With a Zalman 7000Acu cooler, how high vcore is too high???

I'd like to overclock a little with my Neo2, but since I don't have an accurate temp reading in my bios, it will be tricky.
I have an fx-53 w/zalman cooler and how high can I raise the vcore while still playing it safe...
I was thinking i'll raise it to 1.6v and get the best I can out of that.

Yep I can confirm 1.8v makes a funny smell

  • VCore running too high

My BIOS health reports a good Vcore, 1.5xxx, and an FSB of 200MHz.
However, CoreCenter main screen shows a Vcore of > 1.8V, a CPU temp > 50C and an FSB of 203. I can use the Speedster slideout page to set FSB to 200 and  Vcore to 1.5375, but the main screen still shows the higher VCore. SiSoftware Sandra also reports this as a 'Vcore is higher than max rating....'
What's going on? Which set of values can I trust? I have removed CoreCenter from my Startup group, but can obviously run it from the desktop. I'm not interested in OC too much, but am concerned about the high core and temperature being reported.

Well the Best thing to do in this Case, is to Disregard what the "Core-Center" Monitoring Utility is reporting, as Far as the Temps. go at least.......The Best thing to do is to go into the BIOS, and Set your CPU (FSB) Speed to 201 MHZ, and set your V-CORE to "User-Defined" and set this to 1.550 (Which is Default, but it will remain locked), and then go and Disable, or Keep the Utility from Starting With Windows, or uninstall Core-Center..........And since there has been some Known Issues with "Core-Center" Utility, I would recomend you Download, and Use "Speed-Fan" Monitoring Utility, until they MSI, gets Core-Center, Up and Running  , with no issues ......................Sean REILLY875

  • Vcore is too high against my will and wishes (!)

I mean, It's set to manual in the bios, to around 1.56v, it's set in CoreCenter to the same value, BUT IT NEVER GOES BELOW 1,7v ! it reaches 1,8v - 1,9v sometimes - by itself. I don't think I have to tell you how this affects the temperature of the CPU.
Is this normal with these boards ? Is this fixed in BIOSes later than 1.6 ?
I'd gladly rip this corecell chip out of the board, if I could. It seems to cause more problems than it solves.
Is there any way I can turn it OFF ?

I uninstalled CoreCenter and installed Hmonitor. And It shows that the Vcore and Aux voltages ( what's Aux ? ) gradually rise to some point. Vcore was 1.56 but now it is 1.78, and Aux was 0.98 but now its 1,87. The minimum idle temperature is 45 oC because of this. Does the board automatically change the voltage by itself ?

  • Nfs_write_latency, how high is too high

statistics show-periodic -object volume -instance volume_name -counter nfs_write_latency I am running this command on volumes, and got different values, from 0 us to a few hundreds, How high it is too high, and then we could have performance issue.Anybody please let me know your measurement? • Video bit rate too high - reducing doesn't help

I've not come across this problem before. Now DVDSP tells me my vbr is too high, but reducing it gives me the same message. I'm attempting to put 47mins of SD onto a DVD-R, so not outrageously demanding. I'm not sure where to go from here.

    John Howarth wrote:
My problem is happening on a talking head - there is plenty of movement elsewhere in this movie, and that is all compressing correctly. When I reach this particular clip, which has very little movement, the glitches happen when the guy moves his head. It happens nowhere else in the whole 87 mins, and it happens repeatedly on re-encodes in the same clip - not precisely the same frames, but the same clip. Exporting the clip and its neighbours alone, and compressing it, presents no problem when written to a DVD-R
It is strange, so in other words if Clips A, B, and C are all in one movie from Final Cut then the encode shows the problem in Clip B, let's say, but if you break down each section and drop each encoded clips (A,B,C) on a timeline in DVD SP then it looks okay? You mention that it is not the same frames each time, but are they near where the cuts/changes occur or is it throughot the entire section? Could be the encoder or perhaps the DVD Player is getting tripped up there. I have placed Compression markers in problem areas, even if not scene changes or high movement, to help when I had some ghosting with relatively slow rates of movement. I have not had to do it often, but it helped.
Though I think it is probably not related to the following, how many players have you tried it on and which brand of DVD Media are you using? Do you see the same problem when playing from the hard drive in Apple DVD Player and/or the DVD-R in Apple DVD Player? How are you burning the DVD? Straight from DVD SP or otherwise? (You are using the Universal Binary version of DVD SP and Compressor I take it?)
These problems all occur when using Compressor, at 6.2Mbps preset, with ac3 for the sound. Is that just too high? But then why does the rest of the movie play OK?
It probably is not too high if everything else is okay, and more so it sounds like it is a place where there is not much movement. Moving his head should not throw things that far off. Did you mix clips/camera types in Final Cut? When you say glitches, what is happening, macroblocking, skips in playback, jerky movement? Ghosting?

  • White Levels Too High?

    Hey Everyone:
I am sort of new here, but I have a question. I run a television station and through our broadcast equipment I receive static on some videos I produce that play on a Public Access Channel. In speaking with the cable company we experience problems with they told me that our video levels are too high. The levels are causing static reception on the audio of our video broadcast. It appears that the yellows and whites are causing the most problems. In Final Cut Pro 4.5, I having been playing with the 3-way color corrector and it seems to have calmed down a bit, but I want to eliminate it completely. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want to solve this problem with out sacrificing a lot of the video's quality. I shoot with a Canon GL2 and the video quality is superb. Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Chris Steuber

    Welcome to the forum Christopher,
I'm not an engineer and don't know proper terminology (though I'm quickly learning , but others on this forum may be able to provide better insight...mine may be a bit vague...
Continue to use CC3way, as it gives you the best control over your image levels.
Are you using a Waveform/Vectorscope, either inside FCP or externally. You should use these tools for proper setting of levels. (preferably externally)
Are you using the FCP 'Range Check' function? This will at least signal you that there are luminance or chrominance hot spots.
Ken Stone has some great info about using CC3way.
One additional thing to consider is the hardware that is in play regarding the distribution of your signal.
I've worked with our local Government Access and Public Access channels (on Adelphia Cable locally) and some of these issues had to be addressed at the head end and some at our end of the signal flow chain...depending on which channel...and we occasionally had to push the Cable ops to tweak their settings, or we had to tweak our hardware at times as well.
In addition to 'hot' video, you should be aware of 'crushed' black levels. As I understand it, digital is not nearly as forgiving as analog when dealing with A/V signals.
Bottom line is, it's your responsibility to make sure your product conforms to 'broadcast standards'.

  • Video Bitrate Too High...Wha?!?! NO!!

hello. i just spent 24 hours compressing (with compressor, from fcp) a bunch of projects of various length with various bitrates. when i tried to burn them with dvd studio pro, they all said "video bitrate too high." now, some of the projects had a video bitrate of 7.2, while others were 3.5...and they all said "video bitrate too high." what's up with that! i was using aiff audio...is there a chance that the problem was caused by that? right now, i'm re-compressing everything with ac3 as the audio format. in another 24 hours, i'll know if it worked.
    can someone help me?!?!?!

well a maximum bit rate of 8.8 with 1.5 of AIFF file, gives us a 10.3 bitrate, unfortunetly DVD maximum bit rate is 9.8, so here you go, you are well out of spec, use a 224kbs on the AC-3 encode for the audio with a dialogue normalization of -31, and a maximum of 8.5 bitrate on your video compression and you should be a happy man next time!!!!!
    good luck,

  • Sapphire Radeon 9800 PRO, 256 MB using ZALMAN VGA COOLER ZM80C-HP with

    Hi, I need some help...
I own a MSI 875P NEO FIS2R  Mainboard and Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9800 PRO 256 MB VGA card...
Meanwhile Sapphire released the same VGA card just like above mentioned but then equipped it with the ZALMAN Heatpipe VGA Cooler, type ZM80C-HP and called that videocard Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9800 PRO 256 MB ULTIMATE
I know the same separate ZALMAN VGA Cooler is available in the shops here since a few days and that I can equip my 9800 PRO too with that Cooler but I really don't know if the videocard plus the zalman cooler will fit on my 875P Neo FIS2R mainboard... Cuz of the little space between the AGP slot and the Canterwood Bridge (North Bridge)...  ?(
Anyone know if it's possible to do this/how to arrange this???  :(
    Thanx in advance...  :D

It will fit. But why replace the original heatsink? It works ok without the fan. Take a look here

I have a macbook pro OS leopard 10.5.8. I've synced it with an iPad 2. I cannot access the cloud because my OS is insufficient. Problem is most of my most- used applications would not work with a too-high system upgrade. I can't afford to upgrade all my apps. I need to know: what would be the least-high system upgrade I can install in order to access the cloud on my new iPad 2?
    MAC O.S. 10.5.8 - LEOPARD

Define "access the cloud". I can access my iCloud.com account on my 5 year old iMac at work running OS X 10.4.11 Tiger. I can download and upload Word documents and Pages documents in the iWorks section of my iCloud.com account.
What do you want to access in "the cloud"?
Snow Leopard would be your next system upgrade and you should be OK with the CS3 applications, and Office 2008. I cannot confirm that the other applications will work.
This is quite old, but take a look or Google the other applications to see if they are compatible with SL.

  • How do you fix error message "data rate for this file is too high for DVD.  You must replace this file with one of a lower data rate".

When trying to burn a DVD it will go through the encoding step and at 98% we see the message 'data rate for this file is too high for DVD.  You must replace this file with one of a lower data rate".  We need help to correct this so we can complete burning to DVD.

What did you export from Premiere?
Did you use the MPEG2-DVD preset... and did you make any changes to the preset?

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] Zalman CPU cooler doesn't fit, Northbridge Sink remove?

    Hi,
I have a problem fitting a Zalman (CNPS7000B-Cu) cpu cooler - the MSI northbridge sink is too high and too close to the cpu.
Can I replace the NB sink with one with a lower profile?
( Incidently, I'm not overclocking, although I do use this machine as an audio machine and it does get quite hot.
    - If I can replace - any recommendations?
    - If not - any recommendations for a reasonably priced and quiet cooler that will fit (i.e with a narrow profile).

I had the same problem on my 865PE Neo2-PFS Platinum Edition mobo. Zalman's website indicated that the CNPS7000a-AlCu fits on this board, but it doesn't. The diagonally placed northbridge heatsink is in the way. I originally thought I'd bend a few of the Zalman's fins out of the way, but then I decided if I could do something with the northbridge heatsink. I removed the northbridge heatsink and removed the 2 fins that were in the the way of the Zalman. I wanted to repalce the modded northbridge heatsink using some AS5 but the stock thermal goo (some pink stuff) was impossible to get off, even with alcohol or acetone. So I smeared some AS5 on anyway and just mooshed the heatsink back on with the pink junk and AS5.
I noticed that the northbridge gets really hot at stock speeds (200 FSB). I'm planning on overclocking my 2.4C to 3GHz (250 FSB) today, so I hope the northbridge doesn't burn up. Gonna aim a fan at it and hope for the best.
Hope the "bend 2 fins off the northbridge heatsink mod" helps all you guys that want to put Zalman's on your CPU's.

  • Higher Vcore? 645 ultra

Is it possible for MSI to release a BIOS with a higher vcore? I have read on this forum that intel stated the northwoods can handle more than 1.7v. If so why hasnt MSI raised their Vcore from 1.6? I have seen a vast amount of posts from MSI customers asking for a higher Vcore. The only reasons I can think of are that the 645 Ultra cannot handle a higher voltage or MSI isnt getting our requests. To clarify which board I own it is the MSI 6547 Ver. 1 AKA MSI 645 Ultra 333. Thank you for reading and please reply if you have any feedback.

Well you may be at the limit of your cpu, I personally wouldnt go higher than 1.75 volts ( which is really 1.7v because this board undervolts by .05v).  I also think that the chipset can't handle much past  150 mhz not too mention how out of spec the pci and agp bus is (if anyone has taken this chipset significantly higher I'd like to see it).  Also I had a Asus P3V4X (coppermine slot 1 mobo) and it was often suggested to put a heatsink on the clock generator chip (right by the ram slots, stick your finger on it and you'll see what I mean) to get higher fsb overclocking which indeed worked.  Now I havent tried it on this motherboard because I ripped it off said motherboard and put it on my Diamond MX300 sound card (Aureal chip) because it was sputtering at high fsb overclocking (which solved that problem as well).

  • P45 NEO - Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz - 400x9 vCore 1.5600 too high?

    Hi All,
I have received my Thermalright 120 Extreme this week and buyed a new Coolermaster 120mm 90cfm fan.
With this new build i have started to reconfigure my setup to run 3.6Ghz daily.
After many hours of configuration i got a stable configuration below in bios:
    FSB: 400
    FSB-DRAM: 1:1 (OCZ Heaper 1066 running at 800Mhz) but latter i will try 1066Mhz
    vCore: 1.5600
    GTL Ref 1: Auto
    GTL Ref 2: Auto
    MCH: 1.21
    VTT: 1.22
    ICH: 1.50
Temps are realy low with this new cooler, at full load i got 56c. and idle 29c.
    Now come the questions:
I belive that 1.56 is too high for this CPU, but as most mobos, the real vcore is below 1.56, like 1.51
Is there a way to increase MCH and reduce vCore?
PS: I have EIST enabled!!! So this save a lot of power as when i got idle the mult fall to x6 (2.4Ghz) and vCore fall to 1.32

    Thanks Jack,
I have made a mistake with Core Temp VID.
But one more interessting think is when i put the CPU at FULL load with prime95 or OCCT, my mobo start a low noise like a whizz.
Looks like this mobo will not support this high vcore for much time

  • How can I create a high res image gallery, need to have print res photos for a pressroom section.

How can I create a high res image gallery, need to have print res photos for a pressroom section.

If you want Muse to "pass through" your images and not adjust, compress, crop etc - you need to place your images in the lightbox EXACTLY at the right size, pre-cropped and prepped in Photoshop.
So if your light box is 800x600 the image you're dropping into that must be 800x600 exactly with no effects, rotation etc added to the lightbox frame. This stop Muse fiddling with your images, if they are perfect when inserted and you're not asking Muse to crop, expand, add effects etc. If it's perfect when inserted, Muse SHOULD also leave the resolution alone too, but I have not tried that one, but in theory, it should work.

I know this is going to sound stupid but I can't seem to set up my email as an iCloud email account. I want to eliminate my aol account and transfer everything to iCloud with an iCloud email. How do I do this.

If your Mac is running OS X 10.7.5 or higher, you first have to go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID to create your account, then check Mail.  This will automatically add an iCloud email account.
To transfer your AOL mail, you need to drag and drop them into the same folder in the iCloud account.  If you have any folders in your AOL mail, you would need to create folders by the same name in the iCloud account, then open each folder, select all the mail in the folder and drag and drop them on the folder by the same name in your iCloud account.  (To create a folder in the iCloud account, click the "+" at the bottom of your folder list, choose Create Mailbox, choose iCloud as the location and give it a name.)
