy all the files on the main partition of the failing hard drive to my new PC's primary hard drive.  Yea!
But now I've bought a new hard drive to replace the failed one in Lenovo machine, and am stuck at the stage of getting the machine to recognize the new hard drive, since it has no operating system.
I read on one of these threads that one option would be to call Lenovo and ask for reinstallation disks for the Windows Vista operating system.  So I called the phone number, but the message there says that since I'm out of warranty I should try to get help on the Lenovo website.  So here I am.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Erik-Chicago

After the reinstallation, it shows these 2 hard drives separately..
As the spec above shows, that model has a single physical hard drive. What you are seeing are partitions in that drive. This Toshiba article explains what they are for.
1.46GB partition and other small partition are for the System Recovery Options and the factory softw...
I tried to use the Windows Disk Management menu (in he control panel) to combine them, but that failed. I then tried again using the command line Diskpart command, but it gave an error that it couldn't merge partitions from separate disks. So is there any way to combine them back into one volume..?
Best to leave those partitions alone to function as designed.

  • Long Windows Vista Boot Time

Just installed Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 via Boot Camp, all went well with the installation but whenever I boot into Windows it sits at a screen with a black background and a blinking white line at the top left corner. It lasts about a minute and then boots into Windows. Anyone know why it does this?

Blame it on EFI and having to load emulated BIOS and pretend it is on Master Boot Record drive.
I wanted to see what a PC boot process was like, and it varied by motherboard and BIOS (and even what chipset drivers, how many addresses for disk drives and attached devices).
For me the only fix - wish I hadn't applied the one EFI firmware, all it did was add 30 seconds to Windows (improves compatibility for booting Windows on Macs was all it said) was to assemble a comparable PC hardware. About 45 seconds though. Still slower than booting OS X is.

  • I need a Windows XP Boot Disk CD

    Hello,
I have a Satellite L35-S2151 Laptop and it will not load windows all the way as I get a blue screen "Unmountable Boot Volume".  I looked up the error message on Microsoft's website and I need to have a Windows XP CD to start up my machine.  My computer did not come with a Windows CD when I purchased it from Best Buy.  How can I order a Windows XP Reboot CD with Toshiba? I do not want to restore my computer to factory settings, I just want a reboot CD. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Noa

Unfortunately, you can't order a Win xp boot disk CD from Toshiba.  I had the same problem you have, unmountable boot volume, had no boot disc (thought the Toshiba recovery disc was a boot disc, but nooooo, it would reformat and erase all my files).  I was advised to burn a CD boot disc from various online download areas, but didn't have a working computer to do it on, nor could I borrow anybody's so I was stuck.  Microsoft only has floppies (6) that you can download for Win XP, but how many of us have floppy drives anymore? not me.  It sucks that Microsoft doesn't keep boot discs around for sale for WinXP users, it's not like WinXP is some ancient OS geez.  But unless you can burn your own boot CD (which isn't as easy as some people lead you to believe , I think sometimes it just doesn't work or is glitchy).  I tried everything to get my system to boot, including buying a Knoppix LIVE CD which I ordered online for $3.99 from a software place.  It didn't work either, but you could always try it for a cheap fix if it works for you.
I ended taking  out my old hard drive after trying various things with no success, buying a new hard drive , buying a hard drive enclosure to put the old drive in so I could transfer the files I want to save over to the new drive. I'm stuck at that point so far.   I hope you don't have to go all through that.  But I was basically told the best hope is to somehow burn or have someone burn for you a Win XP boot disc CD.  I presume by "disc" you mean CD and not floppy.  If you are looking for floppy boot discs as I said, you can download them onto 6 discs from Microsoft.  Good luck!

  • Can't boot windows - select boot disk and computer goes to sleep

    I've got a Mac Pro 3,1
I've had windows 7 installed on an IDE hard drive in the CD bay.
Lately, I was getting BSODs, so I decided to reinstall - I reformatted the hard drive and I'm trying to move forward.
I haven't been able to boot any kind of windows installation disk!  USB, DVD, anything!
I select the boot disk on boot up (hold option, select the windows install) and the computer seems to boot (shows the bootcamp logo) then just goes black (like it's sleeping - monitors off, not an 'active black' screen)  There is no hard drive noise - this thing is basically off.
I've tried using rEFIt, using different USB drives, DVDs, everything.  I can get into rEFIt, select the boot disk - and it's the same problem.  Windows won't boot!
What gives?  I've had no luck looking online for this issue.  Some folks have a 'black screen' with an iMac - but this isn't a driver issue - the computer is not booting!

never mind, I changed the connection to a different usb port and problem solved. Thanks anyway.

  • Windows 7 boot disk isn't installing

I have a Pavilion Dv6t-7000 Quad entertainment notebook and recently it stopped working. When started up it would goto raid volume then goto no boot device found , press f2 for systems diagnostics. I ran the HDD extensive process one time and it said it would take 10 mins but when I took the hard drive out and reconnected it and did the test over the time changed to 2 hours and 44mins and it passed. So I bought a windows boot disk and tried to do the reboot but it wouldn't work and I keep getting random errors

Have you followed the troubleshooting procedures on the document at the following link?
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01443463&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc...
Try the method described in the following web document. It may be just a corrupt BCD store.

What kind of random errors are you getting? Can you provide specific examples?

  • Windows Vista/ Boot Camp and Apple wireless keyboard/mouse

Could someone please outline the steps needed to make the apple wireless mouse and keyboard work with Windows Vista on the Mac. It was working fine before I installed the Mac drivers, but now nothing. Whats worse is my computer boots to windows automatically now so I can't use it at present!
    All help very gratefully received.
    Many thanks

You cannot use a keyboard or any other peripheral with the tv, I'm afraid. Think of it more like a giant ipod than a little mini in that respect.

  • Windows Vista Boot Camp - No Audio (sound)

    Hi Guys,
I just got my father's Macbook Pro he bought last year for christmas, and I was already excited how I could actually have both Mac and Windows on one laptop (as I need Windows for making music in Fl Studio). Now the problem is, that there is no Sound coming out of the MBP when in Windows, and there is the infamous red light coming out of the Headphones Jack. I'll explain everything I did in steps so that you get the idea. So first of all, I started with the Bootcamp Partition and Installation. Since I lost my Mac OS X (or tbh my father lost it   ) I was happy to see that I could actually download the 'support software a.k.a. Drivers' directly before the installation. Well, guess what, It didn't work because the 'support software was not available'. Anyways, I proceeded with the Installation as if I had the CD and Drivers ready. Everything went fine, after booting to Windows I installed Bootcamp and the drivers (Since I found someone posting the .Iso file of the contents of the MAC OS X CD I lost, so I downloaded it.), I was excited to see that every button on the keyboard worked and also the trackpad worked almost flawlessly. Now after the Installation, I did some Windows updates, and then I wanted to listen to some Music, and suddenly I realized that my Sound isn't working! And the Jack started to Glow Red.
So I went online, in search of the problem. I found various 'fixes' for the problem, such as installing a Cirrus Driver (well that didn't work, as it said that my windows is in Slovak and that's not a supported language... what the ****?), then I tried to install Realtek Drivers - didn't do anything (although I didn't uninstall the old ones, because I wasn't sure how exactly to do that.)... Well I think it might be helpful if I'll just summarize what 'fixes' I tried:
Update to Boot Camp 3.1 - Didn't work
Update to Service Pack 1 or later. - Updating to Service Pack 1 and then 2 got rid of the red light, when there is no sound output, as soon as I try to play something it's back on, glowing like a Christmas Tree
Try to wiggle a toothpick in the headphone jack - amazing fix, isn't it? Well I actually found out that It worked for some people, and since I'm desperate, I tried it... As expected, it didn't work.
Install Realtek Drivers - as mentioned above, didn't work...
Install Cirrus Drivers - Slovak Language not 'supported'... right.
Update Boot Camp to latest update - Didn't Work...
Install a 32 Bit Version of Windows -  I didn't mention this, I had first a 64 bit version of Windows 7 Installed, and the sound didn't work as well. As there was some problem with the Boot Camp installation, I tried to reinstall to 32 Bit, But used Windows Vista instead, because I heard Windows 7 Is 'not yet  supported' or something..
Make sure the Speakers are 'preset' as a default device in the Sounds Control Panel -  It Already was preset -.-
'Rage Plug' the computer and hope for the best...? Yeah.
Can anyone finally tell me how to fix this, I am desperate, tired, angry and all the other negative emotions you can imagine right no, because I spent hours on this, looking up millions of forums, in which there was no answer for me!!
    Please.
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You have to download the drivers. To download them, press X key while your Mac is starting to start into Mac OS X, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps to download them. You will have to burn them onto a DVD or USB drive, so you will be able to install the drivers on Windows. Then, it should work fine.
If you can't download them in Boot Camp Assistant, download the drivers from this website > http://www.cafe-encounter.net/p682/download-bootcamp-drivers The links are from Apple and that's safe to download and install

  • Windows VISTA Boot Camp?

Would it be possible to run MS Windows VIsta with Boot Camp? or we will be only able to Install XP SP2. Thanks!

Not sure if Boot Camp works yet, but those enterprising coders narfa and blink over at OSx86 Project have got Vista Working with their XOM (XP On Mac) solution (http://www.tuaw.com/2006/04/12/boot-camp-can-run-vista-too/)
Shouldn't therefore be too hard to make it work with Boot Camp.

  • Windows Vista No Disk Error

    Greetings,
I have installed Oracle 10g Enterprise undee Windows Vista Home Edition using oracle proper installer for this OS. The installation went pretty well and so was the aftermath when I created a database and several schemas. A few days ago I have started getting a very strange and persistent error everytime Oracle's TNS and Listener are referred. The error comes fro Windows and states "Exception Processing Message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x764F92A0 0x00000004 0x764F292A0 0x764F292A0" and the options I am prompted for are Cancell, Try Again and Continue. Whatever option I go to has to be hit over and over for about 7 times so that the message stops popping and I can continue. I say this error is reated to ORacle's TNS and Listener because when I try sqlplus /nolog I get no error, but if I enter the full connection string like slplus user/password@dbsid I get the error. The same error comes on TOAD when I first open it and it reads the TNSNAMES file to bring the TNS's within the file.
Past this error by cancellin, trying again and again or continuing, all DB functionalities are just fine, no alerts, nor critical errors... Pretty weird hmm? Does anyone have any suggestion on what the issue is and what can be done to fix it?
Appreciate all your inputs on this matter.

  • Windows Vista recovery disk

I want to order a recovery disk for my laptop, however when i give them the computer's serial number and part number they tell me to select which disk i would like to purchase but the only option they give me is one with 64bit however my computer is running vista 32bit would i still be able to restore my computer or do i need the 32bit? If so what can i do to order it because this is my only option: SW Media - DVD-Satellite-L300-Win Vista 64bit Home Premium-EN as you can see it has 64bit.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
This is my serial number: 89577426Q
    And Part number: PSLB8U-14F025

    Hi Chicharito,
I've forwarded the problem info to the people who manage the recovery media database so that it can be corrected.  Meanwhile, if you send me a Private Message with your daytime phone number I will also send that to Customer Service and request that they contact you.
In case you weren't aware of this option, if your laptop is currently operating normally you should be able to restore the original hard disk image by first shutting down Windows and then holding down the zero ('0') key while the system boots up.  You should also be able to run the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator program to burn your own set of recovery media onto blank discs.
Of course, you should also be able to order the correct recovery media so do send me a Private Message with the requested info if you'd like to continue down that path.  To access Private Messages, click on the small envelope icon in the upper right area of this and most forum pages. From there, click the 'Compose New Message' tab and enter "jim" in the 'Send To' field.
