WMV extension where is it at?

I must be getting blind as in CS5 and CS6 I can see not extension for wmv in file type association.  However it plays fine so I know it must be there somewhere.  Want to open in windows media player and I prefer VLC.  Can't find it to change.
Can someone tell me where it is on list?

It is not here either but then again I'm on a Mac.
And is there no option to change this behavior in Windows itself (on a Mac you have a get info command and then have the option to set the default open width also)

    You probably have not seen anyone reporting the exact same problem as you. All three crash reports have the same crash signature and as currently ranked 67 it is not the commonest of reasons for a crash.
    I hope you enter your email contact information when reporting crashes. I note you see this crash when using videos, others may possibly see this crash in other circumstances.
    You have already tried the obvious, attempts at a fix so it is now down to wait and see, maybe developers working on the bug will report something or fix it.
    Did you try my suggestion of installing portable ESR ?

  • How do I add the WMV extension to my Mac?

    How do I add the .wmv extension to my Mac?

    That does not make sense.
    WMV is a proprietary video format by Microsoft.   The extension is just an indication of it. You can't add extensions to computers. Extensions belong to files and indicate what format the file is in.
    You can however download Apps that will let you play videos of this format on your Mac.
    Any Video Player is one such option.

  • How do I get an attachment that has a .wmv extension to launch?

    I have been sent an attachment that will not launch. It has a wmv extension and is some sort of a video file. What do I have to do to get firefox to allow this file to launch?

    Usually if Firefox can't handle some media, it will allow you to open it in an external program, such as Windows Media Player.
    What is Firefox doing in this case -- just ignoring your attempts to open the media?
    Is this the only attachment affected, or do you have more general issues with email attachments? Yahoo and AT&T Yahoo mail users who access mail using old bookmarks have reported problems accessing attachments. Try getting to email through your Yahoo/My Yahoo or AT&T Yahoo home page in that case.
    Finally, to get the Windows Media Player plugin for Firefox, if you are interested in using that, see this support article: [[Play Windows Media files in Firefox with the Windows Media plugin]].

  • .wmv extensions

    When someone sends me a movie with a .wmv extension, I get a message from Quick Time saying "error opening movie...the movie could not be opened."
    The message isn't exactly helpful...What am I supposed to do about that? How do I make it run? Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Do you have the Flip4Mac QT/WMV plugin installed from Flip4Mac.com
    If so, post your question on the Flip4Mac forums:

  • Convert files with WMV extension to QuickTime

    Is there a ways to convert video files with wmv extension to quicktime on the ipohne it self, so the video can be played on the iphone?

    No. There are apps that will convert unprotected WMV files on a computer to something that the iPhone can play. Google is your friend to find video conversion software.

  • .wmv extensions are not working in fennec

    i downloaded fennec for one reason only. to make .wmv extensions work.

    Sorry, WMV (Windows Media Video) is a proprietary format controlled by Microsoft. Microsoft does not provide a Windows Media plugin for Android browsers, nor are there any third-party plugins that provide WMV support.
    There is an app called RockPlayer that can play WMV files on some Android phones, but you will need to download the files to your phone first, then play them.

  • Why cannot I not open file with .wmv extensions?

    I am not able to open file attachments that have a .wmv extension - I can open power point presentations. Am I missing an app or does Apple simply not recognize these as valid files? It seems to download, but then does not ever open.

    Nevermind, got it, thanks!

  • How to view files with .wmv extensions

    What application do I need to open files with a .wmv extension?  I get emails with attachments with this file extension and Quicktime can't open the file.

    Try downloading the free plug-in Flip4Mac.

  • Getting List of files of .wmv extension from a library \ folder in sharepoint 2013

    I need to get all the files from a particular folder in sharepoint library.
    I am using RESTAPI Javascript code as below :
      var call = jQuery.ajax({
                    url: _spPageContextInfo.webAbsoluteUrl + "/_api/web/GetFolderByServerRelativeUrl('" + folderName + "')/Files",
                    type: "GET",
                    dataType: "json",
                    headers: {
                        Accept: "application/json;odata=verbose"
    This code retrieves all the files in a particular folder, except files with extension of .wmv.
    The count of files retrieved also doesnt include .wmv files.
    Can anyone tell me why this is happening.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    As this is not an expected outcome when requesting files of a library, a suggestion is that please create a new library and upload one sample .wmv file to it and send the request
    again to see if it is an issue of Document Library.
    Feel free to reply with the test result if the issue still exists or there any progress.
    Thanks

  • Generic extension where clause

    I have two structs that are basically the same, both have two of the same public properties. I am trying to combine some extensions however when you define:
    private static Dictionary<string, List<string>> ToDictionary<T>(this T source) where T : IEnumerable<StructA>, IEnumerable<StructB>
    foreach (var item in source)
    item.Name ...
    Obviously source must now inherit from both IEnumerable interfaces, not one or the other. The problem is I am accessing the properties (such as .Name) and if I use a single interface, IEnumerable<object> the extension does not know if the properties exist.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks!

    >>Obviously source must now inherit from both IEnumerable interfaces, not one or the other.
    You cannot enforce the type argument to be of type IEnumerable<StructA>
    OR IEnumerable<StructB>.
    >>I have two structs that are basically the same
    There is no "basically the same" in object-oriented programming. Either they are of the same type or they are not.
    >>The problem is I am accessing the properties (such as .Name) and if I use a single interface, IEnumerable<object> the extension does not know if the properties exist.
    If both structs have the same public property you could define an interface which declares this property and then make both structs implement the interface:
    public interface HasName
    string Name { get; set; }
    public struct StructA : HasName
    public string Name { get; set; }
    public struct StructB : HasName
    public string Name { get; set; }
    You can then use the interface as the type constraint:
    private static Dictionary<string, List<string>> ToDictionary<T>(this T source) where T : IEnumerable<HasName>
    Note that an IEnumerable<StructA> cannot be implicitly converted to an IEnumerable<HasName> though so you still won't be able to call the extension method on a field declared as IEnumerable<StructA> rather than IEnumerable<HasName>.
    Just because a StructA can be implicitly converted to a HasName it doesn't mean that a IEnumerable<StructA> can be converted to a IEnumerable<HasName>.
    But you will be able to access the name property of any struct that implements the HasName interface, e.g:
    List<HasName> sa = new List<HasName>();
    sa.Add(new StructA());
    sa.Add(new StructB());
    var dict = sa.MyToDictionary(...);
    If you want to treat a StructA differently to StructB in any way, it makes no sense to use a single generic method for both types. Then you should use a method per type instead.
    Hope that helps.

  • Jollywallet is not listed under tools, extensions, where is it?

    Windows 8.1 Firefox 28.0
    Jollywallet is suddenly in my face, all over Firefox.
    I have been looking at removal fixes for an hour.
    I want jollywallet off my machine.
    Jollywallet is not listed under tools, extensions or add-ons on my Firefox.
    Jollywallet is not under add-remove programs windows.
    Thanks

    Okay, this is a little more complicated now.
    Firefox stores your settings in a folder which it terms a profile. You can have multiple profiles, but only one running at a time.
    When you use Reset, Firefox creates a new profile for you and copies over your bookmarks and selected other data.
    At this point, you have a choice: do you want to build up your new profile with your standard customizations, or do you want to resurrect your old profile and try to clean it?
    I guess it's not really a choice because you can do both and switch back and forth deciding which works better for you.
    Here's my suggested old profile resurrection procedure:
    '''Overview'''
    These are the steps:
    (1) Create a new Firefox profile<br>
    (2) Remove everything from that new profile folder<br>
    (3) Copy in everything from the old profile folder
    '''Create a new Firefox profile (Windows)'''
    Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
    ''Note: Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.''
    Click the Create Profile button. Use the default location (i.e., do not click to choose a different folder). Then select that new profile in the dialog and start Firefox.
    '''Open the New Profile folder in Windows Explorer'''
    Firefox in the new profile should look like a factory fresh installation. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using either:
    * Help &gt; Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
    In the first table, click the "Show Folder" button. Firefox will launch your brand new profile folder in Windows Explorer.
    Leaving this folder open, switch back to Firefox, and Exit. This will leave that profile folder open in Windows Explorer.
    '''Copy Old Data in Place of New'''
    In that new profile folder, select all the contents and delete.
    Leaving that window open, open or switch over to your Old Firefox Data folder. Drill down into your old profile folder. At this level you should see a folder named bookmarkbackups among other things.
    Select everything and Copy (either right-click > Copy or Ctrl+c).
    Switch to the empty new profile folder in other window and Paste (either right-click > Paste or Ctrl+v). This may take a minute since some of the files are large.
    '''Start Firefox'''
    Firefox should start up in that new profile with the resurrected old profile data. Success?

    How can you open .wmv....???

    Hello Gene.
    You need the Windows Media Player for Mac OS X.

  • File extensions lost periods avi mpg wmv

    After Installing Security Update 2007-005 PPC (and Quicktime 7.1.6) on a PB G4 400 and mounting a shared volume on a DT G4 without it installed, all files lost their periods. That is everything with an avi, mpg or wmv extension had the period replaced with a space. They display that way as well through the PB remotely. W T F
    G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Yes, I've used AVI files just fine. iTunes will take uncompressed AVI files perfectly well. But if the AVI is using a weird codec like DivX or XviD, then iTunes probably can't read it.
    Basically, if Quicktime can play it, you can probably drag it into iTunes.

  • Problems with wmv previews in SL...anyone?

    Hi guys
    I am having a weird issue lately: when i preview a wmv, it starts fine, but if i try to skip ahead the file, it doesn't let me do it, going back to the beginning of the clip.
    looks like when you watch a streaming movie, where you gotta wait before that you can actually skip ahead to an advanced part of the movie....weird since it was just fine a couple of weeks ago.
    Same when i play it in QT; while when i use VLC i can skip ahead, but the video takes a while to get synced (just hear audio for a second or 2, and then the video starts again); this happens with any WMV, while mp4 and QT files are not affected, nor the AVI files (and not just one....i tried with many different files encoded in many different ways, but still with wmv extension)
    I am not sure if the damage was done by the last update to SL, if is an issue with the codecs (flip4mac, that was updated almost at the same time of SL) or if is some sort of issue that has no rational explanation and i gotta re-install SL (gosh, is not a pc :P).
    I tried to remove all the codecs and re-install them (flip4mac, perian, divx) but no luck, same issue; and i can put my hands on flames that it was working just fine a bit ago.
    Anyone had the same or similar issue? any idea before that i clean up the machine and put back the os from scratch?
    Thanks!

    Thanks guys, had to do some QA for telestream to find out what was wrong...so just in case let me clear it up for you
    The issue is related to F4M; any build after the 2.2.3.7 on SL shows the issue for me (i went back and forth installing, until i found the latest build that was working, that is the 2.2.3.7); i have also removed every other codec, so i use only f4m and nothing else (and now cannot see anymore in previews the flv vids...guess i will install perian again now:P).
    From what the guys at telestream said, seems that there is a different way to handle files on their app, but i tried to install the new build and then to change the settings as they specified and had no luck, so i guess that either this is an issue with ati hd3850 cards, or i am getting a bug that nobody else gets, since i was mainly the only guy reporting this issue on their forum.
    Anyway, now with that build installed i can play the files like i used to, so no harm done; i just hope that they will realize that they gotta fix it, since i would like to get a free update
    So if you see that your preview or QT does not play anymore WMV in the right way, just install the 2.2.3.7 and you should be good to go, until they will come up with a solution
    BTW this is my thread on the perian website:
