Won't sync after update 11.1.4

I can now get itunes to recognize my devices but they won't sync properly. There's no error messages. They simply don't do anything during the sync. I've tried restoring my iPod. Adding a playlist, the entire library and nothing works. Help? I'm running windows 8.1 btw.

I have the same problem.  Windows 8,1,  Itunes 11.1.4.  IPod Classic 160 GB.
If I connect the iPod to the USB port, iTunes simply hangs and becomes unresponsive.  I have to unplug the iPod and kill the iTunes process to reset things.
The iPod is very full.  I've tried deleting albums in iTunes to create breathing room for the sync.  But that doesn't help.
When they aren't connected, the iPod and iTunes each run fine, but syncing fails.

  • IPod Won't Sync After Updating to iTunes 10

Whenever I click sync to add the music that I purchased in the online store, it says that it is syncing the ipod, but then stops and then loads on the ipod screen for it being okay to disconnect. I've reinstalled itunes 10, tried itunes 8 (wouldnt work because library was converted to itunes 10) and it still does this same exact thing where it won't sync my music from the library on my computer to the ipod.
    Help please.

Since upgrading iTunes I've noticed that not all of my podcasts will sync - one or two are always left out. Syncing again will get the stragglers, but it used to work just fine.
Another issue, possibly related, is I've seen an accumulation of 'Other' data on my iPod that I can't identify. I'm beginning to think it might be abandoned audio files from auto updating smart playlists that remove selections after they've been played. Doesn't happen with podcasts, though, because that smart playlist refuses to auto update on the iPod.

  • IPod won't sync after update

After updating iTunes files were corrupted.  I unintalled and reinstalled according to the instructions from Apple.  My iPod doesn't sync and I my library is gone.  It may be in iCloud but I can't get it to work.  Any suggestions?

If the iTunes Library file becomes corrupted, iTunes creates a new one (that is empty) and starts using it.  That may be why your iTunes library is "gone."  However, your iTunes media files (such as your song files) are probably still on your computer's drive.  In Windows, do a search on the name of a song that was in your iTunes library.  If you can find that song's file, note its location.  All of your song files are probably along that same path.  If you were using standard settings in iTunes, they are in your user home folder's Music folder, under iTunes and then iTunes Media.  Something like this
    \Users\[your username]\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\
If you can find your song files, you may be able to recover your iTunes library using the procedure described in this document
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists - Apple Support
If that is not possible, you can still add your song files to a new iTunes library.  You will lose supporting data such as playlists, ratings, and play count.  After you have your songs in an iTunes library, you can sync your iPod to that library.  NOTE:  Songs on the iPod that are not in your new iTunes library will be lost.  You can reply back, if this is a problem or you have problems syncing your iPod to a new library.
Songs purchased from the iTunes Store can be re-downloaded at no cost.  If any purchased songs were lost, go to the iTunes Store.  Be sure to sign in using the Apple ID used for the purchase.  Then, go to the Purchased screen (there is a link to Purchased on the main iTunes Store screen along right side).  You can download (most) previous purchases there.
If you subscribe to Apple's iTunes Match service, your entire iTunes music library is matched or uploaded in iCloud.  If this is the case, please reply back.

  • Ipad won't sync after updating to snow leopard

Any help available regarding a non-syncing ipad first gen, after updating to snow leopard on my imac?  The ios software on ipad is up to date, and the snow leopard version is also up to date.  The computer will not even recognize that the ipad is connected.  Thx.

Try something very simple first. Quit iTunes, reboot the Mac and restart the iPad. Then try again.
I had some issues when I first installed SL on my last MacBook, and I still have issues every now and then with the iPad not being recognized (now running Lion 10.7.3 on a new MacBook Pro) and this has always worked for me. You may have to reboot the Mac a couple of times - but try it and see if it works for you.

  • IPad 2 won't sync after update to 5.1 and iTunes 10.6.0.40

Upgraded iPad2 to 5.1 and Windows iTunes to 10.6.0.40.  iTunes doesn't recognize the iPad as a device, but does recognize the camera.  Tried all iPad troubleshooting steps (restarting both, reinstalling iTunes, tried various USB ports).  Any ideas?

    Hi G-whiz,
I solved the same problem (iTunes 10.6.0.40 upgrade on MacBook Pro). iOS  5.1 for iPhone and iPad, not recognised after update, even after rebooting each device in isolation and then all together. Still did not work.
For me the issue was: The MacBook Pro was running BT with wireless kbd and touchpad connected; also I had a large flatscreen running from the mini display connector.
Aiming to minimise any driver conflicts (even if external monitor and BT drivers are not third party), I followed these steps:
    1. disabled bluetooth
    2. disconnected external LCD
    3. rebooted MacBook Pro (wifi still enabled before restart to get to iTunes Store)
    4. connected iPad and iPhone to power (before upgrading to iOS 5.1 they had been set to wifi sync when on power)
    5. started iTunes
Voila! Devices recognised automagically! And beginning sync instantaneously.

  • Video won't sync after update to 4.3

I have a 1st generation iPad, everything worked great on it prior to updating to iOS 4.3. Now, it will not sync any video - no TV, no Movies, not manually checked, not on Playlists. I have turned syncing movies/TV off, then synced, then turned movie/TV syncing on, and synced - no joy. I have reset the iPad, and done a full Restore - nothing. Video just won't sync.
I've got a Mac running the latest 10.6 and iTunes 10.2.1
    Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

I believe I have the same issue as you. It seems that some of my videos will sync; while others will not. I'm not sure what it is about some of the video files that allows some of them to work and the others not. I used HandBrake to convert the videos to AppleTV format and this worked for me up til this recent iTunes/iOS software update.
I am on iTunes 10.2.1 and iOS 4.3 running on Mac OS X 10.6.6.

  • IPod Touch suddenly won't sync after updating app

I installed an update for an app and now my ipod touch won't sync. The mac doesn't see it and it doesn't even charge when hooked up. It charges fine with the same cable on a wall charger. My son's ipod is fine, I've restarted the ipod and the mac, I've reset the ipod, i've swapped usb's and cables, no luck. I've tried holding down the lock and power buttons. Its a 32 gig model, SW version 3.1.3. Can I uninstall an app? I suspect its tic tac toe free causing the problem

    Welcome to the discussions,
you can delete the app on your ipod by touching the icon until it starts to shake, then hit the little cross to delete it.
Did you try to connect in recovery mode to see if it is recognized by your mac? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • IPad Air won't sync after update

I was still on 7.1.2 on my iPad Air before I upgraded. I made my backup to sync all my apps and everything and then did an update using the restore option and when I choose to restore my back up it takes about 3 hours and after that none of my apps have synced and iTunes is still asking if I want to "set up as new" or "restore from backup" well I have restored from backup about three times without getting any of my apps back. Any one else have this issue or know how to help? Thanks

If you can, decline both options to restore the backup and set up as new, and just cancel out.  Then eject the iPad, quit iTunes, restart your computer, restart iTunes and then try to sync again. You can't be any worse off than you already are, of none of your apps are syncing anyway. Maybe refreshing everything will allow the process to work.
IF you still have the backup that you created before you updated, your app data and settings should still be safe in that backup.

  • Ipod Touch won't sync after updating iTunes

I updated my iTunes and now my ipod touch will not sync, it says that the ipod is synced with another iTunes library when it is not, is there a way to get it to sync?

With all the synced media like apps and music in your iTunes library do the following:
    - Make a backup in iTunes by:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. The above link includes that restore from backup instructions.
Somehow updating iTunes caused iTunes/iPod to think it was not synced to this library. That happens sometimes.

  • 3G won't sync after update. Lost all contacts, calendars, etc.

Since I installed the stupid 4.0 update I can't sync. I get an error message that says "Sync Server and Mobile Device Helper has encountered a problem and has to close". Also "Itunes could not back up phone because session failed".
I am so angry and of course Apple wants me to pay for them to help me with a problem they caused.
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes. It didn't work. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?

If you are trying to get your mail and calendar from an Exchange Server (typically corporate e-mail and calendar) or Google Apps / Google Sync (not sure if that is the right name, but it is the Google Service that is also using Exchange) then check out [this Knowledge Base article|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3398] for a work around. If you are not using Exchange or the Google service that uses Exchange you'll have to keep looking for someone that is experiencing your problem.

My MacBook Pro won't restart after updating iTunes, and so the update doesn't work. I have just purchased an iPad mini and can't sync it - can anyone help

Press and hold power button for up to 30 seconds. Remove battery and reinsert then repeat.

  • Both iPod and iPad won't connect after update.

Both iPod and iPad won't connect after update.  iTunes says "can't allocate a resource"

I had the same problem after updating to iOS 7 today. I did follow the advice on another site, but additionally rebooted my iMac. Worked after that.
Follow these steps to reset the Lockdown folder:
Disconnect all iOS devices from your computer and quit iTunes.
From the Finder, choose Go > Go to folder.
Type the following and then press Return:
    /var/db/lockdown.
The Finder window should display one or more files with long alphanumeric file names.
In the Finder, choose Edit > Select all. Then, choose File > Move to Trash. Enter an administrator password if prompted.
Note: Do not delete the Lockdown folder itself. Delete only the files contained inside the Lockdown folder.
Reconnect your iOS device and open iTunes
My Additional step: reboot the Mac. Your iPad should give the first indication that it has worked by asking you to "trust this computer" or some such. Agree. Then iTunes should have reopened with your iPad showing and syncing.

  • Ipod classic won't mount after updating to itunes 11.0.2

ipod classic won't mount after updating to itunes 11.0.2.
I updated to itunes 11.0.2 today, after delaying it for a looong time (I have it @ work and don't like the new layout).
Since then, none of my ipods will mount/show up/update. I've tried all USB ports, 3 ipods, 3 cords. Wondering if you know of any issues. I've restarted the mac about 15-20 times today since as soon as I hook up an ipod, itunes immediately spins the beach ball and won't let me click out of it.
I've restarted the ipods 10+ times each.
All of the ipods DO show up on my desktop though. Just not in itunes anywhere with 11.0.2.
One more thing: It's not the cables or the ipods: they both mount fine when connected to my laptop (running old *** 10.4.11 and itunes 9.)
Machine is a Mac Pro running 10.6.8.

Finding this Post took some time but I thought it was me talking when I read it. I was having the exact same issue. I have a G3 I've been upgrading like mad, including a Sonnet G4-500 CPU a Maxtor 60gb & 80gb HDs 1gb of RAM a new LaCie Firewire800 PCI card Graphics card etc. the latest was installing Panther 10.3.9 on the new 80gb HD and also swapping out the old CD-ROM and replacing with the (Apple standard) Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D combo drive in it's place. got everything up and booted and poof! no burning. Toast worked read/write no problem. iTunes could read and import no problem, but wouldn't burn a CD.
Downloaded "PatchBurn 3.1.3" installed, re-booted and all is OK in burner land again :>)
I wanted to just post my additional thanks to the lead to Patchburner, and I'm going to donate to the cause. It's worth a $20 donation just for my joy of not throwing this computer out the window!!
