Wireless Router wrt120n - Cannot get to Administrative website 192.168.1.1
Hello, I've tried everything I know to do to get to the website but no luck as of yet. I began to upgrade my firmware but i was told that i have to be in the administrative tool to do so. HELP!
First, make sure you are connected directly to the router itself via network cable (e.g. Cat5). Don't attempt the firmware upgrade over wireless!
If you are using Windows, you can open a command prompt (Start menu, run CMD), then type in IPCONFIG. Look for an item that shows your Default Gateway. That will be the IP address you need to access the WRT120N.
When you have access to the log-in page, leave the username field blank and use "admin" as the password. You should then have access to the Administration section of the router.

I just installed a new router and cannot connect with my ipad now. I have no idea what settings I shold be looking at or how to do this
you likely need to setup your router using an eathernet cable and a computer to turn on the wifi part and set an encryption level and password or the likes
if you havent do such things before you may require help from somebody who have
the router likely comes with an instruction manual how you set it up the first time -
WRT54G v.1.1 can't get on my interface "192.168.1.1"
Hello, I'm having problems getting into my user interface, and I can't get on any website with my router connected, I try using 192.168.1.1 on internet i.e. and firebox. I also got my default IP through, ipconfig/ all and that did not work, I also try to renewed my IP with ipconfig/renew, no go. All my connections are the way they should be, I even try connecting my router by itself to my PC change the IP address and nothing. Can't someone please help, my router was working when I first plug it but I forgot my wep security and press the reset button on the back and that's when everything started to fail..............
As you want to Upgrade your router's firmware you can try the TFTP Utility...
Download TFTP Utility 36.0 KB...
Download Firmware 2.95 MB...
Double click the TFTP.exe file and click run :
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned. By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
Click Upgrade button to start upgrading. A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router... -
After a while, cannot connect to WRT320N through 192.168.1.1
I have a WRT320N with latest firmware 1.0.03.
Everything works OK other than the fact that after a while (hours / days) I cannot connect to the router through http://192.168.1.1 but I have connection to the internet though. If I restart the router, I cannot connect to it but after a while I can't do it again. When I try, browser stays for minutes and eventually gives me the "Page not found error". This is happening from any computer (I have 4 computers wired and 2 wireless). The wired computers are connected through a GbLan switch and they have different OS: Vista(x64), XP(x86), Windows Server 2003 (x86) and Windows Server 2008 (x64). The 2 computers wireless connected are Windows 7 (x86) and Windows 2000. From all of them I have the same problem and after restarting the router I can connect again from any.
This behavior had been in place from the beginning but not being under pressure because I rarely have to change something in router's settings, I did not report it in time and now it seems is out of warranty.
My question is if this is something that happened to others (but I was not able to find any similar reports) or is it something wrong with my router? As I said before, other than that, router is functioning without any issues.
Thank-youIs someone using bittorrent or any p2p software? p2p software, downloading using torrent opens a lot of TCP port, hogging the router's resources. Thus, accessing the router's gui is sluggish or not even opening up.
Upgrade the router's firmware. -
Connected to router but cannot get on the internet
Hi,
I have connected my sons laptop to home hub 3 and it is showing connected to router but when we try to connect toonternet we get error message, have tried connecting to lots of different web pages without any joy.
Laptop will connectto other wireless when we are not at home. Really not sure where we are going wrong.
Can anyone help?
ThanksCouple of things to check:
1) Are you using the wireless passkey that is on the Homehub label to log on with?
2) It could be that your computer has IPv6 selected. Try disconnecting it as follows:
Select Start
In the search field type.ncpa.cpl and press enter.
In the new window right click on your wireless network connection and select properties
In “This connection uses the following items” section remove the tick beside Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) then press OK
Left click on Internet Protocol IPv4, click properties . Check the options to obtain IP addres and DNS server address automatically.
Once done try and connect to internet. -
EA3500 Phones can connect to wireless router, but cannot transfer data
Ok, Since Cisco is completely helpless on helping me (this is why we are switching from Cisco stuff to other brands like Aruba at my work) I was thinking you guys would help me. I got hanged up twice on this problem. TWICE.
So, my phone and my friends phones can connect to the wifi but I cannot receive nor send data from it. The phones work completely fine elsewhere. Here is the kicker, my computer works completely OK on the router and my phone used to work for 3-4 hours before this issue started going again. Now it is constantly. I restarted the modem, default reset it and still nothing. I get an IP address too and it stays connected. Any help. Cisco thinks its the phone, but its multiple phones that are having the problem and my phone and other works completely fine at other places. The quickest way to get your phones working is to configure them staticly. More than likely........either your modem, your firewall, your router, or your ISP is blocking the proxy. Try using Google Public DNS. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Disable any proxy blocking features of your modem or firewall.
Sometimes simply changing the DNS on your router to Google Public DNS might fix the problem.

Hello,
I am attempting to set up three Cisco 1242AG Wireless Access Points with multiple SSID's. I used the web interface and directions online to set up the two networks I want and at least one of the networks work wirelessly.
However, I have two problems:
The first, which is the most important, is that the "management" interface, BVI1, doesn't get an ip address from our DHCP server. I set the VLAN 60 (which you'll see in the documenation below) to be the native VLAN on the device as well as on the switch that the device is connected to as well as other settings in the configeration file below. Because of this, I can only manage the device via the console port which would be a huge pain once all of the devices are mounted.
The second problem is that I am not sure how to get both wireless networks broadcasting their SSID's. I have to manually type in the SSID for the second wireless network I have which I would prefer I don't have to. Anyway I can enable broadcasting on all of the SSID's?
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Christopher Koeber

endI am using a third party DHCP server which is our Windows Domain Controller. I have the ip helper-address set for the native vlan of the Access Point through a layer 3 distribution switch (a Catalyst 4506) that the current switch connects to.
I didn't see any event on the logs for the AP.
Let me know if I need to do something else.
Thanks. -
Which wireless router should i get?
I have a Airport Express that I am thinking about replacing. My wife's white macbook keeps dropping signal, while my black macbook is fine. I thought it was a problem with her computer but then we went on vactaion and the whole time we were there her computer never lost signal. Also I want to connect a wireless transmitter to the router for my Dish Network so I need a ethernet port. On my network I am running:
Imac (intel)
2 Mackbooks
2 Iphones
1 Ipad
Apple TV
PS3
Dish Network Transmitter
I would like something that runs both bands simultaniously. I know that the Airport extreme would work for me but I am wondering it there is something better out there. Are all Airport Express base stations dual band? Our network seems to be running kind of slow.
Thanks
JeremyHi J Hensel,
The Airport Extreme and Time Capsule are the only routers made by apple which run on simultaneous dual-band networks. It's a brilliant concept, essentially two wireless networks are broadcast at the same time to provide 802.11n speeds for capable devices, and 802.11b/g to devices still running on that protocol.
The Airport Express are what Apple calls "dual-band capable". This makes them a great addition to any network and a perfect companion for proximal devices. Dual-band capable allows it to run either N or B/G networks. So if you have 4 802.11n devices on your network they will all benefit from the faster speeds and better range. If one B/G device tries to connect to the router, it will intelligently switch its broadcast mode to B/G. This seamless transition allows all of your devices to connect effortlessly, however it will mean the great range you experienced browsing on N capable devices will be retrograded to B/G standards.
I have no problem recommending an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule, I imagine it will meet all of your needs and then some!
Another important thing to note is Airport Express can only support up to 10 devices at a time, whereas you'll find the airport extreme can support up to 50!
The fact you have 9 devices on your current network might be the root of your particular issue.
Hope this is helpful for you.
Cheers,
Ajb. -

I read a lot of posts from people who were trying to get a version of IE for Macs. That sounded pretty chancey so I tried to download Firefox for Mac. That took me forever because after I downloaded it I couldn't find it. When I finally found it and went back to Consumer Reports, I was able to sign in.
