WriteToTextFile -- how to prompt ONCE??

how do i get (text) File I/O VI's to prompt
only ONCE for a filepath and then use that
from then on?
if i leave FilePath unwired, (because i want
the user prompted) i get prompted for
file location on EACH ITERATION, even with
"Append" wired True. that is, the data is being
appeneded, but it constanly brings up the file dialogue box.
i want it to come up only the first time upon program
execution.
-tony

Put a shift register on the loop containing the file write function. Connect the left shift register node to the file path input to the write vi. Connect the file path output from the write vi to the right shift register node. Do NOT initialize the shift register.
The first time you run the vi, the shift register will contain an empty path and so prompt you for a file to write. The path to the resulting file will be put into the shift register so the 2nd time through the loop the routine won't ask for a file name.

  • How to use once SC in Another SC, and How use one DC in another DC

    Hi all,
    I am new to DC and SC's concetp.
    we have got two  abc.sca  and xyz.sca files which contains  some DC's kind of the functionality. So, now we need to create new SC called MyComp.sca and i need to create one new DC caleed "display_dc" in this.
    So this DC need to call the DC's which are available in the above .sca files. how to build this.
    How to use once .sca file in another.
    How to call dc from another sca of the dc.
    how to use from one dc to another dc.
    do i need to define the depency in the SLD when i am create the new SCA with using SCA files.?
    REgards
    Vijay

    I will try to give you a place to begin...
    SC are Software Components. Think of them as development products, like MS Word or Adobe Reader. They include sets of DCs, development components. DCs are smaller units, like programs and libraries in the SCs.
    Software architects define SCs in SLD and also define two types of dependencies between them:
    - build time (required to compile and build)
    - runtime (required during execution)
    SCs themselves are "buckets" for DCs, so dependencies between SCs describe dependencies between DCs they include. Think of that the same way as we we say "SAP Visual Admin (SC) depends on JDK (SC)". It means that swing apps of Visual admin (DCs) need java classes packaged in JDK (DCs).
    This will help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/42/d27865d006136ae10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
    DCs interact between themselves by exposing "public parts" (SAP webdynpro terminology), allowing one DC to access objects of another DC.
    Here it explained in more details:

    I tried to explain it in asimple terms.
    Hope it helped.

    Bruce777 solved this for me, thank you Bruce! My printer now works perfectly on my new wifi network!
    Bruce's  instructions, for anyone else having the same issue:
    - delete any previously set up printers
    - scrub old hp software and update software to get the hp 2.8 drivers
    - remove the usb cable from the printer if you have one connected
    - reset the printer network to hpsetup (hold down the power button and press network button 2x and then cancel 3x, release power button.)
    - print out the wireless network test report (hold down the network button and press the update button 2x). verify the network name / ssid is hsetup
    - got to sys prefs > network and change the mac wireless network to hpsetup
    - go to the sys pref > print scan
    - add the HP 8000 printer
    - click on the options and supplies button and click on the Show Printer Webpage
    - click on the networking tab > wireless in the left pane > start network wizard and change the network from hpsetup to your network
    - finish (this page may freeze up.  close the browser)
    - go back to the sys prefs and change the wireless network back to your networt
    - go to the printer and print out the wireless network test report (press network button and update button 2x).  Check that the SSID is your network
    - go to sys prefs > print scan > select your printer > options & supplies > show printer webpage > network info (check ssid and compare to wireless network test report)
    - try printing something to your printer.  It might take a little time the first print.

  • How to prompt users to save changes?

    Hi,
    I am using WAD to develop planning layouts for BIIP.
    I am curious as how to prompt the user to save the changes thay made to the data on the layout if they decide to navigate away from the page.
    Any suggestions?
    thank you

    Hi AG
    Did you find the place choosing the options? I didn't remenber them all, you can try to search these options.If you want to change the default value of this option, you can go to System Administration --> System Configuration --> Service Configuration --> Applications --> com.sap.portal.epcf.loader --> services --> epcfloader. Set the value of Workprotect.mode.default, which default is 1, and other three options are related to 2, 3, 4.
    Best regards.

    They can use Acrobat to save the form.
    If they only have Adobe Reader, they need to Reader extend the form, to enable Adobe Reader to save the form with data.

  • 10g - Calendar Prompt -- once selecting date -go - timestamp is coming.

    10g - Once I select date in the calendar prompt and after click on GO it is appending timestamp.
    I am using col(datetime) < Calenderprompt value.
    Colum format - dd-mm-yyyy
    Could you please explain me how to work with calendar prompt on date,datetime.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try this, cast datetime to date and use the same in prompt as well as in your report for 'is prompted'
    CAST(SUBSTRING(CAST(COL AS CHAR(10)) FROM 1 FOR 10) AS DATE)

  • How to prompt for user input in Forms

    How do I prompt for user input in Forms?
    I am writing a piece of code where the user may choose, by clicking either of three buttons on an alert, to have the system assign a value to a variable, to input a value or to do neither?
    If the user chooses to input the value I want to update a set of database fields with the value.
    I have thought about showing a view where the value may be entered into a field displayed on that view. The value will be assigned to the variable by the user clicking a command button. The question I have in this case though, is whether, after the command button is clicked, control will be passed back to the code that called the view in the first place?

    Desgordon,
    This can be accomplished by displaying your message to the user using an Alert. I use 3 different Alerts (Note, Caution and Stop) in my forms and they are inherited from a central source file (such as an Object Library or a Template Form) so they can be used by all of my Forms. You can set the text of the Alert using the SET_ALERT_PROPERTY() built-in and capture what button the user presses with the SHOW_ALERT() built-in. Additionally, if you need more than one button to be displayed in an alert, you use the SET_ALERT_BUTTON_PROPERTY() built-in to rename the default button or to add up to a total of three buttons in the alert. Here's an example:
    DECLARE
       Alert_ID       ALERT;
       v_AlertType    VARCHAR2(10) := 'CAUTION';
       v_AlertTitle     VARCHAR2(25);
       v_AlertText    VARCHAR2(150);
       n_AlertButton  NUMBER;
    BEGIN
       v_AlertTitle := 'Title of Alert';
       v_AlertText := 'This is message to the user.';
       /* Code leading up to the decision point. */
       alert_id := FIND_ALERT(v_AlertType);
       /* Note: I only set the Label of Button 2 because the default button 1 label is 'OK' */
       SET_ALERT_BUTTON_PROPERTY(v_AlertType, ALERT_BUTTON2, LABEL, 'Cancel');
       SET_ALERT_PROPERTY(Alert_ID, v_AlertTitle, v_AlertText);
       n_AlertButton := SHOW_ALERT(Alert_ID);
      /* Now I can test the value of n_AlertButton for 1 or 2 to find out what button the user selected. */
      IF ( n_AlertButton = 1 ) THEN
         /* Do something, because the user selected 'OK' */
      ELSE
         /* It is assumed at this point that the user selected 'CANCEL' */
         /* Stop processing any further. */
         RAISE form_trigger_error;
      END IF;
    END:Hope this helps.

    But if you call your procedure in that button then yes 'control will be passed back to the code'...

  • Why doesn't the input file dialog prompt once I attach it to a device?

    For my project I am require to move a 3-axis robot from a list of set co-ordinates to either cut into/draw a picture. The only way I can thnk of doing this is by reading the co-ordinates from a spread sheet and timing it to read the co-ordinates and send the information to the straight-line move function (Softmotion).
    The problem occurs once I try to run the program while it's connected to the devices (motors). The file dialog prompt no longer shows up and Error 43 shows up right away. I traced the problem to the read from spread sheet vi, but I am not sure what to do because it is a standard function in labview.
    If you could take a look and give me some input it would be greatly appriciated, I've been learning labview on my own for about a month so if you can please use simple explinations.

    Thanks for the help so far, so I did as you said and added a set path for the program to retreive the file from. I've tested the program by running it in my computer and the file reads properly so my assume is the file is being located and data is taken properly.
    But I still run into the same error when I run it in cRio. I'm still being told labview cannot locate the file.

  • How to prompt user to enter City & print out the Country it belongs to?

    I have one table with “country“ column and “city” column. I need to prompt the user to enter the city name. Then the program should print which country it belongs to. As an example, if user enters “Paris”, program should recognize that it’s in “France” and it should print it out as follows:
    Paris ------------------France
    Here’s my code:
    ACCEPT p_1 PROMPT 'Please enter the city name:'
    DECLARE
      v_parent_name ccname.parent_name%TYPE:= '&p_1';
      v_child_name ccname.child_name%TYPE  := '&p_1';
      CURSOR reg_cur
      IS
        SELECT child_name, parent_name INTO v_child_name, v_parent_name FROM ccname;
    BEGIN
      FOR reg_rec IN reg_cur
      LOOP
        DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(UPPER(RPAD(v_child_name, 15)) || '      ' || UPPER(RPAD(v_parent_name, 15)));
        FETCH reg_cur INTO v_child_name, v_parent_name;
      END LOOP;
    END;Any ideas on how I can implement that?

    Hi,
    Do you want people to help you? Then try to help them. Post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements), some parameters you might want to pass, and the results you would want from that sample data for each of the parameters.
    If you can use commonly available tables, such as those in the scott or hr schemas, to show your problem, then you don't have to post any sample data; just the parameters (if any) and results.
    For example, your problem is:
    "I have a table with city and country columns. I want to input a city, and display the country from that same row." That's a lot like:
    "The scott.emp table has ename and job columns. I want to input an ename and display the job from that same row."
    So, given the name SCOTT, you would want this output:
    ENAME      JOB
    SCOTT      ANALYSTor, given MILLER you would want:
    ENAME      JOB
    MILLER     CLERKHere's one way to do that in SQL*Plus:
    ACCEPT p_ename PROMPT 'Please enter the employee name: '
    SELECT     ename
    ,     job
    FROM     scott.emp
    WHERE     ename     = '&p_ename'
    ;Don't use a meaningless name, like p_1, when you can use a helpful name, like p_ename.
    As Billy pointed out, PL/SQL wasn't designed for user interaction like this. There's no point in trying to use PL/SQL to do it.
    I hope that answers your question.
    If not, please help me understand, so I can do a better job next time. Don't just say "This doesn't work", or "This is not what I'm trying to get", or "Any other ideas?". Those things don't help anyone understand anything. Point out where the suggested soloution is not working, explain what you are trying to get, and give specific examples.
