Wish list / Bugs for E61 Firmware......

hi, just trying to see if this is a good way to feedback to nokia.....Feel free to endorse or add to the list....hehe
Wish List
1. A2DP
2. Sip can use access point group
3. Time of SMS to show sender sending time instead of receiving time.
4. Can choose to search by 1st char of name in contacts
Bugs
1.

I just got my new E-61 yesterday. It still on ver 1 firmware. I bought it on ebay India, its product code is 0530151 (which I believe is a "Euro Silver"). Its a made in Finland piece having "english" and "nederlands" as the two languages. NSU shows updates available but I am scared to death to try that out (all those KB remapping issue scare me) and so I will wait till I am comfortable with the phone.
I notice a few bugs already
1) I made a new profile but if I chose it instead of General, I lose out on having the date in Active Standby page. Considering that there are acres of unused space, its strange that Nokia will do it by design.
2) The voice recorder button is very easy to press by mistake and there seem no way to stop these accidental recordings.
3) If I chose Tools-Setting-Network-Cell Info Display as "ON", I am supposed to get my carrier supplied location text on the screen but it comes momentarily and then gets hidden due to the fact that bluetooth icon obscures it. Even if I keep bluetooth OFF, it still shows cell info part only momentarily. This looks like a bug to me.
4) WLAN and GPRS connection don't close when I close the Nokia browser. Is this by design? In my earlier 6670 I was using Opera and there when I used to exit the connection will close automatically.

• Wish List Updates for Snow Leopard

If you support any of the following, please send them to Apple's suggestion box.
I would like Apple to offer the following settings, preferably without third party fixes. HOWEVER, feel free to respond with your favorite work-around solutions. I need to learn Terminal!
1. Safari - close download window upon completion
2. Safari - remove ALL cookies and cached items when "resetting" same. There are always a select few that have to be manually deleted
3. Safari - have a built in video downloader/converter - Yes there are good third party solutions for this
4. Safari - allow Private Viewing as a default option
1.Pointer options - Create an option in preferences to enable the pointer to automatically go the default option selection (as is possible in that "other" operating system. You know, the one that pirated the window concept)
1. Apple mail - #1 request is identify a way to allow the numerous superior email clients interface as seamlessly with other native apps.
2. Apple mail - short of that, create a setting to turn off or allow a time setting to override an email automatically being marked as read if it happens to be highlighted with you open the app, thereby appearing in the preview pane. Appearing in the preview pane does not mean I have read it.
3. Apple mail - provide an option for creating return receipts requests
4. Apple mail - What it that box that appears around blocks of text in received mail that makes editing more difficult than it should be
5. Apple mail - Provide a tool to apply the formatting to other parts of the email (sort of like the paint brush tool in that OS with the "W" word)
6. Apple mail - If I label a sender as "not-junk" do not put label mail from this sender as Junk. I do not want all senders in my address book.
7. Apple mail - If I label a sender as "JUNK" future mail from this sender should also be JUNK, no?
8. Apple mail - Create a rule that allows "Bounce" as an option
1. iPhoto - I know I must be missing something here, so please chime in -
How or what can I do to save photos into iPhoto when I am not using iPhoto. The most common annoyance for me is saving photos off email attachment or from the web. There MUST be something I am doing wrong. Where is the "Save to iPhoto Library" option?
1. QuickTime - Please bring back QT Player 7!!!
12. I know we mustn’t use "other" browsers, but in those rare events that it happens - how nice would it be to have a native bookmark sync option or common folder?
13. Finder - allow more columns in the viewing options for Spotlight
Please feel free to add to the list.

So may words, so little help. You do realize that they call this a Support Community, right?
1. Safari - close download window upon completion
Mine already does this, and I'm sure you can do it in Snow Leopard, too.
When you refer to "mine," what OS are you referring to? Are you willing to share your knowledge on where I might find this capability?
3. Safari - have a built in video downloader/converter - Yes there are good third party solutions for this
That's not the job of a browser, and it's not going to happen. Keep dreaming.
Thanks again for the helpful advice. I am impressed with our willingness to help.
4. Safari - allow Private Viewing as a default option
You can turn it on yourself. There's also AppleScript, or assigning a keyboard shortcut.
I am very aware of how to turn it on. I would prefer to leave it on by default. Care to share your AppleScript knowledge?
Apple mail - provide an option for creating return receipts requests
It's been there for years—where have you been?
Thanks again for the poweruser tip, very helpful.
1. Apple mail - #1 request is identify a way to allow the numerous superior email clients interface as seamlessly with other native apps.
That's entirely your opinion, which isn't shared by the vast majority of Mac users.
I am sorry I do not share you opinion, nor did I know you speak for the majority of Mac users. Perhaps with your superior guidance I would become a power user too?
Where is the "Save to iPhoto Library" option?
Have you tried looking at the options given to you when you receive email with attachments? There's a Save button in the Header section that gives you the option to save the image to iPhoto.
And how does this sugggestion help when downloading a photo from the web?
Perhaps if you spent time getting to know your Mac and OS X, you'd find that there aren't nearly as many "issues" as you seem to imagine.
Yes, and I perhaps if you would share a bit of your superior knowledge I would agree. That was my hope in posting to a "support community." You put a fair amount of effort into your criticism. Just "imagnie..."

• Where are my missing wish list items for music?

For some reason I cannot find my entire wish list. I haven't checked all the applications but my music library is missing many wish list items I had saved to my account. I can remember some of them but I was really looking forward to saving all my interests in my account and now many of them are gone. Is there anyway to get them back?

But I'm digging around inside the package and still puzzled -- images inside the folder Aperture Library.aplibrary -> Masters -> 2009 -> 06 -> 14 -> 20090614-214439/ were indeed shot on June 14, 2009. So it appears that those various level folder names reflect image creation date, not the import date.
Joe,
these various level folder names reflect what Aperture thinks are the import dates.
The "Import Session" is one of the Aperture specific Metadata tags. You can display it in the Info/Metadata pane of the Inspector Panel, if you add it to one of the presets, and then you'll know, where to search, if you absolutely must to sleep well .
You can also use this tag to search or to define a smart album. For example, the image below has been captured in 2003, but was imported in 2010, and will be found in a 2010 folder.

• Wish list entry for CASE designers/manufacturers

I want a clear plexi sturdy case (like the xtrememac cases for iPods) that I don't have to remove to be able to put my iPhone into the dock. Come on folks, it can be done. It is possible to design something like that. All the nice plexi cases on the market thus far - the thinnest ones - still don't allow user to put phone into the nice little desk dock and at least for my hands, it is way too difficult to take the case off of the iPhone every time I want to put it into the dock. As a matter of fact, I gave up trying to remove the Belkin clear plexi case I have on my iPhone right now. Trying to remove it just exhausted me. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

• Spatial Wish List for 2015...

Here are my top two spatial wish list candidates for 2015. Feel free to join in!
#1. Allow DBAs to create and rebuild spatial indexes in any schema (as long as you have create any index rights), as you can with any other index type.
Currently, even with ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=theowner; you cannot do this as SYS. As a DBA do not want to know / maintain all these schema owner passwords. Using the hash / resetting password process can work, but is a pain when you need to do a large number of user/schemas.
#2. Reduce spatial index creation / rebuild times.
Using current map reduce techniques, R-Tree index creation times have shown a great decrease in other environments. It would be VERY helpful if a future version of Oracle also followed these techniques so that all system resources can be applied to the creation / rebuild, instead of the essentially serial process that currently exists. I.E.: Parallel bulk-loading of spatial data with MapReduce: An R-tree case - Springer
Bryan

Hi Bryan,
Nice idea. Maybe it will achieve something, maybe not, but at least we've tried
@Paul: We are. But there are also some Oracle folks on here, so maybe we are being heard.
What I would like to see is even more integration. At the moment there still are a lot of exceptions for spatial data (try creating a spatial index without the privilege to create a sequence, for example). All those MDRT tables as well: I understand that they are necessary, but could they please be hidden somehow? Don't get me wrong, I still think Oracle has one of the best and most elegant solutions for storing spatial data ( and has had for the past decade really), but there still are enough differences between spatial and "normal" data that it takes quite a lot of extra knowledge to be able to deal with it properly. Which is not necessarily a bad thing by the way, but it can be aggravating at times.
Secondly: There still are quite a few spatial functions that are in Java. I can understand that it is easier that way, but it does impact performance. If all of the spatial functions could be moved closer to the core, it would be easier for us to achieve great performance (because it would be much more under our own control).
There's a ton of other things that I would like, but these two touch the core. Everything else is either laziness or being a kid in a candy store
Happy holidays everyone,

• Wish list for iPad films

Is it possible to have an 'add to wish list' button for films on the iPad? I search through films and would love to add a range of films to a wish list so I can download them when I have a fast broadband connection. Thanks

It isn't possible at the moment (I'm not sure that anything related to wish lists is currently possible on the iPad) : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

• Wish Lists

First off nice job Apple, glad to see the store up and running. The one thing that has bugged me in most of the apple stores (iPhone, iPad and now app store) however is the lack of wish lists. They exist within iTunes on the desktop but there is no other way to get to it.
With both my developer and customer hats on I can see a big benefit in being able to add an app to a wish list when you are almost but not quite ready to press the buy button. As things stand today, there is nowhere to capture that list of "maybes".

FYI The iTunes Store has a wish list (look for the Quick Links on the right side of the home page)... you can add an item by (carefully) selecting the down-arrow next to the price and Add To Wish List etc. The only features from iTunes that are currently in the App Store are Copy Link and Tell A Friend, but this is a ".0" release so I assume Apple will rev the App Store to get similar features in the App Store.

• App Wish List

Is there a way to view my Wish List, specifically for Apps, on my iPad or iPhone? I can't view it in the App Store app or the iTunes app on either device. Would think it would be a good idea.

Well, wish list communications with Apple is done via the iPhone feedback page, http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Wish lists for developers would be different. Since they are outside companies that develop the apps, I would think you might be able to choose one of the others ones that supply the performance information and let them know what you are thinking.

-->Review/”wish-list” for JavaFX/NetBeans
The following “wish-list” for JavaFX (1.1) and NetBeans (1.5), was made based on my experience doing three - smaller - projects in JavaFX. I plan to submit these projects (“DestroyerFX”, “AceOfSpadeFX” and “SteamPunkWatch”) to the “JavaFX Coding Challenge” (see “http://www.javafx.com/challenge/”):
- a ”recreate”-method for “CustomNodes” in style of the ”repaint”-method of ”java.awt.Component”. Should force the (re)call of “create”-
method of a “CustomNode”-objects (normally “create” is only called once – the first time the “CustomNode” is drawn).
Useful for “CustomNodes” changing their graphical expression over time, other than what may be expressed by using transformations.
Solutions to the problem (using the existing system) could be:
- reconstruct “CustomNode”'s for each iteration, or when they need to change their graphics. This would force a (re)call to the “create”-
method
- using a “Group” (or “Sequence”) to group different graphical representations/”Nodes”. The “visible”-attributes are manipulated to change
between different representations
- better support in NetBeans for export of projects as executable JAR-files. Useful for people wanting to distribute their application more in
the style of traditional applications
- default-values “http://localhost:8082/servlet/...” in generated *.jnlp files (by NetBeans) should be changed to relative-path “file:.”. This would
make distribution of projects easier.
I don't know if this already is possible in present system, by for instance setting up NetBeans
- merge of Java and JavaFX (-script language). Basically features of JavaFX should be included in Java.
For object-construction-syntax, I suggest some thing like:
(new) MyClass(parm1,parm2, ...) {
attr1: ...,
attr2: ...,
i.e. first the normal Java-constructor is called, hereafter attributes are assigned in JavaFX-style.
JavaFX “bindings” could be a good alternative to “Beans Bindings” (JSR 295).
I think both technologies (object-construction and bindings), would be a great addition to the Java-language, and could prove useful in other
areas than just GUI's.
The JavaFX API should further be accessible from Java
- having a project of mixed Java- and JavaFX-files, I wasn't able to “see” JavaFX-files from Java-files in NetBeans. It would be nice to be able
to do this, since I still consider Java as a better general-purpose language (for larger projects); and people might have older Java-code they
may want to incorporate in their JavaFX-projects. I think, I recall some forums talk about this topic, but the solution isn't obvious anyway
- problems playing sound-clips with the JavaFX “MediaPlayer” (multiple clips are played at the same time in my application). According to
forums, this could be due to the sound-files being placed in JAR-files.
In my projects I “cheated” by using the JavaSE-primtives for this (“javax.sound.sampled”). It would be nice if this could be fixed
- in one of my applications (“DestroyerFX”), I wanted to use dynamic binding of the “Scene” of the central “Stage”-object, allowing the
application to switch between a number of difference “Scene”'s according to functionality and context (“introduction”, “level-up”, actual game
and “final score”). When running the application as a web-browser applet, this approach didn't seem to work (the application was stuck on
first shown “Scene”). I recall some forums-posts discussing this.
My solution to the problem was to reformulate the difference “Scene”-objects to “Group”-objects, swifting between the different
“Scene”/”Group”'s by manipulating their “visible”-attribute.
A performance problem was discovered in a “Group” having a “content” consistent of “Sequences” with dynamic changing content. I solved
this by extracting the “Sequences” from the group, making them “first-generation” children of the “Stage”, i.e. going from:
var grp1 : Group = Group {
content: [ seq1, seq2, ...],
var grp2 : Group = Group { ... };
var actualGroup : Group = ...;
Stage {
scene: Scene {
content: bind [ actualGroup],
... to:
var grp1 : Group = Group {
content: [ ...],
var grp2 : Group = Group { ... };
var actualGroup : Group = ...;
Stage {
scene: Scene {
content: bind [ seq1, seq2, actualGroup],
With the critics giving, I owe people to say that my overall impression of the JavaFX-system (and NetBeans) has been very positive and
satisfying. I hope for future development and deployment on diverse platform of the system.
Fell free to comment, give solutions to problems and make new “wishes”.

Review/”wish-list” for JavaFX/NetBeans

• PSE wish list - Auto stacking RAW + JPGs

I'm using PSE V10 and have a 'wish list' item for suggested improvements to the program.
A feature that would be extremely valuable to many users would be the ability to auto stack photos where there are the RAW + JPG images present in the Catalog. The JPG would end up on top of the stack.
This can be done manually but is tedious when there are many photos to deal with. Failing an automatic feature a single action shortcut to access the 'Stack | Stack selected photos' command would be useful.
a forum discussion on this topic is here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4585792#4585792

As reported above I THOUGHT I'd found a shortcut suitable for stacking a JPG over a RAW.
However, the stack command in the main menu, which has the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+S will stack the RAW over the JPG whenever the RAW thumbnail is ahead of the JPG in the Catalog. I want the reverse to happen.
I found I can get the JPG to stack over a RAW, if the RAW appears before the JPG, by selecting the RAW first then with the Ctrl button down select the JPG. Then using 'Stack | Stack selected photos' in the mouse right click menu. However, this fails when using Ctrl+Alt+S whenever the RAW is listed before the JPG. Am I missing something?

• Pre + Wish List: My first 6 suggestions

I have been using my Verizon Pre + for a couple of months and some things have moved up on my wish list. For starters:
1. keyboard control to delete moving forward as well as backward. For example [orange key (now gray)] + [<- ]
2. keyboard control to move cursor through a message?
3. An inline search capability for emails and especially for websites.
4. Sticky thumb... That is suppose you could put your thumb on a webpage or other screen (such as the launcher) and hold it still while doing something else.
5. Double tap to run apps. Some things work too fast and I find I am opening up apps I don't want by accident.
6. A real predictive spell checker. (Meanwhile thanks, Rick, for ACE]
That's it for tonight, but there will be more.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Great suggestions but your Pre can do a couple things you listed.
#2 - The device can move through a message. You hold down the option key (blank button below the letter "A") and start moving your finger on the touchscreen while in a text field. It will start moving like a cursor for precision. Also, you can highlight for copy and paste by holding the shift key and moving your finger on the screen to highlight text.
#3 - You want the device to do an inline search for emails and websites. Well, it works partially in your favor. The device has a feature called Universal Search that will search for things on your device and the web. It will search for contact records, applications, and if it cannot find a match it allows you to do a google search (or wiki) on what you are looking for. To utilize this feature, just start typing anywhere on the device (except in a text field) and the device will begin searching. For more information please visit learning.palm.com.
#4 - Hold down the option key and click a link or a picture. You will get options to open the page in a new card, download, share, etc.
With the rest of your feature requests or impovements please visit www.palm.com/feedback to post your information there. You may see some of your wishes come true in a later update.
I hope this helps,
-Pat

If anyone knows the link to submit requests, please post it here.
Thanks

I am nor asking for the "email the pdf" option. Just to be able to use MY PDF's with other apps on my iPad.
They just need to do what other apps are already doing. They let you open the PDF files in other apps on the iPad. Nothing new.
An "OPEN IN..." option the list the apps on your iPad to open the PDF's in.

• Mac App Store- Wish List

Apple,
It would be useful to add an option to put apps into a wish list, either for later purchase or for future reference. Often found an app of interest but wanted to come back at a later date to look again, with a wish list or something similar I think people would find the app store that little more friendly could also increase app sales.

Yes, a number of folks have posted this wish for a wish list.

Rolling with my new Z30 and other than a hiccup with the SD card formating all seems good.
So BB, here's my wish list for rush attention to make my new phone a viable business device...
1. Allow deleting emails from the device only! And allow copy of sent email to go to email server.

• Nokia 5230 - Wish List for Next Firmware Upgrade

heya guys,
I'm using Nokia 5230 with the latest firmware, V 12.0.089.
The following are my wish list for the next firmware upgrade:-
1. Messaging > Sent Items: Please include short cut icons to Forward, Create New and Delete as in Inbox.
2. Log > Recent calls: Unnecessary option for Call > Voice Call.
3. Settings > Personal > Themes > Call image > Theme image: A bug with certain 3rd party theme (e.g. JustBlack - 5th theme). During lock mode, screen is totally blank during calls & alarms.
4. Settings > Application mgr. > Installed apps.: Too much application will cause an error of "Application Manager Memory full" and auto exit when selecting "Option". During error, phone memory is around 25MB, Memory Card is around 2.5GB/4GB.
5. Ovi Map > Drive / Walk > Set Destination: Please do an icon based UI for History, Favourite, Search & From Map. The list is to small to click on to (when driving) :-)
6. Organize > Please include multiple selections. E.g. Mark/Unmark > Mark / Mark All. Easy to move multiple applications at once to any folder.
That's all for now i guess. By the way, Nokia rocks!!
Thanks in advanced.

Please integrate swype for messaging in the next firmware of 5230. Also kinetic scrolling for messages and contacts. If possible the homescreen of symbian^3.
