This is something that is a little different with each
OS. You either need to mount the drive of the remote
computer, or you use a string that includes the computer
name, usually called a UNC name.
Assuming you are on a PC, try using something like
\\PCName\d:\directory\file.
This is the path to the file, Open it, Write to it, and
Close it. If you have problems, it may very well be a
permissions problem. The remote computer will have to
allow you to write to the disk. Typically this will
involve going to the remote computer and publishing
the drive or directory.
Once you have permission and figure out what the path
looks like, you
just use the regular file I/O functions.
This is the most straightforward approach and like I say,
its done slightly different on different OSes. For
computers that are more remote, or when you are changing
OSes, you can use ftp client VIs or lots of other tools.

The events and projects folders have to be on the top level of the drive for FCP to recognize them.

    Where are you looking?
    Here:
    User>Library>Application Support>iWeb
Keep in mind that your Library folder is hidden by default in Mountain Lion.
To find it, hold down the option key and choose the Go menu in the Finder.
You might also want to try posting your question over in the iWeb area.

  • Copy FCP Project File to Another Computer - Version of FCP

    Hi
I just started using the Media Manager, and it works great for copying RAW footage, and proejct files to another computer.
    Just wondering;
In the tests I've conducted, the Project File got copied just fine to a system that contained the same FCP Version (5.1), as the source drive/system.
If I copy Raw Media and a Project File to another system that has version 6, will I be able to re-copy it back into my version; 5.1?
    Thanx

    Hello and thank you
"You would then need to export an XML file out of FCP6, to work with it in FCP5"
Can this 'XML file' behave like an ordinary edited clip in the timeline? Can it be edited? Or will this 'XML file' be an un-editable movie type file when placed back on the timeline in 5.1?
    Know what I mean?

Since updating to OS X Yosemite, I am unable to save files into another computer or server. I have to save it on my desktop and then drag it into the server. How do i correct this?

Ok this worked to solve the error.
Use cmd prompt in windows 7 or 8 and run as admin:
    sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
    sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled
No need for all that power shell nonsense as shown elsewhere for windows 8.
That's it. Also force smb2 disabling on the apple side for good measure.
With the above I was able to network mavericks and windows 8.1 pro flawlessly. He issues I had before where I could not read video, ISO and audio files (but could open documents and pictures from the windows machine connected to an apple network share folder went away.

    Restore JSON backup:
    * Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Restore > Choose File

How do i turn off home sharing and transfer my ITunes library to another computer?

Your music will only be where you put it.  You can download the itunes program and sign into your account on any computer, but your music/content will not be there unless you put it there.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod.  File>Transfer Purchases

  • How can I create a file to another computer

    Hi.
I was wondering how can I create or write a txt file but in another computer(Server).
For instance, using the BufferedWriter to write in my computer I can do.
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("C://hello.txt", false));
There is a way to write directly to the server? do I need to create a Server/Client protocol? it can do directly by BufferWriter?
Thank you, any help it will be very great.
    Chris

if the server is windows based (or runs SAMBA) then it is very easy to just use the host machine's path.
    i.e.
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("\\\\Server\\C\\hello.txt", false));
where the server's hostname is 'Server"
and you have shared a directory called "C"

First of all you should have the network connection between the system with enough Access Right without of probing for user name every time you do Access. As we don't which OS you are using.
    Mutliplexing ;-
    Shutdown
Copy the Control to the Required destination
    Rename the file appopriately.
Add the path and new control file in the initialization file.
    startup.
But I could not able to what is the use of multiplexing on different systems, as moragan you do it on Single Server but different Drives, that makes life easier.

  • How to relocate one of the control files on another computer?

    Hi ,
I have created a database(10g Release 2) on a windows xp laptop. The control_files parameter is:
C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL01.CTL, C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL02.CTL, C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL03.CTL *, and I use spfile* . Now, I would want to move the third control file(C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL03.CTL) to a disk on another computer ( which is a desktop running Windows XP SP2).The laptop and the desktop are on the same network, the laptop IP address is 192.168.0.1, and the desktop IP address is 192.168.0.2.On the desktop, I have a directory named CONTROL_FILES_DIR on a disk partition named C,*and using Windows appropriate GUI, I have shared this directory CONTROL_FILES_DIR , and given to all users the read and write rights on this CONTROL_FILES_DIR directory*. Then, I take the following steps:
    a- In sql*plus(on the laptop), I execute
    alter system set control_files='C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL01.CTL', 'C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL02.CTL', '\\192.168.0.2\C:\CONTROL_FILES_DIR\CONTROL03.CTL'  SCOPE=SPFILEb- Then , in sql*plus(on the laptop), I execute
shutdown immediate;c- Now, I copy CONTROL03.CTL file (on the laptop) and paste it in the directory C:\CONTROL_FILES_DIR on the desktop.
    d-Now, in sql*plus(on the laptop), I execute
    connect /as sysdba e-And,after the step d, I execute(in sql*plus, on the laptop):
startupAnd sql*plus displays the message : ORA-00205 error in identifying control file; check alert log .
I read the alert log file , and it was written:
    ORA-00202: control file: '\\192.168.0.2\C:\CONTROL_FILES_DIR\CONTROL03.CTL'

Thanks.Even if you get this to work one time, the very operation of your db is dependent on the availability of that second computer. Not a wise design decision. What problem are you trying to solve with this technique?
