Workflow Manager - Setup question

I have installed SQL server 2012 express and sharepoint 2013 on a windows 2008 server. I did this to "kick the tires" on the newest sharepoint version. I had previously chosen the development option but I always got stuck in the same spot. Workflow
manager. Specifically in registering the workflow service.
I am a newbie so I apologize if this is something relatively simple. I have tried numerous things to try and get 2013 workflows running on the server but I have not been successful. When I open up a site in designer and click on workflows, I only see 2010
workflows, and underneath that, I see "the option for the sharepoint 2013 workflow platform is not available because the workflow service is not configured on the server. Please contact your service administrator."
I have tried to register the workflow service using both http, and https. I did not check 'allow http' during workflow setup, but the site collection opens with HTTP://myservername/sites/workflows, so I added https to this site in IIS.
When I check the workflow management site in IIS, under browse web site, it says browse *:12290 (https). When I click on browse, it brings up an IE browser window and the URL is https://localhost:12290. It says that there is a problem with this website's
security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.
When I click on continue to this website, this appears on the page.
Root Scope2013-05-09T17:33:00.6172013-05-09T17:33:00.617/Microsoft.Workflow.Management.Security.WindowsSecurityConfigurationBUILTIN\AdministratorsActive
There is a little popup at the bottom saying that only secure content is displayed. When I click on show all content, this is what appears on the page:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
-<ScopeInfo xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/workflow/2012/xaml/activities" xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><DefaultWorkflowConfiguration/><Description>Root Scope</Description><LastModified>2013-05-09T17:33:00.617</LastModified><LastRevised>2013-05-09T17:33:00.617</LastRevised><Path>/</Path>-<SecurityConfigurations>-<ScopedSecurityConfiguration
i:type="WindowsSecurityConfiguration"><Name>Microsoft.Workflow.Management.Security.WindowsSecurityConfiguration</Name><WorkflowAdminGroupName>BUILTIN\Administrators</WorkflowAdminGroupName></ScopedSecurityConfiguration></SecurityConfigurations><Status>Active</Status></ScopeInfo>
Being that this is all on the same server, maybe I am not putting in the right info. I input the following into sharepoint 2013 management shell, run as administrator:
register-spworkflowservice -spsite "https://sharepoint-ki3/sites/workflows" -workflowhosturi "https:localhost:12291"
I get the following error message:
register-spworkflowservice : The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. Client ActivityId: e218b8a2-0655-4d09-8f4d-5cbc09f3ddf7. At line:1 char:1

+ CategoryInfo : InvalidData (Microsoft.SHare...workflowservice:RegisterSPWorkflowservice) [Register-spworkflowservice], WorkflowCommunicationException.

Any idea how to resolve this? Should I just install workflow manager on another machine and be done with it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for checking this out.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Workflow manager setup SQL serverinstance "Failure in connecting to SQL Server"

    Hi Guys
im having issues with installing work flow manager.
this installation has gone ok, but when I'm in the configuration stage, and type in the SQL server instance, it returns with failure in connecting to SQL server.
this happens with SSL and with out SSL
I look forward to your responses
    Kindest regards
    Jack

Make sure that you have installed workflow manager updates on the server.
    Follow these two steps first:
    Add
WFSetup account (installer account) to SQL Server security group and give him
    SysAdmin permission.
Add WFSetup to Workflow server in machine
administrator group, so user can login as worklfow administrator.
Enter database machine name and test it.

  • DV workflow audio setup question....

I have two new CS5 editors in my news department that are replacing some aging Avid NewsCutter XP systems.
On the Avid, there was a Mojo DV breakout box with Line in/out and DV in/out.  The Mojo breakout box was 6 Pin Firewire to the PC, and the DV DSR-25 was looped DV off of the Mojo.
On the new system with CS5 I don't have the mojo of coarse just planned to use DV.  I have the deck directly to the PC, and have my speakers to the line out of the PC.
What I have found is I can hear my audio fine during editing when the "Realtime Preview" is set to "Desktop Audio", but I get no audio on my deck when using export to tape.
If I change the Realtime Preview to External device it works through the deck but I get no audio from the timeline unless I am scrubbing back and forth.
My solution at this point is I must loop my speakers off of my DV deck to have this work all the time, but then I lose windows sounds unless I do some form of external mixer or use the second Balanced input on my speakers.  Also muting the speakers when recording Voice over tracks to the timeline might be an issue.
What would you all recommend to set this up. What was the normal DV tape based workflow?  The guy in India I spoke with couldn't help much.
All use of Premiere for us before now was on laptops at our bureau's, but because they send their video over FTP as a .mpg file we never had to export back to tape, and they are running CS3.
    Thank you,

The Realtime Playback and the Export are both set to DV output.  What would fix the issue is to have another set of radio buttons under the export option allowing you to have desktop audio during editing and External Device when exporting to tape.
I guess since use of tape is going away it won't matter.... When we upgrade to HD camera's we will likely have SD cards from them and will export to a format our production servers will use..
One of the other things I lose using External Device audio looping to the speakers off of the RCA jacks on the DSR-25, I can't use the great volume keys on the Premiere Pro keyboard.  They track to the windows sound control.
The Recording to the timeline is not and issue as the mute timeline audio setting kills it while laying down tracks.  Oh well can't win them all.
    Any other idea's....

  • Workflow manager 2013 installation????

We migrated to SP2013 and workflows breaked...on search we found need to install workflow manager.
Question: Should we install the workflow manager on Front End & Applications? Also is this required configuration wizard and restart of servers after installing it?
We have 2 Web Front End and 2 Application Servers.

    Hi Imran,
As Alex mentioned 2010 workflows don't workflow manager.
Workflow Manager is needed only for 2013 workflows
If you want your 2010 SPD workflows to run in 2013 platform, then you have to recreate the workflow as the assemblies and runtime are different now in SP2013. Also, there
is a change from XOML to XAML format. The activities which are implementations of activity classes, are implemented declaratively by using XAML.
This is what is stated in this link
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/chandru/archive/2013/04/14/upgrading-spd-2010-workflows-to-spd-2013-workflows.aspx

  • Workflow Manager - Workflow Status - NotStarted

    Hi,
I have been struggling to get a very basic workflow to run in our own instance of workflow manager. I understand that the issue is likely to be with our workflow manager setup however I am struggling to diagnose the issue.
So far I have confirmed that I can publish the workflow and start an instance using client.Workflows.Start("TestWorkflow"); but the workflow remains in the 'NotStarted' state. No code exceptions are thrown and if I use client.WaitForWorkflowCompletion("TestWorkflow",
instanceId1); the application will wait forever.
To help find the issue I have tried the following:
    Restart the server
    Uninstall/reinstall
I have proven the workflow executes in a simple workflow manager setup using an Azure VM, however I cannot get our own hosted instance to work.
I have checked the Microsoft-Worflow even logs (Admin, Operational, Analytic & Debug) and see nothing obvious.
I have enabled tracing of the System.Activities and Micrsoft.Activities however see nothing as the workflows are never started.
I have verified that both the front end website and back end service are running.
Can anyone offer advice on what else I could check as I have no exceptions or logs and I am at a loss? Its as if everything has worked to queue the workflow instance to be run but nothing is choosing to run it.
    Thanks,
    Craig

  • Workflow manager help (two questions)

My question is in two parts. To start off, I have workflow manager running on a SharePoint 2013 farm. the long term plan is to move the workflow farm to a dedicated server. At the time, when I built the workflow manager farm on the SharePoint servers (using
HTTP), I configured it so that the front end and back end services are running on all of the farm servers.  Workflows do work, but not without issues. Even while workflows are processing, the front end or back end service on one or two servers (out of
an eight server farm) at a time but never all at once.  The services restart; however will also stop on other servers after a few minutes.
My question is two-fold:  In the short term, will removing servers from the workflow farm resolve the issue or does workflow manager need to run on all the farm servers?  Second, when I eventually move the workflow farm to its own server will that
break existing workflows?  My plan is to build the new workflow farm, disconnect the existing farm, and reconnect sharepoint to the new one, or to add the additional server to my workflow farm, then remove the sharepoint servers.

Please watch this training video and make sure that you watch till end because these kind of questions were asked by the audience and were answered.
    http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/SharePoint-Conference/2014/SPC356
Regarding services, please check by running this WMF PS command get-wffarmstatus. If app-pool is stopped by hitting this command, then try to restart the app pool again from IIS and again hit this command. If again app pool stops then there is a problem
with the permissions of RunAs account of WMF.

  • After installing and configuring Workflow Manager and Service Bus, I'm getting 403.

I've spent the day installing SharePoint 2013 on a Windows Server 2012 environment. This server is not the domain controller. Following instructions on how to install and configure Workflow Manager and service bus, it appears although I'm following the instructions
(and I get no errors), something is not working.
If I try to go to the website that it creates in IIS
http://localhost:12291 I get a 403 error. Also if I perform the powershell query to get the port number "Get-WFFarm | ft WFMgmtHttpPort" I don't get any value returned to me.
Until I validate that the Workflow Manager is installed and working, I will not attempt to pair it to the SharePoint 2013 farm. Which hopefully makes this a Workflow Manager question not a SharePoint issue.
Can anyone offer any suggestions please? Should I even get a valid webpage if I hit localhost:12291? According to one walkthrough I've looked at I should get an XML display of workflow and security configurations.

I experienced the same two issues mentioned in this thread today.
Regarding  the proper XML not appearing at <workflowhost>:12291 I was experiencing the same with an error message in Chrome saying the caller lacked read permissions, and 403 in IE. I had checked IIS, database permissions and connections and more.
All of the setup messages and status checks were a-okay. I voted Zimo's comment as helpful because it cued me in to examine the service in Central Administration - where I found there was no administrator assigned to the workflow service. As soon as that was
done, the workflow host site was brows-able.
The resolution to SharePoint Designer not offering 2013 workflows as an option was in my case that there was an additional WFE on which I had not installed the Workflow Manager
Client. This is noted with a bright yellow box in the section about configuring workflow with HTTP here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj658588(v=office.15)

The error messages suggested to me that the issue was being caused by our proxy server. I have removed the proxy server from the equation by removing the proxy settings.
I then also tried to navigate to the url in the error messages. When i navigate to https://srv22.domain.com:9355/WorkflowDefaultNamespace/$STS/Windows/ i get a 400 Bad Request. When i change the address to https://srv22.domain.com:9355/WorkflowDefaultNamespace/$sts/Windows/
($sts in Lower Case rather than Upper Case) i get a response from the Workflow server.
I have searched high and low for a solution to this, and cannot find one, can anybody shed any light on the situation.
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

  • Solution Manager Setup & Configuartion

    Hi There
This is a question on Solution Manager setup.
We are in the process of configuring Solution manager. Basically we have installed two Sol Man 7.0 (Ehp1) systems development (SOD)  and Production (SOP)
We are insterested in configuring EWA and also would want CCMS monitoring (diagnostics) for our R3, SCM,and BI systems and we are not implementing CHARM, Service Desk or any other functionalities. I would like to know how to proceed with utilising the Dev and prod Solution manager systems for acheiving the above. I would like to get some suggestion on which system should be used to configure the EWA and monitoring. These are the two scenarios that I am considering and would like some suggestion on.
    Scenario1:
create Dev Landsacpe & Solution for Dev systems in SOD and Prod Landsacpe & Solution for Production systems in SOP
Turn on EWA and Diagnostics for Prod system in SOP
    Scenario2:
create Dev Landsacpe & Solution for Dev systems in SOD and a master landscape and solutions for all the systems (Dev& Prod) in SOP. Turn on EWA and Diagnostics for Prod systems in SOP
What are the pros and cons for the above options ? Is there any other better options ?
NOTE: We do not have PI(or XI) and have no other Landsacpe config except for BI systems which have been installed as a local SLD. Our R3 4.7 and SCM are on SAP BASIS 620. The idea is to turn on EWA and monitor only the production systems. We are not implementing any Business Solutions in Sol Man system.
    Thanks

This is the SAP recommended way to create your solutions. All Dev Systems into one solution and All PRD systems into a separate solution.
check this note 1257308 for EWA FAQs.

  • Organization Management Interview Questions and Answers  Extremely Urgent

    Hi,
Please let me know Organization Management Interview Questions and Answers. MOST MOST URGENT
Please do not post Link or website name and detail response will be highly appreciated.
    Very Respectfully,
    Sameer.
    SAP HR .

    Hi there,
Pl. find herewith the answers of the questions posted on the forum.
    1. What are plan versions used for?
Ans : Plan versions are scenarios in which you can create organizational plans.
    •     In the plan version which you have flagged as the active plan version, you create your current valid organizational plan. This is also the integration plan version which will be used if integration with Personnel Administration is active.
    •     You use additional plan versions to create additional organizational plans as planning scenarios.
As a rule, a plan version contains one organizational structure, that is, one root organizational unit. It is, however, possible to create more than one root organizational unit, that is more than one organizational structure in a plan version.
For more information on creating plan versions, see the Implementation Guide (IMG), under Personnel Management &#61614; Global Settings in Personnel Management &#61614; Plan Version Maintenance.
    2. What are the basic object types?
Ans. An organization object type has an attribute that refers to an object of the organization management (position, job, user, and so on). The organization object type is linked to a business object type.
    Example
The business object type BUS1001 (material) has the organization object type T024L (laboratory) as the attribute that on the other hand has an object of the organization management as the attribute. Thus, a specific material is linked with particular employees using an assigned laboratory.
    3. What is the difference between a job and a position?
Ans. Job is not a concrete, it is General holding various task to perform which is generic.(Eg: Manager, General Manager, Executive).
Positions are related to persons and Position is concrete and specific which are occupied by Persons. (Eg: Manager - HR, GM – HR, Executive - HR).
    4. What is the difference between an organizational unit and a work centre?
Ans. Work Centre : A work center is an organizational unit that represents a suitably-equipped zone where assigned operations can be performed. A zone is a physical location in a site dedicated to a specific function.
Organization Unit : Organizational object (object key O) used to form the basis of an organizational plan. Organizational units are functional units in an enterprise. According to how tasks are divided up within an enterprise, these can be departments, groups or project teams, for example.
Organizational units differ from other units in an enterprise such as personnel areas, company codes, business areas etc. These are used to depict structures (administration or accounting) in the corresponding components.
    5. Where can you maintain relationships between objects?
Ans. Infotype 1001 that defines the Relationships between different objects.
There are many types of possible relationships between different objects. Each individual relationship is actually a subtype or category of the Relationships infotype.
Certain relationships can only be assigned to certain objects. That means that when you create relationship infotype records, you must select a relationship that is suitable for the two objects involved. For example, a relationship between two organizational units might not make any sense for a work center and a job.
    6. What are the main areas of the Organization and Staffing user interfaces?
Ans. You use the user interface in the Organization and Staffing or Organization and Staffing (Workflow) view to create, display and edit organizational plans.
The user interface is divided into various areas, each of it which fulfills specific functions.
    Search Area
    Selection Area
    Overview Area
    Details Area
Together, the search area and the selection area make up the Object Manager.
    7. What is Expert Mode used for?
Ans. interface is used to create Org structure. Using Infotypes we can create Objects in Expert mode and we have to use different transactions to create various types of objects.  If the company needs to create a huge structure, we will use Simple maintenance, because it is user friendly that is it is easy to create a structure, the system automatically relationship between the objects.
    8. Can you create cost centers in Expert Mode?
Ans. Probably not. You create cost center assignments to assign a cost center to an organizational unit, or position.
When you create a cost center assignment, the system creates a relationship record between the organizational unit or position and the cost center. (This is relationship A/B 011.) No assignment percentage record can be entered.
    9. Can you assign people to jobs in Expert Mode?
    10. Can you use the organizational structure to create a matrix organization?
Ans. By depicting your organizational units and the hierarchical or matrix relationships between them, you model the organizational structure of your enterprise.
This organizational structure is the basis for the creation of an organizational plan, as every position in your enterprise is assigned to an organizational unit. This defines the reporting structure.
    11. In general structure maintenance, is it possible to represent the legal entity of organizational units?
    12. What is the Object Infotype (1000) used for?
Ans. Infotype that determines the existence of an organizational object.
As soon as you have created an object using this infotype, you can determine additional object characteristics and relationships to other objects using other infotypes.
To create new objects you must:
    •     Define a validity period for the object
    •     Provide an abbreviation to represent the object
    •     Provide a brief description of the object
The validity period you apply to the object automatically limits the validity of any infotype records you append to the object. The validity periods for appended infotype records cannot exceed that of the Object infotype.
The abbreviation assigned to an object in the system renders it easily identifiable. It is helpful to use easily recognizable abbreviations.
You can change abbreviations and descriptions at a later time by editing object infotype records. However, you cannot change an object’s validity period in this manner. This must be done using the Delimit function.
You can also delete the objects you create. However, if you delete an object the system erases all record of the object from the database. You should only delete objects if they are not valid at all (for example, if you create an object accidentally)
    13. What is the Relationships Infotype (1001) used for?
Ans. Infotype that defines the Relationships between different objects.
You indicate that a employee or user holds a position by creating a relationship infotype record between the position and the employee or user. Relationships between various organizational units form the organizational structure in your enterprise. You identify the tasks that the holder of a position must perform by creating relationship infotype records between individual tasks and a position.
Creating and editing relationship infotype records is an essential part of setting up information in the Organizational Management component. Without relationships, all you have are isolated pieces of information.
You must decide the types of relationship record you require for your organizational structure.
If you work in Infotype Maintenance, you must create relationship records manually. However, if you work in Simple Maintenance and Structural Graphics, the system creates certain relationships automatically.
    14. Which status can Infotypes in the Organizational Management component have?
Ans. Once you have created the basic framework of your organizational plan in Simple Maintenance, you can create and maintain all infotypes allowed for individual objects in your organizational plan. These can be the basic object types of Organizational Management – organizational unit, position, work center and task. You can also maintain object types, which do not belong to Organizational Management.
    15. What is an evaluation path?
Ans. An evaluation path describes a chain of relationships that exists between individual organizational objects in the organizational plan.
Evaluation paths are used in connection with the definition of roles and views.
The evaluation path O-S-P describes the relationship chain Organizational unit > Position > Employee.
Evaluation paths are used to select other objects from one particular organizational object. The system evaluates the organizational plan along the evaluation path.
Starting from an organizational unit, evaluation path O-S-P is used to establish all persons who belong to this organizational unit or subordinate organizational units via their positions.
    16. What is Managers Desktop used for?
Ans. Manager's Desktop assists in the performance of administrative and organizational management tasks. In addition to functions in Personnel Management, Manager's Desktop also covers other application components like Controlling, where it supports manual planning or the information system for cost centers.
    17. Is it possible to set up new evaluation paths in Customizing?
Ans. You can use the evaluation paths available or define your own. Before creating new evaluation paths, check the evaluation paths available as standard.
    18. Which situations require new evaluation paths?
Ans. When using an evaluation path in a view, you should consider the following:
Define the evaluation path in such a manner that the relationship chain always starts from a user (object type US in Organizational Management) and ends at an organizational unit, a position or a user.
When defining the evaluation path, use the Skip indicator in order not to overload the result of the evaluation.
    19. How do you set up integration between Personnel Administration and Organizational Management?
Ans. Integration between the Organizational Management and Personnel Administration components enables you to,
Use data from one component in the other
Keep data in the two components consistent
Basically its relationship between person and position.
Objects in the integration plan version in the Organizational Management component must also be contained in the following Personnel Administration tables:
    Tables                    Objects
    T528B and T528T     Positions
    T513S and T513     Jobs
    T527X                    Organizational units
If integration is active and you create or delete these objects in Organizational Management transactions, the system also creates or deletes the corresponding entries automatically in the tables mentioned above. Entries that were created automatically are indicated by a "P". You cannot change or delete them manually. Entries you create manually cannot have the "P" indicator (the entry cannot be maintained manually).
You can transfer either the long or the short texts of Organizational Management objects to the Personnel Administration tables. You do this in the Implementation Guide under Organizational Management -> Integration -> Integration with Personnel Administration -> Set Up Integration with Personnel Administration. If you change these control entries at a later date, you must also change the relevant table texts. To do that you use the report RHINTE10 (Prepare Integration (OM with PA)).
When you activate integration for the first time, you must ensure that the Personnel Administration and the Organizational Management databases are consistent. To do this, you use the reports:
    •        RHINTE00 (Adopt organizational assignment  (PA to PD))
    •        RHINTE10 (Prepare Integration (PD to PA))
    •        RHINTE20 (Check Program Integration PA - PD)
    •        RHINTE30 (Create Batch Input Folder for Infotype 0001)
The following table entries are also required:
    •        PLOGI PRELI in Customizing for Organizational Management (under Set Up Integration with Personnel Administration). This entry defines the standard position number.
    •        INTE in table T77FC
    •        INTE_PS, INTE_OSP, INTEBACK, INTECHEK and INTEGRAT in Customizing under Global Settings ® &#61472;Maintain Evaluation Paths.
These table entries are included in the SAP standard system. You must not change them.
Since integration enables you to create relationships between persons and positions (A/B 008), you may be required to include appropriate entries to control the validation of these relationships. You make the necessary settings for this check in Customizing under Global Settings ® Maintain Relationships.
    Sincerely,
    Devang Nandha

  • Additional workflow Mailer setup on Purchase Order

    Dear All,
We are running on R12 on 11.0.1.7 database. We have configured Workflow mailer notification and it seems to be running properly.. And the approver/approvee gets appropriate mails on appropriate time.
But our management requires additional customization on how this function should work, The requirement is as follows:
Problem Description: When a PO is raised it goes to his immediate superior who can approve the PO for less than Rs.100,000 and if it is above the stated amount, the respective PO requires further approval from the next superior in the hierarchy.
The workflow standard setup is such a way so that the user who has raised the PO gets a mail notification alerting that the PO has been approved if so.
Could you guide me a way in Oracle Ebiz R12 so that not only user who has raised the PO is alerted through mail if the PO is approved but also the immediate approver is also notified via mail for POs which is above Rs.100,000.
Note: PO above Rs.100,000 goes through immediate approver and then to the next approver in the hierarchy.
Thanks in advance for all ur support
    and Regards,
    Asif

  • Workflow manager .. certificate generation key or cert

Hello. Thanks for the time.  I was wondering if I can get some enlightment on the SP 2013 workflow manager  configuration.  In the technet video series one of the steps is to create a certificate and use that... but in most install docs
I've found the step is skipped and set to choose an auto generate a cert with a key... like the farm passphrase.  My question is really in regards to what is the difference and can we have that set for in production? or is the auto-generate only for dev
    and testing?

    Hi,
    Quote:
Under some circumstances, you must obtain and install Workflow Manager "issuer" certificates on SharePoint Server 2013. Here are the circumstances where you must install Workflow Manager certificates:
If SSL is enabled either on SharePoint Server 2013 (which is not the default) or on Workflow Manager (which is the default), AND
If SharePoint Server 2013 and Workflow Manager do not share a Certificate Authority, AND
If Workflow Manager is configured to generate self-signed certificates (which is the default).

    Thanks Andy,
I have googled activating workflow approvals in SP2013. However the sites I have read, refer to activating a feature that is not there on my server. So not sure how I should be doing this.
I have spent days looking into this. Is there an article somewhere that explains how to do this.
I will read up on people picker, it looks a little more complicated than I think setting up a document approval should be.
I only want the approver to be 1 of about 10 people. Is there any way just to set a simple list to pick the approver from?
