WRT610N v20090121 Media Server Problem!

Since upgraded to the newfirmware, I was not able to view any video that was on the usb hardrive or flashdisk through my PS3 or PC via UPNP Media Server. I'm able to view or change the file through my network, but I want to be able to stream it to my PC or PS3. I did try to restore to default and configure my settings again after update. Anyone else had the following problems? Please let me know I'm not alone. Now I'm back to prior firmware, at least it's working fine for me.

You must reset the router and re-configure it after the Upgrade as it is highly recommended, make sure that no hard drive is connected while resetting the router...

WRT610N + PS3 + Media Server, does it work?

A simple question can the WRT610N media Server be seen by a PS3? and if so how?

It absolutely will work. If you are lucky enough to have an external HDD that is seen by the router. A lot of HDD's are not seen anymore since the 1.00.02B10 firmware upgrade. Turn on sharing to the HDD, then enable the media server and it will show up in the PS3's menu.

WRT610N UPnP Media Server failing after minutes online

Hi,
I have a WRT610N and I'm having issues with the media server. I have upgraded to the latest firmware and setup sharing and UPnP etc. When I initially plug in my USB hard drive (1TB Seagate Freeagent) it is discoverable by devices on my network (Xbox 306 & Linksys Kiss1600) and I can browse shared media it has indexed. This only lasts for less than 5 mintues, then the WRT610N dissappears from both devices (Xbox & K1600) and I can no longer use the media server.
Disk sharing still works OK, it's only the media server that fails.
Any help would be really appreciated as I'm about to launch it out the window.

Are your devices connected to the media server via a cabled or wireless connection ?
If its wireless - then i suspect you have a faulty WRT610, the wireless chipsets inside the WRT610N are well known for overheating and dropping all connections.
Should be pretty stable using a cabled connection though.

"No content in this folder" - Media Server Problem

I've read the forums and it makes me think the media server thing is really broken, which sucks because it was a reason for me to still buy an y-fi
I have an old laptop that is running 24/7 at home and I want to stream music from it to my X-Fi. Connecting to the WLAN and finding the server works flawlessly, but it always sais "There is no content in this folder" when I select the media server o.O (the machine is running Win XP & Media Player ). When using my desktop pc i can easily browse the media content.
When i connect the x-Fi to my desktop pc (win 7, media player 2) it works. Any ideas? (except upgrading my old laptop to win7)

I am not at all familiar with 64 bit systems, so I will let others comment on that aspect. I do not know the cause of your problem, and can only guess at possible solutions. Unless anyone comes up with better ideas:

If that relates to whatever is at the end of the location bar when you try to follow the instructions for setting a home page it should be possible to drag and drop it onto the home page icon. I think one the few exceptions is where you are using a blank page, that has an icon that will not drag and drop. (although there are other ways blank pages can be set to be the, or one of the, home pages used).
Other possible reasons for your problem are given in this KB article
* [[firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows]] <br/> although I think I have a vague recollection the problem with Firefox being set to open incorrect types, and entering an infinite loop may have been resolved. The restore session and malware problems are still definite possibilities.
* I suppose yet another possibility is some other application looking for updates or something, that is trying to use Firefox for that purpose.
When all else fails try using Firefox's [safe Mode]], but do NOT make changes at the first window with the options list, just click on continue, if that fails to help disable all plugins also.

E3000 external storage and media server problem

I have connected my LaCie rugged drive to the router and would like to use it as backup storage and as a way to stream video to my PS3.
When I go to my advanced settings for the router and go to the storage heading I can see my LaCie and its specifications. There is a button next to it that says "claim", which I press, but nothing happens.
I don't have the option to create a shared folder, and I can't access the drive from my Mac.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?
On a somewhat related note, I've enabled the media server and can find it on my PS3, but there is nothing in the root folders. How do I put stuff (movies, music,etc.) into these root folders?

Thanks, that did help. I attached a different drive to the router and was then able to create a shared folder.
I can now see the shared folder on my Mac. I open this folder and there's the icon with my network name. I double click on the network name and I get a popup with the following message: "Select the SMB/CIFS shared volume you want to connect to." and then a drop down box with the name of the shared folder I created and a public folder. I select the shared drive I created and click OK.
I then get another popup with the following message:
SMB/CIFS File System Authentication
Enter the workgroup or domain and your user name and password to access the server.
Already filled out in the Workgroup or Domain is the name of one of the folders I created on the share drive. Under username is my name and password is blank. I enter in the password for the network and click OK.
I then get the following message: The alis "'my network name'" could not be opened because it could not be found.
and then the message gives me the following options:
Delete Alias
Fix Alias
OK
It won't let me delete the alias
I've tried fixing the alias, but when I click on the option to do this, it just takes me to my file folder structure and asks me to choose a file. I'm not sure what I should do here.
Any idea on what to do so I can access the shared folder I created?
Also, on our other computer which runs windows I'm not sure how to create a root folder. How do I do this?

Linksys WRT1900AC Media Server Problem

Ok first ill explain my setup.... I have a WRT54G setup as a Repeater Bridge (DD-WRT) grabbing internet outta the air from a neighbor and then a cat-5 cable running from port 1 out of that router to internet in of my 1900AC... Everything works great as expected and I get great speed, 15megs down 15megs up.. Exacly what is paid for..I have the 1900AC setup as a media server using Hiperv+ on my iPads and iPhones to steam movies and music.When Im home it works fantastic!!!! When I leave the house and my iPhone is on its own data i startup HipServ+ and under HOME NETWORK at the botttom of the app it says ROUTERRobert S. (Online: Router is not connected directly to the internet)and is red instead of green.... Is there a port closed or a setting I need to check on my WRT54G bridge to make my 1900AC think its plugged directly into the cable modem??? Thanks in advanced for any suggestions / help Rob

I dont belive its a NAT issue as everything works excelent at home its only when i leave..And the App see's the Router online just somthing blocking it from the outside world... I tried the Bridge to operate in Router and Gateway mode neither worked. I didnt setup Dynamic Routing (Interface) as i wouldnt no what to set that at LAN, WAN, or Both Thanks

Google chrome flash media server problems.

google chrome constantly asks me to update the flash media yet on the adobe site it says that it already automatically updated. what do i need to do>?

If a service can't start listening on a port it basically
means either than you are not allowed to listen on that port. In
this case you are listening to a port > 100 and you don't need
to be root for that so it can't be the problem.
In the other case the port is already in use. Make sure you
stop a server/service before you try to start it again. FMS really
stops and starts very slow, it takes time.
Maybe this is your problem.

WRT350N v2.0 Media Server problem

Having recently upgrading to v2.00.19 firmware my Buffalo Linktheater now says that it is unauthorized to contect to the server. There is no option to authorize a device with this firmware. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to solve this or has anybody else had a similar problem?

Reset the router and reconfigure it from scratch.

WRT610N after firmware upgrade lost connection to USB storage en Twonky media server not working

Hi,
I had firmware 1.00.00.B18 running on my WRT610N. I had successfully connected a 1.5Tb USB disk to the router and The UPnP media server (Twonky Media server 4.4) was running OK. Except that the Media Server sometimes had problems with its license key.
I read somerwhere on this forum that a firmwareupgrade would help so I installed 1.00.03.B15.
Since then the router will not see my harddisk anymore and the media server also has vanished. Access thrue http://192.168.1.1:9000/ to the Twonky server shows now "page not found".
The 1.5Tb disk is FAT32 formatted. I tried a smaller USB disk and supprisingly that one is recognized by the router. I ran several Harddisk test and repair programs on the 1.5Tb and they show no faults.
The only thing I have not yet tried is resetting the router.
Can you help?

I have followed the reset procedure but the situation stays the same.

Problem with NetConnection in Adobe AIR(Flex) using Flash Media Server.

I am creating a small chat application using Flash Media server. I have already created all my user interface components in Flex(Adobe AIR).In this application rather than sending text messages user can also send file to another user in his friend list.
problem what i am facing is, when i am sending file through FMS most of time it send successfully but for some files while sending application loss netconnection.
so i would like to know, rather than closing application what are other condition when FMS loses network connection?

Hi. It looks like your code is not finding the mp3. At least,
I can reproduce your error code by removing the mp3 from the
directory, or renaming it.
Btw, if you test with FF instead of IE, you'd see the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032:
Stream Error.

WRT54GS problems connecting PS3 to PC Vista Basic network to enable Media server access

I have a the above router and a new PS3. I am trying to connect it to me Windows Vista PC so that I can use WMP11 as a media server.
The PS3 is connector to the router with a wired connection and I have no problems with it connecting to the inter net and a network connection tests pass ok, with NAT = 2.
The Vista PC is connected to the router via wireless. It coneects to the internet ok.
When I try to view a full network map in the vista PC I cannot see the PS3 nor and unknow devices. Likewise I cannot see the PS3 or an unknow device when I Select Media Sharing fron the WMP11 option.
Can anyone please help me?

When is the WRT610n media server going to support mkv files?????

I bought the WRT610n because it had the twonkyvision media server bundled, which I have been using for years to stream from computers to my Dlink media players. They just updated the firmware a few weeks ago but did not update the media server to a version that supports mkv files. Why?

Probably because mkv is not 'mainstream' enough to warrant providing support.

Flashcom 1.5 & Media Server 2.03 problem

We have an installation of Media Server 2.03 that runs a
community website. It has about 2500 - 3600 connected users at any
given time. The application was functioning normally but suddenly
after a few hours of operation, connected clients started
experience high lag and eventually Media Server is crashing. The
only thing changed to the server the last 2 months was that the
latest (14 Nov) security update for Microsoft windows 2003 server
was applied (

Since nothing else changed to the application what might be
wrong? Does anybody experience any similar problems after applying
latest MOFT patch for Windows 2003 server?

Yes we got help from TAC, but the answer was pretty simple. As can be seen from the log, we had problems with the CDR database. The process called exportcar database fails, and in a way that prevents upgrade.
The solution is to empty the CAR database, and stop the car process while upgrading.
Resolution Summary:
Followed below steps and the upgrade was successful.
1. As precautionary measure, restart CAR DB service and the loader scheduler service.
2. Please check of any mail ID is configured in mail parameters, if yes, please reset the password. (I actually deleted the parson that had been receiving mails)
3. Make sure that the server name defined is a reachable mail server. If not sure about dns, please use ip address instead of the any hostname.
4. Before making another upgrade attempt, please purge all the CDR tables if possible. In case you need to save this data, we can export the CDR dump which would have all the CDR info in a file.
5. Disable the loader under System -> Scheduler.
6. Go to call manager admin page -> system -> service parameters -> and disable flag for CDR before upgrade. We can re-enable that flag once upgrade is done.
And that actually did the trick - upgrading to 8.6.2 went smooth.

WRT610N Media Server

I just installed a WRT610N, I can see the Main Network but not the Media Network. Everything went fine getting to the Main. I set up the Media Network witha different name and password, everything seem to go fine.
Only the Main Network shows up on the wireless list in my laptop.
When I treid to get my PS3 to the Media Network, it could not find it even though I entered everything manually. The Laptop could not find it either.
I called support who was willing to attempt to fix it for a $9 charge, I had just bought it so I was not going to pay anything. They said a Tech would call me but not yet.
I am assuming that I simply missed a check box or something. Any ideas?
