WRT350N - Data Link - Streaming Music Files Problems

I have a hard drive attached to my WRT350N by USB.  I also have a Apple Airport Express (wireless function disabled) attached to the WRT350N by ethernet cable.  The Airport express is used to connect my stereo to the router so I can use the data port connecting a hard drive to store/play all my music.
Music files are accessed on the hard drive and sent to my laptop that plays it clearly.  However, when it is then sent from the hard drive...to my laptop ...and then sent back to the router to be sent to the Airport to be sent to the stereo...I get gaps in the music.
You'd think that so many connections would be the issue, but if I connect an ethernet cable ...directly from Router to my laptop, it plays perfect on my stereo.  So, my thought is that the wireless configuration must be adjusted.  Any thoughts...does this make sense?

Try changing the Wireless channel on the router ...
Also try changing the MTU size under Setup page from 1500 to 1300 ....
See if it works ....

  • Need an expert help solve linking original music files

All my iTunes music files now have an exclamation mark ( ! ) next to them. The error says unable to loacate original music file. I choose to locate the file, and I am able to find the file. When I find the file in "my music" folder, I see all my albums. If I open the album file I can find the original music file and I can link it successfully so that that particular song will play correctly from iTunes.
My problem is that I have almost 4,000 songs listed in my iTunes library. I can't possilby take each file and link each one manually through the My Music folder to the Album folder and then find the song. There must be an easier way, or I am doing this incorrectly.
I would certainly appreciate anyone's expertise.

I believe I followed the directions: I closed iTunes. I renamed the MY MUSIC file to MY MUSIC 1. (this is where all the music files were located). I reopened iTunes, then dragged the MY MUSIC folder into the open iTunes window. Now I have duplicates of all my music files in iTunes, but both sets get the exclamaion mark that original file cannot be located. Perhaps this works for MAC, but not Windows.
Still looking for any solutions. Thank you.

  • ITunes changes links to music files to the wrong (and random) location

Recently, I've noticed that iTunes (8.2) skips certain songs in my iTunes library. No ! shows up to indicate it cannot find the file. Rather, the file link is to a completely random location on my harddrive where no music files exist. I'll link to a photo a previous poster put on the web which has the same odd file links. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3459/327398302018d78347a5o.jpg
    Two questions:
    1. How do I stop this?
    2. How can I fix this short of reimporting each file and deleting the improper one?
Thanks in advance for any insights.
    Dan

Remove the compilations indicator from the tracks and iTunes should relocated the files for you. Make a playlist to pick up all the tracks in the album, highlight all the songs and right click on the selection, choose Get Info and when you are asked if you want to edit multiple items say yes, In the box that opens change Compilation to "No" and press OK.

  • Music File problems MAC not recognising them

I have recently just bought a Macbook and transferred music files from my PC to the MAC.
I seem to be having a problem with the Macbook recognising certain files as music as its currently just showing an image, without the additional duration info, etc..
    Has anyone else experienced this?
Or have any advice as to what the problem could be?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Okay. Try this: Find one of the problematic songs in Finder (It should be in your home folder under Music>iTunes>iTunes Music, which is organized by artist name, then album. Once you've found one of the songs, right-click (control+click) on it, choose *Open With* and pick QuickTime. Does that work?
Are the songs the right file size? (2~3 MB)

  • Sycn music files problem.

I used to sync my i phone on my laptop running vista no problem, I have now tried to syn using my new desktop machine running window 7 (much better powerful machine etc). Sycn works fine all but my music files, only 14 will sync for some reason. I have tried diff options but only ever get the same 14 to sync. I cant see anything special about the files that will sync compared to those that will not sync. Any ideas. I have removed I tunes and re-loaded but still no luck.

Your phone comes with 10MB of space. I do not know how much is available for music, pictures, etc., but 2 .mp3 files should not max it out. When connected via Bluetooth do you see more than one area of storage?
If I have helped you with your problem in some way, please take a little time and hit the kudos button in my post. Without your feedback, I don't know if I am being helpful or should just be put out to pasture.

  • How to move move and link FCPX music files?

The Library/Apple Loops/... file is now over 30GB, leaving very little overhead on my system drive.
I would like to move this whole directory to a second internal drive and link FCPX to that location.
Haven't found a way to change the folder link in FCPX.

You can duplicate the project to another hard drive and erase the current one.

  • With streaming music files I used to be able to hover over the file with the mouse and see a "Download" option. However, after a recent uninstall and reinstall of FireFox, I no longer see this option. Please help!

Even with files I used to be able to see the download option with (Quicktime files) I do not see the option when I hover over it with the mouse.

Which add-ons do you have that say "incompatible with Firefox 5.0"?
Maybe something like download helper? You need to find an update for that add-on.

  • Re Linking Music Files

I had my whole tunes library on a usb hardrive that crashed however i have recovered my itunes music folder and have it saved to a new hardrive, how can i link the music files in itunes to their new home without having to import everything again ?

hi. i've just been posting about this issue in quite a number of threads and i see choosing a new library seems to work for most people, but it's not doing it for me.
this is the situation, hope someone can give me a hand here and helps if somebody else has been having this problem:
since i ran out of disk space on my computer i decided to migrate my whole iTunes Music folder over to my external drive. i created a folder on my usb drive (same name, iTunes Music), copied all my music to it, then set the "iTunes Music folder location" to be the new one. then i deleted the original folder on my computer, and restarted iTunes. it played a track properly.
today i started up the computer with the usb drive already connected, tried to play a track and iTunes couldnt find the file. i checked the iTunes Music folder on the usb drive, and all the music is there; then checked the "iTunes Music folder location" in Preferences > Advanced > General, and it was the one in the external drive. so i hit reset (that changed the location back to user:Music:iTunes:iTunes Music), and then set it back to the external drive. still the same thing: cant find the files, so i manually locate one, but it doesent automatically locate not even the other tracks in the same album...
anyways, i tried this, changing the playlist. when i chose the folder i had created on the usb drive and copied my music into, it said there was *no playlist file there*. so i copied the original playlist file into it and it would still not find mp3 files +(i'd guess cos the playlist file has the mp3s located in the computer and not the usb drive, right?)+. so i tried again, but this time i created a new playlist. and itunes came up totally empty. right...
so i opened itunes holding option again, and went back to choosing the original playlist file on my computer (i wiped the mp3 files from the computer, but not the iTunes Music folder nor the playlist file). came up as usual, with all my playlists... and, obviously, it once again couldnt find the mp3 files +(i'd guess, again, because the playlist file has the mp3s located in the computer and not the usb drive)+
basically, i have the original iTunes folder (Album Artwork, iTunes Music, Previous iTunes Libraries, and playlist file in it) on my computer, but with no music there. i also have a folder in my external drive called iTunes Music with all the music in it, and no playlist file.
so i want iTunes to realize that all the music is now located in a different drive, without having to start over from scratch with a clean playlist file and create playlists and drag files into them again.
    is this possible?
    thanks in advance
(and sorry about the huuuuuge explanation)

  • Premiere CC 2014 losing link to Preview files - what I've found

Upgraded to Premiere CC 2014 in an effort to resolve the dreaded "losing link to Preview files" problem.
After some testing, I've discovered that I need to actually close any and all timelines before saving/quitting in order to keep the link intact.
This workaround works for a variety of timeline types (ProRes and Avid 220), and irregardless of what type of external drive I am rendering to.
Has anyone else had this type of "losing links to Preview files" behavior?
FYI, I am on OSX 10.8.5...

The issue could just be this...
and irregardless of what type of external drive I am rendering to.

After "Restoring iTunes Library backup" it wont link to the files in the iTunes folder. I've followed the procedure as described, and the iTunes folder is in the correct location. iTunes lists all my music correctly (albeit with no artwork), but can't locate any of the files.
I've been restoring my iTunes folder from a backup hard drive to a new computer on which I've downloaded the latest iTunes (10.7). If this is a newer version than the one I backed up with could this be the problem? (I had the latest (to my knowledge) iTunes when I backed up the folder about 3 weeks ago, was this version 10.7?)
Or is the version of iTunes (within recent updates) not an issue when restoring a library?
    Using Windows 7.
    Any help please?

From the top of the page where the scripts live...
The general method of use is to download the script to a folder of your choice, e.g. your Desktop, Downloads folder or create a folder at ...\iTunes\Scripts. Select a playlist or highlight some tracks in iTunes and then double-click on the script to execute it. If no specific tracks are selected the script will try to work with all tracks in the current playlist. Some scripts offer a choice of track by track confirmation of changes or fully automatic processing of the selection. Many of the scripts can optionally display a progress bar while running.
You are strongly advised to backup your entire library, or at the very least the iTunes Library.itl file, before use. Test the behaviour of your chosen script on a small group of files first to make sure it does what you want before applying it to large numbers of files.
Most builds of Windows will execute *.vbs scripts when you double-click them. If that doesn't happen then you might need to visit the Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features control panel to enable the Windows Scripting Host. I can track down details if you have issues.
Backing up and restoring data is an area that is often glossed over. Most people don't try to learn much about it until they've lost something important. (Me too )
If your iTunes library was in the usual layout then normally copying the whole iTunes folder from the User's Music folder in the old computer to the User's Music folder in the new one will usually work fine. Ideally this is done before iTunes is installed so that there is no empty library to replace, and all settings are picked up from the old library. This post contains more details.

  • How to link itunes library to music files on another drive

this thing seems to be very easy at first but I have been trying to find a fix for this for quite some time now. It started when my stupid SSDrive just stopped working after one year (they say that is not unusual). I lost my windows install and my itunes library file.
Since my music is on another drive it sure was annoying but I found a not too old backup of itunes.itl. However after I reinstalled windows and Itunes I found out that the old itunes.itl was was looking for my music files on drive D:\ - so the easiest thing would be to change the drive where my .mp3s are (currently F:\) to drive D:. However D:\ drive is now the Win7 System drive and I read I am not allowed to change anything and leave it as it is or it would mess up my win7 install.
The itunes.itl is not plaintext so I can't change anything in it. I could go through my thousands of songs and relocate each and everyone by hand but that is not really an option.
I googled my problem quite a bit and found some step by step guides but they often start with "activate keep Itunes Music Folder organized" or "consolidate". But I don't want itunes to change anything to the way my mp3s are stored. I have been using the same file structure for years and don't want itunes to manage it for me.
Is it really so difficult to relocate all files at once?
    Any ideas anyone?
PS: I still have the iphone that I always synchronized with the library before I lost the library. Is there a way to get a .itl out of the iphone and use it on the computer? That library would be up to date.

My script FindTracks can probably sort you out. To keep things simple in future I'd suggest you move the library folder to F:\iTunes and put the media folder inside it as F:\iTunes\iTunes Media, that way when the library is repaired it will be easy to move it to any other location as and when required.

  • Problems accessing Music Files in Slideshow module in LR 2.6 and Windows 7 64 bit

Just got new computer 64 bit Windows 7.  Installed LR 2.6 and am having problem with slideshow and music.  Never had this problem before with my XP computer.  When I open up slideshow module and go to Playback window and check soundtrack and try to choose a music folder, I have a new problem.  It opens up "Browse for Files & Folders" dialog box as usual, but it only lets me browse on my desktop or my User name on the C drive.  My music is in my F drive where my data is stored.  I've never had a problem accessing my music in my F drive in my XP computer, but this setup limits where I can browse to.  Interesetingly, this works OK in LR 3 beta on this WIndows 7 PC where it opens up a dialog box "Choose a music file to play" which gives me access to all my drives.  In summary, I can't access music files stored on a drive other than my C drive using LR 2.6 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer.
I have attached a screen shot to compare the new Windows 7 Browse for Files & Folders dialog box to that in my XP computer.
         Would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

Thanks for the reply.  I went through the process you suggested to change Ownership  & grant permission to access files.  When I get to the owner tab in Advanced Security Settings....I am already the current owner of this folder.
    What do I do now?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

  • Apple Senior tech lady deleted all my external drive data while sorting out other problem. How can I restore all my photos , music etc back to my Mac Pro?(I am so scared, I haven't connected to sync! Please help)

Apple Senior tech lady deleted all my external drive data while sorting out other problem. How can I restore all my photos , music etc back to my Mac Pro?(I am so scared, I haven't connected iPhone to sync! Please help)

It was tele tech. I couldn't open my Page Numbers etc. Frist tech chat idiot - following dumping few things in bin, asked me yo upgrade to Yosemite. But the problem still persists. This morning I was asked to do it via telephone and like yesterday, after wasting 20 min, I was put to this apparent Tech Queen ( my foot!). She eventually decided to reinstall  Yosemite asked me to connect my external drive while I connected to her. She was moving cursor asking me to move files and delete and I followed her like a dummy. It took 3/4 hours and she called me 3 times once the lengthy process was completed. I suspected from the beginng for the fact that why should be asking me to click all my backup from the very beginning! Eventually she said I deleted... Or someone else or may be my children ! It was a blatant lie. I run my small business from home and I was simply staying in front of the Mac whole day! Children were at school. Then she said I must have used another computer! I only have laptop and the iPad. I will talk to their manager first thing in the morning. In the mean time please let me know as to how can I transfer photos, music etc back to my laptop from my Iphone and IPad .? I am will connect to laptop as I am worried the new BLANK iPhoto may supersede iphone/iPad stuff? Will it? Please let me know. I am not a very tech savvy person. My son who could help me, is in Manchester Uni and Inam in London.

  • ITunes 8.2 has problems handling larger music files

    Hi,
After upgrading to iTunes 8.2, I have begun to notice that the program is halted with larger mp3 files. I have quite a lot of music files with size 200MB and above and before opening them, iTunes stops for about 10-15 seconds (with "beach ball" on the screen), then the playback starts normally. This is not an actual problem, but pretty annoying though. iTunes 8.2 behaves in the same way both on my black MacBook, as well as on my oldie G4 iMac running Tiger. Never noticed such a behaviour with earlier 8.1 version of iTunes.
Has anyone encountered similar problem and could there be any remedy? Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Matt

    iso_omena,
I can't duplicate your problem here, so maybe there's something about your machine or the software installed on it. Do you have any iTunes plugins installed?
You can also take a sample of iTunes while it's hung and send it to our good buddy, Roy, who will forward it to the right Apple engineers. To sample iTunes:
    1. Open the terminal app in /Applications/Utilities
    2. Get iTunes into the state where you have the spinning cursor and the music's not playing.
    3. At the command prompt in the terminal window, type in "sample iTunes 10". This will sample iTunes for 10 seconds and then tell you where it put the output file.
    4. You need to send that file to <[email protected]>. Make sure that you include:
    (1) the sample file.
    (2) the link to this thread.
    (3) a one line description of your problem, i.e. "iTunes crashes on launch".
    (4) the username that you're using here in the discussion boards.
Roy is getting a little swamped with messages and needs to make sure he gets all the information. And if he doesn't get that information, the message is just going to get dropped on the floor.
