Windows XP on my nLenovo 300 N 500

I purchased the notebook from one of the dealers of lenovo in Burlington Canada, Wintronics Computers at the end of March 2009. The option with the notebook was XP pro upgradeable to Vista business. I took XP which is what they told me notebook comes with. Anyways, they never gave me any drivers CD, any key for the Windows product, any CD or DVD for the windows.
In a  month note book not being used much the windows got corrupted and I took it to them on which they put it on me saying I must have installed something which may have damaged the XP. Just a background info. I have been using Compaq EvoN620C notebook for almost 6 years now without a single breakdown in windows and I myself is  systems Engineer. I took responsibility and they reinstalled the windows XP for me and took a price for it. Not even a month passed and again not used the way I have been using my Compaq notebook, day before yesterday, some windows files got corrupted again and on start up I am getting Windows/system32/hal.ddl file corrupt, please reinstall. I tried whatever options I can and it is not going any further than this error. I read XP site for the error and one of the suggestion is if nothing works, that means u have some bad sectors on the hard drive and boot.ini record may have been corrupted. I am now thinking that may be the had drive itself is not good or the XP version they installed is not the good original copy of it.
I am a very dissatisfied customer after purchasing my first lenovo from a dealer of Lenovo, as mentioned earlier. Please some one let me know how I can fix this issue since my note book is still under warranty till Feb. 2010.
I will appreciate some help. I have put in too many hours fixing and reinstalling my softwares on this notebook, that I never even used the notebook for any work. I took the whole back up last saturday using Norton Ghost and that seems to also not loading up from the DVD may be it is not a bootable CD backup)...
Let me know, what am I missing and what I should have gotten from the dealer when I bought this notebook, or I will just repair the windows installation every month from them for a price.

First off all, when I bought my notebook (3000 N500), there was only recovery dvd's for windows xp prof. delivered.
You can call at Lenovo/Ibm for one free copy of vista bussiness recovery dvd's. Thats what I got told in Germany and received after some days.
Your problem with distroyed boot.ini could depend by a bad hd, but I would try to make a complete reinstall first.

    Hi Siriphan, using the command line is the easiest way to deal with this.
    You need to understand the difference between trusted  and untrusted interfaces. The untrusted interfaces are the ports that  will be inspected and if not specified within the arp entry list then  will get dropped.
    Any port you do not want arp inspection to be a part of, you need to trust that port.
    Below is how to make a port trusted.
    configure terminal
    interface fe1
    ip arp inspection trust
    Once you establish the trusted ports, you can build your arp list.
    configure terminal
    ip ap inspection list create ARP_INSPECTION  (the word after the create can be anything you want)
    ip 192.168.100.3 mac-address 64:31:50:1c:50:a1
    This  is the example of adding 1 entry to your arp list. You can add128 of  these entries. These IP/mac binds are the devices that are "safe" from  being dropped.
    Lastly, you need to enable the arp  inspection globally. You DO NOT want to toggle the arp inspection  without establishing your interfaces or bind list. If you do not  establish your trust interfaces and list first, you will lock down any  connection through the switch and essentially brick it.
    To toggle the global arp inspection
    configure terminal
    ip arp inspection
    Once you're done, save your running config to the start up config.

  • Asking again: any fixes for http:/1.1 300 and 500 errors in iCal-Server?

    I've set up several OS X servers in the last few months, most of them with ical services up and running. Quite everything works smooth, but most customers experience sooner or later errors like
    http:/1.1 300... (mostly with repeating events, which seem to be buggy in iCal&CalDAV already for a long time)
    http:/1.1 500...
    neither are there any relevant entries in the log, nor does it occur on a regular base - in fact, we can observe these errors all 2 or 3 weeks or so. Stopping an restarting of iCal services usually fixes them. DNS is set up perfectly well, including the SRV-entries.
    What about you? Do we just have to live with these errors? Or do I really have to sell Kerio to my customers?

    Hi Roman
    I have had a few years setting up and administering various calendar options on Xserve.
    The Apple built in iCal server is by far the worst of the lot.
    Previous to that we used phpicalendar- http://phpicalendar.net/documentation/index.php/Main_Page
    It is a bit dated and does not support the same feature set as the Apple one. It works well though.
    Kerio on the other hand is great, works well and is easy to use, apart from accepting invites on iOS devices. Its also a much better mailserver than Apple's one.
    Another option is to write a script to run everyday to stop and restart the ical service?

  • How to do a clean installation of windows 7 on hp touchsmart 300-1000

    My hard drive recently crashed in my touchsmart 300. I have purchased a new one but when I insert the installation cd it shortly freezes on starting windows screen right after it installs the windows files for the first time. I have recently read threads about this and saw the safe mode option and disabling the video driver but I can not get to that screen. After I hit any key to boot from dvd i tap F8 and it starts loading windows files, then when it is done it gives me the option to run in safe mode then installs files and freezes again. Can somebody please help me!!!! I am going on over a week straight trying to fix this. Thanks

    Go to page 56  under "Starting system recovery from user-created recovery discs
    This section contains the procedure for performing a system recovery from the recovery discs you created"
    If Windows 7 is installed, the F8 should get the user into Safe Mode.  Remove the Recovery DVD from the DVD drive before this action is done. What happens now?

  • SPA 300 and 500 series programming guides

    Hello all.
    I am working a FreePBX system that implements Cisco SPA 300 series and 500 series solely. I have been trying to find more information regarding programming the line buttons for special features, like call pickup, and the lower 4 programmable buttons, but I can't seem to find any proper documentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Also if anyone has experience with provisioning these devices in a FreePBX environment I would love any and all pointers on that as well.

    Although not specific to FreePBX, this document map may help you.
    There is a lot of information specific to FreePBX out on the Internet. When searching, keep in mind that FreePBX is based on Asterisk and that the SPA5xx and SPA3xx IP phones are children of the SPA9xx phones so you may find more help by searching using the SPA942 as a model number, for example.

    Hello, I've purchased a Pavilion 500-503ns at the HP Store. My issue is when I try to install a image throught Windows Deployment Services. Boot image starts correctly but when boot.wim executes a message appears. Network driver (Realtek LAN) is missing in the image boot.wim server. I've try to add the files .inf downloaded by hp.com drivers section but Windows Deployment Services can't add this drivers to the image because there aren't signed by Realtek. Any ideas to add this drivers without signature? Where I could find this drivers signed? Thanks

  • Fan problem in Windows 7 Pro on SL 300

    I have a Windows 7 Professional (full version not RC nor Beta) installed on my Lenovo SL300. The problem is that the fan turns on at the very begining and never stops even at CPU usage level 0-1% and dimmed screen. I have installed all Windows-recommended drivers and tried to manipulate System Cooling Policy in Power Settings, but the problem remains. The notebook is new and the core temperature remains stable near 42 C.

       There seems that the Flash Player is not uninstalled completely. Firstly click on the below URL and on that page, under "2. Find the version of Flash Player installed on your computer" check the version that shows. You may need to install the latest version that that.

    Download and run this driver.  You will probably get an unsupported operating system error.

    Close out of any error windows.
    Go to the device manager and click on the video controller needing drivers.
    Click on the driver tab.  Click on update driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
    That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.
    Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
    Reboot and your graphics should be working normally.
    You will not have Windows aero because the Intel GMA 900 graphics adapter is not 100% Vista or W7 capable but at least you will be able to change the screen resolution and have graphics acceleration enabled.

    This can be achieved, you need to first create the javascript function which will open the popup and add that to the HomePage through and then call that function during onLoad of the HomePage. Here is a code sample,
    1. Extend the page level controller and write a new controller
    2. Write the following code in processRequest before calling super.

    I suspect your problem is that the child window hasn't been created by the time you call the function in the parent.Loading the content is an asynchronous processes -- AIR doesn't stop executing your code until the window has finished loading child.html. So, you will need to add an eventlistener to html2 and call the function from there:

         html2.window.mytest();

    You can achieve this using javascript.
    Give link url against each menu item like this
    In case of forms
    javascript:void window.open('MYBUGS.wwa_app_module.new_instance?p_moduleid=2043732057','subWindow','HEIGHT=300,WIDTH=500')
    In case of reports
    javascript:void window.open('MYBUGS_DEMO.EXAMPLE_WIZ_RPT.show','subWindow','HEIGHT=300,WIDTH=500')
    You can change the height, width and url accordingly. The url is the run link of the component.
