Word changed when font is changed?

Has anyone ever had this happen? I pasted copy into inDesign (CS5) and then changed the font. Look what happens to the word certified. The word is correct in Story Editor but not on the pasteboard. Autocorrect is off.

I'd say it's best to be left on by default. A lot of font creators create beautiful ligatures for their fonts.
But it's up to you.
If you want to turn it off for any new documents then go to the Panel with no documents open and turn it off.
Changing a setting, adding styles, deleting styles, adding/removing swatches or almost all behaviour when no documents are open will be the default for any new documents.
If you have it in a bunch of documents that you want to turn off use the find change
And change it in the formating options under Basic Character Formats
And choose All Documents.
But I'd prefer to leave it on.
That dot over the "i" next to an "f" drives me crazy.

Preventing scrollbars appearing when font size changes

Hi,
I have a Panel container (relative layout with now height/width specified) containing text which has its font size determined at runtime from an external stylesheet. In my application, the user has the option to change font size (ie. load a separate external stylesheet). The problem is, whenever larger font sizes are chosen, horizontal and vertical scroll bars keep appearing within my panel container. I do not want this at all, I want the panel to resize!
I've tried almost everything, including:
Calling "validateNow()" when font size changes
Launching a resize event when font size changes
Overriding the updateDisplayList method of Panel and trying to set the height and width to the newly measured height and width.
None seem to be effective. It is as if the Panel does is not able to calculate the new size when the font size changes.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sounds like you follow good practices.
This has been going around for some time in various forms, a number of users have asked about it and the best advice is if in doubt go doirectly to Apple, not links in the email. Calling Apple or using the Apple site is always the best approach.
A few have even noticed very slight misspellings in the emails, things like Appel instead of Apple...most people don't even notice those.

Log also when font is changed

Hi all,
I've a question.
I've a trigger that logs informatiion when a user updates a template. (the information is written to a table.
Now is it so that it only logs when the user updates someting, but it doesn't log when the user changes something of the font.
For example: if the font is Ariel and the user changes that to New Times Roman this is not logged.
Also when a word is unbolded and it is maked bold , no information is logged.
Can someone help me on this one???

Which value is the font you're looking for stored in? You'll have to identify when the font changes and then decide what action to take when that event occurs, similar to the IF statement you already have.

Checking for Pending Changes when a region changes

Hello community,
I developed my whole application using a main page Template, which includes a region. This way, we have a main menu and the region gets updated with every different taskflow as the user navigates through.
The problem is, I don't get Pending Changes warnings when I leave a taskflow that I have modified. In other words, the system doesn't warn the user that he will lose whatever work he had done if he leaves that page.
I did some research on the topic and found out that ADF has some native features to handle this, but it seems that it requires the system to be built according to some specific practices, and the way I built my application (using the region as the main stage) doesn't seem to support this feature, am I correct?
The question is, how can I implement a pending changes warning system, without changing too much of my application? Any tips will be appreciated!!

It seems that the ADF's built-in "Uncommitted Data Warning" functionality is what you need. However, its behaviour depends on some conditions. For example, if you are using regions, it will depend on the transactional behaviour and the DataControl scope of the corresponding Bounded Taskflow (e.g. on whether the taskflow creates a new ADF Controller transaction and/or on whether it uses an isolated DataControl frame).

Song changes when iPod orientation changes

Hoping someone can help me fix this issue. For some reason when I turn my iPod on its side the song I'm listening to will suddenly change. The display changes to a list of album covers and I need to straighten my iPod and press the Menu button and then Play to start the song again. Is there a way to "lock" a setting so when the iPod's orientation changes it doesn't start playing another song or switch to a display of album covers?

A shot in the dark, but have you checked to make sure you don't have the *Shake to Shuffle* option enabled on the iPod? To check, head to *Settings > Playback*, choose Shake, and then make sure you have it set to Off.

Why do filler colors change when the orientation changes?

Hi, I'm working with a template but don't like the colors of the fill boxes, so I have manually changed them. I've noticed, however, at least when look at a proof that when I change the orientation of the iPad, the filler color reverts to the original. The color change screws with the styles. Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes?

Thanks for your reply. I was fuzting with the "book" again. It was the simplest -- and therefore easiest to modify stylistically -- template, which was supposed to work in both orientations. I created it in landscape. Last night I reallized that when I changed the orientation when working in iBook, if I applied the color change to the boxes [again], the color change stayed when viewed in either orientation.
BUT I also saw that the box placement in the portrait view is "wrong." It covers part of one of the headlines. While I have changed the headline font manually [not via paragraph styles, which I am finding difficult to manipulate], I have not moved the text. It is where the template placed it but simply using a different font.

How to stop Latest_Acceptable_Date change when Request_Date is changed

We are implementing ATP and I am aware that when Request Date (RD) is changed it calculates latest_Acceptable_Date (LSD) based on Request_Date and Latest_Schedule_limit.
Just wondering, if there is a way we can stop changing the Latest_acceptable_Date ( if latest_Acceptable_date is already available i.e not null) when ever request date is changed. I tried calling Process_order API by passing both the fields (LSD and RD), but it still changes the LSD based on the RD. I know that the functionality of scheduling.
If there is any way to have same LSD if available when ever RD is changed? I would really appreciate your suggestions and thoughts. Please advice

Though I have never tried this before, but before updating the Request Date, you may want to try setting the OM System Parameters -> Latest Acceptable Date to "Ignore the Latest Acceptable Date without warning' ?
Check whether setting this parameter will stop changing the Latest Acceptable Date. But is there any specific reason why you want the LAD to be unchanged?

BOM item qty does not change when header qty changes in Outbound Delivery

Hi,
We are using sales BOM and exploding it in Sales Order. ( Item category of components as TAE )
I am creating a delivery with reference to a sales oder ( i have maintained copy controls to copy header and item data). Now when i change BOM header quantity in delivery document system is not redeterming the components quantity , item quantity of the components does not change.
Please let me how can i control item qunatity when BOM heade quantity changes in outbound delivery document

Hello Venkata,
The components item category is TAE, that means the item category for the header item will be TAQ. Also the pricing will be carried out at the header item level only.
Now for your query:
The standard item category controls of TAQ will not have any connection between the header & the item level quantities in the delivery. If you change the quantity of the header item in the sales order, the quantity of the compnenets will be automatically adjusted. But this will not happen in the delivery with the normal settings of TAQ.
Solution:
Go to transaction code VOV7 - select TAQ - double click - In the Bill of Material/Configuration section , there is a field "Create Delivery Group" - select "X - Form delivery group with one delivery date".
Save the settings. Now create a new sales order & then create the delivery & try to change the quantity of the header item, the system will automatically change the quantity of the components. (the system may not change the quantity of the components in the delivery of the old sales order - change it manually)

Should default gateway change when public IP chang...

I understand that hub remains always as 192. etc,
but my question is when disconnecting from internet via Hub or powering down hub, thus getting new public Ip address -should the default gateway change as well?. I always have a constant here?

Transition length changes when timeline length changes

When I have a transition that's, say, 1.5 seconds and I extend the timeline, the transition will change in length so the motion looks ridiculously slow. I find myself either spending a lot of time adjusting transition lengths or else finding ways to keep the total timeline length the same (to the detriment of the content). Is there any way to "lock down" the transition length when I need to change the timeline length? Locking the object with the little padlock doesn't do it.

Indeed that is possible, because it is locked to the end of the slide, agree, only way to change a locked item.
Understand that when having to copy slides, that will have different durations later on, you prepare the 'mother' slide, inclusive all the wanted effects before copying. For objects that are displayed for the rest of the slide, changing the slide duration will change the duration of the effects.
I do not exactly know what you need for your projects, perhaps an alternative I'm using often could help: Instead of copying the slide with all its objects, I'll set the objects that have to appear for the 8-10 following slides to show for the rest of the project, instead of for the rest of the slide. They will show up on each slide where they are visible with the same effect and the same timing, whatever the duration of the slide. Drawbacks: after those slide you'll have to hide them on the next slide (advanced actions on Enter Slide with lot of Hides), and when copying slides, use Insert New slide should copy as much as possible.

Is it Possible to Create an Equipment from a template - changes when th etemplate changes

A Reference Functional Location structure is a good template for a a Functional Location structure. For an equipment or equipment hierarchy there isn't a real equivalent. More Functionality is required than creating an equipment with Reference to an existing one. E.g. you have a fleet of vehicles that all have inspection points - copying a template equipment will create a new vehicle with the same inspection points - but what happens if you need to add an inspection point to all the vehicles that were copied from the template.
Does anyone know of standard functionality to do this?

Reference Equipment is also an Equipment, not like the concept of Reference Functional Location.
You can have separate category as Reference Equipment, in which you can create Reference Equipment in IE01.
While creating actual equipment, just put that Reference Equipment number, in IE01 then all the details will be copied including measuring points.

Changing the font size when sending email out from the iPad with MobileMe

Is there a way from the iPad, or from my MacBook to the iPad, that I can increase the size of the font when typing outgoing mail? I use MobileMe on both my iPad and MacBook. My sister has cataracts and she needs the type size larger than what is already set on the iPad outgoing mail. I can make the type size larger for my incoming mail - I guess I did it through iPad settings -but I can't seem to figure out how to make it larger for my outgoing mail. I would prefer to be able to answer her on my iPad than having to switch back to my Mac each time she writes. Thank you.

If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)
