Windows XP Pro x64 problem with hardware aud

I just upgraded my computer and with this upgrade I installed Windows XP Pro x64. I am having the following symptoms and I am wondering if they aren't part of a larger problem.
When I run DXDiag (either the 32 or 64bit version) I get the following error message during the tests on the Sound tab: "Your sound card does not support hardware buffering. Sounds will only play back from software buffers.". Is this normal for Windows XP Pro x64. I've used this OS before (with my older system) and never saw that message and used 2 different X-Fi cards during that time!
I also have this problem...While running Thief Deadly Shadows, when I enable "Audio Hardware Mixing" I loose all sound. And I am unable to enable "EAX Advanced HD" and "EAX Multiple Environments".
It seems like I can't enable hardware audio. But I also have Lord of The Rings Online installed and it appears to be using it's hardware audio ok, but when I change from hardware to software it crashes if I don't disable EAX first, so it's not perfect. Is this card faulty or is this typical of WXPx64 or what?
Thanks...
My system specs are: Intel E6850, Asus P5K Deluxe (0404 BIOS), Corsair Twin2X4096-6400DHX, EVGA e-Geforce 8800 GTX, Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, Intel PRO/000 PT Server Adapter, Enermax Galaxy 000W Gamers Edition. I think that's all that's relevant.Message Edited by Zapper_Weisman on 07-27-20070:2 AM

I disabled the Memory Remap Feature in the BIOS and my DXDiag and Thief problems went away. I had a hunch it was related to this. But now my question is, am I just out of luck, in terms of having to sacrifice some of my RAM (3.25GBs instead of 4GBs) to get my sound card working properly? It seems to me that this is a driver issue, as I've read others say that Creative never really supported x64 fully.
Does anyone have anything to offer on this? Thanks...Message Edited by Zapper_Weisman on 07-27-20070:22 AM

  • Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 editi

Hello, I recently bought a Zune and then found out it wasn't compatible with my OS, XP Pro x64. I installed the software on my laptop, but it was just too troublesome to set everything up and exchange music, videos, etc. between the two machines. So I've decided to return the Zune and get a Zen instead. I'd really like to buy the ZEN 8GB, but it does not state whether or not the x64 edition is supported. The ZEN V Plus states that the software does support the OS, so if I have to get that one, I don't mind. Thanks.

CRe: Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 edition?H I recently bought a Zen 8GB mp3 player. I have an xp x64 pro OS. As soon as I tried to instal the included software from the CD, a dialogue box appeared stating, "The windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product." I have done everything the technical assistance group has suggested with the samed result including a clean install. I did load it on my 32 bit laptop. It works fine. ONe of the problems I have found is that the correspondance goes to a different person each time and they are not reading the dialogue. I have found a way to make it work (well somewhat) with my 64 bitg machine. Oddly enough thed software for my zen V load on fine but the software is incampatable with the Zen 8GB unit. I think that there are softwarfe problems and CT is not really dealing with them.

I will update thread with their reply as nothing, even Driver Genius Professional 11 has located the actual working driver. Once an update is verified, I will post back to this thread since I couldn't find the right answer online.
THIS BTW I TESTED IS INCORRECT [You may verify if you don't believe such] :

  • Oracle XE 11g x64 does not run. No *DBF files inside of the XE folder. Windows 7 Pro x64.

    Hello everyone!
I hope you are doing well all. In my case I have some troubles by installing Oracle XE 11g on my PC. My OS is Windows 7 Pro x64.
    1. I activated the Administrator mode on my PC (net user Administrator /active:yes)
    2. Started the setup as Administrator. The setup process was finished successfully with no errors showed.
    3. Started the Database, OracleServiceXE, OracleXETNListener and other services.
    4. Tried to connect using sqlplus-> connect system ->password, what in result gave me ORA-01034 Oracle not available and ORA-27101 Shared memory realm does not exist errors.
    5. Then I recognized that my C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\oradata\XE folder is empty when it should be usually full with 6 DBF file.
    6. I opened the cloneDBCreation.log and it contains these data:

I spent around 2 days to come to this reason and now I do not know what to do next.
My actions to resolve this problem:
    1. Checked if my user has administrative rights and belongs to ora_dba. It does!
    2. Turned Microsoft UAC off.
    3. Set the system and local variables of ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, TNS-ADMIN to the appropriate values in Enivornment Variables:
         - ORACLE_BASE -> C:\oraclexe
         - ORACLE_HOME -> %ORACLE_BASE%\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server
         - ORACLE_SID -> XE
         - Added to PATH -> C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin;
         - TNS_ADMIN -> %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin
    4. Removed Oracle XE 11g and reinstalled to another drive. No sense!
    Some more errors:
    1. C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\config\log\XE.bat.log

It means -> O/S-Error: (OS 1387) Unable to add or remove a member from the local group because this member does not exist.
I understand that I need to logon as batch job. I added me to this policy in User Rights Assignments, but still I get these "DIM-00019: create service error" and "O/S-Error: (OS 1387)". And I guess just therefore my database is not starting well.
    2. 127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4950 is not starting in browser. It is probably because the database is not running appropriately. But in my case I do not see this line in my Listener Status:

Guys please help me to solve this issue, 'cause I've almost got frustrated to find out the solution of this problem. Thank you beforehand!!

I have tried to install both of them lots of times but in each case I receive the same in my XE.bat file:
    Instance created.
    DIM-00019: create service error
O/S-Error: (OS 1387) Unable to add or remove a member from the local group because this member does not exist.
Have checked OS 1387 error at Microsoft Support and as possible cause of the problem they give as follows:
This issue can occur if the environment has a disjointed namespace (i.e. the domain has different NetBIOS and DNS names). For example, assume that the domain has a NetBIOS name of "domain.com" and a DNS name of "domain-old.com." When users are added in the Windows UI, they are displayed in the format of domain\ComputerName. However, you notice in the error log that there was an attempt to add a computer account in the format of domain-old\ComputerName. (System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager install fails and generates ID: 4323: "A member could not be added")
Tried to find out my DNS name, but it is impossible because I don't have any domain installed and my machine is not connected to it. Some other blog (Install Oracle 11gR2 on Windows) advices to work with adding my computer account to some non-real windows domain (just for the purpose of resolving the network) as well and reinstall the database then. If I undestand it right I need minimum 2 machines for this. But I own just one, where the server is based and thought that is enough to run the database... no idea ..

  • Windows 7 pro x64 and palm centro

I'm running windows 7 pro X64 and the software installed just fine, but not the driver.  Does Palm have any plans for a solution?  Are there any third party drivers that will solve my problem without having to install a bluetooth device on my pc?
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Hello rpiquette, Welcome to the Palm Support Community!
Palm has moved away from their legacy operating system (PalmOS) and on to a new one called webOS.  Since Palm Inc. doesn't even own their own software anymore (Palm Desktop) I'd seriously doubt any further support will be forthcoming for Win7, especially for 64-bit architecture.
Palm Inc. has historically not divulged any "future plans" for software (or hardware).   Will a third-party develop a desktop client?  I have no idea at this point, but the opportunity certainly exists!

  • W520 hangs on Windows 7 Pro x64 installation, cannot boot live CD

    Hi Everyone!
I decided to reach out to the community for some intelligence that I have not been able to obtain elsewhere.  Here's my story in details in case someone can find a break on any of them ...
I purchased my W520 in November, 2011 with 1 year warranty and used it without issues until last week.  One morning when I started the laptop, it loaded Windows 7 Pro x64, I logged in.  After loading the desktop, I locked the screen/user and stepped out for a minute.  When I came back, the screen was frozen and after a few minutes of waiting I manually powered off the laptop.
Upon restart, Windows 7 would hang on the logo screen and restart in a few minutes.  I was able to restart under Safe Mode, however, which enabled me to create the rescue DVD's.
I decided to re-install the OS, but the installation would hang on the Windows logo screen again.  This was also attempted with all accessories (usb kbd, usb wireless mouse, and display I also tried w/o the battery) disconnected. Then I thought, that it could be a bad hdd - I tried installing XP Pro but got the BSOD with a bad hdd error code.  At that point, I attached the hdd to a working PC and ran checkdisk which found no errors. The problem persisted even with unpartitioned disk and a spare hdd that I had on hand.  What intrigued me was that no linux live CD could load (it would freeze on the loading screen).
After this, I flashed the BIOS to the newest version without any issues during the flash process.  The Windows 7 Pro x64 installation would hang again at the usual logo screen.  I also tried with different DVD source... Memtest did not show any problems either.
Then I called an IT support guy who was not experienced with the issue and took the laptop for bench testing, and after four days of back and forth the IT company was inconclusive that the issues is most likely caused by a bad BIOS.
This happened around March 21, 2013 after Windows 7 installed updates (not sure if this could be related).  The weird part is that the W520 worked fine for a year and four months and when it crashed I was able to use Safe Mode, access and flash BIOS, but was unable to run new installation or live CD's.
Is there anything that I am missing?  Has anyone had the same experience?  What is the conclusion according to you - it is really bad BIOS chip or just a UEFI-related setting?
Thanks for reading and trying to help!

    Sir:
I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you write "BIOS v1.40 settings that will make it possible to install Windows 7  Pro 64", but, you can download the 1.40 BIOS (which appears to be the most recent release) from this link: Device Driver File Matrix - W520 , and if you have any concerns about the BIOS settings not being appropriate, just enter the BIOS setup manager (tap the F1 key repeatedly when the laptop is booting) and select 'revert to defaults' or similar.

  • Windows 7 Pro x64 now BSOD just as it is starting and Startup Repair has failed

As the title says, a few days ago my Windows 7 Pro x64 started to BSOD just as Windows is starting but the error screen disappears immediately.
Startup Repair fails and has Problem Signature 04: 21199350
I have used the Windows 7 Pro installation DVD and opened its Command Prompt option and then run the chkdsk and sfc programs but no errors were reported. Also, I ran bootrec with /fixmbr then with /fixboot and finally with /rebuildbcd but it made no difference.
After a failure, the next time I turn on the PC I am offered to repair Windows or to start windows normally. Using the repair from here didn't work as also happened when I chose the repair option from the Windows 7 Pro installation DVD.
Holding down the f8 key when Windows is starting doesn't make any difference.
BTW, the crash happens as the 4 small parts of windows are approaching each other on the Windows start screen.
I can access my hard disk by attaching it to my laptop. If the error 21199350 reported by Startup Repair failure is not the BSOD error, will this be recorded in a file each time it happens? If so, which file?
Any help will be greatly appreciated as I dread having to reinstall Windows 7 Pro from scratch again and all the many programs I spent ages installing.
    Thanks
    Paul

Sorry for the delay in replying.
This evening I managed to modify the PC registry from the Startup Repair command window so it wouldn't reboot on BSOD.
Used regedit.exe to modify the following in the PC's registry (I followed the 17 July 2011 Terra-byte "Modify the Windows Registry from Startup Repair" article):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\CrashControl] and set AutoReboot to 0x00000000.
    and also for ControlSet002.
The BSOD error is: 0x0000007B which seems to be a device driver problem.
Would my problem be caused by my installing 2x 2GB DIMMs that I bought on eBay into my Abit AB9 Pro motherboard's two free slots (the other two slots each have 1GB DIMMs) but on power on nothing happened?
Removing the two new DIMMs the PC powered on but then resulted in BSOD.
    Thanks
    Paul
Error 0x000000tB is a very often reported error.  It means INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE.  Either something in your BIOS changed the type of storage device (AHCI -> IDE) or your HDD is experiencing a possible failure.

  • SB0090 Windows XP Pro X64 ed. driv

    Hi all,
I have tried just about every driver I can find and none of them seem to work for my Audigy Sb0090 card on my Windows xp pro x64 machine.
If I run the one thats under Audigy > Soundblaster? on creatives website, it doesn't recognize that I have a sb0090. It just shows it as a A00 or something like that. I do however have sound to my speakers after installing the driver, but I do not have any sound to the front bay and my computer says that there is no driver to be installed for my "high definition audio buss".
Is there any driver available for the x64 bit version of windows? or maybe my problem isn't the driver?
    Any help would be appriceated.
    System specs:
    Windows xp Pro x64 ed.
    AMD athalon 64 x2 3.0gHz?
    2gigs ram
    80gig hd
    Asus mobo..
    Sapphire HD5600 gfx card?

    Install the Vista drivers.
EAX and such will work maybe. On XP32 Vista drivers are fine (the new beta XP is better), with EAX/Directsound working. It should work in XP64 the same.

  • Windows 8 Pro x64 (64 bit) ISO

    Hi guys,
After searching for what feels like days (but is really only hours), I have still not managed to find a legit ISO image of Windows 8 Pro x64.
The problem I have is that I have the newest iMac and so don't have a cd drive.
I contacted microsoft and dicovered that if I have an ISO image of the version mentioned above, a student upgrade license would actually activate this with no problem.
I am a student and thought that I had to pay £99.99 for the full version but when using microsoft's online chat to get help from a sales advisor I found that if you ordered Windows 8 Pro Student version (x64) with back-up media (which costs nothing extra), you could actually complete a full install using this, only I have the problem of not having a cd drive! I then asked about an ISO image that is copied to a usb stick and she said that this would work fine.
So I just need to find an ISO of Windows 8 Pro (x64) Student version. (I'm not sure if the student version is exactly the same as plain pro version but it should be)
    Thanks,
    Jack

When you buy and download it should offer Setup Assistant to upgrade if you have Windows or a link to the ISO.
    Did when I bought it.
Now because I had Windows 8 I could go and download the full Windows 8.1 Preview, but not if you don't have 8 already.
There is a link to Windows 8 Pro Student

  • Can't connect to shared printer on Windows 7 Pro x64

I have a print server on Windows 2008 Standard and I have drivers installed for both x86 and x64 archs. The ricoh printer seems to work fine on windows 7 pro x64 but the hp printer will not work correctly. It seems to download/install the drivers but when actually connecting to the printer it errors out.
It says cannot connect to printer.
I can add the printer manually if I use tcp/ip printing instead of connecting to the shared printer. I can't figure out why its not working. Has anyone else seen an error like this? I'm not really sure what is causing this issue.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thanks for the post.
Please also let us know the exact model of this HP printer.
If possible, please reproduce this issue on the Windows7 client and collect the relevant information for further research.
    Step 1: Download Process Monitor
    ======================
    1. Please download the Process Monitor at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
    2. Extract the zip file to Desktop.
    Step 2: Clean Boot
    =============
Let's disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:
    1. Click "Start", go to "Run", and type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in the open box to start the System Configuration Utility.
    2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
    3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
    4. Click "OK" to restart your computer to Selective Startup environment.
    5. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
    6. Check whether or not the issue still appears in this environment.
Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other programs. We may still manually run these programs later.
    Step 3: Collect the Information
    =====================
    1. Open Procmon.exe (Process Monitor).
    2. Reproduce this issue.
    3. After that, please click Capture in the tool bar (or directly press Ctrl+E) in Process Monitor.
    4. Click Save, in the prompt window, selects “All Events”.
    5. Click Browser Button (The button is right to “Path”), in the prompt window, click Desktop, type “test” (without the quotation marks) in the File Name box and press Enter.
    6. Find the file, right-click on this file, click "Send To", and click "Compressed (zipped) Folder".
For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you.  You can upload the information files to the following link.  (Please choose "Send Files to Microsoft")
    Workspace URL: (https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=7f161e43-e9d9-4654-9077-88c9f57137c6)

Note: Due to differences in text formatting with various email clients, the workspace link above may appear to be broken.  Please be sure to include all text between '(' and ')' when typing or copying the workspace link into your browser.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to add network printers from Windows Server 2012 R2 to client running Windows 7 Pro x64

New Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard in the environment.  Added print services to it and added five HP printers to it and shared them.  Also deployed the printers via group policy.
Clients are running Windows 7 Pro x64.  The group policy fails to install the printers (error 0x00000002).  We get the same error when trying to manually add the printer from the client side.
From Event Viewer: Group Policy was unable to add per computer connection <<printer share>>. Error code 0x2. This can occur if the name of the printer connection is incorrect, or if the print spooler cannot contact the print server.
    Any ideas on troubleshooting this?
    Thanks.
    -John

    John,
You might try playing with the HP universal driver, that might help you.  Try installing a new shared printer on the server using the universal print driver, then try and connect to it to see if it is any better.
Check these GPO settings to ensure local machines can install the drivers.
    1. Configure the following two Group Policy settings:
Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\Driver Installation\Allow non-administrators to install drivers for these devices setup classesEnabled
    2. Device class GUID of printers: {4d36e979-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Printers/Point and Print RestrictionsEnabled
Security Prompts: When Installing Drivers for a new connection = Do not show warning or elevation prompt

  • Problems with hardware acceleration

    Hallo
I have big problems with hardware acceleration in flash player. What complicates the problem is my laptops manufacter note here:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-69684
so I'm accualy confused - is my laptop defected or the source of the problem is in flash player engine.
In to to point: I can't play some videos, because my video adapter/driver is restarted during watching and after it happens - flash plugin doesn't work anymore (until browser is restarted).
I have flash player in version: 10.2.154.25
Nvidia driver: 260.99 (with newest situations is not much better, I tried newest WHQL certified driver but I didn't work perfectly)
    Hardware: Lenovo ThinkPad T61, core2duo 2.1Ghz, 3GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro 140M NVS.
And here's video showing my laptops behaviour:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrXJCcWV2Sk
Notice also screen blinking (and audio stuttering) before video adapter is restarted.
Is it flash fault or hardware is defected?

I got my laptop with replaced systemboard today.
Unfortunately the problem is still present. In the meantime there was Flash update released (10.2.159.1 for IE) so I also tried to install newest version - but it didn't help.
Having systemboard replaced, flash updated I still have screen blinking, video adapter restarting and NOT smooth playback using hardware acceleration.

  • Can't install Windows 7 Pro x64 - device driver missing - can't eject DVD

    Hello,
I am trying to install Windows 7 Pro x64 - I create the partition in boot camp and start windows install process. **During the Windows install process**, it says "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: if the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step".
Apparently the drivers are on the OSX install DVD. But, there is no way to eject the windows DVD! Why on earth is there no manual eject on Macs? Is there another way to eject? I tried to put a paperclick in the slot next to where a CD is inserted but it didn't do anything. Is there another way to get Windows to see the correct device drivers?
I am all for clean slick designs, but when it does not have all required functionality, it is kind of useless.
I am talking to Mac Support and they can't help.
Looks like I will have to return this Mac, I also need to boot into full Windows (without Parallels or VMWare) to do my work.

You don't mention what Mac you have, so I'd have to say there is almost no way to help.
IF the 7 Pro x64 came download ISO thru EDU, you have to burn it, and if you use Disk Utility, at 2X reduced burn speed... otherwise it won't work.
A VM isn't fussy and can use ISOs.
If you want both native and VM, to have Windows installed on its own hard drive and use it under OS X, then you have to install it and use Boot Camp Assistant.
I'd say it is all about your DVD media.

  • Both xp and windows 7 have video problems with my VGA connection using TV

both xp and windows 7 have video problems with my VGA connection using TV as my monitor when it gets to starting up windows no matter what version it will not I have let my mac on all night and still says starting windows or the windows 7 logo and nothing else will happen also when I use a 3rd patty software like peraills or other it works like a charm how to fix it?

To map the drive on your computer click on Start - RUN - type "\\192.168.1.1" and click ok... When prompted for Username and Password type "admin" and click ok... Now you will be able to see the folder which you have shared on  your router, right click on it and select "Map network drive" and click on finish.
Now it will map the drive on your computer and you should be able to transfer the file from your computer to the USB drive.

  • Using techtool pro found problem with "volume structure".  What to do?

Using techtool pro found problem with "volume structure" and this was not fixed by TECHTOOL PRO.  What do you suggest I do?

I would boot from my gray install disk (put the disk in the drive and restart holding down the C key). Then choose Utilities and run Disk Utility and click Repair Disk. As always, be sure you have a back up of your data first.
