Working with Muse and other CMS outside Business Catalyst

Hi!
Well I have been using Adobe Muse and I love it so far, I have been experimenting with some animation on Edge and integrating it to Muse, also like it since I got rid of Flash players, and also has been looking at Business Catalyst. I like the last one very much but here is the thing... not all my clients are so convinced about that! They want to use their choice hosting service which is not Business Catalyst. And although it has pretty cool stuff clients want freedom of choosing something else. Is there any chance Muse will be able in a near future to integrate other CMS and let us designers to have that choice in an easy way?

Muse is such a great software but its really not going to get that exposed and used that much because of the fact that its not compatible with Giants like Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal
just to name a few, after all most websites are using cms software right???
Muse is so fast and easy to get around if only there's a future update to export your template as a wordpress template, with out knowing advance PHP,HTML,CSS and SQL it will be a great success. (Checkout artisteer)
You probably thinking so why don't you use artisteer well people like me prefer using one software brand in this case the adobe suit does everything for me why should I move on to a third party software I really don't know about that well and pay additional money?

The index.php file for wordpress isn't the index.php file in your theme file. Well, it is and it isn't.
As far as you as a theme developer is concerned, index.php is what you are interested in. As far as the browser is concerned it will first go to that top-level index file and the build the page dynamically and eventually, if that's what it needs, Wordpress will work its way to the appropriate theme file(s).
I am afraid that I use CS4 (CS6, here I come!) and never really got on with the whole local server thing for a wordpress site. I use Dreamweaver to edit then upload and test in the browser but then these days, I tend to do that for static sites as well. I do have an index.php in the root of the WP site I am currently working in and it has this in it:

SMB under 10.7.6 doesn't work with Lexmark and others

I understand that Apple has changed SMB -- and it is not incompatible with lots of applications and devices (e.g. Lexmark scanners than scan to Mac). Short of going back to Snow Leopard, is there a way to get the "old" SMB to replace the 10.7.6 SMB -- or is there a prayer that Apple will "fix" this problem?

Working with japanese and other char sets..

Hey all,
I primarily use XML Pull parsing becuase of its speed and my lack of need to validate a document.
One problem we are having is saving text input by a user into an xml when it is japanese characters. We can clearly see the japanese characters in the text field.
I have tried setting the encoding to utf-8, utf-16 and ucs-2. When I set it to utf-16, the output gets all garbled and it cant be read. Actually, in fairness, I am using a basic file writer and building up a StringBuffer with the xml I want, where I put the declaration tag at the top in and write it all out. At least on the mac, when I open the xml with textedit, I see a slew of japanese characters but no valid xml. Somehow it turns the entire file into japanese and not just the values within quotes.
What's the trick in writing xml out and reading it back in so that various languages can be saved and restored?

I am using a basic file writer and building up a StringBuffer with the xml I want,That isn't the trick. The trick is to use a FileWriter that has been set up to use the same encoding you put into the XML document's prolog. Just having the XML document declare that it's encoded in UTF-8 doesn't make it be encoded in UTF-8, that is your responsibility. Like this:Writer w = new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream(...), "UTF-8"));And make sure you have a text editor that can understand UTF-8 and also render Japanese characters properly.

How can I uninstall I.E. 11? and install I.E. 10? 11 does not work with Sharepoint and other applications

Windows Technical Preview for Enterprise does not give me an option to uninstall I.E. 11 or it does not list it as an update in installed updates. HELP! I need to be able to work in Sharepoint! Any help is appreciated.

I would add some information:
Uninstall Internet Explorer 11 is possible, but install an Internet Explorer 10 is not an option in Windows 10 Technical Preview, due to this is no such update existed for Windows 10 Technical Preview.

I can not get Firefox to play music backgrounds on pages in browsers it works in IE and other browsers but not firefox, what HTML or Jave script do I need too use to make them work?

I'm having a problem with firefox playing background music on some sites, it works with IE and other browsers but not with fire fox, what html or java script do I need to add to the pages so that they play the music?
I develop my pages in Front Page and I know that the music only works in IE, so if someone can tell me how to correct this problem as it is important as I use fire fox as my main browser.

If a website uses BGSOUND then it will only work in IE.
BGSOUND is not compatible with other browsers like Firefox.

Paragraph Styles - how do i Know they are working on my site...So Business Catalyst (blog) can inherit them?

I have created my site in Muse and have adding a business catalyst blog module.
I have created my paragraph styles and added some code to the modulestylesheet.css.
Why is the blog not reading the typekit fonts?
How do I know muse is rendering the fonts properly?
Any thoughts would be appreciated,

Hi Darren,
I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. Currently, you can only use and preview the free and open-source Typekit fonts in Muse.
If you're comfortable with a little HTML/CSS, the Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:

Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website.
However, we do see the value of being able to design in Muse with all the fonts in your Typekit library. This will require a deeper integration between Typekit & Muse. I'll give the team a nudge in this direction for you.
Also, I would be happy to take a look at a live url from the site. I'll be able to tell of the Typekit fonts are working and if not, suggest a solution. Let me know if you have any further questions and thanks for your patience.

What alternative CMS are there to Business Catalyst which work with Muse?

We built a new site in Muse and started using BC (for the CMS) over a year ago, and while we're very pleased with how the site now looks and performs, we feel we've outgrown BC/the CMS.
What alternatives do we have for the CMS that will work with Muse?
If it helps...
- We'd like a better search facility that can look at individual categories as we have several content holders such as News, Jobs, Features articles etc
- A page numbering system rather than a long list of items stored in the content holder (news items etc). IE at the bottom you see 1, 2, 3, 4, etc
- Tags - so key phrases or categories are suggested/shown with a value of news items

Just showing my support to your question. I have found Catalyst a NON-2015 CMS, and I would really like to hear we have more options for managing our Muse made websites.

Secure Zone login feature will only work if you host your website with Business catalyst.

Getting Business Catalyst Forms working with Muse in Webmarketing Package

Hi All,
I am having problems with forms using BC Webmarketing packaging and Muse.
When I past the html code for the BC form into a Muse page then upload it I get the following error message

and the web form is deleted from my Business Catalyst web Forms list.
What is the best solution for integration between BC and Muse.
I want to be continually updating aspects of both.
Can I quarantine some BC pages that Muse will not update?

The problem is that when I update the Muse template page with the BC code
{tag_pagecontent}
The Business Catalyst template it is based on this doesn't update or screws up the page.

Yes you can! It is a Basic level site but you can build it without Muse. I think you may need to create the site originally with Dreamweaver or Muse (meaning creating the site with Business Catalyst not building the site) but once that is done you can use any software to create the code for the site and upload it via SFTP. Hope that makes sense.

Yes you can. In iPhoto create a Album with the photos you want in it. You can drag them from your Events folder. In iTunes with your iPad connected go to Photos by cliking on your iPad. You can then select the album or events you want.

The one where it is not working (A) had an external microphone and camera attached earlier, and indeed it does work with that external microphone, but not with the internal microphone selected; and (B) had RealPlayer installed previously.

Download Audio driver from here.
Intructions how to install it in Vista/Win7.
Extract this driver with Winrar.
Open Device manager and expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
Right click on Either the High Definition Audio Device if you have the generic Microsoft drivers, or the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 if you have older Conexant drivers and choose "Update Driver Software..."
Click Browse my computer for driver software, then click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Click "Have Disk..." then Browse to the folder where the drivers were extracted .......\V64 for 64-bit Vista/Win7. Click OK.
Select one of the "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" models in the list, there will be multiple identical entries.
Click Next, and you're done.
I'm not sure which one from the list will work for You.

They admitted mobile flash is a disaster and are jumping on the HTML 5 bandwagon.
