Xbox live not working in WPA/WPA2 personal mode.

Xbox Live is not working in WPA/WPA2 personal mode. It does, however, work in WEP mode. I have 2 windows laptops on my wireless network. when I am on WEP, the laptop is stuck in a perpetual "Acquiring Network Address" state. When I have WPA/WPA2 enabled, my laptops work fine, but xbox live cuts in and out of detecting my network, and I cant even get close to connecting at all.
So until I figure this out, I have to choose between WEP (xbox live working, and not PCs) WPA(PCs working, not xbox live) or unsecured (risky). what should I do?

Thats strange topcat, i have exactly the same problem as you except that when i am in WEP encryption my xbox cant even see the extreme on the network and i cant even get it it to connect at all. In WPA mode the xbox sees the network but will not connect. I have rang xbox and they say that it should work and that the problem lies with Apple, although i dont believe this personally. In the meantime ive had to hardwire the xbox to the router which isnt why i bought the router. Disappointed

  • E70 doesn't work with WPA/WPA2!

    Hello, ppl!
Does anybody know if there is any chance that E70 will work with WPA/WPA2 encryption? Found it is not working with my home router configured to WPA but works with WEP. However WEP isn't strong protection and I'd prefer WPA. I just took phone to see it's capabilities before buying but lack of WPA would stop me from purchase - WM devices never had such trouble
'd like to hear from someone who do really know if this device will ever work with WPA and maybe it could do now.
PS. have installed latest firmwares to the router and mobile phone.

  • Is it possible to even get xbox live to work

Is it possible to even get xbox live to work on a mac airport extreme 802.11n router, i tried everything i could think of (just so you know i have a d-link wireless router for my xbox) ? If anybody has actually performed this feat please tell me!

My XBOX 360 works perfectly and very fast wirless on Apple Extreme. I do not have security enabled and limit users (basically only my XBOX) by MAC adreess, which is easy in the setup utility. My old Linksys was very jittery when playing NHL hockey online, but now with extreme it is perfect and smooth. Hard core security folks will say you can sniff my network with a MAC address spoof utility, but I know my neighbours could care less about sniffing my XBox traffic....

  • AX will not work with WPA

My AX worked successfully with WPA security for several months, then stopped. I reset it, hard and soft, used factory default, but it would not work with WPA. Changed the security to WEP 128 and it worked fine. But now my Macbook Pro won't connect automatically. I have to run diagnostics to reconnect every time I started the computer.
Went back to WPA, now my Macbook Pro connects fine again, but the AX won't won't connect. Airport utility recognizes it when I reset it, but when I go thru the configuring process with Airport Utility, AX always fails on the last step, saying it could not join the network after it restarted.
Does this make any sense to anyone?

    Henry,
Thank you for explaining Duane's approach. Immensely helpful! And, of course, in retrospect, makes complete sense. I'm sure there is a kb article on this somewhere....... ?
Which brings me to something in your post:
"do a hard reset of the Airport Express and use the Airport Setup Assistant to reconfigure it from scratch"
Am I missing something here because after installing Leopard, Airport Utility is the only Airport app I have in my Utilities Folder? I do remember Airport Setup Assistant being part of Tiger (but that disappeared as did the functionality of several other Airport apps (Airport Admin, etc.) after upgrading to Leopard.
So, IS there an equivalent in Leopard of the Airport Setup Assistant? Or do I use the Network app in Sys Prefs to Join an already existing network (going the route of a hard reset of AX)?
Usually, David Pogue's MM book on OS X is helpful in filling in the gaps, but his new Leopard book seems a bit sketchy this time on setting up a wireless network. I think this subject (setting up a wireless network, etc.) could almost get a MM of it's own!
If I may, can I address a related issue? Previously, in setting up the AEBS and AX to work together you do end up with what LOOKS like TWO networks (both have their own Apple network numbers and letters) even though they are working in tandem as 1 network, right?
I bought the AX to extend the range of my network because it seemed the signal from the AEBS was not quite strong enough. I set it up to be a "remote" to the AEBS's "main." I also use the AX to stream iTunes to my living room's sound system.
Again, many thanks for your help.

    Configure in Personal Mode
The term personal mode refers to products that are       tested to be interoperable in the PSK-only mode of operation for       authentication. This mode requires manual configuration of a PSK on the AP and       clients. PSK authenticates users via a password, or identification code, on       both the client station and the AP. No authentication server is necessary. A       client can gain access to the network only if the client password matches the       AP password. The password also provides the keying material that TKIP or AES       uses to generate an encryption key for the encryption of the data packets.       Personal mode is targeted to SOHO environments and is not considered secure for       enterprise environments. This section provides the configuration that you need       to implement WPA 2 in the personal mode of operation.

  • PSE11 Why does Sharpening not work in Quick or Guided Mode?

I have used PSE 5 happily and greatly liked the auto sharpen feature. I have been forced to upgrade to PSE 11 due to Windows 8 incompatibility with 5.
I am appalled to find that the sharpen feature, including auto, does not work in Quick or Guided modes. The small previews in Quick mode show the correct sharpening effect but clicking on them or using the slider does not transfer to the main image. I either have to go into full unsharp mask, which I hate for quick fixes, or use the 'adjust sharpness' option under 'filter' in Quick or Guided Mode, which increases sharpness by an unspecified amount on each click.
Surely there si something wrong here. The feature is there so why doesn't it work?
Any ideas would be welcome. If it isn't fixable I shall want a refund based on the product not being fit for purpose.
    Thanks
    dlgoodyear

Thanks for confirming that it should work ok. I've now done the obvious and uninstalled/reinstalled and it's fine now.

  • Airport no longer works with WPA, WPA2 or WEP after 10.4.8 update.

    A little disappointing.
After updating to 10.4.8 (I first did Software Update, then read here that the downloaded is safer, so I downloaded, repaired permissions, rebooted, installed 10.4.8 again from the download, rebooted, repaired permissions once more)
Now when I try to use the Airport on my MacBook Pro 17" I cannot connect to my wireless router (DLINK-524) with any security turned on (WPA, WPA2 or WEP). The signal strenght flashes on full (I'm close to the router) and off and I do not connect.
Any clue how to fix this?
    Macbook Pro 17" Mac OS X (10.4.7)
    Macbook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I just did that - I tried a rollback with an "archive and install", and then stopped at 10.4.7. My problems persist... I'm actually quite amazed! Qurious if a clean install would solve the issue, but not curous enough to try. The way i see it, a re-install (even doing an "archive thingy") should include resetting all drivers. Well, either I am wrong and they are saved along with user settings - or else your explanation seems the only viable one; that there was a firmware upgrade included in this install. I admit - I did NOT read any readme. On the other hand, I tried my first install using the normal update.
    =)
Anyway, after deleting all system prefs, deleting and reconnecting networks, repairing disk permissions and key rings, deleting keyrings etc. etc. - doing it all over again in different orders etc., I tried "arhive and install" back to 10.4.7. When that doesn't solve it, I give up. I have now opened my network - disabled crypt, and settle for simple connection control on MAC adresses. That works.
I would REALLY appreciate a fix, ladies and gentlemen on Apple. I mean really as in I am gonna egg your house if you don't give me...

ps2. please save me. this problem makes my lifespan decrease.

Mifrett, don't panic. I'm here to assist you. It sounds like the software update may be conflicting with the software of the applications that were previously downloaded to your device. I recommend that you uninstall a few applications in Settings>Manage Apps> tap the app>tap uninstall application. Once you have uninstalled a few applications, power your device off/on. You may redownload the applications that you previously had. However, this time, the applications will be downloaded to your phone with the latest app software. I trust that these steps will improve the performance of your device. Keep us posted. We're here for you.

  • Adobe FMS 4.5 and Streaming to DVR and Live Not Working

    Hello,
I am having some issues with streaming Live and DVR. I am fairly new to the FMS world, but not to the streaming media world.
I am using a FMS server on AWS, version 4.5. I have installed DVRcast on the server and created a test application. I am seeing no errors in the logs, all services are running properly. No errors when connecting to the serve via FMLE. Logged into the Admin Console, I see the connection. In the Adobe Flash Media Playback Setup player, it just buffers. I try to play the rtmp stream in another test player and get a security error. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Also having the same problem.
Have installed the applications and stream to the server using FMLE with the DVR Auto Record on and the server is receiving the stream.
But there is no file being saved and when I try to connect with a RTMP player it failes to connect, the livedvr_client_test sample code gives back "Main.as : Not connected to FMS yet - Trying again ...."
Normal LIVE streaming works, it is just the application. Followed the PDF to the letter.
Any help with this would be great!
    Thank you.

  • Support for xbox is not working!!!

    To whom it may concern,
i own a 360 xbox prior to kinect and has been working fine with all updates for years up to the last 6 months.
i travel between friends house and use the online service to access my account for many years and it has never been a issue till last year when i could not access my account when i return from my friends house. it took 4 days to get back online i used all
the suggestions at the time and contact support but gave up when no help was given. when i decide to turn back on the xbox, just by chance that the online service was back on. for the rest of the year ive continue to have sporadic indicents that seem to have
nothing related to the xbox and figure it was do to the internet connection till now, i have been with out service to my account for a week at my house and i have made several attempts to contact the support service online on my pc as my friends samsung phone.
I also used all the suggestion that have been give by the system as well as the internet which is provided by microsoft via xbox division. still to this day my xbox is not connected to my xbox account.
i feel even though i use an older xbox model(that many of my friends still use and some work fine with the updates and others have switch to PS4 for similar reasons) that the quality and care about a product should still be a concern for the company even
though newer versions come out, especially since tech support is provided. i dont want to say that i dont upgrade but if im getting this kind of service and help now, i feel that if i decide to get the new system i will receive the same support and when do
need the help im not gonna be able to get it.
Untill these issues are resolve i feel that there no reason to renew my account or purchase a new model xbox. As well as tell friends to invest there time in xbox if there just gonna deal with these issues.
thank you for your time, hope that issues will be resolved and that when i ask my friends how the service is hopefully its for the better.

  • Express extending Extreme's Network, Xbox Live not connecting.

    Hey Everyone!
I have an Airport Express (n version) extending my Airport Extreme's (n version) wifi successfully. My Xbox is connected to my Express via ethernet. My Xbox was able to successfully download a system update, but fails when attempting to update an Xbox Live update. I checked Microsoft's website to make sure Xbox Live was running properly, which it is. My network test on the Xbox tells me that it can connect to the Network, it can connect to the internet, but CANNOT connect to Xbox Live. My ip address does start with 10.0.x.xx, I'm wondering if that is part of the issue? I have never had any issue downloading things on the internet via my laptop. My other idea is that I haven't updated my Xbox in about 6 months, so maybe there's just a large amount of updates and it's receiving a bug of some sort? Can someone help me out here?
    -Nate

First, have you had an opportunity to try some of the connectivity troubleshooting options provided by Microsoft for Xbox LIVE? For example, either Xbox LIVE Connection Problems or Xbox LIVE Connection Solution (aka Connection Wizard)? If so, what was the exact error(s) that either were reporting?
Typically, when your console is able to access the Internet, but not to Xbox LIVE, the issue can be one of at least three things: 1) ICMP, 2) NAT, or 3) MTU errors. Were any of these reported when you ran the connectivity tests?
