X-Fi Resource conflict, no luck so far!

Hi guy's, hopefully someone here can Help me. Having the trouble with my X-fi Elite pro card causing a resource conflict with my nVidia 6600gt. It says the Vid card cant find enough free resources (Code 2). My motherboard is a gigabyte GA-8IPE000 Pro Rev .0
Have tried moving to all different PCI Slots
Have tried manually assigning IRQ
Have tried disabling all non used ports etc.
Creative tech support i contacted by phone wanted me to remove my vid card and try!? with no on board video might be a bit difficult. Don't have settings for AGP aperture size either which seemed to help others so can't try that. Ready to rip my hair out with frustration!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please Help!!!!!!!!!!! Want so badly to Enjoy Xtreme fidelity goodness!!!!!!!!!!
Thankyou!!!!!!!

Well it sounds like you have made steps in the right direction.
First go to your motherboard manufacture and make sure you have the most recent BIOS
Second Find out what chipset your motherboard uses, (Example Via, Nvidia, SIS, Intel, AMD) and make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers.
Third make sure that all your extra serial & printer ports are disabled (not set to auto) aswell as is you not using 394 firewire shut it off, as well as shut off your onboard video (If you have a addon video card) and sound card. If your using highspeed internet set modem IRQ to NA, set resources controlled by to Auto(ESCD) and reset data configureation to enable. make sure Spread Specturm is shut off. And make sure you have APIC turned on. (if APIC's turned on you may have to reinstall your OS) I know you might have done this already but please double check.
Fourth make sure that you have assign Videocard IRQ enabled.
Fifth move the sound card to the PCI slot furtherest away from your video card.
Make sure you have your onboard video card disabled if you have normal video card.
Hope this helps

  • PCI 6527/PCI 6602 Hardware resource conflicts

    Hello,
I'm running into a problem with my motherboard and a comination of NIDAQ cards.  Normally I have all 6 PCI slots filled with various cards, I have narrowed the problem down to some combination of 2-3 cards.  I can install a PCI-6527 card and a Commtech-Fastcomm ESCC-PCI card into various combinations of PCI slot positions, some combinations the OS will but just fine.  Some combinations the OS will come up and show 50%+ cpu utilization in the Idle Process, attribuated to interrupt handling.  When a good combination is found I can then install a PCI-6602 card and the utilzation problem shows back up.  I have not iterated through all the combinations of the 3 cards yet to see if there is some combination that works, but it appears there is a resource conflict.  I have installed NI-DAQ v 7.4T, and have the latest drivers for the Commtech card.  I also have one more ESCC-PCI card that needs to be installed, so this may become more nerve wracking.  I do not have the ability in the BIOS to manually set PCI assignments.  This is on a fresh install of Windows 2000.
    Thanks

If you already have an application that uses the Tradtional NI-DAQ C
API, you would have to rewrite the code that uses the DAQ function
calls, as DAQmx function calls are quite different.  I would
definitely recommend using NI-DAQmx for future applications, however.
If things seem normal with just National Instruments boards installed
and the issue arises when you put in the other boards, I would contact
the vendor of your other boards.  As far as setting IRQs in
Windows 2000, I believe Windows does it automatically, and ignores what
the BIOS settings for IRQs are.  See the following Knowledge Base.
Aside from this it seems that the boards are working -- interrupts are
obviously needed to communicate to devices but as far as what may be
going on at the process level or how the other boards may be affecting
this is more an operating system issue.

The simplest thing to try is a reset.
With Safari running, click on Safari in the menu bar and select Reset Safari ....
If that does not work, go to Safari / Preferences / Advanced.
The selections I have are shown here:

  • Resource Conflict Warning (ACPI/NON-ACPI devices) while installing solaris

    Hi,
I am trying to install Solaris 8 on my system.
    Intel Celeron 1.7 Ghz
    128 MB RAM
Gigabyte 8LD 533K Motherboard with Intel Chipset.
While installing, the second installation screen titled "Bus
    Enumeration" gives the following warning.
    Warning: Resource Conflict:
    ACPI Device: PNP0C01.
Memory: (about 5 to 6 memory addresses in hexadecimal form are shown)
    NON-ACPI Device: PNP0C01.
Memory: (about 5 to 6 memory addresses in hexadecimal form are shown,
which are different from the ones shown under the ACPI device list)
I ignored the message and pressed F2 key as suggested.
The next screen "Solaris Boot" comes and after choosing the CD (as
the target from which the OS is to be installed), The next screen
comes up asking me to chose the type of installation 1) Solaris
Interactive and 2) Jumpstart. No matter which option I choose, the
system shows 2-3 messages, and even before I can read them, the
system reboots. Thus I am unable to install Solaris.
I searched on Google and as one person had suggested tried tweaking
the BIOS. (Disable APM etc). But it did not work, because I don't
have an option that specifically gives the Disable/Enable option for
APM. I get the Advanced Power Management screen, but it shows some
    different options.
I spoke about this problem with a friend who has some experience on
Solaris and he put the CD Drive and the Hard Disk on two different
buses, but it didn't help. I still get the same message.
I would be very grateful if someone could suggest a method so I can
    install Solaris.
    Regards,
    pmu

The next screen comes up asking me to chose the type of installation 1) Solaris
Interactive and 2) Jumpstart. At this screen, type
    b kadb -v
instead of choosing 1) or 2). Now you should be able to read the error messages from the kernel that
    prevent booting into Solaris.

  • Solaris 8 x86: Resource Conflict

    Hello,
    My x86 PC has:
    - Elitegroup K7S5A mainboard
    - AMD Athlon K7 XP 2400+ Socket A thoroughbred CPU
    - AmiBIOS
    - 256 MB SDRAM
    - 2 Hard Disks with 40 GB each
When I start Solaris 8 installation with the installation CD, the following is displayed in the screen "Bus Enumeration":
Determining bus types and gathering hardware configuration data ...
Warning: Resource Conflict - both devices are added
    NON-ACPI device: ISY0050
    Port: 3F0-3F5, 3F7; IRQ: 6; DMA: 2
    ACPI device: ISY0050
    Port: 3F2-3F3, 3F4-3F5; 3F7; IRQ: 6; DMA: 2
Next screen with "Bus Enumeration" shows:
Warning: Resource Conflict - both devices are added
    NON-ACPI device: CSC0001
    Port: 200-207
    ACPI device: CSC0001
    Port: 201-208
Next screen "Scanning Devices" works o.k.
Then the boot starts in line modus and shows the following:
error: Configuration error - missing controller?
The root file system is not mounted and the configuration assistant has exited prematurely. Booting is unlikely to succeed.
    Shortly later boot stops.
Please, can anybody tell me what the root of the error is? Is there something to be configured in the BIOS?
Thank you very much in advance!

Continuing installation of my Solaris 8 x86 after a long break.
As mentioned above, the installation works now with the patched ata.bef. The installation seems to work o.k. After completion of the installation, I boot to the second hard disk where my Solaris 8 x86 installation is located. Solaris boot manager appears, Solaris boot process begins but shortly after, it stops with the following message:
error: Configuration error - missing controller?
The root filesystem is not mounted and the configuration assistant has exited prematurely. Booting is unlikely to succeed. CRL-ALT-DEL may be used to reset the machine.
Failover to boot interpreter - type ctrl-d to resume boot
    Pressing ctrl-d leads to
boot: source: open of '/etc/bootrc' failed
My configuration as mentioned at the beginning of the thread did not change in the meantime. Is there any idea what is wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

  • PCI 6036E vs. D-link Wireless resource conflict

I have both a PCI 6036E daq card, and a d-link wireless ethernet card on a Dell with fully updated BIOS, drivers (NI-DAQ 7.0), windows xp ect. When both cards are installed, the computer freezes about 15 seconds after windows starts up. I suspect it's a resource conflict between the two PCI cards since they work fine when only one of the two is installed, and so I have methodically changed the IRQ settings in the BIOS as well as tried different physical PCI slots, to no avail. What else can I try?
There is also a normal ethernet card built into the motherboard that looks like it shares the PCI resources, but I've both updated drivers and completely disabled it, so I don't think that's part of the problem.

You are probably correct in identifying the problem as a resource conflict between the two devices. It appears from your post that you are specifying the resources of the devices in the BIOS rather than letting Windows assign them. This is generally a good practice and works well. However, in this case, Windows may be freezing because it is not accepting the resources that you have specified in the BIOS. One possible solution may be to turn on the PnP OS option in the BIOS and let Windows allocate the resources. This may not resolve the resource conflict among devices, but it may keep Windows from freezing on you. Once you are able to get Windows to boot with both devices in the machine, you will be able to set the resources of each device in the Windows De
    vice Manager.
Another option you may want to try in debugging this issue is to removing or disabling all other hardware that is being assigned resources (ie. sound-card, modem, mouse, etc.) . This will allow you to determined if there is not enough resources available in the system or if this is strictly a conflict between these two devices.
You may also want to try substituting a different PCI device for either the DAQ board or the d-link board. This will allow you to see if this a general PCI resource allocation problem or again, device specific.

  • Do the ELVIS I and ELVIS II have the same resource conflicts for the DMM functionaility?

I am trying to use the DMM funcionality on the EVLIS II. In the User Manual for ELVIS I, Appendix D gives all the Resource Conflicts. Is there a similar Appendix for ELVIS II? Could someone please tell me what the Resource Conflicts are with the DMM on the ELVIS II.
    Thanks.

    Hello HMS,
As of right now there isn't any online documentation related specifically to resource conflicts with the ELVIS II. As for resource conflicts with the DMM on the ELVIS II, this isn't an issue, as the DMM circuitry is separate from all other functionality of the device.

  • Video resource conflict issue

Okay, I'm at the end of my rope.  I have built systems for years and even used this mobo and not run across this one.  I realize the psu blows and will eventually be replaced, but I'm not having any boot problems at the moment.  Heres the deal:
Windows installs without a hitch, but when it's done, the video card shows a resource conflict... with itself!  Under resources I get this error:
"I/O range 03B0-03BB used by:  PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
I/O range 03C0-03Df used by:  PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Memory Range 000A0000-000BFFFF used by:  PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge"
By the way, this is using an old Trident PCI graphics card that I always use when troubleshooting video problems - Windows has never had a problem with it before.  If I use a new GF6600 AGP8X card instead, I get the same error except instead of "PCI Standard" it says "AGP".
Anyway, this forces the video card to operate in a safe-mode.  Installing the most recent MSI motherboard driver makes no difference.  When I tryed the new AGP card, I installed the latest Nvidia driver as well.  I have "dumbed down" the motherboard to not load any devices it doesn't need and have turned off the APIC function in the Bios and re-re-reinstalled Windows with no joy.
It's probably something stupid, but I'm stuck.  Any ideas?
    Thanks.

twistedbrowntucker writes: " How about RMA the board and try another? "
Gotta admit that I was considering it but then... EURIKA!   Found the solution!
After googling the web for forum threads on this topic I found that this problem is fairly widespread and affects a wide array of mobo's and gpu's.  That told me it must be a Windows problem (anybody surprised!?).  One post I read had the ring of possiblities, but the solution was applied incorrectly and failed.
Heres the answer:  Windows refused to completely install the mobo drivers!  With all the mobo's bells and whistles enabled and a fresh Windows SR2 install, I applied each mobo driver separately, restarted windows,  and checked the results.  Each driver installed with the expected results except one:  the SMBus driver.  Windows retained it's own driver.  So I forced Windows to accept it by doing a manual PCI-to-PCI bridge driver update in device manager instead of letting the MSI install program do it.  I had to install from disk (not letting MS search for the best driver) and override MS's warning that the driver was not the best driver.  From that point, the system worked as expected and the new (FX6600LE) graphics card was then recognized and subsequent installation of the card driver did exactly what it was supposed to do.
Thanks for all your input.  It helps to have someone to bounce ideas off of.  Hope this helps anyone who runs into this brick wall in the future.

  • Resource confliction when load PCI device's my.bef

To my a driver disk, I make a realmode driver, my.bef.
My device is a pci device. According to the "Realmode Basic Framework", I write the source file, but after I make the DU and test it, It shows <resource confliction and my.bef is bad>
The "Realmode Basic Framework" provide a example of ISA device, as we know, there is great defference between ISA and PCI device. So I do not know how the handle the problem!
Is there anyone can do me a favor!

    Hello Futian,
have you tried also with VISA in synchronous mode?
I've got a similar problem with data rate and my solution was to put VISA in this mode (default mode is asynchronous). To do so, right click on the Read/Write-VIs and choose the appropiate mode.
Second point: DMA transfer is maybe possible. There is a setting in property-node, General settings:Allow DMA transfers
