Wow.... No such board.

Wondering where they find these people and if they even can read. I had posted problems witha NEO2 -FS2R motherboard that is no longger being sold. Had nothing but problems since day one. All other components blamed but my as also any other persons conclusion is a faulty board. Except here at MSI's Forum. Of Course. However no one who checks the posting wants to hear about a bad product. Even going as far as saying it doesn't exist. When the said person owns a much lower quality board then the one I have mentioned. It's amazing how when you say something about a problem with a companys product. It automatically becomes other components causing the problems. Unreal! Well when you can be unbiased on a product is where true interaction and problem solving begins. Like in my other posts. I've learned a valuable lesson with Msi products and I hope the problems that you the consumer came here to solve. Is any eye opener for your products. If a superior product? Why are you here in the first place? Please read this and think of what I've said. As far as MODerate answer to non existence. Here is the Toms Hardware review link. I would think someone as into MSI as much us. Would know of one of thier most highest recommened boards. However I un recommend but since not being sold anymore. Like previously said. Doesn't Matter. Here's the link to the missing LINK...lol

That board is not in the link you provided. As far as having a lesser quality board, it may be a board with fewer features, but I am perfectly happy with the quality. It runs 24/7 with the cpu at 100% and overclocked, all without issue.

    E-Series Calibrate.vi and SCXI Calibrate.vi

There is great documentation in the LabVIEW Help files about how to use the E Series Calibrate.vi for external calibration. For internal calibration: set the task id as the device number, operation as Self Calibrate, and write to the User EEProm area.
There is also a link to the LabVIEW Measurements Manual in the LabVIEW 6 Help documentation for SCXI Calibrate.vi The Measurements Manual covers SCXI calibration in Chapter 9.

  • Only 2GB RAM working in Windows 7 64-bit

    Hi there,
We have a 2x 3.2Ghz Quad-Core Mac Pro with 12GB DDR2 800 PC2 6400 (iRAM IR4GMP800K), running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and Boot Camp updated to 3.1. All 12GB of RAM show up just fine in Snow Leopard.
We just installed a new 1TB SATA drive, created a Boot Camp partition, and installed Windows 7 64-bit on it.
Installation went fine, and the OS seems to run okay. However, only 2GB are showing up in the System Properties. It does name the OS as Windows 7 64-bit.
We tried to install the 64-bit drivers in the Boot Camp / Drivers / Apple folder on the Snow Leopard DVD, but didn't seem to help.
    Any ideas?

Yes, purchased it retail. This is exactly what we bought and the disc that was installed:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116758
I was thinking about the actual RAM too. When we installed the iRAM, we pulled the 4GB stock Apple RAM. I can try to put that back in tomorrow I suppose, and see what happens.
Also worth noting the ram is installed as such:
    Board A: 4 x 2GB modules
    Board B: 2 x 2GB modules
Do you think the slots we used might have something to do with it?

  • Xserve disks and RAID questions

I have an Intel Xserve with its two original 750 GB disks. These are configured as RAID 1 (mirror).
I intend to purchase an identical disk as a hot spare and upgrade two old G4s with four each of the same disks as reserve web servers/backup.
The original disks are Seagate ST3750640NS which I can buy for £140 although the Apple price is £386 including the disk carrier. Apple refuses to sell the disk carriers separately.
The PCI boards I have found are:
    http://firmtek.stores.yahoo.net/sata1v4.html
    and
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/temposatax4i.html
    costing $120 and $200 respectively.
There are PC boards as cheap as $20 but these may have bootability and compatibility issues. There appears to be little information about the proportion of hard/soft RAID resulting from any of these boards.
    My questions are:
1 - Is there an inexpensive way of buying disk carriers for recent Xserves?
2 - Are there alternative satisfactory PCI boards?
3 - Do such boards differ much in terms of RAID types supported?
4 - Do such boards differ much in terms of the degree to which they are host computer independent? - ie more hard than soft and hence, presumably, faster.

    >1 - Is there an inexpensive way of buying disk carriers for recent Xserves?
I'm not aware of any sources other than Apple (at least that I'd trust).
    >2 - Are there alternative satisfactory PCI boards?
There are several manufacturers who make PCI RAID cards that you can use. You've listed two, but there are others including the RocketRAID series, and those from ACard.
    >3 - Do such boards differ much in terms of RAID types supported?
In my opinion, you get what you pay for.
Cheap cards may support RAID 0 and 1, while more expensive cards may add RAID 5. This may or may not be important for you if you're just mirroring.
There are going to be performance differences between each card. Since you're using G4's, though, you're going to have other bottlenecks, so disk speed isn't likely to be a big factor.
    >4 - Do such boards differ much in terms of the degree to which they are host computer independent? - ie more hard than soft and hence, presumably, faster.
If you get a card that works in a Mac, it's likely to also work in other hardware. The same can not necessarily be said the other way around - cheap PC-centric cards may not support Macs, mostly because of driver issues.
Note that you may also have issues with booting - not all cards can create bootable volumes which may leave you out in the cold if you don't check that first.

  • 1280x800 screen resolution is missing...

Hello. I just purchased a Mac Mini, and I'm using it without a monitor attached. Instead, we use it as a media server in our house, and we access it using a remote connection (Chicken of the VLC).
Unfortunately, I cannot get the Mac Mini's screen size to match my Macbook Pro, which is requiring painfully annoying scrolling in the virtual window. I can't change the Mac Mini's screen resolution to 1280x800, because that option is not available. How can I add that resolution to the list of possible options without a physical monitor attached?
I've looked at DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX but neither will do the trick without a monitor attached. Anyone have any ideas?

Unfortunately I am pretty certain that the resolution list used for headless configurations resides in firmware somewhere, not a normal file in the OS X file system. As such, it can't be written to with programs like DCX and SRX. This question comes up occasionally on this forum and I have never seen a good answer for it.
All you really need is for the mini to see a valid display ID. That can be done with something like a DVI Detective from Gefen, but that's an expensive way to go. I you have an old, broken monitor, you could rip out the interface board and hang it off the mini's video port. With many such boards the EDID circuit block will take power from the auxiliary power pin on the video cable so the board wouldn't need a power supply of its own in order to power up the EDID and comm channel. That's also a heavy hammer solution but could be cheaper if you can get a broken monitor for free somewhere.

  • In FINDER, all applications have .app after it now, why?

    HI!
Just got a new iMac. Used a firewire to migrate the date from my old eMac.
Anyway, now in FINDER, all of my applications have .app after them (iPhoto.app, Dictionary.app, iChat.app, etc).
When I click on something in Finder...I have to double click it and it opens the application directly. If i single click it highlights it in black.
Before, when I would single click on iPhoto (for example) it would open a new screen with the camera icon and information on iPhoto, then I would single click the camera icon and then iPhoto would open.
How do I get rid of the .app? I like the single click and not opening an app directly?
    Thanks!!

Wow! Such an easy solution to a problem that I could not figure out! Thank you so much.
Just to let you know, I even went down to the Apple store and asked then what to do and they didn't know! They told me to leave it alone.
    LOL!!
Why would they have the option of .app or not? I mean, what do some use a .app for when you know it is an application?
(to add....I have another question in iPhoto 08 if you are interested ........

  • How to acquire images on labview 6.0 using matrox meteor card acquisition?

i've a matrox meteor card acquisition , i want to display images on labview interface.

    Abdel,
You can use third-party data acquisition boards with LabVIEW; you just cannot configure such boards using MAX. MAX support is just one of the integration advantages that you get when you use NI hardware and software in conjunction.
LabVIEW can communicate with 3rd party hardware using the Call Library function found in the Advanced palette under the Functions Palette. If your hardware is provided with a driver-level DLL then LabVIEW can communicate with the hardware. However, you will need complete documentation of the DLL in order for you to create your own interface for the 3rd party hardware.
Another option would be if the manufacturer of the hardware provided LabVIEW VIs that controls their hardware. You will not be able to use the National Inst
ruments Data Acquisition (DAQ) VIs because those VIs use the NI-DAQ DLL, which is our driver-level software for our DAQ boards. Other companies use their own driver-level software to control their own hardware. Only National Instruments hardware uses the NI-DAQ driver which allows you to use the LabVIEW DAQ VIs.

    ==================================================================
Well, now that just doesn't make sense.
If there are so few people with the problem (.55%, right?) Why would there be "so many whiners"?
You'd think that less than 1% of the people who post here -- since this is, after all, an Apple love-fest and any dissent is roundly mocked -- you'd think that there would be only a tiny handful of "whiners."
There really is no problem with the phone, right?
Wow. This board is most unhelpful and decidedly disinclined to accept legitimate complaint or question.

  • Unstable green artifacts + "unable to duplicate problem" = ugh

I just posted a lengthy, lengthy rant on my blog--

--regarding some morale-sapping experiences I've had with my G4 Powerbook (PowerPC 1.33 GHz) with TekServe in NYC, and AppleCare in general.
Their service ostensibly was "good," only they failed to 1) find the problem I brought it in for, even after seeing it with their own eyes, and 2) fix said problem.
Which is this: I started getting "unstable green artifacts" on my screen. After I brought it in and they shipped it out to get looked at, they replaced the logicboard -- the second such board they have replaced in less than a calendar year.
After over two weeks in the "depot" in Texas somewhere, I got it back and they told me they were "unable to duplicate the problem." Of course, a day later, the green artifacts returned.
I'm already ramping up to fast-track a new computer purchase because I'm so disheartened but I would still like to know for my own sake just what exactly is going on with my computer. Does anyone have any info or similar problems? Is there some unofficial rumor that Apple is tacitly acknowledging with this product that isn't severe enough for a recall, etc.?
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Mesa/OpenGL problems

I've run across two problems in Solaris-10U4 Mesa which need fixing to allow compiling and running binaries that make use of these libraries.
    (1) /usr/X11/include/mesa/glext.h when compiling for 64-bit mode, yields various int64_t redeclaration errors. There is a block of defines which is duplicated in both glext.h and glxext.h, but they are not actually identical (as of patch125720-15). Applying the glxext.h changes to glext.h makes things work fine for 64-bit:

  • OpenGL problems, TI4800SE

    Hello,
I have a problem using OpenGL with my TI4800SE-card. I've had the card for about a year now, but just recently discovered that OpenGL doesn't seem to work at all. When I run GLinfo, the vendor, renderer and version fields are all blank.
I have a Gigabyte 7VRXP mainboard with the VIA KA-7 chipset (if I remember it correctly) and I have the 4in1 patch installed (including the VIA VGA patch).
Installing the latest Nvidia drivers for the graphics card didn't help.
If anyone has an idea of what might be wrong, I would really appreciate if you let me know.
