Wireless printing problem

I have wireless printing issues. Here is the setup. I have a desktop pc (windows xp) with a wireless router. I had an HP printer connected to the pc and had a pc laptop and mac laptop with wireless cards for internet access and sharing the printer with the desktop pc. All was going well. I bought a new imac intel core duo and got a canon ip4200 for free. I replaced the HP printer with the canon which is now connnected via USB to the desktop pc. The pc desktop prints fine. The new imac connects to the internet wirelessly, no problem, but will not print correctly. At first, after selecting the canon printer on the imac it would print a document in a very small font in the upper left corner of the paper. After downloading new drivers, tech support, etc it will not work at all. Canon says that the ip4200 is not a "network printer". Is there any way to make this work without changing my whole setup? I am a computer novice!

I had similar problems setting up a printer on my iMac that was hung off a windows PC. I ran 'Bonjour' on the PC and set the iMac up again and all worked fine after that.
Worth a try.

  • C4580 Wireless Printing Problem

We purchased a C4580 a few months ago and successfully installed it into our home network.  We eventually had to replace the printer cartridges and went with the high-capacity HP cartridges - then we noticed a problem.  Every time we print out a test page on the printer, it is perfect; however, every time we submit a print job wirelessly the page is a mess!  The wireless print jobs are full of gaps, incompletely printed lines, and doubly printed letters.  AARRGGHH!!!  I am thinking of loading an SD card with a print job, inserting it into the printer and seeing if that will work.  I have updated all software and have had no luck so far in overcoming this wireless print problem - any suggestions?

I was going to lead you to this page to download and install the Full Feature driver.  I also noticed that there are quite a few updates for the software and printer on the same page.
I still think you should install the full featured driver, but if it persists, try some of the updates?

  • Leopard 10.5.6 and HP Wireless printing problem

I have a client with a iMac 20" model, shes been having problems with her HP wireless printer for a while now (Photosmart 7280), its setup with static IP, installing the HP software, it can sense the printer, both Bonjour and IP, but when come to printing, it will start the queue as you would expect, but on the printer it simply display 'Printing' and thats it, it just sits there doing nothing else, you cant even cancel the printing, thinking its a fault with the printer, we went out and got her the latest HP Photosmart 8180, guess what ? it does the same thing.
I searched through HP forum, and people are blaming OSX that after 10.5.1 it broke the wireless printing, because I recalled that her old Macbook running tiger never had this problem with the old 7280 printer (sadly its been upgraded to the latest Leopard before Xmas)
With the new 8180 , I use my Notebook running XP Pro and connected to it wireless and printed first time, so the problem does seem like its coming from OSX Leopard, but sadly I cant find a solution, I posted twice on their messageboard but not a single reply after 2 months, so I am hoping that some experts here may have a solution or workaround to this.

    dimsumbox,
I am probably having the same issue as you are. The "HP IP Printing" is not listed in the drop-down menu under "More Printers". As such, attempting to print over the wireless is not working.
Using a wired connection, and selecting "Default" I am able to add the printer and print to it.
On a home network, you may see the printer under "Default". Unfortunately for me, my wired and wireless networks are separate and this option does not work for me.
The printer in question is a Color LaserJet 3500n, and I'm attempting to locate how I can add the "HP IP Printing" option without reinstalling the entire system.

  • Wireless printing problem in home network officejet 6700

    3. My printer is connected to my house's wireless network and has accessibility to the internet, but when I try wireless printing from my iphone, ipad or macbook pro the printer "can not be seen". Saying " no air printers available".
But if i unplug the printer's power and plug it back in, when it just gets connected to the wireless network again I am able to "see" the printer for a brief moment and thus I'm able to print. But a little while later disappears again.

  • Solution to Ipad/ Airprint wireless printing problems

I recently spent several hours trying unsuccessfully to get my ipad mini, IOS7.1, to print to an HP7525 printer using the airprint feature built into both units. I tried every trick offered on many Apple and HP forums but to no avail. I then discovered that my router, an ASUS RT-N1 3U does not properly support the Bonjour packet protocols which are essential to Airprint. So I bought a new router, the Canadian D-Link AC1200 (model DIR-860L), hoping it would solve the problem. It worked like a charm instantly. The Bonjour printer wizard now had the HP7525 in its list of printers and my IPAD mini could now print my Foreflight aviation charts, as well as anything else. It also seems to have solved another HP7525 problem whereby the wireless link goes down after 5 minutes and the printer has to be rebooted every time you want to print something. The link now stays up permanently!. I just hope my good fortune in solving these problems can be of use to others.
My PC operating sysem is WIN 7 64 bit.

These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keep wireless devices better connected and make your router secure and hack proof.
    1. Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).
This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers.  Verify your DHCP range and change this
first if needed.  More Wireless Printing help is here.
    2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click  Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer
        Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).
In the router:  (Refer to your router manual for information)
    3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
    4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
    5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
    6. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security.  Nobody can hack your
system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
    7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
    8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 2 mins.  Power on router wait 2 mins.
    9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) / Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.

  • Canon Pixma MP500 wireless printing problem

I've got this USB printer connected to an Airport Extreme base station. Wireless printing used to work fine, but doesn't anymore. I ensured that printer sharing is set in the Airport admin utility. Yesterday I spent about 30 minutes with a guy from AppleCare trying to troubleshoot this issue to no avail. Printing works fine if I plug the USB cable into the Powerbook. I'm using Canon-supplied drivers. But that was also the case when wireless printing used to work. So this problem is a bit strange and frustrating.
My guess is that some security update or change in the OS is causing the problem. The Apple guy agreed, though he had no idea as to what the specific issue might be. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rich
    PowerBook G4 15 1.67GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hello Rich, Phil and Dave,
I'll see if I can offer some advice to you all...
    Rich,
Okay, first of all I want to check what you see in the Printer Browser > Default Browser. Under the heading Printer Name should be Canon MP500 and under the heading Connection should be Bonjour. If you select the printer, the Name, Location and Print Using should be automatically populated (Print Using should show Canon IJ Printer). Do you get this?
If you do and can add the printer, then what happens when you attempt to print something?
    Phil,
The -9672 is usually caused by the printer reporting it is a different model to the selected driver. Picking a different printer from the list of Canon's doesn't always work, as there is often control information in the driver comms that are specific for a model (otherwise you could have one driver for every printer). You should try running the Repair Permissions option in Disk Utility. Updates sometimes set some values back to system defaults, which can impact the ability of Mac to correctly identify a peripheral such as a printer.
    Dave the drummer,
Do you notice the Airport signal strength when the printing fails? I have seen some printing fail like you describe when the signal drops too low. Is your wife's iBook located closer to the Airport than your PBG4?
Also, I would try running the Repair Permissions option in Disk Utility.

    Paul

    Hi SharonCracknell,
I'm sorry to hear that your are having issues connecting your Deskjet 3650 printer to your new Vodafone wireless network.
I have included a link to HP's Wireless Printing Center.  Under Section A, 'Your printer was working over the network before, and now isn't' there is a sub-section titled 'Was anything changed or updated on your wireless router recently?'.  In the sub-section there are detailed steps to take when you have changed your wireless router.

  • Wireless printing problems with Canon iP4300, but USB printing ok

My MacBook Pro is setup for wireless printing with a printer(Canon Pixma iP4300) connected to my other PC Desktop. The only problem is that when I print anything all the text and images are miniaturized and squished about a quarter of a page large into the upper left corner of an 8.5x11 paper. I installed all the programs that came with the printer installation disk and when I connect my MacBook directly to the printer via USB everything prints out just fine.
I suspect the problem is with the selection of printer model when you go to "Printer Setup" in System Preferences. The existing list of Canon printer models given to me by the computer does not contain anything specific for my iP4300. I simply chose the option "BJC 4300 Gimp-Print v.5.0.0-beta 2". Does anyone know of a way where I could add to that list of printer models or is there another way to get my wireless printing to work normally? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I have the same printer and network printing is a pain. Canon decided not to include a network specific driver for this printer.
You can try getting the latest version of the gimp-print drivers. The latest version has better support for ip4300. If it's worth it to you, PrintFab drivers have been working for me but PrintFab isn't free.
The latest Gimp-print (Gutenprint) drivers are here: http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3
    Hope that helps.

  • Wireless Printing Problems

    Hi
I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro connected to an Asus RT-N13U wireless router. I have a Canon Pixma MP210 printer that I have tried to setup for wireless printing via the USB port in the router. I thought I had it sorted as the printer will print a test page. However, when I try to print a document, the print queue just says "copying print data" and will go no further.
I'm using Mac OS X v10.7.2 and the Canon printer driver is v2.7 (this driver recently downloaded via the Apple software update, but the same problems occurred with v2.6 too). When I set up the printer, I click + in the Print & Scan window of system preferences, select IP and then the following:
Protocol - Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Address - IP address of router
    Queue - LPRServer
I then enter a name and location and then from "Print Using" I choose "select printer software" and then select the entry for my printer as named above and click ok.
If I then print a test page, it works, but as I say, any "normal" document won't.
If I try auto-select at the Print Using stage, it auto-selects "Generic PostScript Printer" and the message this time when I try to print is that the printer is busy (rather than copying data). There's no option with this driver to print a test page.
Finally, when I log on to my router, the network map shows my printer is present with text stating the printer name (even before I've added it as a printer on my mac - so something somewhere is recognising it) and "Enabled".
Any thoughts on how to make this work? Or should I just get used to getting up of the sofa and plugging in a USB cable?
    Thanks

When you have a Canon inkjet printer connected to the USB port of a router, print server or shared via Windows, you cannot use the Canon provided driver. For these types of connections you need to use a driver that is designed to work, such as those from Gutenprint or PrintFab. Gutenprint is preferred because it is free, however looking at the supported models list for the latest version of Gutenprint, the MP210 is not listed as a supported model. So you could try using one of the other Canon-Gutenprint models, such as the MP150. If you are not able to find a compatible Gutenprint driver for the MP210 then you may have to go down the Printfab path. This software suite does cost €49 but at least it lists the MP210 as a supported printer.

  • HP Photosmart 2610xi wireless printing problem

I have a HP Photosmart 2610 xi  All-In-One printer that networks through a Netgear 600 Router for Macs.  I have had the printer connected to the router through a USB cable connection versus Ethernet and it had worked very nicely for a long time.
We have had a couple of days where the power to our house has gone on and off several times. After this, my IMac first and then my MacBook Pro laptop will not print wirelessly to this printer w/o printing page after page of a 2-line computer code of gobbledygook. The OS is OS 10.9.1. I have to cancel printing to stop it going through lots of paper. The printer will print if directly connected to a computer and my computer still wirelessly prints fine to a Canon airprint printer.
I have noticed that an older MacBook Pro laptop with an older version of OS 10 will print wirelessly without this problem, so it looks like a potential problem with the newest OS version and the printer.
How do I solve this problem? I'd like to use this printer wirelessly as I did before. I have tried to troubleshoot this and not luck with my efforts.  Thanks for any help.

I believe that the only way that you can use the scanner without bonjour is by connecting it to your computer through a USB connection instead of a network connection.

  • Remote wireless printing problem

Using Officejet 4500 Wireless printer and Mac running Lion. Printer works great on network. I was told that I could print to my new printer "from Grandma's house", but I fail to understand how. If this is possible, could someone explain to me how?

The HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer Series (G510) is not ePrint enabled. ePrint would allow you to print "from Grandma's house".  With the Officejet 4500, the only smartphone printing you can do would be with the HP ePrint Home & Biz app available for iPhone and Android phones.  You can learn more at:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01930282&lc=en&cc=us&destPage=document&dlc=en&j...

  • Wireless printing problem with HP Envy all-in-one 110 when running Mac OS 10.7

I just bought the HP Envy all-in-one 110. I have a Macbook Air running IS 10.7. I managed to install the software correctly and the wirless network light is showing on the printer. I ran a test page from the printer and all the settings say they are "enabled." But I still can't get the printer to print over the wireless network. When I plugged in a USB cable, I managed to get it to print. I have a wireless router running over the Sonic.net DSL network. Network strength is good. I've switched off and restarted all equipment several times but still no results. Help!

    Hi,
I believe the router may not support Multicasting, a network protocol used for Apple's Bonjour service to operate as it should.
Will be helpful to know the exact router brand and model.
As a workaroung, you may try setting the printer by using standard IP, it should allow you to print, however the router issue (more likely) have to be handled first to allow the full software functionality including scanning.
Follow the steps below to set an IP print queue, it will also help to better understand the cause for the problem:
Enter System Preferences > Print & Scan.
    Click the plus sign.
    Click the IP icon.
Select the HP Jetdirect Socket protocol.
Enter the printer IP address into the Address field
Now try printing using the newly created print queue, listed as the printer IP address.
