Windows XP Still Camera empty

Hi all,
Following problem:
I have an entry "digital till camera" in my device manager and workspace.
But wenn I open it in the workspace, it is empty. When I tell windows to transfer images from the camera to the computer, it says, that it can not find the camera.
Sync via itunes works well. But I want to be able to access the images via the workspace.
(windows xp, latest service pack, iphone with 2.0 ( now 2.0.0 - both did not work )
Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance

for all those who might have the same problem:
this

  • IPad Photo Transfer: Windows Vista Digital Still Camera Driver Failed

    Hi,
I am trying to transfer photos from my iPad to my laptop. When I plug it in to the laptop the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver installs successfully and the Digital Still Camera driver fails. I have previously transferred photos in this way without any problem. When I plug the iPad in to the laptop it does not show up in 'my computer', the iPad is on and the screen is unlocked. Autoplay is on but no menu appears to transfer the photos. The photos I want to transfer have been taken on the iPad. It shows up in iTunes as normal. I can transfer photos from my iPhone to the laptop without a problem.
    This is what I've tried:
    - uninstall iTunes and reinstall
    - restart the computer
    - turn iPad on and off
    - uninstall and reinstall apple device driver (even though it was up to date and said to be working as usual)
    - plugged it in to an old laptop (windows xp) and it worked as expected
    - checked for usbappl.syn in C:\Windows\system32\drivers and it is present
    - uninstalled all Apple content from my laptop and reinstalled it all again
    - repaired the Apple Mobile Device Support program
Any help would be much appreciated, it is driving me crazy!

    Hi
I've had similar problem with my Iphone 8gb 1.1.2 OTB and Windows Vista right from when i purchased it. I tried calling Apple support and tried out all the things that you've done so far and got fed up with it. Now I download my pictures using a third party software called TouchCopy. Apple was not able to identify the issue but it certainly an issue with the OS and not the Iphone. It works like a breeze with my Windows XP PC at home but my laptop doesn't recognize it and it just gives "device installation failed". But curiously for sometime like 15 days ago, the device driver got installed but still I didn't get the camera icon in MY Computer... So if somebody could help... great!!!
And Hail Vista because I've had several driver issues like these and my antivirus is OneCare so I don't think Microsoft could complain about my installations.
    Cheers

  • Windows XP not recognizing the iphone still camera

I have been using successfully iphone (2G) with itunes and photoshop. For last 1 week when i updated the itunes to 8 and iphone to 2.0.2, windows does not recognize the digital still camera. Hence photoshop and picassa can't detect iphone and i can't sync photos from iphone to photoshop and vice versa.
It is working perfectly fine on other PCs. I know that there is something wrong with my windows or iphone drives but can't figure out what.
Itunes is able to detect the iphone and can sync seamlessly. Can anyone help whats going wrong.

    One thing that might help.
When the iphone is connected to the computer, click on start.
Then right click on My Computer and choose Manage.
In the computer management window, click device manager on the left hand side.
The to right, look to see if there are any items with exclimation marks or red x.
If one is the iphone or under imaging devices, try reloading the driver or delete is.
If you delete it, disconnect the iphone and reconnect.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 3GS not being recognized as a still camera in Windows

Hi, this is my first post ever!
My problem is that whenever I plug my iPhone 3GS in my PC (running Windows 8 Dev. preview) it isn't recognized as a still camera (or MTP device) so I'm not able to copy photos from the camera roll. The thing is it was working fine until yesterday. Note that iTunes syncing works perfectly. I've tried unistalling the drivers form the Device Manager, I've tried unistalling the USB controllers and then restarting etc. but nothing worked . I really need to fix this problem since I've got a lot of photos to transfer.

Connect it to another computer not running a Beta version of Windows, does it work correctly?
If so, the issue is with Windows.
If not, then you might actually have an issue with the device.

Hi, I was able to reformat my iPod and that worked. I read it on one of the threads and I am copy pasting the method below:
I opened the "My Computer" window and right-clicked on my ipod, and then selected "Format". I select "Yes" to format since I don't have anything on the nano to delete anymore.
I then Eject my nano from the computer and did a restart while the nano is disconnected from the computer.
Once Windows finish loading I reconnect the USB to the nano(back of computer) which automatically pulls up iTune. It asked me to name the new ipod detected and created a playlist for that specific ipod name.

  • Having problem with Premiere CS2 not recognising AVI from a still Camera?

Wow, My first time back to the forum in 3 month and it's all new!
Since I found "the" answer to a new problem I've encountered I'd like to share it.
I filmed part of a wedding with a little canon still camera (S3IS) on a 4 gb SD card and when I tried to import some of the clips (AVI) in PP2 it failed. A msg told me that my clips were either on the wrong format or corrupted! Strange because I have done it b4 whithout problem and also the first 20 clips were ok. as for the others they opened normally on windows media player and also played ok on movie maker. I also tried to load them into SceneAnalyser Live but without success. However I decided to make a movie out of my problem clips on Movie Maker and ended up with a MVW file that loaded ok into premiere!  I tried to change the extention to this format but no go! I wonder if I converted all my faulty AVI files in this format wether it would work, most likely I imagine as I think this is what I actually did, but the long way around.Anyway it's quite a relief to know I will be able to use my clips.
    I'm sure someone knows what it's happening here...Eddy r u listening?

Whenever I connect my iphone 4 to my lap top i get a message saying digital still camera and the my laptop crashes, it is really frustrating, please help

Reinstall iTunes. Make sure you follow the instructions in this support document to the letter. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923.
You may have some problems because Apple has not certified that everything works with Windows 8 yet.

  • Windows XP SP2 - Camera driver will not load

Have the same problem on two different machines. iTunes sees the phone and all the things in it sync as expected, Contacts, Calendar, Pictures, Music, etc.
The first time I connected the phone after taking a picture, I get the pop up showing that Windows sees the Digital Still Camera. Shortly after that I get the "Windows encountered a problem" message stating that my new device might not work properly. The phone is connected directly to the PC's USB 2.0 port using the cable that came with the phone.
Device manager shows the Digital Still Camera with the yellow exclamation mark on the icon. The device status reports...
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware
because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)"
I removed iTunes 7.3.1 and reinstalled it. I removed the camera driver, rebooted, and let Windows re-recognize the camera. Same problem, both machines, both XP Pro SP2.
    Any ideas?
      Windows XP Pro

Resolved. No wonder I'm the only one that encountered this.
I use a Visioneer Strobe Pro USB sheet fed scanner.
    http://support.visioneer.com/products/mobile/EOL/StrobePro/
In Device Manager under Imaging Devices, it was showing Digital Still Camera (with the yellow exclamation mark) and Visioneer StrobePro USB Scanner.
On a whim, I decided to unplug the scanner. Then I closed the scanner driver via its icon in the system tray. Within a few seconds, Device Manager updated itself, Digital Still Camera had changed to Apple iPhone. Right away I got the 'Camera connected' dialog asking how I wanted to retrieve the photos from my device. It also shows up in My Computer under Scanners and Cameras. Problem solved.
Next I plugged my scanner back in and now it's got the yellow exclamation mark indicating a problem with the driver. No big surprise.
Once I disconnect the phone and plug the scanner back in, Device Manager updates again and the scanner driver shows back up without the yellow icon. Lastly I reload the scanner driver.
I'm not sure why these two conflict. Don't know if Windows forbids more than one imaging device to be connected at a time or what. Maybe the scanner driver is so old that it doesn't behave properly...it's certainly not certified on XP.

  • Hi,  i installed an upgrade for itunes on my windows computer it came with a error message of msvcr80.dll

    Hi
I installed a upgrade of itunes on my windows computer
It came up with error message of msvcr80.dll     I went to repair and to reinstall itunes   but this didnt fix it
    Please help me

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • Digital Still Camera message

    Hi,
When I connect my iPod Touch to my PC (Windows XP) my system recognises it as a Digital Still Camera then the computer shuts down. I have attached my old iPod Nano and this is recognised correctly indicating it is not the computer. This problem started when I updated to the latest version of iTunes. I have un-installed and re-installed iTunes. Can someone give me guidance on what to do to resolve this issue please.
    Thanks
    Pete

I'm not sure why the computer would shut down, but usually the reason that iTunes thinks an iPod Touch is a camera is because you have pictures on it that were taken as screenshots by the Touch or by one of the Apps on the Touch.
On the Touch, look in Photos. Is there a heading called *saved photos?* If so, that's a picture taken on the Touch and until it's removed from the *saved photos* camera roll on the Touch, you'll continue to see the camera message when you connect the Touch to iTunes.
Follow the prompts and copy the photos to your computer _and then_ make sure you remove them from the *saved photos* of the Touch.

  • Input from still camera 720p produces inconsistent format

I have a still camera that shoots 720p30 video and I've gone through the menu of the camera to ensure that it is set correctly.
When I want to import into FCE, I have to use the Import function as neither Capture nor Log and Transfer will recognize the content. I assume that this is normal for my camera.
The viewer shows the imported clip at 39% image size, but the canvas is at 100%. Both windows are at the same physical size. There are noticeable differences in sharpness and colour temperature between the viewer and the canvas with the viewer being much better. How do I get the viewer and canvas to be at the same settings. Playing with the window size doesn't do the job.

FCE does not support any still camera directly. The media has to be converted to a codec and format that works with the application. You most likely can use MPEG Streamclip to do this. What you convert this to depends entirely on exactly what the specifications of your media is. If you don't know exactly perhaps you could say what your camera is. If you search the web for the camera you'll probably be able to find information about this.

  • Syncing Trouble - "Digital Still Camera"

For months now I've not been able to sync the pictures from my iphone back to my computer. Whenever I plugged it into the USB port I got a dialogue asking to install the "Digital Still Camera" and never being able to find a driver. Looking on the web lots of people seem to report this problem and seem to isolate it to a driver called usbaapl.sys, however I have discovered this is not the rogue driver.
If you are getting the "Digital Still Camera" problem then you are missing a driver from the /Windows/System32 directory called ptpusb.sys, which has a sister file called ptpusd.sys.
In my case the ptpusB.sys file was missing but either or both could be missing from your computer. Simply copy them from a machine that syncs correctly to your /windows/system32 folder and plug in your iphone. All should work again!
    Posted for information.

I have been having the same problem of not being able to access the digital camera on the Iphone for several months as well. In windows the driver would not be installed and could not be found anywhere. I reinstalled itunes, reapplied XP SP3, and called apple technical support to no avail. Everything worked fine on other computers. I finally corrected this issue by copying several files from a working computer to my main computer. the files are:
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\usbscan.sys
    c:\windows\system32\ptpusb.dll
    c:\windows\system32\ptpusd.dll
    c:\windows\inf\ptpusb.inf
I then registered the ptpusb.dll file opening a command prompt and navigating to the c:\windows\system32 directory. The command I used to register the file was:
    regsrv32 ptpusb.dll
I then right clicked on the ptpusb.inf file and clicked Install. I am not positive that you have to register the dll with windows since you are installing it, but that is what I did and it worked so I included it. That is pretty much it. I plugged the phone into a different USB slot and in windows found the correct driver and installed the phone. You might have to go into device manager and uninstall the current driver for windows to recognize the phone as a camera and for god sakes if you have a passcode on your phone unlock the phone. Now if I could only figure out what caused these files to disappear in the first place. I hope this helps someone.

  • "Digital Still Camera" not installing in XP Pro (IPhone 4 Os 4.2)

Help, all posts seem to be getting ignored in Apple regarding XP Pro.

    michaelpark wrote:
Thanks. When I attach the IPhone 4 to my desktop, XP Pro lower right hand corner pops up "Found IPhone" and then "Found Digital Still Camera", after that a Found New Hardware wizard opens and I'm not able to move past as none of the options work including things on Apple website with the driver, etc., then lower right corner, "not installed and may not work correctly". It does charge and works with ITunes. In a Windows 7 laptop, no problem, a window opens and asks about importing pictures, etc. and it all works.
If I understand correctly, it shows up as a digital camera but does not show up in iTunes. You get an error message installing the driver, which may be only a warning; it might work anyway. I assume you have iTunes 10.1 installed and that your account has Administrator privileges.
Open the Task Manager first; click on the Processes tab, then the Image Name column heading to sort it. Look for AppleMobileDeviceService.exe. If you do not see it you have found the problem. Launch the Service Manager (in Control Panel, Administrative Tools), find the service, right click it and choose Start. This should fix the problem.
If the service was running or you get an error starting it you need to completely remove iTunes, download a fresh copy, and reinstall it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Other possible causes include using a hub rather than a direct connection to a USB port on the computer, a firewall or antivirus that is blocking the connection, or a defective USB port.

That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
    Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCloudHelper
Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
    Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.
Launch Safari again and determine if the problem is fixed.
