Wrong home user after log in
g5 mac pro, 10.5.8.
After a failed backup and i login in to my home user, I am in another user space which was deleted in the past. So the password I use to log in with the correct name takes me to an old user with it's preferences such as desktop, iPhoto library, etc. I see 2 home icons, one with blessed folders, and mine which has regular folders. I can browse my folders. Some of them have items in them, others are now empty. My iPhoto library now is a XML file dreamweaver wants to open.
I realize there is not much I can do at this point, Just wondering how to avoid this issue in the future.

Did you maybe rename your home folder at some point?
In System Preferences>Accounts, how may accounts are shown there?

Wrong Home server after Mailbox move
I have a Unity 4.0.3 server. After moving mailboxes from one server to a new server Unity admin does not update the home server. The system works correctly.
What are the RpcClientAccessServer settings of your mailbox databases? Run the following to find out:
Get-MailboxDatabase | Fl Name, RpcClientAccessServer
From what you describe, they are pointing to your mailbox servers, and not to your CAS or CAS Array. If you do not have a CAS Array, you should deploy one. See the following for information:

The mailbox database RpcClientAccessServer should be set to the FQDN of your CAS Array (or a CAS, if you don't have one - but Outlook failover if a CAS dies will be manual). If it is set properly, your two questions are answered - that is how

OIPM 11g - EBIZ Error after logging to OIPM Console
Hi All,
We are trying to integrate OIPM 11g and Ebiz R12, when we click on zoom button at Ebiz we can open OIPM URL we are logging as admin user after logging we can see error console with only error msg as Error ID : xxxxxxx and Pls contact Sys Admin with error id.

OD users cannot log on without server home directory
I am new to OD and am trying to configure a working setup for a few Macs on the network. The server is set up as an OD master, and while we are running Active Directory, the Mac server is not integrated into the AD network. DHCP and DNS are handled by the server that provides AD.
I have set up a few test users and bound a Mac to the OD server for testing. I've found that if I don't specify a home directory for a particular user in workgroup manager (i.e. I just leave it at (none)), the user cannot log on to the bound Mac. The log in window begins to slide as if it is accepting the password, then stops and shakes and brings me back to the login window without any error message. If I specify a home directory on the server, it will then accept the username and password, show that I am logging in as said user, then display the message, "You are unable to log in to the user account [user] at this time. Logging into the account failed because an error occurred."
I'm guessing the error message relates to a permissions issue with the way the home directories are set up. But honestly, I'd rather the users just have their home directories stored locally rather than on the server. How do I configure it so that the users are able to log on and their home directories are stored locally?

DC on VM Restored after crash - Does Not allow PCs to Join Domain, or Domain Users to Log in
We currently had a RAID array crash and rebuilt our main server which housed VMs for our Web and DC.
The main server was restored from a bare-metal backup from 6 months prior to the latest backup of the VMs (not sure if pertinent)
Since the Restore, Domain computers cannot access file shares on the main server or VMs - "unspecified network error

Removed the main server from the Domain to re-join it due to some issues with logging in (even with a Domain Admin account) - Found that any PC removed from the domain was no longer able
to rejoin - Receive (Network path was not found error)
Domain Users cannot log in to their computers - Error reads "The trust relationship between this computer and the domain has been lost" - Domain Admin accounts can log in without
problem.
Have been working on it for two weeks and tried most of the things that I have found in others questions for related

All PCs can ping the DC, and get name resolution. Checked IPs, DNS on both WS and DC (DC points to its own IP address with no other DNS), Forwarders for DNS appear to be working,
as normal DNS name resolution and internet access works on all PCs. Have tried disabling NIC card and installing another NIC. All searches keep pointing back at the same things that I have tried. I feel like I am missing something stupid.
Please helpThe backup you used is too old. That is why your clients are experiencing trust relationship failures: the computer passwords are no longer matching so they are failing to connect to AD. You need to disjoin and join them again.
I understand that this is the only DC you have so please make sure that the DC is not multihomed, that it points to its private IP address as primary DNS server and 127.0.0.1 as secondary one. Also, you might need to rebuild your SYSVOL folder if you keep

After software update, users cannot log into Xserve
We have an Xserve running 10.6.7. We just did an software update and rebooted the server. Something broke and at this point, only local users can log in, such as the administrator account. None of the users in the LDAP db can log in. I cannot access their accounts from Workgroup Manager, either, because it posts an LDAP error.
We do have a full backup of that drive from 24 hours ago, but don't want to just blindly overwrite the whole drive. Are there specific files I could restore?
Or, is there a way to correct what's wrong with LDAP?Sadly we are currently having problems with ldap and directoryservices after the 10.6.7 update. It is not the same thing you are seeing but none the less.
My advice would be to get that backup up and running. You could copy the backup to an external drive and try and boot off of it and see how that works if its ok I would revert back and hold off on updates. -
Multiple users in a class room enviroment / deleting home folders after use

I'm administrating a class room environment, where my students log on using Active Directory accounts. I would like to clean up the home folders after the users log out, so their profiles would be reseted when they log in next time. Is there any way to achieve this?

MThe usual way is :-
Create an account say "default".
Login with "default" and set up that account exactly how you want all the users to get. For example dock settings and browser home page etc.
Tidy up the account, empty the trash, delete recent servers, clear browser caches etc.
Login as root
Delete the keychain of the "default" account.
Copy all the home folders of default to /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj
Run repair permissions
Now all new users will get these home folders and settings when they logon.
Now all you have to do is use a script that deletes the home folders of a students when they logout
so they then get the default set when they login again.
Here is an example of one :-

N.B. OS X uses the variable $1 for the currently logged in user.
The easiest way to get this running when they logout out, is to use Mike Bombich's loginwindow manager. It complains a bit when you open it to set it up, but it still does the job with login and logout scripts.

Users cannot log into Remote Desktop after 3/11/2015 update!
I have a simple network where users can log into a Windows SBS 2008 server with Remote Desktop to access various applications. This worked quite smoothly until this morning, after the updates of last evening. (3/11/2015)
When users tried to log into the Remote Desktop this morning their credentials were rejected, as if their username and/or password were incorrect. Even I (as the administrator) could not log in remotely. Finally I connected a monitor and keyboard
directly to the server and was able to log in without an issue. After logging in directly I was able to connect through remote desktop.
This method worked for my other users as well - after I logged them in directly they were able to use remote desktop no problem.
The trouble is that I have a couple dozen users, and this is an issue that should not be occurring. What happened in the last update to cause remote desktop to reject users credentials? Why does it only work after the user logs in directly?
And most importantly, how do I fix this?
A few notes:
Simply browsing for files on the server also asks for the user's name and password, and this works as well. This is only a remote desktop issue.
I have already checked to make sure the domain was correct. It was.
I have already checked to make sure the usernames and passwords were correct. They were.
I have already checked to make sure this was not a unique issue for a single (or limited number) of users. This issue effected
all users all the network.

DustinI'm curious here... If the server is rebooted, does it put the RDS users back into a "credentials failed" situation? If so, could you please have them log in with credentials:
domain.local\username (I suspect they may be currently using domain\username)
and see if that fixes the RDS problem without having to first log into the server directly.
The ".local" may be ".lan" or ".somethingelse" depending on how you initially configured your domain, but the default for SBS 2008 is ".local"

You are correct that we've been using domain\username. I tried domain.local\username (which is the way we've set up), and that did not work either.

[solved] pm-utils, how to run a script as logged-in user AFTER resume
All the scripts in /etc/pm/sleep.d are run as root. Is there any way for me to put a script such that it runs as my logged-in user AFTER all the scripts in /etc/pm/sleep.d. I tried putting su -c "command" - <username> but that doesn't have the full user environment, hence dbus session bus doesn't work yet.

The scripts in /etc/pm/sleep.d are called in numeric order during suspend. That is, if you have a script titled 44-myfix-for-foo, it will run before a script titled 88-myfix-for-bar. These scripts are then executed in reverse order upon resume. -

The built-in guest user account will not do this. Simply create a new standard account and call it "Guest" or "Guest Users" or whatever you like.
Go to System Preferences > Users& Groups, click "+" to make a new account. -
I have a problem. the user had successfully logged in in an IE Browser. Then I copy the URL of the IE
to another IE Browser. The output must be, the browser will ask the user to log in again which is correct.
In my application, the output was still logged in which is wrong.

I dont use parameter such as CFID and CFTOKEN for my code.
Is it possible to do it without using this parameter?

you give me simple code that if it is successfully logged in, then it

Log out a specific user after inactivity, not all users
I'd like to log out a specific user after a few minutes of inactivity. Not all users. Is there a ways to set this on a per user basis?

Preventing the User from going back to the main page after logging out.
Hi all,
In my project I want to prevent the User from going back to the Main page, by clicking the back button of the browser, after the user has loggged out.I had invalidated the session so the user will not be able to do any operations, but he can vew the infos. I want to redirect to the login page if the user tries to go back using the back button after he has logged out.
I tried the same in this forum after loging out. Surprisingly it is the same. I can browse through all the operations i did even after logging out from here.
Is it not possible to do that in Servlets?Could somebody help?

You can use a servlet filter to do this , as it can interceptany request to your application you can decide to allow user access or not to any page/servlet.

After logging in SSO user is not able to see responsiblities
Our EBS is integrated with SSO. On PRD we have once user whose account was locked while logging into SSO. We unlock his account, after that user is able to login but is not able to see responsiblities list. We did on EBs application tier relink using
FND_TOP/patch/115/sql/fndssouu.sql with userid parameter.
with this user was able to see responsiblities Yesterday.
Today morning again the same user is complaining that he is able to login SSO but can not see responsiblities list.

After Time Machine backs up my file vault files (after logging out), when I next log into the user account it beachballs permanently during log in. The backup was successful, as I had to restore after this issue last time. Hard resetting doesn't resolve the issue. Is there a Time Machine setting that I should be aware of?
I have 2011 13" MBP, 10.6.8 and use an external hard drive connected via USB for my Time Machine backups.
ThanksI was able to get it to work. Thanks for your help. It's unfortunate the two applications do not work well together. This is what I did:
1) Safe boot and logged into the affected user (since the whole issue damaged the account's system settings).
2) Turned off File Vault in System Preferences. I needed to make some space on the hard drive first since apparently the total free space on the hard drive has to equal or exceed the amount of data currently in the file vault. I deleted some files and moved others to the Admin account. This whole process took awhile.
3) Finally, just restarted and logged in. The next time machine backup seems to be a significant backup, I assume because it's backing up the user account in a different way now that File Vault is turned off.
