Windows won't detect wi-fi; using Bootcamp?

Installed Windows 8.1, using Bootcamp. Cannot get Windows to connect ti internet through wi-fi or direct connection using lightening. Any ideas about how to get Windows to recognize my Mac Book Air (mid-2013) hardware would be appreciated.

If you have Auto-run enabled (not always a good idea though) it will still open to
/BootCamp folder with Apple Setup.exe to install the drivers and services to add compatibility.
I think Windows Update, esp. now with v. 7 RC1, it finds even 3rd party drivers for me and less trouble, something OS X doesn't provide.
But the step for inserting your DVD.... that is in the Boot Camp Guide and pdf.

  • Windows won't install any drivers using BootCamp

I'm new to using a Mac (I bought an aluminum 2.0GHz MacBook last month). I need to run Windows on it, and tested in using BootCamp, but I cannot get the Windows XP drivers to work at all. No drivers have been installed for networking, chipset, sound, video, etc.) The device manager shows almost no drivers installed. It is Windows XP SP3 as well. I have also tested this on two other Macs, with the same results. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any replies received.

  • Has anyone figured a way to use the Magic Trackpad with Windows 7 on a partitioned disc using Bootcamp?

Has anyone figured a way to use the magic trackpad with Windows 7 on a partitioned disc using Bootcamp?

Yes. After Windows/Bootcamp discovers  your bluetooth device (Magic Trackpad or Mouse, be sure to make it discoverable), right click, with your wired mouse, of course, on the icon and select Properties.
Then check the mouse drivers box and your device should work. (I located this solution on another thread)
It works for both the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.
Must admit, the solution was not intuitive within the Windows environment. But we all must remember. It IS Windows, after all.
Another thing. Keep in mind that the gestures on these devices that work just dandy in OSX do not carry over into Windows.
    It's Windows.

  • MacBook suddenly won't detect my display, Using Mini Display Port to VGA?

MacBook suddenly won't detect my display, Using Mini Display Port to VGA?

dohdoh1985, I have the exact same problem also! I recently bought a 42" RCA LCD TV. I connected my MacBook Pro to my TV using a Dynex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that I got from BestBuy. It worked great until I upgraded to Mac OS 10.6.4 and then it suddenly stopped working. Same TV, same settings, same cables, same adapter. Nothing changed since the last time it worked except that my OS was upgraded to 10.6.4, so i am assuming that is the culprit. The symptoms are EXACTLY the same as what dohdoh1985 described; when I plug in the TV, the laptop display flashes (3 times) as though it is detecting an external display and the picture on the TV briefly goes from blue to black for about 1 second then back to blue. The TV does not appear in the display menu / control panel and there is no sign that the MacBook detected it. I went through the usual troubleshooting steps (reset PRAM, checked connections, tv settings, etc) but nothing worked. Other HDMI sources (i.e. Blu-ray player) work fine on the TV using the same HDMI cable on the same port so there is nothing wrong with the cable, the TV or the TV's input settings.
Meanwhile, I can still connect my MacBook to my external ViewSonic monitor at work without any problems. It's just the TV that's not working.
I cancelled my cable subscription a while ago since I only watch shows online nowadays and this was my only way of watching TV shows, so I'm quite upset.
    Apple, please help!

  • Possible to run Windows on USB 3.0 drive using Bootcamp?

    Hi guys,
I am planning to buy the entry Mac Pro soon.
I am pretty used to OSX and love to work with it but want to play a game sometimes, and thats where I need windows.
I dont want to fill my Macs SSD with different partitions and stuff, so I planned to get a 128GB usb-stick/external-drive with fast read/write performance (min 70mb/s write, 120mb/s read). The performance should easy be on par with a classic HDD. I can also format the drive to use every filesystem I want it to use.
Is it possible to install Windows8 on such a usb-drive using BootCamp? Does it accept the external usb drive to install a partition on and boot from it?
I found very different opinions to this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Kev

    Okay,
I did some more research on my own.
It is possible according to this posts: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5127978 (Strange: you responded to that posting yourself).
All you need is a external thunderbold drive and a copy of Winclone. (https://twocanoes.com/winclone/)
Then follow this 7 steps and you are fine: http://dadhacks.dadpower.net/post/47998058347/set-up-bootcamp-on-an-external-thu nderbolt-drive

  • Question about transfering files between windows OS and mac OS when using bootcamp

I'm thinking about buying the latest macbook pro, however, many of the statistical programs I use are only compatible with windows OS.  I am aware of fusion and parallels, but I was advised to use bootcamp to maximize the performance of both the statistical programs AND the macbook itself.  When using bootcamp, if I were to create a word document for my statistical output in the windows 7 partition, would I be able to access it directly from the hard drive in the mac OS partition using windows for mac?  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I run both Windows and OS X on my Mac. I would never ever want the Windows partition to have write access to my OS X partition. Be cautious when considering this ability. I would much prefer sharing files by a third drive, be it a flash drive, and external HDD, NAS, or an SD card.

  • How do I get Windows 8 on a usb to use Bootcamp on my MBA?

Just wondering because I am thinking about getting Windows 8 for my MBA. I figured if I had a MBP I could just put a Windows 8 disc in and go from there but I cant do that with a MBA. So it might sound like a stupid question, but if any one can help that would be greatly appreciated.
    -Thanks

  • New macbook pro 15" won't detect external display using vga adapter

    Hi there
I've tried multiple monitors and connectors but i can't get my mac to detect an external display. it responds as if nothing is connected. I'm fully up to date software-wise.
    any ideas?
    thanks for any help!!

Hi, I'm having the same problem, tried to connect both a Viewsonic and a Hanspree. Was happy to find your response here, but I just got the Moshi adapter with the macbook pro so it seems silly it would have gone bad. :/
I suppose I'll take it into the Apple Store and see what they say. Thanks!

  • Trying to install windows on Mac using bootcamp, but windows won't install?

I've been working tirelessly on installing a burned to disk windows 7 on my MacBook Pro using bootcamp. Everything worked fine, I booted up windows but the problem was that it wouldn't install at all and just told me that the disk may be corrupted or missing? I noticed the disk was scratched so I reburned it to another disk. When I went to restart the Mac to boot up windows and try the installation again, a message came up saying: "NTFS - 3G could not mount /dev/disk0s4 at /volumes/untitled because the following problem occurred: dyld: library not loaded/ usr /local/libfuse.2dylib referenced from: /usr/local/bin/ntfs-3g reason: image not found." Could this be saying something about the disk? Is there an easy way to just install the **** thing?? In really tired with this, thank you do much for any help.

  • Unable to install Windows 8.1 on Macbook using BootCamp Assistant

Hi, I own a Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2012 model.
I am trying to install Windows 8.1 on my Macbook using BootCamp Assistant, but i always get this error :
"No Bootable device detected, Insert Boot disk and press any key".
I've tried pressing the option key during boot to startup the boot manager and this is what i get :
I notice that the Windows boot disk doesn't show EFI Boot like it is supposed to when installing windows on a Mac.
I know this because I once had successfully installed Win 8.1 using BootCamp before on my MacBook.
However I'm not sure what the problem is this time.

On pre-2013 Macs, EFI installation does not work or partially succeeds, because these models are preUEFI models. The Late 2013+ models will support EFI boot correctly, without any driver issues. Your specific model supports installing from a DVD+USB or USB (I have the same 13" 2012 MBP).
You need to ensure that the USB device used is a USB2  and not a USB3 device. Please verify the integrity of the Windows ISO file (if used) using Microsoft FCIV tool. The same applies to the DVD. Do not connect any other external storage to your MBP. Do not use Alt/Option key to interrupt the BCA-initiated installation.
Using Alt/Option works when installing EFI-based on Windows, but you can directly boot into EFI installer from System Preferences -> Startup Disk -> EFI Boot Media.

  • HT4407 Hey, I am unable to install windows 7 using 'bootcamp 5.0' . I have already partitioned the drive as (mac Os Extended Journaled) and yet it seems bootcamp won't acknowledge this?

Hey, I am unable to install windows 7 using 'bootcamp 5.0' . I have already partitioned the drive as (mac Os Extended Journaled) and yet it seems bootcamp won't acknowledge this?
My first thoughts were that 'bootcamp' was out of date...needed an upgrade to register windows 7. Since then I am once again met with the same problem... how can it not see the I have already have a paritioned drived ready to be used for installition, is there a way to fix this problem? I don't really want to pay out for 'i-parition' only to merge my 2 drives back into one and start again from scratch =/. Seems silly to do so...what are my options?
Regards Swishi...p.s If anyone can help me...it'll make my day :3.

    ONE PARTITION.
You don't need to buy anything but you should have backups.
you can delete #2 you created. Then resize to full drive.
    There are already
    GPT
    EFI
    Mac
    Recovery
and there needs to be Windows which cannot be higher ID
