WHen i log onto the router there are a bunch of errors on the page. NOt all of the funtions are there. what brouser ver. do i need to interface with this page. I have no problem connecting to it just the page is all messed up.

All the browser should work. However you can try adjusting the browser settings on the computer...Open an IE, click Tools >> Internet Options, then delete all files, cookies, history, forms...Goto "Connections", make sure Never Dial a Connection is checked, click on LAN Settings and make sure all the options are unchecked...Once you are done click on Ok...Close the IE and re-open it...Now try..
Try the different computer to access the setup page...If the firmware of your router is old then, try upgrading the router's firmware.

  • WRT54G V8 Can't connect to web based setup page?

Earlier I reset my router and was able to use 192.168.1.1 to visit the web based setup page while trying to re-establish a home network now that I have a new computer using Windows 7 which can not use the easylink advisor. I was able to get on the page to update my SSID and WEP key. But when my wireless devices were still having problems connecting to the internet I tried to go back to the page and found that I can't get it to connect, though my desktop is able to connect to other internet sites just fine.
Does anyone know what i can be doing wrong? I am using Verizon DSL. I was able to ping the router and all tests showed that it was connected fine, yet I still cannot get on the setup page and my laptop still can't connect to the network. I have tried resetting the router again, and still nothing. And yes, I have gone through numerous power cycles. I also tried going though the network map on my computer, but the computer says it was unable to create a map for it even though at the time I had it listed as a Home network.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Wireless connections to 192.168.1.1  often fail.  When accessing the router setup pages, always use a computer that is wired to the WRT54G.
If the above does not solve your problem, then here are my other tips for viewing the router setup pages:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
Some Zone Alarm users have reported that adding 192.168.1.1 to their list of "trusted" addresses fixed the problem. This trick might also work with other firewalls.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system.  The router should work, but you will need to setup your router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
If you still have trouble, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • Error in router's web-based setup page (WRT54G V5)

    Hi,
My router’s web-based setup page is unable to load fully.
There seems to be an error with some document.setup.save file.
I have tried to reset my router but the router’s web-based setup page is still unable to load fully.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Try Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Temporarily turn off your computer's software firewall, and see if that corrects your problem.
    Hope this helps.

    WRT54GX4 - Difficulties Accessing the Router's Web-Based Setup Page.
I have tried everything posted to the forums and the Knowledge Base for several weeks now with no luck.  I can power push router and gain access to router's web-base interface but only for a few minutes than it quits loading part way through and or does not load at all.  If I turn off the wireless side I can access the router at will with no problems. My warranty is almost over. I am at my wits end. I would like to get it replaced under warranty if I can. (^8

Thank you for your recommendations peanuts. (^8
I bought the router back in December 10, 2006.
I updated the firmware to v1.00.20 back in June 2007. After I did a successful firmware upgrade I reset the router to factory default settings and then reconfigured it. It has worked Ok till a couple of months ago.
I have read everything I can find here on the support forum and in the Knowledge Base several times.
I have tried changing all the different settings to the different recommendations posted here and in Knowledge Base with no success. Each time I would do a long reset back to factory defaults, let it soak for a few hours and then make one change at a time and let it soak.
I have been monitoring 6 other wireless AP(s) around me (none mine) for a couple of months too. None of them are strong enough to connect to. My SSID is different from them. I have tried all the channels. My router is passworded and MAC'd.
It is looking like it is time to call support and try to get a replacement under warranty while it is still in affect.

  • WPA Security, Crashing OS, Locked out of Web-Based Setup Page. AAAaaarrrrrrgggg!

I tried several times to enable WPA security on my WMP54GS router by using the "Secure Easy Setup" button in the Wireless Network Monitor Panel. I pressed the lighted Cisco logo on the router as directed, I clicked on the "next" button on screen, and Windows crashed. (That is, my system rebooted and Windows reported that it had recovered from a serious error.)  I am running XP. I also tried to enable security using the router’s web-based setup page.  I followed the instructions, and a new web screen appeared stating "error on page."  I tried again to enable security using the web-based setup page, but now it won't let me in using the default password (admin).  I tried resetting the router by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds, but I still cannot access the web-based setup page. Sooooooo, I'm out of ideas.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi
When configuring your wireless settings, use a wired computer and not a wireless computer. Because it will not be able to apply the new settings. Its like trying to troubleshoot a automobile malfunction while you are driving the car itself.

  • Can not login to my EA4500 router's web based setup page

Hello All-I have a EA4500 router. I attempted to login to my router' web based  setup page late last year using my IE11 browser.I received an error message stating that I cannot login with that browser. I need an updated   IE,Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to be able to  visit that site. I attempted about 3 more times and received the same error message. I switched to Google Chrome that worked very well up to tonight(3/31/2004). Cisco web page is preventing me from opening my setup page. I believe I should be contacting Customer Support about this problem but none of their support options cover this problem. Thanks in advance.

IE 11 isn't compatible.  Use Google Chrome if you don't want to uninstall IE 11 and go back to IE 10.
You can force the local login by disconnecting the cable from the router's internet port and then logging in.
If the Smart Wifi is giving you trouble and you don't mind reconfiguring your router. Then you could disable Smart Wifi services.
    To disable Smart Wifi Services:
Reset the router to factory defaults (recessed button for 30 seconds or through the router UI)
For setup choose "I want to skip Setup and configure my router manually"
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Get a blank page when I log in to my WRT54G router's setup page

When I try to log in to my router's setup page, I get a blank screen.  My router's address is 192.168.1.1, and when I type that in to my browser's address bar, I do get the log-in prompt.  I enter the correct password (leaving the user name field blank), and I get a blank screen.  The ensuing page does not show me the various setup parameters.
I have 2 PCs and have encountered the problem in both.  On one, I am running Windows 7 and the other is running Vista.  I recently upgraded my WinXP machine to Win7 and I did not have the problem on XP.

  • Linksys WRT54G V8 Basic Setup page problems

I have been trying to change my password and all the settings on my WRT54G V8 router today because I forgot the password, and I can't seem to navigate the Basic Setup page. I can log in (most of the time) after resetting the router, but whenever I try to click on a different tab (like "Wireless", or "Security") it comes up with the page saying "This Page Cannot Be Displayed."  I'd like to be able to put a password on it (which I have successfully done before on this router) because I live in a college dorm and would like to keep my internet from being bogged down by other people using it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Tatonka,
I assume you downloaded the WRT54G setup software disk into your PC initially. Reset the router (hold in the reset button for 30 seconds), hard wire your PC to the router, and access the Linksys icon on your desktop. Just follow the prompts after that. I had to do exactly this at my daughter's home last evening. Bob

  • (WRT160N V3 router) Issue connecting to web-based setup page

I am currently having 2 issues with my router. The first issue is the fact that I can not connect to my router's setup page (192.168.1.1). When I type the ip into my browser I get an error saying unable to connect to it. I have an internet connection and can connect to other websites perfectly fine, so the only issue I have is the setup page.
The second problem is my wireless connection. Over the past few days, I have started to experience a major ping increase in online games, and a speedtest (and pingtest) showed an issue with my wireless connection. Download speeds are normally 19-20mbps and upload speeds are normally above 6-7mbps. Recently the speeds have become about .39mbps and 2mbps respectively. Unfortunately because I can not connect to my router's setup page I can not modify any configurations that would allow me to possibly pinpoint the issue with the wireless connection.
tl;dr: Can not connect to my router's setup page in order to modify configuration settings to speed up my wireless connection which has been having issues.
Edit: Hardwired connections to the router are getting about 28mbps download as they should be. These computers also can not connect to the setup page.

You'd have to reconfigure your router again.

When you Hardwired your computer to the Router, on your computer click on Start - Run - CMD and click ok, now in the Command Prompt window type "ipconfig" and hit enter.. Note down the Default Gateway IP address.
Open IE on your Computer and in the address bar type http://default gateway ip and hit enter, when prompted for the Username and Password, Leave the Username blank and type "admin" as a password and click Ok. (If you have changed the Router password, then you need to use that password to login to the Setup page of your Router).
Once you login to the Router setup page, click on the Wireless tab and then click on the sub tab "Wireless  Security" and in the window you will find out your security key.

I have a Linksys E1000 wireless router, and I seem to have either written down the password incorrectly or am using the wrong one. Regardless, I can not access the web-based setup for the router. Is there anyway to reset the username and password for it?
    Solved!

Yes, there is.  You'll have to reset the router back to defaults, which will reset the password back to the default password for your router.  Unfortunately , you'll also have to reconfigure the settings, since all settings go back to factory default.  Just hold press the recessed "reset" button for your router for about 30 seconds, then release it.  After the router has re-initialized itself, you'll be able to log in to the web GUI again with the default password.
