WLS 6.1 SP3 and apache plugin

Hello,
I have WLS 6.1 SP3 and apache 1.3.26 installed on solaris 8.
I enabled the weblogic Weblogic Plug-In Enabled for my wls server and
then I configured my apache server like the following:
1) I used mod_wl.so that comes with wls under
\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\solaris
2) Then I loaded that module using APACHE_HOME/bin/apxs -i -a -n
weblogic mod_wl.so
When I load the module I get the following:
[Thu Jan 15 10:05:53 2004] [warn] Loaded DSO libexec/mod_wl.so uses
plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI!
please recompile it with -DEAPI)
/usr/apache/bin/apachectl start: httpd started
I don't understand that message
3) The following lines were added to httpd.conf:
LoadModule weblogic_module libexec/mod_wl.so
AddModule mod_weblogic.c
4) Then I added the following to the httpd.conf:
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicHost 10.1.10.205(my weblogic IP)
WebLogicPort 7020 (my weblogic port)
FileCaching On
MatchExpression *.jsp
</IfModule>
The problem is that the apache server is not able to redirect the jsp
calls to the WLS server and I'm always getting "The page cannot be
displayed"
Any information that might guide me to solve this problem is appreciated

Itani,
Please try the mod-wl-ssl.so module shipped with weblogic, as this module is compiled with -DEAPI flag

  • WLS 6.1 SP2 and Apache 1.3.26 Windows NT/2000

    Hi,
Is there an Apache plugin available for WLS 6.1 (SP2) and Apache 1.3.26 running
    on Windows NT/2000?
    thanks

I've solved my own problem. I learned that there was a sp4 (let alone a
sp3) for WLS. Installed that and the problem went away. Sorry for the
    noise.

I'm guessing its complaining about the manifest file in struts.jar,

  • WLS 8.1.1 and Apache 2.0.47 on W2K AS

I have downloaded the apache plugin (apache20.zip) but the spec says it is only

Will the plugin work with v2.0.47?
Is there a plugin available for v2.0.47?
Will I have to install apache v2.0.39 instead?

The next version of Apache that we will support will be 2.0.42/2.0.43
    and
the module for that will be included in the next Service Pack for6.1(SP4)
    and 7.0(SP2).
The problem with Apache 2 is that when a new release comes out a newmodule
needs to be compiled. Most of the time. For 2.0.42/2.0.43 this is notthe
    case.

I'm trying to set this up (initially just apache in front of a single
    WLS
server but ultimately I want to put it in front of a cluster).
    I've installed Apache 2.0.40.
I've copied the mod_wl_20.so file into the apache modules folder.
I've edited the httpd.conf file and added the line:
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
When I run apache -t to check the configuration I get the following:
    C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin>apache -t
Syntax error on line 173 of C:/Program Files/Apache
    Group/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
    Cannot load C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_wl_20.sointo
server: The specified procedure could not be found.
    So what's going on here?
Looking at previous postings it sounds like there's an issue with
    versions
of apache after 2.0.39 but I can't find a download for that version. Also,
it sounded like the issues were for WLS 7, not 6.1. Can this work
    with
2.0.40 or am I wasting my time?
If I get the mod_wl_20.so from dev2dev I get the "incompatible plugin"
message that has been mentioned in this group already.
    Any suggestions appreciated,
    -Dominic

  • Message Bridge between WLS 6.1 sp3 and MQSeries 5.2

              Hi,
I'm really struggling with getting the Message Bridge working with Weblogic 6.1
sp3 and MQSeries 5.2. Currently I have both installed on the same Windows 2000
machine. First I'll pose some questions that I have, then I discuss the error
I'm getting. Here are my questions:
              1. With the jms-xa-adp.rar there is a ra.xml and a weblogic-ra.xml. Within the
ra.xml deployment descriptor there are config-properties for ConnectionURL, InitialContextFactory,
ConnectionFactoryJNDI, and DestinationType. If my MQSeries Queue is the source
jms destination bridge and my weblogic queue is the target jms destination bridge,
what values do I set for the listed config-properties? I can't seem to find any
documentation on what these values should be. Am I missing something? Do these
values even have to be set?
              2. When I go to install a Weblogic instance to a different physical machine what
has to be installed in terms of MQSeries? So I'll have MQSeries on physical machineA
and Weblogic on a different physical machineB. I want machineA to forward all
messages placed on a MQSeries Queue to forward them to machineB where the weblogic
Queue resides. Does machineB also have to contain an MQSeries installation?
Or can I just grab the necessary libraries and jar files and place them on the
Weblogic machineB so they can be included?
              3. Is it correct that if I distribute Weblogic onto one physical server and MQSeries
onto a different physical server that I cannot use Exactly-once quality of service?
              Other notes:
              1. I have the following patches installed for Weblogic 6.1 sp3:
              CR081404_610sp3.jar
              CR081511_61sp3.jar
              2. Here is the commands I used to create my ConnectionFactory and Queue within
              MQSeries:
              def xaqcf(MQTestConnectionFactory) qmanager(QM_jeff)
              def q(MQTestQueue) qmanager(QM_jeff) queue(default)

I tried your suggestion and it worked!! The only thing is, it
makes the deployment of the resource adapter a little more
complicated. Now my customers are going to have to edit their
config.xml, instead of just dropping in the appropriate rar into
the applications directory. But one nice side affect of placing
the rar's in a different directory is it makes the Message
Bridge a little more stable. I was finding it to be very
unstable. One time I would startup my Application Server and
everything was fine, then I would shutdown. The next time I
started it up, I would get exceptions. I have yet to see that
              behavior with this new configuration.
Thanks again for all of your help, it is greatly appreciated!!

  • WLS 6.1 sp3 and XA and DB2

              Our configuration is:
WLS 6.1 with sp3 on Solaris and DB2 7.2.7 on AIX running on remote server. Local
DB2 client is installed on Solaris (LD_LIBRARY_PATH and other DB2 related variables
              are set accordingly).
In some parts of our system we decided to use message-driven beans to process
some work off side. In some of them we interact with database and send JMS messages
to trigger some other MDBs. And we need all these operation to be one unit of
work. Since we have operation on JMS and DB stores, we were forced to use XA and
DB2 XA JDBC driver type 2.
Most of the time things work fine ( always in our dev environment where WLS, DB2
runs on the same Win2000 box), but rundomly we get JVM to crash on Solaris - like
once a day or two. We are about to roll out to production but with these crashes
we are confident about stablity of our app. We found that in most cases (but not
all) those were related to the situation when DB2 connection were dropped or become
              invalid.
On BEA website I found the information that WLS does not work in XA mode with
DB2 7.1, because "APP driver falls back to NET driver". Does this still apply
to DB2 7.2.7? If yes then I do not understand why Java->JNI call would fall back
to Java->JNI->Java? Besides on IBM site there is nothing which says that type
2 driver (so called APP one) requires JDBC client running on the same machine
as database. If BEA claims that this indeed is the case, then it poses severe
limitation to XA JDBC driver of IBM. Well, it means it is pretty much useless
(who runs DB and app server on the same box ?)
Today we just found new information about additional setting for XA connection
pools that apply to DB2 and Sybase. For DB2 you need to set KeepXAConnTillTxComplete
to true in your config.xml. We do not know yet if it is going to make things better
              (any input from BEA?)
Can we get firm statement answer from BEA whether our configuration is supported
or if not how we can achieve data/JMS integrity without using DB2 XA driver. Would
using regular DB2 driver in pseudo-XA mode be a best work around, provided that
              the regular one is stable.
How precisely WLS behave when it needs to orchestrate distributed transaction
using pseudo-XA JDBC driver and fully-XA JMS server? In second phase does it first
as DB to commit and if it succeeds it commits JMS, otherwise it rollbacks everything?
We are very anxious to get our questions answered please.
              Thanks,
              Waldek

    Any suggestions appreciated,
    -Dominic

The issue is, I'm noticing that the session is not sticky and is getting routed
onto the other app server instance. The error that I see in the wlproxy.log is

    please, help me !

I think the plug-in is intended for serves static pages, and another part of the document like MIME types.
I assume you are using the http protocol in your client to establish a jmx connection. Try enabling HTTP tunneling in weblogic server.
Can you post the code used to establish connetion?

  • Apache Plugin in linux for WLS6.0 sp1 and (?sp2?)

This message is a little long,
The following message is arranged in 4 parts where:
    1. Conclusion and Sugestions.
    2. Tests Environment
    3. Simple plugin environment
    4. Virtual Hosting with apache
Any comment and help will be welcome
    Conclusion
The plug-in has not been tested and documented and therefore does not
work in the described environment. The plugin parameter needs to be :
    1. Syntaxly rewieved. The parameters not starting with
    WebLogic.... (like PathTrim, PathPrepend, ConnectTimeoutSecs,
    ConnectRetrySecs, Debug, DebugConfigInfo, StatPath, ErrorPage,
    HungServerRecoverSecs, Idempotent, CookieName,
    DefaultFileName, MaxPostSize, MatchExpression, FileCaching,
    SecureProxy, TrustedCAFile, RequireSSLHostMatch,
SSLHostMatchOID) are confusing and couyld be bug/problem
generators when adding other non BEA modules in apache. I
would suggest to have all the parameter starting with a common
root like WebLogic or Wls or something else deterministic
    2. Better documented. The module parameters in Apache need to
get an action perimeter. For example the "LoadModule
weblogic_module" and "AddModule mod_weblogic.c" need to be
declared one time at the server level. But there no
indication for the others plugin parameters if they are
limited inside the sublocation where declared, i.e
    <VirtualHost>, <location> <file>.....
    3. Documented with configuration examples: The apache plugin is
interlinked with what is declared in the WLS server. I would
sugest to provide some examples on this matter. I.e how to
relate the Apache virtual hosting with or without the virtual
    hosting in wls.
    Test Environment
The tests described below has been done with the following system
    environment.
    Operating System:
RedHat 7.0 + glibc updates + network uodates, kernel level 2.2.17-14
    RedHat 7.1 + updates, kernel 2.4.2-2
    Java Level:
On the RedHat 7.0 system the default Java JVM provided in the BEA
    distribution
On the RedHat 7.1 system the Sun JDK 1.3.1 for Linux
    Apache: 1.3.19
DNS: one system called cordoba.paris.inetpc.com with 3 cnames added
    (w1cordoba, w2cordoba, w3cordoba)
The Weblogic installtion is coming from a single reference system.
This system runs under RedHat 6.2 + latest update levels. The WebLogic
tree directory has been deployed in both systems and the JVM set in the
proper manner. Despite the well known problem with the default webapp
Wls 6.0 works fine and as expected. Default ports are used (7001).
The apache environment works fine too. In a single apache environment
and with the virtual hosting supporting the 3 cnames (w1cordoba,
    w2cordoba, w3cordoba)
In both systems the behavior and and problems are equal.
    Simple plugin environment
A single default web app runs under wls6.0. calling the wls60 thru the
URI: "http://cordoba:7001" works fines and the Welcome.html default page
is properly displayed. Similar tests have been done with a jsp page and
    works fine too.
The httpd.conf file has been set has described in the documentation and
    as follow:
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl.so
    WebLogicHost cordoba
    WebLogicPort 7001
    Debug ON
    DebugConfigInfo ON
    <location /wls>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    PathTrin /wls
    </location>
Problem 1: When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba/wls"
the answer from the couple apache/plugin is:
-1- In the netscape location entry fileld we get in return:
-2- The response from apache is "NOT FOUND The requested URL
/Welcome.html was not found on this server."
-3- When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba:7001" the
return is properly rendered, and the Netscape Location entry field
    gets: "http://cordoba:7001/Welcome.html"
    -4- wlproxy.log contains:

    Virtual Hosting with Apache
These tests aim to validate a production environment where an entry cell
of apache servers will serve static pages and route dynamic requests to
a set of WebLogic servers. From the Apache/Httpd point of view the
dispatch is done first at a virtual host level and then for each virtual
server, each different location will be served by one or multiple
weblogic servers. A try with Apache virtual hosts in where a reroute by
location or a full reroute has done the same results than stated in
    "Simple plugin environment".
    [att1.html]

    Hi
I am trying to configure the following pattern:
    ->https->apache->SSL->weblogic
using the apache plugin that you provided from the distribution.
There is no way to let it work.
the apache site trying to connect to weblogic is a virtual host, follows the config
    file.
Checking the DEbugDebug config monitor it I discover that SecureProxy it is OFF
istead of ON and checking the debug file I've got this message:
    INFO: ssl is not activated..
It means that despite of SecureProxy set to ON, it is still working in clear.
    I have the same behaviour using 6.0, SP1, SP2 and 6.1
(If there more documentation about it in 6.1, please let me know where!)
Please, anyone can send me documentation about it or help me???
    # <-- Start XXXXX Virtual Host

Worth considering for the next major release.
    2. Better documented.
Yes, 6.1 release is doing a much better job of documentation!
The module parameters in Apache need to
get an action perimeter. For example the "LoadModule
weblogic_module" and "AddModule mod_weblogic.c" need to be
declared one time at the server level. If apxs is used to update the module, end user should not need
to worry about adding/changing these two lines.
    But there no
indication for the others plugin parameters if they are
limited inside the sublocation where declared, i.e
    <VirtualHost>, <location> <file>.....
    3. Documented with configuration examples: The apache plugin
    is
interlinked with what is declared in the WLS server. I would
sugest to provide some examples on this matter. I.e how to
relate the Apache virtual hosting with or without the virtual
    hosting in wls.
    Again, better on 6.1 docs.
Problem 1: When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba/wls"
the answer from the couple apache/plugin is:
-1- In the netscape location entry fileld we get in return:
"DefaultFileName Welcome.html" should be used in your httpd.conf
-2- The response from apache is "NOT FOUND The requested URL
/Welcome.html was not found on this server."
-3- When requesting the page using the URI: "http://cordoba:7001" the
return is properly rendered, and the Netscape Location entry field
    gets: "http://cordoba:7001/Welcome.html"
-4- wlproxy.log contains:on 6.1, if relative URI is used in sendRedirect(), PathTrim and
PathPrepend should be taken care automatically. i.e:
    in httpd.conf:
    PathTrim /weblogic
    PathPrepend /abc
    in a jsp page:
    response.sendRedirect("HelloWorld.jsp");
The plugin and wls will be smart enough to set Location header
    to the following:
    Location: http://apache_host:apache_port/weblogic/HelloWorld.jsp
Then the plugin will trim the /weblogic and prepend /abc to it
    i.e:
    http://wls_host:wls_port/abc/HelloWorld.jsp
    Virtual Hosting with Apache
These tests aim to validate a production environment where an entrycell

weblogic servers. A try with Apache virtual hosts in where a reroute
    by
location or a full reroute has done the same results than stated in
"Simple plugin environment".Absolutely. in 6.1 you can specify different weblogic hosts per
vhost. Even you can use MatchExresspion or <Location> to define
different parameters per mime type and path:
    i.e:
    MatchExpression *.jsp WebLogicHost=www.bea.com|WebLogicPort=7001|DefaultFileName=/Welcome.html
    MatchExpression *.html WebLogicCluster=weblogic1:7001,weblogic2:7002|Debug=ALL
    <Location /weblogic>
    WebLogicHost thankyou.com
    </Location>
    Where Location takes the precedence.
Anyway, 6.1 apache plugin should be a much better modules.
We also support apache2.0(beta) in 6.1. Unfortunately,
the apache2.0 binaries were unable to be included in the 6.1
beta installer. There might be a separate down-load for that.
Thank you for your great suggestions/comments.
    thanks

  • Weblogic apache plugin and webservices

Can I use the weblogic plugin on a DMZ based Apache server and use a 3 tier architecture
    to implement webservices.
Using this model can a external application contact my webservices running in
my internal network and can my weblogic/webservices server contact an external
application/webservices using the same route i.e through the apache webserver
    and weblogic plugin.
    Any documentation regarding the architecture?

    Hi Anil,
Not sure this is possible, unless you are using it as a proxy and setup
    the proper host/port mappings, see:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webserv/client.html#1072224
We have a very responsive security newsgroup, you might ask your
    configuration question there:
    http://newsgroups.bea.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=xover&group=weblogic.developer.interest.security&utag=
    Sorry, not much help (SNMH)

  • Apache Plugin for WLS 6.1 - Timeout Problem

    Hi!
We are discovering some problems in a WLS-Cluster setup at one of our customers.
    Environment: 2 x WebLogic Server 6.1 SP1 09/18/2001 14:28:44 #138716, running
on Solaris 8 machines. (2 x Managed, 1 x Admin) The WLS are served by an Apache
    Server (Solaris8), running the DSO-Plugin from 6.1 SP1. (Build date/time: Sep
    4 2001 16:45:41)
Our problem is as following: Due to other problems (network), we sometimes have
timeouts when the Plugin tries to contact the WLS. As a result, the client is
transferred to the next server in the cluster, which does not have the session.
(The Session is not (yet) clusterable)
Questions: How long is this timeout? Can it be configured?
As a clarification: I am not talking about the 'ConnectTimeoutSecs', this one
is 10 seconds. And the 'failover' to the next server in the cluster happens almost
immediately. Also at this point there is no way for us to solve either the network-problems
    or make the session clusterable.
We simply need a way to make a client 'sticky' to one Weblogic-Server.
Any help would be greatly welcome!! Many thanx, Andreas Liebrich
I will attach the Config as shown in __WebLogicBridgeConfig:
    WebLogic Cluster List:
    Host: 'x.y.z.128' Port: 7001 Primary
    General Server List:
Host: 'x.y.z.145' Port: 7001 Status: OK

    Nope.
If the plugin is unable to make a socket connection to WLS, it will try the
    next server in the list.
I would suggest working on the WLS side and if a sessionId does come into
the server and it does not exist, then reject that.
Otherwise, you will have to either use clustering, or a single server in the
    httpd.conf for apache.

  • Performance Monitoring and WLS 8.1 SP3

I've already send this question to
"weblogic.developer.interest.management" with no answer. Maybe it was the

Should I open a case to BEA support ?
I'm trying to use the performance monitoring tool on a WLS 8.1 SP3 server.
I've noticed that it is now included in the full distribution of the
    platform
(apparently not in the service pack 3 where a separate download is
    necessary).
I have installed a the full platform on Win XP SP1 and started the sample

    any suggestion ?

Looks like a bug to me. I think you should contact support.

  • Difference between WLS 6.1 SP2   and SP3

I have recently tested my application in WLS 6.1 SP3 (who work normally in WLS
6.1 SP2) , I have problem with my jsp page for merging a jsp in another
What need I do to correct it ?

    Steven,
The CGIServlet for WebLogic will not run a CGI that doesn't have an extension.
Just add and extension to your executable and it should run fine.

    Hi all,
I am currently facing a problem with CGI binaries via CGIServlet on WLS

When a call is made to http://.../cgi-bin/dialogserver , this results
    in a
    404-File Not Found error.
The contents of the cgi-bin directory have not been altered and I did
    not
face this problem earlier when I was using sp2.
It only happened after I upgraded to sp4. Can anyone help?
    best rgds,

  • Apache and weblogic plugins

    Hi All,
I have installed apache well and as per the documents i could read that the apache related plugins are present under weblogic_home/server/bin
but its clear in the apache guide that the plugins are not available for weblogic 10.3 release.which we have to download externally and put it in the apache server.
can some one let me know where can i find these zip files which contain mod_jk plugins
    Thanks in Advance....

I find this very confusing, finding the Apache plugins for 10.3.x. After searching around, looking into the download categories that I would think are relevant, I found nothing. I don't really need support information, support site requires its own logins and everything, and I just want that little piece of software. I ended up finding the direct link on http://vikashazrati.wordpress.com/2009/10/10/apache-weblogic-ubuntu/. This is very much not encouraging...
