Windows won't minimize

OS X 10.6.3
I just upgraded to OS X 10.6.3 (yeah, I know it's old school now, but that's what my job issued) and CS5. Now my windows will not minimize in Photoshop when I double-click on the title bar (very annoying). What's the deal? InDesign and Illustrator work just fine -- it just seems to be an issue with Photoshop.

I just tried it with CS5 and OS X 10.6.4 and it works fine.
It might be something else on your system rather than being an OS version issue, but you could try updating to 10.6.4 or 10.6.8. (Apple menu - Software Update)

Doc window freezes in ID CS4; won't minimize

Using Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a 24" Intel iMac.
I recently upgraded to ID CS4. While I've noticed a few glitches already, my biggest peeves are 1) the document window won't minimize when you click the yellow button in the bar, and 2) the document window sometimes freezes. The only way to resolve the issue is to click outside the window on the desktop, which usually brings the window back to normal. A quick workaround, but very annoying that the functionality of new software is buggy.
I first noticed this when I downloaded a trial version of ID CS4. I purchased the software package for CS4 Standard Upgrade. Before installing, I uninstalled ID CS4 download version and installed it fresh from DVD. The problems persist.I have also verified and repaired permissions with the Disk Utility in case that was causing the problem, but still no go. Any suggestions?

If you haven't already, download the 6.0.4 update. That probably won't fix a video issue, but there are other bugs to squash.
As far as the window problem, if you were a Windows user I'd tell you to update your video drivers, and perhaps look for third-party software that was causing a conflict. If theis were a bug iin ID it would be widely reported, which it is not.

Help! Mail freeze: window won't open, nor will it close so I can restart

I've just had a strange problem with Mail. The window won't open - or has issues with opening (it did, but only briefly). It's generally having problems - its menus aren't dropping down - and I would like to quit and restart the computer (a Mac Mini). I've tried an apple q and nothing is happening. So the computer won't restart unless I force a shut down by manually holding down the button.
Any suggestions most welcome…

On my MacBook Pro, trashing files and folders requires that I input my password. How do I fix it so that I don't have to do that every time? Also, finder windows won't reopen in same place and configuration that I left them in when I closed them. How do I fix this?

My guess is that you are storing your files on the root level of your HD. If so, move the files in to your user folder and you shouldn't get password prompts.
Once you close a finder window you cannot continue that session. You can set the default location that a finder window opens however. Click on the finder, from the menubar select FInder/Preferences then click on the "General" tab. Where it says "New Finder windows open", you can select any folder on your drive as the default. My sggestion would be to set it to your User folder where you should be storing your files.

Adobe camera raw window won't resize and can't reach buttons

When I open an image from bridge into adobe camera raw 6.1 (Photoshop CS5) on my laptop, the camera raw window fills all of the screen (top to bottom) and the buttons at the bottom of the window are below the task bar. Thus I can't open the image in photoshop except by hitting the enter key. I can't reach the open, etc buttons. The window won't resize and there are no icon/buttons in the right upper corner to go to/from full screen. When I hit the icon in the top right hand menu bar in ACR (to go to full screen size) the window then fills the whole width of the screen in addition to the height, but no matter what I do I can't get the height of the window to shrink, so that I can access the icons at the bottom of the screen. What am I missing? Thanks

Don't worry about turning aero off just yet.
There are two key first questions:
What is your screen resolution (width in pixels x height in pixels)? Right-click on desktop, choose Screen Resolution.
What setting have you chosen for the display size (Smaller, Medium, Larger) in the Display dialog? Right-click on desktop, choose Personalize, then Display.

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

Java has been updated as well as firefox but java refuses to run - drop down menus won't work (ebay) and pogo game windows won't load.....HELP

Ever since I updated firefox to 3.5.16 java ahs stopped working. Drop down menu's in ebay don't, windows from links (such as tracking in ebay) don't work, pogo game windows won't load or will load the widow frame but not the game itself. I work online and run and online business and this wastes a lot of my time. Idon't want to use IE but might have to - I have looked in the forums and online and can't find a solution. Your help would be greatly appreciate it.

Some windows won't display?

For some reason, some of my windows in dreamweaver will not display correctly, or much at all. For instance, when you first open dreamweaver and select "new dreamweaver site" all I get is a window that displays a few text fields and then whatever is behind that window (almost like the entire window is transparent, except when I move the window, it doesn't change to match what is behind it) My system exceeds the dreamweaver minimum requirements.
I operate on windows xp
I am running the trial version.

I have, Thank you. I kinda sorta fixed the problem, I discovered that when I move the window off of the screen, it appears correctly, annoying but I dont know what else to do.

My genius friend decided to plug my iPod into his xbox 360, and now windows won't recognize my iPod Nano, and it won't turn on, and I don't know what to do.

Try reading my post "Is your IPOD very slow to connect and eject and it appears to lock-up?". I think it is on page 2 of this discussion forum now.
This worked for me and I've had emails from other people saying that this fixed their problem.

WINDOWS WON'T RECOG. SOLUTION HERE!!!!

I had tried everything short of a complete wipe of my computer's O/S.
Ipod Clicking: drop it or slap it a few times...
Windows won't recognise: I did two things which may have fixed it, one close antiVir, the other was to insert the original disk that came with my ipod.
I'm thinking that the Ipod's base operating software was corrupt or some ****.

Insert orig cd, let software run, if it doesn't run auto like mine, open it and install... Goes though installation, at some point you asked to format the ipod, mount it, then it will wipe everything!! But that's a start at least you can do something!! right!
Installation didn't complete as newer itunes detected.
Restart
Select language, mount ipod, itunes launches auto like it should. Register. There's your ipod in the left column!!!

I pressed Windows-M to minimize all screens, then Firefox 6.0.1 (Win XP VM) started to open large number ( 70 in a few seconds) of new Firefox windows (stopped only when I killed the Firefox process with Task Manager). Firefox had no focus at that time.

Windows XP 64-bits Virtual Machine, ServicePack 2, 4MB of RAM, dual processor running on a Windows 7 64-bits host machine, ServicePack 1, 8MB, 8-core processor.
I have worked with that for half a year, no particular issues.
I was working in other program in my VM (so Firefox had no focus) , then wanted to view my VM desktop, so I pressed Windows-M to minimize all windows in my VM. Exactly at that time Firefox 6.0 started to issue new empty Firefox windows, at a pace of about 4 or 5 per second. So I killed the firefox.exe process in my TaskManager to prevent my machine of running out of memory. Then I started Firefox again, without further issues so far.

I'm a Chrome user by choice. I use Firefox for two reasons only:
1) Speedbit video downloader
2) A second browser to handle secondary Google and Facebook sign-ins.
If I remove Speedbit, I lose 50% of my reason to use your browser at all.
Speedbit and Firefox worked together just fine before version 19.
PLEASE PROVIDE A PATCH. DON'T BLAME SPEEDBIT.

After some system admin (on Solaris 2.7) my Swing GUI application won't terminate and the main window won't
close. My code in my main window is:

I have to do 'ps' and 'kill -9 <pid>'. The same behavior occurs w/ the Swing Java tutorial apps; e.g.,
I only added a System.out.println("Window closing event captured") in the ListDemo.java src. WHen I close the
main window, I see this string displayed but the window
doesn't close (or it starts to, goes blank) and the app
doesn't exit.
I'm fairly certain it's an environmental problem, but
am stuck as to what to investigate. If anyone has
seen this behavior and could shed some light, I'd be
appreciative...

I tried doing this: In the tutorial's ListDemo.java src, I replaced the entire WindowAdapter() code block with one line:
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(frame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
This didn't help (w/ either JDK 1.4.0 or JDK 1.4.1, on
Solaris). The app still doesn't terminate. The xterm from which I launched the app isn't responding to control-C. I have to kill the xterm. Also, if I can't write a WindowAdapter, how can I do some other stuff
(like closing network connections, etc.) before exiting?
