WRT54G V.5 & PDA setup problem

Everything else in the network is up and running fine but I am trying to connect my HP IPAQ hx2755 with out success due to the fact I can not find my passcode for the WPA.. What would be the easiest way to resolve this dilema??? Should I just reset the router and start all over?? Any help, advice or directions will most assuredly be appreciated..
Thanks in advance..

All you have to do is to get the WPA key from the router.
1. Assuming that your router is using it's default IP address, type 192.168.1.1 on your browser(press enter of course).
2. Leave the username blank and type your password(if you ran the CD) or admin(default).
3. Go to wireless tab and then wireless securiyt tab below it.
And there, you got your key and please keep it.
Hey thanks a million as this got me going.. Oh and I wrote it down and put it in a place to where I won't forget it.. :?)

  • I need to upgrade my 10.5.1 os on my G4/1.25 (I'm having some audio-midi setup problems), but it's a machine that is not connected to the internet.  Do I have any options?  Thanks!

    Friends,
I'm having some audio-midi setup problems on my G4/1.25/10.5.1 machine.  I'm thinking that a routine OS upgrade might help.  However, this machine is not connected to the internet.  Are there any alternate methods for upgrading system software?  Thanks in advance!

OK, what you should do is download the updates on another machine and burn them to a disc.  Start at this link http://support.apple.com/downloads/#leopard for downloads and find, among other things, the 10.5.8 combo updater that works on PPC machines, plus security, QuickTime and other updates.  Going from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8, there will probably be a bunch of things that you should install.  Being off the internet with the machine, you can't have Software Update sort it out, so something might get missed, unfortunately.
My suggestion is this: if it looks like you might need a download, get it onto that disc.

setup problem, windows xp, firefox upgrade to 4 and asked to reboot but did not progress. keeps asking to restart even if I try to remove

    Hi marsano,
Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
    * Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    # Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
    # [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
    # Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Simple VISA Setup Problem

    Hi all,
I'm having issues working with VISA in LabVIEW. Previously, I've used Peek/Poke VIs (before they were VISA VIs) that allowed me to read and write directly to registers at a given Windows address. I have a new, custom PCI Express board that uses the same architecture that I've worked with previously only this time I'm trying to access the registers using VISA.
As this is my first time using VISA, I'm having some setup problems. Yesterday I got to a state where logically things should work but I still end up getting an error when I try to run a simple VISA Open command (see attached screenshot).
The initial problem I had was I was not able to acquire a VISA resource that opens a session to my PCIe board...it would simply not show up on the resource list. After reading around I discovered I needed to create a custom VISA driver for my board. Once I did that using the VISA Driver Wizard, the device showed up in my list (as seen in the screenshot). I wrote the simplest of all VIs where I simply open that VISA resource, however, the error seen in the screenshot is produced.
I'm pretty sure this is a simple setup issue, but does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi bonhomme,
I see you're having some issues using VISA. It sounds like you're new to VISA, so I wanted to pass along some information that we have availble on this software. This link gives good general information about VISA, and the related links are extremely helpful in finding specific issues.
Thank you for attaching your error. This is extremely helpful in debugging since we can actually see the numbers. There is another forumn that talks about these at this link and at this link.
    Hope this helps you out!!

  • WRT54G V.5 Setup Problem

My WRT54G V.5 with SpeedBooster can't seem to set up properly. I am currently using a BEFSR41 V.4 to split my internet connection between my PC running Windows XP, and my Mac running OS X Panther (10.3.9). The BEFSR41 works just fine between the PC and the Mac, but the WRT54G can't get through setup. Okay, here's what I do -- I insert the Setup CD on my PC, I follow all the instructions, and then when it comes to the part where it shows the percent bar and a timer, it goes all the way through that, then... it freezes up. I honestly don't know what's wrong with this, but I was thinking that I should only connect my PC into port 1 and then after the setup is done, connect my Mac to port 2. By the way, I am planning on using the wireless to do gaming on my Xbox and my Nintendo DS if that makes any difference. Any help to this problem would be greatly appriciated because I really want to start using this item. Thank you very much for any help!

  • WRT54GS v 7.2 - Installation Problems

Ok.. so I have been running the old WRT54G v.5 no problem... I decide to upgrade to wireless N - too many problems so I came back to 54G but wanted to get the next step up and went with the 54GS.
I have tried setting up/installing the router on two separate computers. I always get the same error - "Your new router does not appear to be connected properly - Error 322: New Router or Gateway Not Detected."
I have followed the onscreen instructions meticulously in the setup... I have tried it wired on a Vista x64 and an XP x32 system.. same on both! My ISP is: Suddenlink 3 computers - once setup all three will be wireless. Laptop - XP, Desktop 1 - Vista Home Prem. x64, Desktop 2 - Vista Home Premium x32.
I would really appreciate help asap so I dont get mad and drop Linksys altogether! The Wireless N I tried was the WRT160N ... took it back this morning for dropping the network repeatedly... come on linksys.. you're losing my faith!

  • WRT54G v7 WAN DHCP client problem

I've recently started having a strange problem with my WRT54G. Internet access is via a Cable modem and has been working fine for months, and the cable modem works fine so I suspect the problem is with the router. However the router is also working, mostly, so I figured I'd see if anyone here has any suggestions. Here are the details of the problem:
The router WAN configuration was set to DHCP.
It used to happily pick up a new IP address from the cable modem whenever necessary.
One night the router stopped picking up an IP on the WAN side. (nothing was changed. I'm the only one in the house who goes anywhere near the router)
Connecting the modem directly to a PC works fine (suggesting the modem's DHCP server is fine).
Copying the WAN IP config from the PC to the router, as a Static IP, also allows it to work when the modem is plugged back into the router and the router to a PC (which is how it's setup now, but it's a pain to have to mess with the physical connections and manually reconfigure the router every time the modem drops a connection (which is another issue, but not one for this forum...)).
So both the modem and the router seem to work except for the router's DHCP client. It works fine as a DHCP server for the LAN.
The firmware was already upgraded (and working), I've followed the standard power-cycle procedure, I've released and renewed the IP via the Status tab in the web interface, and I've tried resetting the router using both the button on the unit and via the web interface to revert to factory defaults.
    Any suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I also had this problem which occurred after >2 years of the router working fine.  After changing MTU to 1300, cloning the PC MAC address, and power cycling the router and modem fixed the problem.  But I was curious to see which change did the trick, so I changed both back to the default (MTU = auto and not cloning the MAC address) and it worked fine!  I think the router problem is intermittant and may appear to be fixed by changing setting, but I fully expect it to reoccur.

  • WRT54GS V6.0 No setup Tabs???

I recently upgraded my wireless B router to a wireless G w/ speedbooster and I am having a big problem logging on to it.  For some reason, whenever I log onto it using 192.168.1.1 blank login password admin I get the normal background that I used to get with my old router, but now I have no tabs to click on???  I should have tabs across the top to alter my settings (setup, security,...) I have nothing except for the(&) symbol and that is it.  I talked to linksys "foreign" support for an hour yesturday and they have no clue, so i exchanged it for another thinking it was the router, but the new one is doing the same thing.  I know my firmware is old but i have no way of updating it?  Why would they sell me a router with old firmware anyway (twice)?   Can anyone help????

Just figured out how to fix this on my own WRT54GS.  COMPLETELY disable, turn off, kill Zone Alarm.  All the tabs showed up and I was able to update firmware that I had been screwing around with for hours.

  • WRT54G version 6 - router setup screen via Internet Explorer 7 doesn't display correctly

    Hi,
I've just set up my WRT54G router.  I'm able to connect to the internet and I'm able to connect directly to the router via IE but the setup screen doesn't display correctly.  I've tried resetting the computer and updating the firmware but it still doesn't display correctly.  Almost all of the text is missing except for the Linksys logo and a few drop down menus.  Any help/suggestions would be great, thanks.

    Hi gang,
There a number of things that you can do to solve this problem but most of them involve changing the rules that you have already configured in your ZoneAlarm profile. My preferred solution is to:
-unplug your router from the WAN (why not?)
    -turn off zone alarm
-access your router's administration page at http://192.168.1.1
-find the admin page where you can switch admin access from http to https
    --- **save your changes !!**
    -reboot your router
-plug the WAN cable back into your router
    -turn ZoneAlarm back on
-access your admin page at https://192.168.1.1 ( note the 's')
Bob is your sister's brother! Your admin page should work as it is supposed to. Your router and ZoneAlarm should be playing nicely together. You haven't borked your finely tuned zonealarm rules. You were going to bookmark your admin page anyway, and if you want to allow remote administration, you would want to use https anyway. Nothing is broken and you fixed two things. • WRT54G - IP and Port mapping problems

I'll set the scenario first so you can understand what i'm trying to do. I have a D-Link 524 configured trough PPoE to get access to internet. It has DHCP enabled (from 192.168.0.100 to .199). I had static ip configured in the D-Link router as 192.168.0.90 and some ports forwarded to my pc that's like 50 meters away from the router, in other office. The thing is, I added a WRT54G v6 router cause the wireless signal from the d-link didn't reach where I am, and some people needed to use it. So, I plugged my pc to the WRT54G, and the linksys to the D-Link. No, my problem is, I no longer have the static ip that the d-link assigned me (the linksys uses the 192.168.1.X range, and the d-link the 192.168.0.X range). Now, if I release my MAC address from the D-link and assing a static ip in the WRT54G, I could fordward the ports I had before in the d-link but in the linksys. The thing is, I can't find a way to assing a static ip in the linksys. And I tried to change the range of ip from the linksys to 192.168.0.X so I can still use the assigned address from the d-link but it didn't work, I couldn't access the linksys neither the d-link after changing the address, didn't get internet either, so i had to reset the linksys. After all of this... what the hell do I do Azureus can't connect, or any other P2P app for that matter (cause I had the ports forwarded in the other router, and I can't forward them in the linksys cause I get a dynamic local ip, if I forward them to, say 192.168.1.100 and some day I get assigned 192.168.1.101... well, I assume it won't work as expected)

The WRT54G does not assign fixed IP addresses through DHCP. You have to set a static IP address on the computer itself instead of using DHCP.
I would, however, recommend not to use the WRT as router but only as simple access point. Instructions are here. Set a LAN IP address like 192.168.0.2 on the WRT to keep it accessible inside your normal LAN. I think this setup will solve all your problems. You can still use the fixed IP address assignment from the DHCP server on the D-Link and you only have to configure a single port forwarding on the D-Link (instead of two which would be necessary if you connect the Linksys router through its internet port to the D-Link).
With two access points you can create a roaming network by using the identical wireless settings on both routers (SSID, wireless security, wireless mode). Channels should be different and at least 5 apart. SSID broadcast should be enabled on both. Now most wireless clients are able to move between both access points without loosing the connection.

  • WRT54G Ver 6 Internet connectivity problems

    Alright so here's the deal.
I'm on Windows XP with Verizon DSL (in Orange County, CA) that uses a Westell modem (just modem, not modem and router combo).
I have the old Linksys BEFSR41 v.2 router that runs with everything fine.
I just bought the WRT54G Version 6 and connected everything up as needed.  Powered things down and then back up.  And it could not detect an Internet connection, but I could access the router via web browser.
    - Ran the Setup CD and it couldn't find the internet.
    - Upgraded the firmware.
    - I searched the forums and did not find a successful solution.
    - Called my ISP to confirm it is DHCP.
    - Talked to Linksys Support via phone and he had me do all sorts of stuff.  Releasing, Renewing, Local IP Address changes, pinging, MAC, etc.  All this to try to get some sort of IP address with the internet.
    - Tried it with a diff WRT54G Ver 6 (Yeah.  I bought two.  One for me, and one to bring to my parents), and it still didn't work.  (Can't be that both the routers I got are defective.)
    - Searched forums some more and ran across the EasyLink program.  I used it, and it tells me my freaking Wired adaptor is disabled.  Where do I enable it?  Can't be my computer because it all works fine with the old Linksys router I got....or could it?
    - Powered down and back up in many different combinations.
Did all that to no avail.  Anyone got a solution?  I couldn't find anything that worked.  I'm about to go return this and get something else tomorrow.  Maybe if I wake up, there will be a workable solution that is replied back.
Thanks in advance to all those that tried to help and posted something, or didn't post due to having no solution.
    - Chris

Yup Yup Yup.  I tried the WAN address thing and it still didn't work.
I was about to pack everything up and go return the stupid thing.  BUT.....I decided to talk to Verizon DSL support since I hadn't tried that.
    They helped me out good!!!
    Here's the solution.
I plugged in the old router, the BEF, and went to Status to click the DHCP Release.  Then unplugged the old router.
Then per Verizon DSL support instruction....powered down the modem, then powered it back up and waited for lights to stabilize.  Then I plugged in the new router, the WRT.  And went to Status (IP was already autofilled, with internet working) but I still clicked DHCP Renew.
    It all works.  WOOOOOO!!!!
By the way.  The WAN address thing is important.  I went to it on the new, WORKING router and disabled the WAN address.  The internet stopped working.  I re-entered in the WAN address I copied and the internet worked again.  So......yeah.
I hope for all those out there having the same problems as me, and without a solution, see this thread and try this.
Thanks again for your guys' help.
    **edit**
By the way.  Is there a way to stop my internet to being a stickler to this MAC address?  I'm just curious.  I'm gonna go google MAC address and see if I can read anything useful.

  • [WRT54G v.5] Cannot setup VPN to work due to IP conflict

    Hi,
I am completely ignorant about routers and networking and I've tried to read through threads that seem related to my problem but didn't find a solution. So I will try to give as much information as I can and hopefully someone can help me out!
    Router: WRT54G v5, Firmware v1.01.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
VPN Client Software: Check Point VPN-1 SecuRemote, NG with Application Intelligence R56 HFA-03 (Build 619)
Situation: PCs at work have IP addresses starting with 192.168.*, which conflicts with the IP address assign to my home PC
Thanks in advance for any input here!

How have you configured your router before if it is using 192.168.2.1?
Connect to the web-based interface of the router. The default address is http://192.168.1.1/ but if you have changed it it would be http://192.168.2.1/ for you. It will ask for a username and password. The default password is "admin" there (no username) but I hope you have changed it before. If not, this would be a good time to do it...
The setup page appears in the browser. Somewhere in the middle of the screen is the Network Setup section where you define the Local IP Address of the router and the subnet mask. Change the local IP address to whatever base address you like... save the settings... done.
For further configuration you must now point your browser to the new IP address obviously. If you are using DHCP on your computer you must renew the DHCP address. I guess a "Repair" of the network connection should do. If you have a static IP address you must change it that it is in the new LAN. After your computer has a proper IP address in the new LAN it can connect again to the router under the new IP address and it should also be able to use the internet connection of the router (or whatever else is connected on the internet port of the router)

  • WRT54G Failure to access setup menu

Having an issue accessing my setup menu for my WRT54G wireless router. IP 192.168.1.1 times out and ipconfig/all from the command prompt reveals a different IP. I've tried logging in through the listed default gateway but that times out as well. I reset my WRT54G but I continue to time out. I have had this router connected to my DSL modem for some time with no trouble.
I wanted to check my setup menu because one of my laptops stopped connecting. I never got to troubleshoot that problem due to setup access problem. Only change to system is that the PC was moved today so power was disconnected to all devices. I'm still able to connect to internet via PC. I've power cycled all the devices multiple times with no fix.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ridcully has a good suggestion here, worked for me
