This is a new replacement x1 carbon received yesterday as a replacement for my current x1 carbon.
Same issue again, but I can't find any other posts about this issue ?
I'm trying to get this issue resolved since end of november...
Started with http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x1-carbon-loose-hinge-lcd-bezel-warranty-denie...
First Lenovo denied warranty, then got an onsite engineer who couldn't fix the problem so I had to sent the laptop to lenovo.
Took them 1 week to replace the screen but problem remained.
Again got an engineer onsite who escalated the problem since he couldn't fix the problem.
On 10 December they approved a complete machine replacement, but took them some time to get a new laptop.
Received the new laptop yesterday, but same issue...
(model 34602SG)

The bezel detachment on the x1c is common, as there is insufficient structural rigidity on the X1C screen casing. I have seen this problem to some degrees on most of the x1c I have came across till end of Feb 2013.

Was wondering if anyone had a part number and price for the LCD bezel for HP Z1. Mine is cracked while moving and can't seem to find a number... Called HP four times and been routed around three of those times, until one person finally said, it is the same as the LCD panel.. Hard to be believe it is not sold seperately.  Thanks!!!

  • I need a new LCD bezel for W520. Which FRUs to get?

    Hello,
today I've broken the LCD bezel on my W520 and I'm looking for a new one.
And I'd like to make sure I understand these FRU's correctly:
    60Y5482: LCD bezel itself.
04W1585: Screw kit. Does it contain those 3 square screw covers that are on the LCD bezel? Or are they included in a Tape kit 04W1586?
04W1566: Clear plate. This should be that wide sticker with 3 icons, Lenovo logo and a W520 text, right? But I see only this FRU for both T520 and W520; so how do I make sure I get the correct W520 one?
    Thanks a lot.

The clear plate kit will contain both T520 and W520.  As far as the screw kit, most have the stickers but some don't.  I don't know about T520, but the old ones can be reused if you are careful when removig them from the old bezel.  I suggest the tip of a razor knife.

  • W700 LCD bezel screw caps part number?

    Hi everyone,
I've had the LCD screen replaced in my W700 recently. One of the plastic square screw caps that mask the bezel screws is peeling off however (it seems they don't like being re-used).
I've looked in the Hardware Maintenance Index PDF but can't seem to find the part number to re-order the screw caps so I can just stick a new one on (I presume it's a CRU part given how easy it is to install by the user).
Can anyone here (Lenovo staff or otherwise) tell me what part number I need? As far as I can tell the W700 screw packs don't contain these screw caps. Maybe it's part of the LCD screen bezel?
I just want to get someone at Lenovo to pop some in an envelope for me, first thing's first though is the part number.
    Many thanks all,

If you need the square caps for the LCD bezel you can order the screw kit 60Y5510. It's normally for T510/W510 but the caps are the same. The only difference is the number. TheW700 has 6 screws, T510/W510 just 3. But the kit might have enough caps.
    Hope this helps.

  • X230t LCD Bezel /w Fingerprint Reader FRU number

    Hi all!
I need to replace LCD plastic bezel with fingerprint reader sensor in x230t (3434 CTO).
As I see in http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/x230t_fru_bom_20121010.pdf doc
    it's FRU number is
    04W6941 -- LCD ButtonBzlASM wFP CM2
    I don't know what CM2 or Comet-2 acronyms means.
Could somebody confirm this FRU number?

Comet is the company that manufactures the fingerprint reader.
Most of the LCD bezel comes with fingerprint reader, so there are more of them in stock as compared to the one without fingerprint reader. The price of the parts depend also factor in inventory cost, and the lack of supply.

  • Thinkpad Edge E540 Loose LCD bezel

Hello, I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E540, I noticed a few days ago that the bezel of the LCD screen at the bottom was loose, here are some photos
    Here is the loose bezel:
    http://imgur.com/52AmB8d
Here is me pressing gently against the bezel to show it actually is loose:
    http://imgur.com/1Jx5Sm7
Will this fall under the warranty?

    Hi Ceadar,
It doesn’t matter much, however for your satisfaction you can remove and refit the bezel, for instruction on re-fixing the bezel please follow the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) link below, and go to page # 106. It is just an issue with alignment and won’t effect to any other thing.
    ThinkPad Edge E540 hmm
    Hope this helps.

  • X1Carbon gap under the screen

    Hi,
Is anybody found a gap between the screen and the "black plastic cover" over the edge of the screen, especially for the bottom side. I doubt this is due to the regularly opening and closing of the screen, which leads to the seperation of the screen and its cover.
I can even see the tapes throug this gap... Can anyone resolve this problem?
    Thank you very much.

  • T400: Replace CCFL lamp or whole LCD?

    Hi everybody,
So my CCFL lamp on my T400 has pretty much died. I'm pretty sure it's not the inverter card due to the pink hue towards the bottom & the (lowering) hissing noise before the LCD shuts off. First noticed it would die pretty soon when the screen started flickering on dim settings.
At first I started to look for LCD assemblies (I have the Samsung panel one, LTN141WD-L05) , then told myself-dumb me! why not just replace the lamp (or both, since we there) since my LCD's doing just fine.
But then some people versed in laptops in general (but none had ever changed CCFL lamps before) told me I was better off changing the LCD assembly all together, since replacing the lamps is apparently a daunting & nerve wracking task. I'm not scared myself in replacing the whole LCD-I've change the LCD cover of a previous ThinkPad before and have disassembled this one countless times, including changing the CPU heatsink/fan unit-although never reaching the point of removing the LCD bezel (I did came close, when I had to check the hinges-but that's another story). And then, I don't think CCFL lamps are FRUs, and the HMM sure doesn't go into that territory.
    So, my question:
Has anybody ever changed CCFL lamps in a ThinkPad/other laptop? Is there even a guide out there ? (I'm still searching around for one)
Oh, and by the way, yes, my T400 is out of warranty (bought it in 2009, extended warranty expired in 2012)
Another detail: I live in Montreal, Canada, and I'd be happy to have it done by some local shop that would have competence in this. I mention local, because if I had to ship it I think I'd rather buy & have myself shipped a whole LCD unit instead. So I'm supposed to call tomorrow to my local Lenovo service center & a few approved service provider (from Lenovo's website) to inquire about their prices **and** turn-around time (again, if it takes a month I'd do either one of the repairs myself)
Thanks in advance, any feedback will be appreciated.
Edit: There's actually only one CCFL lamp in the LTN141WD-L05.
    ThinkPad T400 (2764-CTO): Windows 7 64 SP2 / T9400 2.53 GHz / 8GB RAM / 14.1" WXGA+ (1440x900) / ATI Radeon HD 3470 + Intel 4500MHD (switchable) / 320GB 7200rpm / DVD±RW / Intel WiFi 5300

Hissing comes from the inverter. Redness from the CCFL. Both must be replaced.
Having changed a CCFL myself on a T30 many years ago I swore never to do it again, and would advise everyone else to just flip the screen or an entire assembly. The chances of introducing dust specs between the LCD layers in the process of swapping the bulb are just way too high for my liking, and that's only one of the problems.
Secondly, Samsung screens are in general a horror show to change the CCFL on, regardless of the generation.
Lastly, T400 panels are rather inexpensive nowadays...
If you insist on a guide, here's the best one there is, at least in my opinion:

  • Light leak (bleeding) theory sponge gasket around lcd panel . Apple fix?

    Hi
been looking at the light leak issue crop up on the forums and this may have already been suggested.
But if you look at the ifixit teardown and the part of them lifting up the digitser:
    http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/OtgrusGS6MXm5tMA.huge
You can see apple chose to use a sponge gasket around the display right on the LCD bezels edge!
now anyone whos worked with laptops repairing them (myself) and has fitted a raw LCD panel knows that any pressure on the LCD steal bezel will cause the backlight to bleed through, much like if you pressed an uncoverd LCD screen with your finger.
Now whats to say this sponge gasket isnt doing the same? soon as they stick the glass to the back plate the gasket puts pressure on the LCD, If so it could be easy fixed by a softer gasket/setting it further back or maybe ditching it and blocking dust from outside at the openings!
Just a theory what you guys think?

  • X230 Top bezel bumps dents palmrest

    Hi,
I've been using the X230 for a while now, but I started to notice over the months there's small marks on the right side of the trackpad, which seems to be caused by the top bezel bumps (seems pointless other than causing damage)...
I live in the UK, and I have 3 Years Warranty but I am unsure whether if the problem worsens, I prefer if I had someone on-site to replace the palmrest? I cannot stand waiting for weeks for my laptop to return from repairs, as my X230 is needed for college and in general use at home.
Is it possible if the damage worsens, I get the palmrest part sent so I can replace it myself or I have a person from Lenovo on-site to do the repairs?
Owner of: ThinkPad SL510, X131e, X230 (not fond of)
Other systems: MSI GT640, Sony Vaio PCG 709K, Dell Latitude D430,

My X220 unit has the same symphtomes. However, my unit is already after warranty, so I plan to buy new LCD bezel (I got broken upper corners and the down bottom looses from the screen) and palmrest. It is not as expensive.
If you do your repair fine, it should not harm your warranty (somebody correct me if am I wrong).
But this topic is very old, so maybe it will be good for somebody in the future.

  • LCD crack T530

    Hey guys!
I bought refurbished T530 last December and I hardly use it, because my old x201 still works but with only a minor problem with the network card. However, two weeks ago, after I finished working that day, I closed the laptop and went to bed. When I reopened the laptop the next day - nobody had even touched it inbetween -  there were lines going through the screen and became worse several days later. ( now verifid as cracks in the screen)
Several days ago I sent it  to the Lenovo service center in US and the support people there told me, that this was no case for warranty, because I had caused the damage. However, as I am sure, that the failure is not my fault, I am really not willing to pay 650 USD+tax  for a replacement screen (I have a 1 year warranty).
What I wanted to ask now is: Has anybody else had similar problems? Does anybody has an explanation, how this damage can occur? And especially: How can I convince the people from the service center to repair it under warranty? I argued with them, but they were not open for my arguments and stated that the LCD crack is not covered.
Just to clarify: I am 100% positive that nobody touched the laptop before the problam occurred.
PS, I am so disappointed with lenovo thinkpad. I had T61, x201 and now T530. I just felt that the quality and services are going downhill.

    >  Does anybody has an explanation, how this damage can occur?
It's possible for the glass substrate from which LCD panels are made can crack as the result of thermal stress, being held in place inside the bezel too tightly or similar. Especially if the glass is heat-treated as part of the manufacturing process than this sort of thing can happen spontaneously. (I don't know if that's the case with LCD substrate glass.)
    > How can I convince the people from the service center to repair it under warranty?
You could call back and ask to escalate the matter. The challenge is to convince them that there was some sort of manufacturing defect rather than physical abuse. Your situation is further complicated because it's a refurbished system that may carry a more restrictive warranty.
    > I am really not willing to pay 650 USD+tax  for a replacement screen
Another option would be to find a replacement panel or even complete LCD/bezel assembly on eBay and replace it yourself using the detailed instructions in the Hardware Maintenance Manual. I see many panels for T530 listed for about $50. This may be a more expedient option.

  • Apple Replaced LCD But More Problems...

    Hi All,
Thought i would give this place a shot to see what you all think of my problems with apple! I purchased my MacBook only 3 months ago, and the LCD went faulty. Apple agreed to replace it, which was done on Sunday/Monday and i picked it up today (Tuesday) from the Glasgow store.
My Mac was immaculate when it went in, but the condition it came out in was shocking. The center screw on the bottom of the Mac isn't in correctly, so when you put on a table it scratches the top of the table, and also if you give the screw a push, you can see the keyboard moving on the top, as if its sticking right below the keyboard. Also the vents at the back where the heat sink/fan lets out the hot air has hairline cracks where they have "tried" to click it back into place.
Theirs more...on the top, they have used too big a screw and their is a hugh bulge below the LCD, and just to the left of the f4 key. And also they havent put the LCD bezel on correctly at the corners, so you can see into the LCD lid, and also the MacBook's speakers are extremely tinny as if they have damaged them when they were removed to fit the LCD or that, there is no bass to them at all.
I have taken as much pictures as i can of the faults it has came back with, and im going to write to apple. But i phoned up the store and they want my Mac in ASAP. So im going tomorrow to see what can be done, but do you all think im within my right to demand a new one?
When it went in it was perfect apart from the LCD, now it has came out with a good LCD but with another 5 problems.
How would you guys feel? Im am extremely disappointed in Apple, as i have the MacBook, iPhone, iPod and a iMac!
Would love to here your thoughts,
    Stu

    Hi Much Wiser Now,
Went to the apple store today, and had a long chat with a "Genius". Everything is sorted you will be glad to know, and i got a brand new MacBook which im happy at. It's what i wanted, but i must say it was good customer service. His explanation was that they just had newly trained technicians, and they check every MacBook before it leaves the workshop, but mine must have been missed.
I did exactly what you say, i didn't be rude or aggressive which i think helped the situation! I explained everything to the Genius and he agreed that it shouldn't have been returned to be in this condition.
I didn't check it before i left due to i was working, and i was on a break :P Silly me though, i have learned from my mistakes! Haha.
    Thanks for the response,
    Stu

  • HP G70-460US Bezel Display?

I recently disassembled my laptop in an attempt to repair the left side hinge; however, I discovered that it was not the hinge that was broken, but the plastic housings of the screws that hold the hinge in place.  A made a temporary repair with superglue, but two weeks later my laptop is back to snapping and cracking every time I open it.  What I would like to do is replace the display on my computer--not the screen itself, because there is nothing wrong with the LCD panel, but the plastic casing around it to which the hinge is attached.  Search engines such as Google and the HP website suggest parts such as the LCD bezel assembly; if I order this, will I be able to repair my problem?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The bezel is the top plastic piece. What you need is the display housing or display back cover.
    488379-001   In stock
LCD back cover - For 17-inch display panel
    RoHS: Modified
If you google the part number you can find it on ebay and elsewhere but the HP price is pretty fair.
The screw holes are likely damaged because the hinges have seized up. They still look OK but they have become too diificult to move so it puts stress on the screws. You need to replace the display back and the hinges.
