  • Missing driver for "Base system device" x2 after Windows 7 install on laptop

Upon upgrading to SSD drive and fresh installation of Windows Professional 64 bit, I have two conflicts in device manager referring to "base system device". Both devices are PCI Slot 2 (PCI bus 67 device 0 function 1)
Both devices report the following code in system information:
    PCI/VEN_1180&DEV_E852&SUBSYS_146D103C&REV_01/4&7ECE869&0&02E2
I have read through 16 pages of other people with simlar problems but not the same code. I have installed the Ricoh 5-in-1 reader for 64 bit software with no success.  Any help will be greatly appreciated

  • Windows 7 RC - Portege M200 - Base System Device

Windows 7 RC is running nicely on my M200 but the Device Manager is showing an 'Other Device' with no driver loaded. It is described as 'Base System Device' and Properties shows its location as 'PCI Bus 2, Device 13, Function 0'.
I have tried on-line searches and browsing within my M200 for a driver with no success. I have read elsewhere in these forums that the 'Base System Device' could be tied up with the SD Utilities. I have downloaded a fresh copy of the SD Utilities and installed them but still no luck. Certainly the SD Format utility won't work - it does not recognise when an SD card in inserted - so may be the SD Utilities need revision for Windows 7.
Not a major problem as I can format SD cards elsewhere but it would be nice to get a clean bill of health from Device Manager.
Has anyone else run into this problem and, even better, found a solution?
    Keith Woolf

Some progress! I have checked out the IR device; it has a 'later' driver installed than the one listed on the laptopvideo2go website so I have left it alone. It report 'working OK' although I have no means of checking it.
I found the VENdor and DEVice numbers under Base System Device\Properties\Details\Hardware Ids; they are VEN 1179 and DEV 0805. The 'pcidatabase' decodes these as VENdor Toshiba America Info Systems and DEVice SD Card Controller.
This seems to confirm that, as I guessed from a thread on another forum, it is the SD Card Controller that lacks a driver and that it is 'Toshiba' who - we hope - will come up with an updated driver 'in due course'.
Thanks very much for your help; I have learned how to identify PCI problems and have bookmarked the M200 Impressions site - very interesting and I shall keep an eye on your work.
    Thanks again, all.

  • What is 'Base System Device'?

After working with my laptop for over two years, i encounter more and more problems but the weirdest thing is that suddenly it tells me that it found a new hardware called base system device, which should be installed.
I have no clue what that is, where to find the software or whether I need to install it at all. Can somebody please give me some advice here?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Firstly could you please post you notebook name?
Secondly: did you install the OS from the Toshiba recovery CD?
This image contains whole drivers and necessary tools and after the installation of the OS from the recovery CD no unknown device should appears in device manager
PS: Base system device is usually the SD Card Controller.

  • DV6416eo.. 500GB HDD, Windows 7. Base system devices w/o drivers

    Hie
    I replaced the original HDD with a 500GB WD5000BEVT.
It works fine after I disabled Native SATA Support.
    I installed Windows 7.
Enabling Native SATA Support gives me a blue screen, and Windows 7 can't fix the problem.
In device manager, I get in Other devices:
Base system device - PCI bus 5, device 5, function 2
Base system device - PCI bus 5, device 5, function 3
    No drivers for these.
What would these devices be? Native SATA support?

    Hello jthompsn1957,
You may want to read this article prior to any attempted OS downgrades.
    Good luck!

  • Upgraded to windows 7 now my Base System Device and Fingerprint Reader isn't working!

I recently upgraded from Windows Vista Business to Windows 7 Ultimate and my Base System Device and Fingerprint Reader isn't working.  I've tried reading advice off of some forums here and even checked out what I can download from this site and also tried updating but each time it either says could not find updates, or when I  try dowloading from this site it says the program may have not installed correctly.  I'm stuck I don't know what else I can do, can someone help, I would appreaciate it greatly!
    CheerGurl313

Ah if only life were so simple. I have been without a soundcard ever since upgrading to Windows 7, have spent hours on the Lenovo site trying to locate a driver, filling in all those little boxes, time after time to no avail. The drivers, if they exist at all, are being kept secret. There can be no other explanation. Have the same problem with the fingerprint thingy, but not bothered as the kids had learnt to bypass it anyway.
Enjoying windows 7 in complete silence. If anyone wants to advise downloading a driver then fantastic, but give us a clue where it is hidden.

  • Missing drivers after fresh installation of window 7 the base system device missing.

missing driver on  HP pavilion dv4 the base system device drive,as a result of these i cant access sound on system.

    Hi:
The base system device is most likely your card reader.
Missing audio is related to something else.
On the bottom of your PC on the sticker with the serial number, please post your p/n.
That will identify the specific model of your dv4 and I can send you the link to the drivers.
The p/n should be arranged similar to this:  AF846AW#ABA
