Wireless Computer Not Printing to Shared Printer

My DELL Latitude D630 laptop will not print to the HP Officejet all-in-one 510 printer that has been setup on the wireless network to be shared. The printer status is shown as offline. The laptop will print to the printer with no problems when it is directly connected. The printer is connected to my HP Pavillion 543X desktop computer.

HP Officejet 6000 Wireless - Does not print black correctly.
Previously the printer was printing fine.
This evening I printed a diagram I made in MS PowerPoint. The diagram contained black and red text along with black, red, and blue lines. When I took the printed page from the printer, all the black items looked faded. Instead of black, they printed as a light, faded gray. The red and blue printed correctly.
Another user of the printer printed some documents around the same time. These documents had nothing but black text. Every page this user printed showed up completely blank. The black was not even faded. There were no signs of anything being printed on the pages at all.
It seemed strange that one print job would print faded black and the other printed nothing. Considering the possibility that the ink was low, a new black cartridge was placed into the printer. The exact same results occured. My diagram printed correctly except for the fact that the things that were supposed to be black were coming up as light gray. Once again, the documents printed by the other user came up completely blank.
I ran a print test on the printer. It printed a Windows logo with the word "Windows" below. The logo printed correctly. The text showed up as a light, faded gray.
A third user printed an Excel spreadsheet. The cell borders were printed as a light gray. Nothing else printed. Everything in the spreadsheet was supposed to be black.
The third user also printed a recipe from MS Word. Most of the text showed up as a light, faded gray. Some text did not show up at all. I could not see any correlation between what showed up in faded gray and what did not show up.
It seems to me that if something was wrong with the cartridges, it would either always be faded or not print at all. I can consistently get some things to print faded and other things to not print at all. Color always prints correctly.
The print jobs were sent to the printer wirelessly from three different computers. Two computers run Windows 7 (x64). The third computer runs Windows XP SP2.
As far as I can tell, nothing was changed or done differently between now and the last time something printed correctly.
Might this be a driver issue? Since the printing consistently prints one way for certain files and another way for other files, I don't see it as being caused by hardware. If it's not a software issue, what could possibly cause the effects I described above?

  • My HP officejet 6000 E609n wireless does not print on envelopes.

My HP officejet 6000 E609n wireless does not print on envelopes.  When I send an envelope address from the Microsoft Word envelope app, the envelope loads and then it  is send through the printer without printing on the envelope.  If instead of loading an envelope I load a plain sheet of 8x10.5 paper it will print the address as it should (side ways and on what would be an envelope).  I have had no problem printing envelope to my old DeskJet 930C with this Word envelope app.
I load the envelopes without the 8x10.5 paper and the paper guide moved over to the edge of the envelopes up which are against the right side of the load table as indicated on the tray guide.

After many frustrating and fruitless attempts to solve this problem, including updating the drivers and following so many bits of advice from so many sources including contacting HP customer services by phone and email (who have not, so far, shown the courtesy of acknowledging my enquiry), I seem to have overcome the problem by cutting a piece of A4 paper along its length to a width, which when added to the envelope’s height, equals the width of an A4 sheet. For example, I use DL envelopes which have a nominal width of 110mm so the width of the piece of paper cut from A4 (which is 210 mm wide) is 100 mm. This strip is then temporarily attached to the envelope by piece of low tack tape (such as masking tape) running along and joining the paper and the envelope tabs. I feed this assembly of strip and envelope into the printer in the default position, (i.e. the envelope on the right hand side of the tray, face down with the sealing tabs on the left). The printer seems to treat this assembly as a piece of A4 and prints the address etc on the envelope correctly. The envelope is then easily detached from the tape without damage and I have found that this works many times as sufficient tack remains on the tape. I know this sounds a little complicated but it soon becomes a simple task.
The HP Officejet 6000 printer has previously worked splendidly, printing envelopes from the Word 2007 envelopes function running on XP but has only recently malfunctioned since changing to Windows 7. For the record, I have also tried to print envelopes using the Word compatibility mode without success.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless - will not print green

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless that will not print Green.
    I have:
    1.  Cleaned Printhead using device cleaning command.  All steps
    2.  Alligned Printer - get message 'Alignment failed.  Refer to device documentation for details.'  I see know documentation
    3.  Calibrate Linefeed
    4.  Unplugged device while it was on and then replugged restarted.
    5.  Unplugged device while it was on and cleaned magenta/cyan printhead (following instructions from your website explictly).
The Alignment failed message persists and it still will not print green.  I have done some of the above multiple times.
I hope you can help quickly.  I have a home office and this is putting me behind a lot!
If I need a new printhead, get one and it does not fix the problem, can I return it?  How can I get a printhead quickly?
    THanks! Kathy

  • HP Officejet 6500 Wireless will not print black but will color

I did the soak & had a lot of build up & put it back in machine it still with not print anything black. I've tried copying a form still no luck, I tried a hard shut down to reboot its self still nothing. What else could it be? or what else could I try to get it up an working?
    thanks~~

    @fradybaby
Did you get any improvement at all with the Black after soaking the printhead? (as usually it is quite successful). Sometimes it might take a couple of attempts with the soak.
Is the printer still within warranty? (typically it's one year from date of purchase), as the issue could be related to the printer itself.

  • HP Envy 4500 wireless will not print without USB cable

My HP Envy 4500 wireless printer/scan/copier does not seem to be able to work without the USB cable.  I followed the instructions provided to change for USB to wireless but it will not work without.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software.  I have windows 7 on my laptop and an IPod both of which show that the printer is showing.  I made it the default printer.   The first time I tried to do it (without the USB cord) I was unable to get passed putting in my wireless password which starts with a capital K and wasn't certain how to make a capital so reread instructions and used the USB but really want to use it wireless.  Any suggestions.  I turned the firewall off this morning to try but to no avail.  If I do need to turn the firewall off would I then put it back on if it gets working?  I would so appreciate any suggestions!

  • Officejet pro 8000 wireless will not print from windows photo viewer. all other diagnostics ok.

OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x 64. All functions and printing are ok with this unit, excepting for printing through Windows Photo Viewer. Have latest software, drivers, etc., and all HP software and hardware diagnostic tools check out ok.
Checked Windows event log, and get Event 350, PrintService - Document  failed to print and was deleted because of corruption in the spooled file. The associated driver is: . Try printing the document again.
There is no additional info on this event listed in the Microsoft TechNet Events and Errors Message Reporting Center
When this happens, all of the lights on the printer flash very rapidly.
To correct, I clear the queue through Explorer, Troubleshoot, and unplug printer to reset.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks

FYI, I got this to work by treating my printer as a wired printer, even though it allegedly has wireless functionality. Luckily, my ohter devices can print to it wirelessly. At least I don't need to replace my printer just yet...

  • Re: HP Officejet 6500 Wireless will not print with black ink

My black ink cartridge was not working and I came across this site. Thank you Pokerchip your method worked fine I was about to buy a new printer till I came across your blog, I placed all the cartridges in plastic bags and  I washed the printer head first in metholated spirits then rinsed it well under the tap till the water ran clear, I placed the printerhead ouside in the warm night air overnight and in the morning put it back in my printer when it was thoroughly dry at first the printer message read no printhead installed so I press the ok button and the printer when through a process and finally printed a test page it was absolutely perfect, you saved me heaps of money very grateful for your help and I hope this helps others as well. Check out Pokerchip's blog on this site

I am glad things worked out for you, but there are two parts I would NOT recommend:  first, do not use metholated spirits as this can cause the printhead to delaminate requiring printhead replacement.  Secondly, I would not recommend leaving the printhead out of the printer overnight as this can allow the printhead to dry out and/or introduce air into the printhead.
The post here has my recommendations for cleaning the printhead, this has worked for many people.

It´s also possible to print from both computers if the Printer is connected to an Airport, but doesnt print at the momento the printer is connected to the iMac with OSX 10.5 running. Printer is shown on both computers no matter where the printer is connected. Drivers are new on both computers. The printer ist en EPSON Stylus Photo R300

  • 4500 wireless not printing

Hi, I have an Officejet Wireless 4500 printer. I setup the wireless connection in the printer, downloaded the software to my Macbook Pro OP Lion 10.7.5. Tried to print but queue indicates "printer is not available". Tried reseting the printer/scanner list on my computer but still no solution.Previously I had tried this with my Mac PC also with which the printer did not work either. Tried reseting printer list, unplugging the printer while turned on and many other FAQ recommendations. I even tried using a USB cable between computer and printer. Queue sometimes indicated that the printer was not available and other times the % loading bar completed as if printing but nothing happened with printer per se. Printer will not print with either the PC or the laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Community ,  I came across your post about how your Officejet 4500 Wireless is not printing from more than one computer, and that you see a message stating "printer is not available", and I wanted to reach out and try to help. I would like to start off with a power reset and have you try basic copies from the front of the printer. Let me know what happens when you make the copies, and we can move on to software troubleshooting if needed. If the copies also do not work, this is a sign of a hardware issue. Turn the printer on.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the unit.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the unit.
If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.  Make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power.   I hope to hear from you!Show thanks for my reply to help you today by hitting the "thumbs up" icon below!

  • ARTISAN 810 not printing

    Dear all,
Bought a new printer last week, tried to set it down and followed the instructions down to the letters. Was able to scan wirelessly but not print wirelessly.
have tried to reinstall the software numerous times to no avail.
disabled firewall on both the router and Mac > no joy
tried repair permission using disc to repair hd > no difference
reset printing pref > no better
reset manually on printer by entering IP, subnet mask etc > the same
    so, here is what happens
power on the printer> sys pref> Print and Fax> see all printer (USB, IP and Bonjour).
checked printer utilities> no problem there....
all hunky dory UNTIL..... I tried to print wirelessly
I get either 'communication error' or spooling...9% and stuck there until the print window disappeared.
then tried to look up the printer>Print and Fax> not there (only USB, IP)
checked check utilities > not able
not able to scan wirelessly util i reboot the printer
so, all the clever folks out there, what is wrong with the printer and what is wrong with me ?

The printer only supports 802.11g printing. 802.11n doesn't work. I've never tried scanning wirelessly. You might have better luck connecting it to your Wireless access point/router, and setting up printer sharing there.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless - won't print an iTunes Playlist.

No matter what I do, my new OJ Pro 8000 Wireless will not print an iTunes Playlist. I googled this and found that there is at least one other HP model with the same problem and no known solution. That really blows, considering how ubiquitous iTunes is. HP should solve this.

i have about 11 of these crappy printers on my site, i think i have sent more back to HP than i have actively working.
the current issue i have is also the black printing problem, its getting to the point where im considering recommending another supplier. HP's quality have gone though the floor with the recent crap they are producing..
cartridges are fine, even though the Hp rep i spoke to blamed the issue on the cartridge, it works fine in another machine, and a new cartridge also has the same fault. the print heads are also fine & replaced & tested in a working machine, same fault. all the cleaning pages & stages made no differance.
only solution - wave good bye and post it back to HP - yet again..
come on HP you used to care about your products and your customers, but lately you just churn our any piece of rubbish.
why have you let your standard slip soo far.. why dont you care about your customers anymore.

  • HP Photosmart C3135 "Not Printing right with Gimp-print for p1000"

Hi I am having trouble using my HP PhotoSmart C3135. First I will explain how it is set up.
    Wireless Setting's for Macbook - Mac 10.4.8
HP Photosmart C3135 - Connection "bonjour"
    Print using "HP Photosmart P100 - Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2
Wireless Setting's for Hp Laptop - Windows Xp Home
HP Photosmart C3135 - Connection "bonjour"
Print using "HP Photosmart C3100 Series"
    Corded Setting's for Macbook - Mac 10.4.8
HP Photosmart C3135 - Connection "USB"
Print using "HP Photosmart C3100 Series"
The Macbook wireless does not print with photo options, All pictures are dark and some Printed text is bigger than on USB or HP Laptop.
The Hp Laptop Wireless Works Great With Printing. But the actual software that is installed does not pick up the printer. Though I have not tried everything Yet to get the software to pick it up.
    On the Macbook with Bonjour
I go to add printer well it Auto-SeIect's the driver "HP All-in-One 4.0"
So I click Add. Then Error:-9672 comes up. So I had to Click Hp in the list then I click HP PhotoSmart P1000 Gimp-Print.
On Hp I went and plugged the printer in
    Went to "Control Panel"
    Printer's and Fax
Went to the side panel Clicked "Add Pinter"
Went through the setup and had to put the disc in.
Software came up as "HP PhotoSmart C3100 Series"
    then downloaded "Bonjour for Windows"
Plugged in the Printer into My Airport Extreme/with Built in Dial-up-Modem
Then opened up Bonjour went through the setup
Print using "HP PhotoSmart C3100 Series"
Then Deleted the USB HP PhotoSmart C3135
And kept the Bonjour HP PhotoSmart C3135
Well I had to do it this way because the "Bonjour" printer list did not have the hp driver.
Does Anyone know how to add the "HP PhotoSmart C3100 Series" Driver to the Mac list.
    Please Help

    I gave up for now

  • WRT54G no internet conn through wireless computer

Hi, I own 2 computers. One is plugged straight in to the router, the other is wireless. All was fine until i either uninstalled somthing on my wireless computer (not sure). I pressed the button on the left of the router until it blinked white then let it search for wireless connection. It found the computer but when I look at the connection it says Im connected to the router but not to the internet. The Cisco systems button is solid white now and I beleive it used to be orange. My wired computer connects fine. The wireless computer has an X saying no network conn. I dont know if its the router or computer. I did a run, cmd, ipconfig and it says somthing like no media or somthing and doesnt give me an IP address. I think this where Im having my trouble but dont know how to fix it. I cant release and re assign an adress. It wont let me. Please help
    Mick

The problem was DUE to you accidentally pressing the CISCO button. That is actually called the SES button whose function is create a randomly generated wireless network with a randomly generated wireless password or key... if this is white... this means it's active and that your previous wireless network name and settings whatever they were, are gone and replaced with randomly generated ones.
Solution here can be using a PC hardwired to the router and with this PC, edit the newly made wireless settings back into your previous wireless settings. To do that, open up internet explorer and type on the address bar the numbers 192.168.1.1 (username just leave it blank, password as a default is admin)... then go to the wireless tab and edit all the necessary settings there...
