    Get the SDK and start playing with the sample plug-ins. Asking for something as general as "how do I get started" is asking a little much from this forum :) Try your hand at the SDK and come back to ask more specific questions as you run into them.
    Bear in mind that this isn't an Xcode forum either, though I'm sure there are places to get good help on that!

    hi everyone ... i am using mac mini with mac os x 10.6.8 and would like to install xocde 4 but i am not be able to use the latest version of xcode 4 which is xcode 4.2 because it only compatible for mac os x 10.7 and above.. but i would like to use the xcode 4.0.2 but i dont see there is a link for me to download throught apple website or maybe there is somewhere else in the website for me to download .. do anyone know about it or the link? on the other hand, my stingy boss is not wiling to upgrade the mac os to lion and would like to use xcode version 4... but i just found xcode 3.2.6 thru teh website ...

    i've got the same problem: "how is it possible to have Xcode-4 compatible with OSX-10.6.8" (is there someone who couldn't not undertstand the question ?).
    with an account in developper section, you have to acces a "download page" with some off "xcode" program files... but NEVER the 4.0.2.
    So (for guys who don't understand all the previous message...) in the disk installation of OSX-10.6 there is no xcode-4, but Xcode-3... so WE WANT Xcode-4 on OSX-10.6.8 (what is so difficult to understand guys ?), because OSX-10.7 Lion is not a "good" OS for workers (bad stability and to commercial version... not realy pro version), and we can't do all thing you do with 10.6.8 version... so the 10.6.8 version is more stable than the poor 10.7 version who is to young.
    Xcode-4 (the first version) can work on 10.6.8, but Apple don't want to take it on his download page... WHY ?
    is there the new politic of Apple to make money without making good job ? Is there the new commercial politic of Apple to sale poorless quality and no service at a big price ? What is it ? is it the end of Apple quality bisness ?... I think it is your bad way now, and i'm so sorry.

  • Any AE plugin Xcode sample project with cuda for mac?

    Hello everyone,
    As suggested by the AE sdk, I start to create my plugin with sample project from the SDK.
    However, I can not find an example with CUDA support for mac.
    Now I have some troubles to setup an adobe plugin project with CUDA support for mac, as cuda files are compiled by nvcc.
    Anybody can tell me where I can find an example to build an AE plugin with CUDA for mac?

    For anyone following along, I’ve been able to create a sample project that uses CUDA in Xcode, and will include it in the next PPro SDK.  If anyone is interested in getting it sooner, let me know.

    Awhile back I downloaded Xcode for my Mac Mini and It didn't work and uninstalled it. Should I download it again, and if it doesn't work again what should I do?

    Find your OS install discs and try to install Xcode from there. If that works, then download the updates again.
    Make sure that any anti-virus software is disabled...don't use FileVault....repair permissions when done...install to the default location.
    Tens of thousands of devs have successfully downloaded and installed, so I wouldn't be too quick to blame the source

    Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?  I have created an executable application that I want to distribute to Mac and Linux users (different applications were created in the respective OS).  I was wondering if there is any way to create an installer?  I think there probably isn't...  If the user were to simply download the Labview Run-time Engine from ni.com would they be able to run the application or is it more complicated than that?

    I think Shane tried to say, that it is on the Mac OS X installation DVD, NOT the LabVIEW for Mac OS X installation medium. And that could very well have changed in recent Mac OS X versions as well. They used to have Xcode on it too, but that seems gone as well.

    I went back to rework some Java applets I have written and discovered they don't compile anymore in Xcode (at least as before)

    Clicking on the link goes to the (old) log-in page for the Developer program and the download/Java link goes to a page with 10.6 Java downloads - Developer previews.
    Still no Java templates (in Xcode). Maybe I should read the documentation (if I can find where it was installed). I was able to 'compile' the Hello World applets in the organizer window but no 'Hello World' in Safari.
    What's happened to the 'old' system for Java development?

    After installing XCode 3.2.1 there were no Java docs or Java templates. I installed the Java files and docs for 10.6 from the developer site. Searching XCode for Java gives a lot of Javascript items but no easy answers for Java. Using the Organizer window instead of the Xcode project window is a big change. I must have missed it but searching this forum, Xcode and now the java-dev mailing list archive hasn't given me good answers. One answer seems to be to put Mac OS X10.5 on a separate volume, install the older XCode (or current??) and develop Java one OS version back.
    The Hello World applet didn't run for me when I tried it. Blank browser window. Java Preferences seem to default for 10.6

    I'm trying to build a ANE for Mac OSX. I setup XCode 5.1 and was following this two tutorials:

    To get the project setup.
    I'm finding that Adobe AIR.framwork in folder /runtimes/air/mac is 32-bit, but XCode has deprecated 32-bit...so I'm finding this error when I try to build the project:
    error: -fobjc-arc is not supported on platforms using the legacy runtime
    Command /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/cl ang failed with exit code 1
    So right now ANE development for Mac OSX is broke since I can't build a cocoa framework library due to 32-bit deprecation and Adobe not updating the library since 2011
    I'm right or maybe I'm missing something.
    Hope someone could give some path to solve this since it's very frustrating to deal with this stuff to see there's no update for this basic libraries for Mac.
    If what I'm seeing is true, I see another error in Adobe stack that make people like me supporting the platform tired of deal with this kind of things. Sorry to be sound so frustrated but it's a very negative experience for the Adobe AIR platform since you see that a part of the platform is not updated for 3 years!.

    You need to upgrade your operating system; call 1-800-MY-APPLE, ask for an OS X Lion download code. It will be $29 or so.

    At the moment I develop using ssh and vi on the target machine. This is NOT very comfortable.

    In theory, yes. In practice, no. You would need a version of GCC that supports targeting that architecture and all the header and library files for that architecture. It is highly unlikely to be worth the time and effort to try it and it may not even work even if you do everything right. Plus, you would still have to run and test on the target platform.
    You'll just have to make life the best that you can on Linux. I suggest downloading the NEdit editor for X Windows. It is as good as any Mac editor and very easy to script for automation.
