  • After restoring my ipod touch multiple times it still goes to the connect to itunes screen, freezes then goes to a white screen

Ok so i have restored my iPod touch multiple times the restore is "successful" my iPod touch 2g goes to the connect to iTunes screen then it just freezes. After about one minute it goes to a white screen until it dies. Any ideas?

If it does it after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then yo have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod needs to be restored but it only stays on the "connect to itunes" for approximately 20 seconds and then turns black as if it is turned off.

So a couple of months ago, I had to restore my new IPOD 5 TOUCH because i had forgotten the password and disabled it, so as you can imagine I am quite familiar with restoring it.
(The last time I had synced it was the only time that I had to restore it when I first got it when I had disabled it)
This morning I wanted to sync my ipod. So I plugged my ipod into my WINDOWS computer and waited for itunes to open, and it did just like it is supposed to. It then said itunes needed the latest update so i continued with updating it. Itunes updated, but then said that my ipod needed the latest software. I said "ok update" and thats when itunes made my ipod into DFU mode without me even touching it.
SOOOO as you can imagine I was quite upset. I then have realized that because Itunes had moved it into DFU mode on its own, I could not manually get my ipod out of DFU mode so the only thing i was left to do was go ahead and restore it.  (correct me if Im wrong)
My huge issue right now is that my ipod NEEDS to be restored, but it only stays on the "connect to itunes" screen for approximatley 20 seconds and then turns black as if it has been turned off. When I plug it into my computer and turn it on to the "connect to itunes" mode, it does open it in itunes and starts "extracting sofftware" but then when it turns black after 20 seconds, it closes out because my computer thinks it has turned off.
I have tried charging it, and nothing has progressed. Im not sure if anything can be done for it right now, or if I could bring it to an apple store to fix it... it's brand new about 3 months old.
HELP and some advice would be greatly appreciated  !
    Thanks!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable

  • IPhone 4 is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and won't activate?

My friend wanted me to back up his iPhone 4 but when he brought it over it seemed like it was in recovery mode and it is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. He never connected the iphone 4 to iTunes before this and I know he didn't tamper with it. When I try to sync the iPhone 4 with iTunes it accepts the iPhone but I keep getting a message that says that " the iPhone cannot be activated and may be damaged & to bring it in to the nearest Apple Store" this makes no scense cause the phone has not been tampered with at all & it seems that everything on the start up menu is working fine, the touch screen, voice prompts, the volume up/down, vibrate, home and sleep/power buttons are all operating properly? The only thing is that he hasn't payed his bill and AT&T shut his service off, but I don't think that this would cause the phone to go into recovery mode. What does cause the iphone-4 to go into recovery mode and why would I even have to activate the iPhone-4 if it was already set up? If this has happend to anyone else or if anyone can help me out on this one, I would appreciate it even if the answer ends up being that he needs to take his iphone-4 into the Apple Store or AT&T because the iphone-4 is under 6 months old and like I said has no physical damage at all? Help anyone???

well I only have a 3gs so I'm not all up on the current but the way I see it you have a few option's depending on the route you want to take,
If you don't mind loosing what's on the phone (if you want to try save info try 2 before 1)
    1. (Best Chance) put the iphone into DFU mode, (1. turn off iphone while plugged into computer, then hold the sleep button count to three 2. then hold the home button whiile still holding the sleep button, count to 10 3. release the sleep button but keep home button,) then itune should detect the phone and offer to restore it, this should restore it
1b.  I would repeat above with a active SIM card, doesn't make a difference where I live but you never know
1c.  I wouold try On difference Computer (rule out bad download, currupt driver's etc etc
If you want to try save the information then I would say you are doing some of this at your own risk as I'm not sure about apple rules regarding these, the steps should all be legal but might void your warrently so be warned!
    2. Download a utility call Tinyumbrella ( http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ ) and have you phone connected and run the program, on the left should be a list of connected devices (make sure itunes is closed) click on the device connected and on the right click exit recovery, hopefully your device will reboot normally, (there's also an fix recovery option but I've never used that)
2b this option is to jailbreak your phone as that "hacktivates" your phone if using this option and it works I suggest a FULL backup then follow option 1 above, download a program call Redsn0w ( http://blog.iphone-dev.org/tagged/redsn0w ) and follow the instructions that come with it, again if this works I suggest a full backup then follow option 1 about even if you do wish to stay "jailbroken"
this advice is just some idea's as you have given no information on what happen or firmware involved current mood of phone ^^ I can only hazard a guess at the problem< if after these steps is doesn't work i suggest trying to bring it back and get someone professional to look at it

  • HT1349 My ipod was submerged in water monentarily. I have dried it with a hair dryer and set it in the sun for 1 hour. It now will turn on and only bring up the connect to itunes screen. My keypad is locked and will not unlock by connecting to itunes.

My ipod was submerged in water momentarily. I have dried it with a hair dryer and have placed it in the sun for 1 hour.  It will now turn on but will only bring up the connect to itunes screen. When I connect to itunes it is not recognized because it is locked with a security code. I have tried to reset the ipod using the instructions in the user manual to no avail. The accessibility screen is functional because I can turn on/off the voice over and the black and white screen. I think I am making progress but cannot unlock it. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

Unfortunately, using a hair dryer or placing the iPhone in sunlight, at best, will dry the outside of the device. If water got inside, it may still be possible that this water has not dried and can short out the internal battery or cause other circuit damage ... and what you are seeing may be the results of that. I would recommend that you leave the iPhone turned off and take it to your local Apple Store. They may be able to help, but I wouldn't expect them to offer you a replacement. Sorry!

  • HT1414 my iphone is stuck in the "connect to iTunes" screen! even if I turn it off or reboot it! What can I do?

My iphone is stuck. I tried to update the iOS to get iCloud. Whilst updating the software an error occured (don´t know which) and the screen now is fixed on the "connect to iTUnes". I tried to turn it off, but when turning back on, the apple appears, and then again the connect to itunes screen.
My itunes does not recognise the iphone.
    What can i do?

Leave it plugged in, and iTunes open, and hold the home and power buttons at the same time. This is a reset. The screen should go dark for a brief moment before the Apple logo reappears. At this point, let go of the power button but continue holding the home button. Let go when you see the Connect to iTunes screen, and iTunes should say it has detected a device in Recovery Mode. Click restore.

when i try to reset my ipod it stops at 10minutes and the ipod turns itself on and acts like ive done nothing to it, it has been stuck on the "connect to itunes screen" and it wont reset. why?

After you place the iPod in recovery mode using
iOS: Unable to update or restore
You have to then connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. Are you doing that?

  • HT201263 My iPhone 4 is stuck on the "Connect to iTunes screen" after trying to update to iOS 7.0.4! Help!

I was attempting to update my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 7.0.4 via my computer after I plugged it in to create a backup copy and something went wrong before it could finish and I recieved an error message. Now my phone is stuck on the "Connect to iTunes screen". I've tried everything to reset & restore my phone with no luck!
    I have:
    -Restarted my computer
-Updated iTunes to most current version
-Turned phone on and off several times, waiting up to a half hour before turning on (to be greeted directly with apple logo then the connect to iTunes screen)
-Turned on, turned on and held home button (nothing happens)
-My computer is NOT recognizing my device at ALL! But when I plugged my boyfriends iPhone in, it detected it no problem.
I tried calling my phone from the other phone and it goes straight to voicemail. I am super frustrated! Does anybody know what is going on?

I was able to restore my phone!!!
I called Apple and they said there was nothing more I could do. I called my carrier Verizon and was able to get my computer to recognize my device after trying this-
    Solution:
After trying EVERYTHING this is the ONLY thing that worked-
I took the USB connector cable out of the USB port it was in, and tried another one on the otherside of my laptop and iTunes was able to discover my phone in recovery mode. My phone was reset and everything is fine ( thank gosh for backup copies!)

  • HT201263 My phone is stuck on the connect to itunes screen and i cant go into DFU mode, what do i do now?

What do i do now? i tried everything, when i plug my iphone cable into my com, it shows me the connect to itunes screen, when i unplug it it turns off and when i turn it back on it stays the same. help pls

You should not need DFU mode - you phone is already in recovery mode - you just need to restore it in itunes. If you unable to restore you need to try another computer - preferably other network as well. If it is still not restored - it is a hardware problem.

  • Help with iphone update to 7.0.4 - wont restore or leave the connect to itunes screen

    Hello,
I am currently overseas in Thailand and decided to try to update my iso from 6 to 7. Initially I went through settings>software update with a strong connection to wifi - it downloaded on my phone but then instead of updating came with the screen connect to itunes (I am thinking because there wasnt enough space on my iphone?). I have now connected it to a computer with the most updated version of itunes.
The screen on itunes looks like this:
    IPhone Recovery Mode
Your iphone software is up to date, iTunes will automatically look for an update again on the 24/2/2014.
The two buttons below say "check for update (grey)" and "restore iphone (can click)" - I have clicked restore iphone and it proceeded to download iphone software update (1.12GB) - once downloaded nothing changes, i cannot apply the download to my iphone and still my iphone has the connect to itunes screen - I have done this twice and nothing has changed.
I would really appreciate any help or advice on what is happening, and why it cant restore my iphone -
Apple tech geeks encouraged to respond!!! please!!! I really need to have my iphone working again.
    Thankyou in advance
    Elyssa
At all stages I have tried holding the circle button and top button to reset iphone but nothing changes!

Put the iPhone in DFU mode, (Google how to put iPhone in DFU mode).
Shift+Restore if using PC, Option+Restore for Mac, point to already downloaded firmware. You may have to un-hide folders to see the .IPSW file
