X-Fi Gamer Digital Out + Microp

Hi!
Iam interested to buy the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (NOT the Fatalty one). I wanna use the Digital Out at the FlexiJack connector, because i got a SPDIF In at my soundsystem.
Can I still use the microphon with the front connectors at my pc-case, 'cause with using the FlexiJack, it's the only possible way to use a mic. And what about the headphones? Can I put my headphone into the front connector and switch the output in the Vista 64bit drivers?

Go to speaker/headphone(left most icon in entertaiment mode)>THX setting....here select Creative 5. headphone and u will see the picture on the right change...reassign the speaker by using assignment button...

  • Dtt3500 and Audigy Gamer, digital output only 2 channel unless its D

Ok I recieved a response concerning my last comment but unfortunatly it did not answer my question at all. I have a DTT3500 and a sound blaster Audigy Gamer hooked up with the digital out to the /8 din adapter. I try the advanced 3d demo that came with the Audigy software and I only hear the front 2 channels, no center and no rears. The demo where you move the little icons and sound moves along with it. I have 5. activated in my windows control center along with audioHQ and digital out only is selected. my DTT3500 has 4./5. digital selected along with dolby digital/pcm audio and digital in. I am not getting the effect of multisurround at all. My center works and my rears work because playing music I can use all 5 speakers. When I use the analogue outputs I hear multisurround from the advanced 3d demo but my center doesnt work. The analogue setup sounds better but without a center channel its useless to me. Am I doing something wrong? I am using the adapter and digital DIN, what gives? The only reason I noticed I wasnt getting surround was while playing games nothing comes from behind you even on 5. games. The goldmine demo doesnt even work right, when the bird flys behind you it disappears but there is still sound from the rears. Analogue fixes this without a center but the manual and setup say to use the digital din. Do I just have a setting wrong? I would like to experiance the full capacity of multispeakers in my games.

    Dennis,
With these speakers the connection that I would suggest would be to use the Digital out on the back of the sound card into the DIN Input on the DTT3500's. This will require a converter cable for /8'' Minidin to standard DIN which can be purchased from here:
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...0&product=0375
You will also need a standard DIN cable (one should have shipped with your DTT3500's).
This should give you 5. with digital output only enabled on the Audigy.

  • Sound Blaster card 'digital out' into my high-end stereo receiver?

BSound Blaster card 'digital out' into my high-end stereo receiver?A I want?to interface my iTunes music library?(all tunes in Apple Lossless file format) to my high-end sound system, using an optical (TOSLink)?cable and a "mini TOSLink adapter" that will plug into the 'digital out' jack on the Sound Blaster card in my Windows XP PC. This configuration will take advantage of the high-end DAC's in my Denon receiver.
I don't care about getting surround sound out of my PC, and I'm not a gamer. I just want hi-fi stereo music from my iTunes library.
    Will this work?Can I expect CD-quality sound?
Also, would it be worthwhile to upgrade my model SB394 sound card to a hi-fi SB card like X-Fi Xtreme Audio, or is any sound card as good as any other for simply deli'vering the digital data stream to my Denon receiver?

I got 6 bookshelf speakers that use pairs of stripped wire as the input hooked up in 2 parallel wired sets of 3 to the CD/Tape/Tuner/Amp thing that has a misc input. Anyway, the one without misc input has a 3 disk CD changer, plus it would give me a way to input tape and radio sounds sources into my computer if I just connected it's audio outputs to the internally located Aux In on my soundblaster card in my computer. But I wonder, what considerations do I have to have?
Firstly, is the Aux In on my board analog or digital? I'm assuming if it doesn't say "digital", it's analog; correct?......
secondly, and more importantly; the CD/Tape/Tuner/Amp thing is supposed to be used with 8 ohm speakers and do I have to worry about sending too much current to the soundcard?
specific model of SB card; I'm not sure. It has 2 analog outs, analog in, mic in, digital out and a joystick port; and it came installed on a 200 Dell w/ Win ME
and please, don't try selling me something; I use old crappy hardware and really do not mind doing so.
any help will be appreciated, thanks.
    Aux-In is an analog port (4-pin connector/stereo).
Don't connect powered output (= speaker outputs) into soundcard but, if possible, use some low-power connection like Headphones-Out (or if possible then some line-out port).

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic and Digital Out

Please forgive me if this has been asked before, but here goes...
I have a WinXP machine with an X-Fi XtremeMusic card that I would like to hook up to my Onkyo TX-SR600 receiver. The ideal situation would be to run a single digital line into the coax digitial input of my receiver. I would like all sounds to pass through the receiver and let the receiver do the decoding if possible.
Do I need to hook up analog cables for the 6 channels in addition to the digital line?
    Thanks for any help,
    - James T

No, just run the digital coax to the rec. If you don't have one, you will need a digital coax and a /8 mono to RCA adapter. Radio Shack has these items.
If you play games and want surround sound, you will have to go to analog out. I acutally have both analog out and digital out. They work well.

  • Question regarding Digital Out (COAX) not mini plug on Audigy ZS

    Hi.
I have a question regarding the Digital Out and Digital In (COAX/RCA) Inputs I have on the back of my computer and if theres an easy way to hook the digital out with only a regular Digital Coax cable to a Home Theater receiver and get 5./DTS, OR do u have to use the 6 channel/analog (by using 3cables)or using the digital out (miniplug to RCA).
IF not what are these connectors for and what kind of sound streams do these inputs handle.
    /Regards

    wmadoss,
Do you have the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum or Platinum Pro? The normal Audigy 2 ZS card on it's own does not have any RCA SPDIF output/input, only the dri'vebays do. If you have a Platinum/Platinum Pro set, with an external dri've, then you can connect an RCA to RCA cable directly to that, and then to your receiver.
If you have a standard Audigy 2 ZS card then you will need to use a minijack to RCA (female) adapter first, and then connect the RCA to RCA cable to that.
For music and games it's best to use the three analog outputs.

  • Have to reset digital out after every reboot - please he

I have my speakers digitally connected to my X-Fi and i'm facing the following problem: after every WinXP reboot i have to reset the digital out in the THX setup console in order to get sound again. My drivers are the latest version, downloaded from the Creative site, whereas the tools (various setup consoles) are from the original install CD. Is maybe this causing it's Are there later versions of the consoles available (to correspond to the latest drivers), didn't find any on the Creative site?
    Would appreciate help...

I was having the same problem, but it seems for me it's just if I'm in game mode. I use x-fi mode changer http://www.freewebs.com/spectra9/xfmc.html?and have the default setting as Entertainment mode. Now I almost never have to waste time switching digital out off and on again. I've got bf2 and bf242, and gamespy set to automatically switch to game mode via this utility so I don't curse myself anymore for forgetting to switch to game mode anymore.

  • Final thought on Creative Digital Speakers & no XFi 5.1 digital out

Hold on to any Audigy &2 or SB Li've 5. cards if you own Creative Digital speakers!! My Inspire 5700 speakers are no use for analogue connections. They were made to connect to Creative Digital output sound cards ONLY. The PR at the time said something along the lines of
"It (the SB Li've 5.) comes with digital I/O with S/PDIF digital input/output, MIDI input/output and a Mini-DIN digital out for connecting to Cambridge SoundWorks digital speakers."
So without a compatible card the Creative speakers are useless. I remember being furious when I first realised the inspire decoder would not easily connect to my DVD player or any other type of sound card!
Creative must have known dropping this DIN output in the XFi range would anger their customers and that without the matter being explicitly pointed out, everyone with digital speakers would assume continued support from the new flagship range of soundcards. To try and pretend that any use of Inspire Digital speakers with the XFi range is anything but crippled is outrageous! It is obvious why there is no mention of the 5. DIN output being dropped just as it is obvious the contempt with which Creative hold their customers. It is not just this issue that has formed my low opinion of Creative.(e.g. EAX and VOIP in games were touted in the early SB Li've days and are only now working at all acceptably, many generations of sound card later!).
It is a sad fact that companies who enjoy market domination feel they have the right to behave in this way.Message Edited by hetzer on 02-09-2006 04:52 PM

Another suggestion:It is better if you have a 64 bit hardware supported by 64 bit Win XP or Vista. In my computer the hardware is of 2003 and is of 32 bit. However I can get results only with XP service pack 2 (32 bit)or Vista 32 bit.Normal XP may not work. However I can only get 48 Khz sampling rate and not the advertised 96 Khz sampling rate. Is it due due 32 bit hardware/software?The manufacturer recommends a 64 bit version for best results.

  • [Titanium] X-Fi effects @ Digital-Out

    Hi there!
I got the X-Fi Titanium Sound Card and i connected it to my Hi-Fi Recei'ver via optical / Digital Out. But if I select SPDIF-Out as primary sound device for Windows, only the pure sound comes out. Without any effects (cmss3d, crystalizer, eq...). So if I change to analog audio the sound crackles (i can hear if move the mouse cursor or scroll websites) so analog is no option.
I found an option in the Control Panel at SPDIF settings which says "Play Stero-Mix using Digital-Output". But this seems to work only while in Audio Creation Mode (wheres no CMSS3D). In Game or Entertainment Mode there is no digital sound if i check this option.
I have tried the official 2.7.0008 as well as the 2.7.0007 Daniel_K drivers.
Is there a way of getting CMSS3D AND Crystalizer for Digital Output?

Right, I already thought it has something to do with the graphics card, because the x-fi is in the pciex-slot right next to my gtx260 graphics card wich somethimes makes "coil noises" and the crackling out of the speakers sounds almost like that. But strange about this is that the speakers crackle as soon as the card is connected to the receiver via analog. It doesnt matter if i mute the sound or even choose a different input source.
But the cage sounds like a really nice idea. I will try that out!
Because of the OEM-thing about this card.. I cant contact any builder because i bult this pc on my own. I bought this soundcard as a bulk-version (without bundle, just the naked card and the original creative driver cd) from a warehouse. But technically its the original Creative X-fi Titanium. It just has no x-ram and no pins for internal Digital connetions.
Ive uploaded some pictures of the front and the back of the card here:

  • Audigy 2 ZS digital out, 4 pole 1/8" adap

Please help. I've been looking around for a while.
I have the Audigy 2 ZS card. I want to use the digital out of the soundcard to connect to my 'coax in' of my component home theater system. I was reading and looking at the Audigy 2 ZS documentation, Chapter 'Connecting Speakers' and the sub-chapter 'connecting digital speakers systems.' It shows that I need a 4-pole /8 jack.
I found this part on creative's store: is this the correct part to hook up a digital coax to my component system and get 5. surround sound?

Optical and digital coax connections can't carry multichannel audio, only stereo. The only way to get multichannel via digital is if it is an AC3 bitstream. Creative also use a 4-pole connector that can carry multichannel digital but your speakers must have a digital DIN connection to use this feature. Otherwise for games, you must use the analogue connections. For your movies, you can use your digital connection, but you must select SPDIF output in the DVD software and select SPDIF pass through in the soundcard options. This way your speakers will decode the AC3 bitstream.

A suggestion to Creative moderators: I think it would be a good idea for Creative to supply a guide with the sound cards and speakers on the various types of connections. Stuff like the capabilities/limitations of each connection and details on AC3 and the way games output audio. There seems to be so many people confused by the multitude of connection possibilities (I was at first).

  • GD580 + Audigy 2 ZS + Digital Out 5.1 = only stereo

Alright, I didn't think this would be so complicated, but maybe it is. I just purchased a Creative Inspire GD580 5.1 surround speaker setup. I have an Audigy 2 ZS PCI sound card. I want to connect the digitial out to my speaker setup using the digital out on my Audigy 2 ZS. My main reason for the surround setup is for gaming. So far I have only been able to get stereo sound with both gaming AND DVD movies.
Anyone who can enlighten me on how to do this, I would be very grateful.
    Thanks!

  • Analogue or digital out to 250D megaworks gives best sound quali

Hi all,?I'm currently using a soundblaster audigy and I use the RCA-to-miniplug cable?connected to the?digital out of the soundcard to the SPDIF input on the speakers. I believe this works because the speakers have a digital-to-analogue controller built into them. They're the 250D 2. Megaworks. (http://www.creative.com/products/pro...oduct=24&nav=2)?However, the soundcard also has a digital-to-analogue converter? Is it better than the one on the speakers? Would I get better sound quality using an analogue connection?I'm currently thinking of upgrading to an X-FI Xtreme Gamer, would that change things? (It has a better digital-to-analogue converter, right?)?Thanks in advance for any help!?Matteo

I doubt you will?hear?the difference between the digital and analogue connections. There could be a volume difference but nothing really quality wise. The DACs coming with the cards are generally of a very good level and I suppose the ones in the speakers will also be very similar. The problem here aren't the DACs but the Audigy processor itself. The chip does resampling to almost every signal it gets and it doesn't do?it good enough. This lowers the quality of the signal for both the SPDIF and the analog outs. You can read more here. The things are better with the X-Fi, because the resampling is of much higher quality. Here is another article. They do not test the SPDIF output, but I doubt if it will get better than the analog. Also let's not forget that even if the SPDIF output is nearer the ideal, it will still heavily depend on the DAC circuity of the speakers. As a sidenote, the X-Fis (apart from the Elite-Pro) have the same DACs and OpAmps as the Audigy 2 ZS, which proves the fact, the processor was a major drawback. Also notice, that under Vista, unless you use an OpenAL title or ALchemy, resampling is done by Windows and I think it will be nearer to the Audigy than X-Fi in quality?PS: Sorry if I have not given a clear answer, but I think you can now draw your own conclusions.Message Edited by alexs3d2 on 08-20-20072:54 AM

  • Audio output changed to 'Digital Out' and speakers don't work! Please help!

I'm not exactly sure what's happened, but after starting up my macbook pro, my speakers/audio haven't worked.
The volume control in the menu bar is inactive (looks light grey) and in the Sound menu, I have no option for output devices except for 'Digital Out' - there is no other option for 'external speakers' (as per usual) or anything!
I can plug earphones in, and sound comes out fine... I don't know what may have happened, but I'm really worried - I use my MBP for home & work; I need my speakers to work!!
If anyone can offer any advice, I'd be really grateful. Thank you in advance.

Talked to Tech Support about this when my machine locked up in this same fashion. There's a little "door" inside the headphone jack that can get stuck in the open position and keep the audio from switching back to the internal speakers / stuck in the digital (optical) output position...
The solution: the iPick... It's a toothpick, but if you use it to poke around inside the headphone jack until the little door gets unstuck, it becomes an iPick, and a box of them are very expensive, but they come in lovely colors and are very intuitive to use...
I'm not kidding... Stick a toothpick (or other non-conductive small stick) in the headphone jack and joog it around until it releases the little door...

  • Can i generate PWM output from digital out of my PCI 7041 RT DAQ card?

I want to generate 4 PWMs using my PCI7041 card. I do have only 2 analog outputs and 2 counters to output my signal that's why I want to use digital out of my card for PWM. How can I do that? If there is any example then please let me guide that way.

    Hello rajen,
There is a good link to PWM in LabVIEW using counters here.
As for using analog output, you will need to be able to continuously update your output waveform. I've attached a program that demonstrates this. Hope this info is helpful.

  • Help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. If not, the machine needs to be serviced. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by the warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • Audigy 4, digital out would not work, now external box does not power

I recently purchased a audigy 4 sound card. At first it was almost as if there was a loose wire somewhere. Sometimes the external break out box would power up and sometimes it would not. There was no loose wire and it now no longer powers up at all. The only thing that was worse than the intermittent power up was the digital out on the box. First of all I was told that you could use the spidf out on the box to a receivers digital in, this never worked now matter what settings I tried. I was then told to try the mini out. So I went and bought a mono mini out, that was a joke, didn't fit right rarely worked. I then went and bought a mini stereo plug to RCA out, that fit right and worked a few times, It no longer works at all.
I had the settings set up correctly with the spidif passthrough.
Has anyone else had any problems getting the digital out to work with a receiver?
The analog works fine, but just like the audigy mp3 the bass output for my sub is weak and almost nonexistent. I have a nice hifi/ht system I am trying to get this card to work with.
