WRE54G (Version 3.04.01) only works about 1/2 the time.

Hello to all,
This is my set up.
ACTIONTEC with Wireless Gateway  (on the 1st floor) -> WRE54G (on the 2nd floor)-> computer/laptop/ Xbox 360.
Here's the situation, I have my Range Expander configured and set up to work with my wireless router. I've configured it using the CD/online web page (i.e. using the IP address of the RE) to configure it.
When ever I plan to use something which uses the internet, sometimes the RE works (blinking activity light) and sometimes it doesn't (solid activity light). Take my Xbox 360 for example, when I turn it on, I notice the activity light sometimes starts blinking, and shows a fabulous connection, but the next time I shut it off and turn it back on, the RE shows a solid blue activity light and poor connection on the 360.
It does the very same to a laptop I'm using near on the second floor, I've put the RE next to the laptop, and sometimes the RE works, and sometimes it doesn't.
Also, I will note, the link light is always blue, it has yet to turn red to indicate no connection.

Power cycle your Actiontec Gateway and your Linksys Range Expander for a minute...See if it corrects your problem...
If you continue to have problems you should upgrade/flash the Range Expander's firmware...
Firmware can be downloaded from here
After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the RE to factory defaults, then setup the RE again from scratch...Please do this now and see if it corrects your problem...

    I understood this error after launch due to the servers being down, but I continue to have this issue when attempting to use Siri the majority of the time. Starting to get worried!

    I've been getting this problem with iOS7, but not as badly as you mention.  75% of the time Siri is OK, but it's definitely slower than with iOS6.  Usually, when there is a problem, I just immediately repeat my request and it works.
    Although the delays are small - it may take 5 to 10 seconds to get Siri to respond - the great benefit of Siri is that it's quicker to do things with Siri than by other means: if it becomes slow, then a lot of the value of Siri disappears.
    I hope these are just teething performance issues that Apple can fix in the next release.

  • Power button fails to work about 95% of the time

    Hello,
    I have a Toshiba P205-S6267 that is having a strange issue.
    About 95% of the time the power button fails to work when on battery, and it fails 100% of the time when the AC adapter is plugged in.
    I am getting pretty stumped on this one and starting to think I may need to replace the 7-button circuit under the power button.  Before I spend the $55 to do that, I wanted to see if anyone had any advice for me.
    Here are the things I have tried.
    - the standard unplug the power / battery and wait a few minutes then plug it back in.
    - tried this only on battery, same issue
    - tried only on AC, won't power up at all
    - checked AC adapter with multimeter and it was outputting the correct voltage (also it keeps the battery charged still)
    - removed the keyboard and speaker cover then reseated the 7-button circuit
    - cleaned the ribbon cable contacts and reseated the ribbon cable for the circuit
    - removed RAM and tried each stick by itself, no change.
    I'm kind of lost here.  Again, I am probably at a point where I need to replace hardware but I don't want to drop the cash without some kind of verification that I'm not retarded. 
    Any assistance or advice is welcome.  Thank you.

    Ah, I've been playing around with this and it seems I was mistaken about the nature of the problem.
    It is deterministic, for one. It seemed nondeterministic because the action that makes the glasspane paint() fail is the act of giving focus to the JInternalFrame that the glasspane belongs to.
    Why does giving focus to a JInternalFrame disable that frame's GlassPane? I can take focus away from it, and the repaint() method starts working again.

  • Why does the highlight feature seem not to work about 1/2 the time in various ibooks.  I'm trying to take notes and about 50 pages into a book the highlight feature stopped working.

    I've long noted that the highlight feature in ibooks is clunky and fairly limited in it's note-taking features, but the last two books I've read I've had trouble getting the highlight feature to work at all.  I click and drag over text and nothing happens.  I try with command depressed and nothing happens.  If I double click a bunch it will eventually highlight one word, but nothing more.  What gives?
    Also, not to be snarky, but why can't I seem to find a button that would read text to speach for me?  How do blind people use this service, or illiterate, or dyslexic, or people like myself who can learn far more from hearing then from reading. 
    And why does the text of a book often render so that it's haf cut off of the page?

    There is a button for speech within the iBooks menu. Edit > Speech. You might be better off buying Audiobooks. You can get them from the iTunes Store or Audible.com

    The HTC hotspot works fine with everything else I connect to it.

    I have to say this is my first venture into Apple products and I have always wanted to get away from my windows based laptop to get a MacBook, the problems I have had (flash player etc) & continue to have (as above) are putting me right off swapping over. I HATE technology that doesn't work and my ipad has been hard work!

    I stated my ipad as being an ipad2, but I now think it is a 3??? It was new Jan this year and is the 64gb retina display version.
    I really would like to get to the bottom on this problem wit mobile hotspots as it is sitting on my desk next to me now and I cannot get it to connect to my HTC mobile hotspot!!!! It might be taking a flying lesson soon at this rate!!! Grrrrrrr...........

  • Brand new laserjet pro 400 only prints about 1" down the left side of the page

    I just unboxed a brand new Laserjet Pro 400 for a teacher, and upon running a test print, the printer only prints about 1" of the text down the left side of the page.  The text fades to white, and the entire remainder of the page is blank!  I re-seated the toner cardtridges, ran the cleaning program, and am still getting the same results!  Any suggestions?  A scan of the page is attached.  It came out this way after each solution that I tried!

  • When I start my computer in the morning, I can't get Firefox to open about 50% of the time. If I restart my computer it works fine.

I've waited approximatly 15 minutes and it still does not open, so it is not that it is loading slowly. Restarting my computer resolves the problem and Firefox works fine. I have Firefox set to always "run as administrator".

    P.S It might also be a good idea to completely remove all of your Firefox user data and settings (profiles.ini file and Profiles folder) when you [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer|remove the Firefox application from your computer]]. On OS X 10.7 or above:

    My CD/DVD drive only works when I stuff the CD/DVD in the drive EXTRA hard. If I just try to put in with normal force (that at one time worked) it spins the disc around, makes a spinning noise, and then ejects it. I'm taking it to the Apple Store soon.     It sounds like the spring that loads the drive has gotten jammed by something. This can often happen if you use CDs with sticky labels, or do anything to label the discs directly. As a result of issues like these, I've not labeled any discs directly, and instead store the in jewelcases, and purchase them prepackaged in jewelcases to avoid such issues.

  • ISight only works when it's the ONLY firewire device?

    I have connected the iSight to both the firewire 400 and firewire 800 ports. It only works when it is the only device connected to the port.
    If I connect it to a hard drive, it works if and only if the hard drive is off. When I turn the drive on, the iSight ceases functioning. When I connect it to a hub, it works if and only if there are no other devices connected to the hub that are on.
    Is there a trick to getting the iSight working with other devices?

We get the internet via cable company and their modem is upstairs and the Time Capsule is downstairs in the basement. The latest error message was about it could not backup as it was already in use (should have written it down before clicking OK and moving on.

    Reset the SMC and PRAM
    SMC Reset:
    Shut down the MacBook Pro.
    Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    Press the power button to turn on the computer. 
    PRAM:
    Shut down the MacBook Pro.
    Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R.
    Turn on the computer.
    Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
